A great man once said opinions are like a**holes…everyone’s got one. However, some people like to let their butt out for from time to time – take Polow Da Don.
Since the controversy surrounding his comments towards white women and black women, Polow Da Don has been under hell fire. Allhiphop linked up with the producer for his response to the feedback he received against his views and being dubbed the “King Of White Girls”:
AllHipHop.com: So do you stand by your statements?
Polow Da Don: Oh definitely. It has nothing to do with me, these effects. I didn’t make this stuff up. Only thing where people got misled is that I said I prefer a White woman, and that’s not the case at all. Really, I date all types of women. It was a stage in my life when I started dating a lot of White women- that was just a stage in my life. Right now, I date girls I like. I don’t base it off of any shade or color when I meet a girl now. They linked my comments about the Black family and Black women with the “King of the White Girls” and [the fact that] I dated White girls. That’s where it all went wrong. So when I was comparing Black women to White women, that has zero to do with me dating White women. What I was saying was factual though. Ladies and gentlemen agreed, n****s and b******s got mad.
Polow once again did not hold his tongue with his opinion in the interview. He went on to clarify himself saying this:
It’s not that I’m attacking Black women; Black women have done this to themselves. Well I’m not going to say that. They didn’t do it to themselves, but they are a part of the cycle, which means they’re not helping the situation by not looking at the problem. So let’s take White people out of it, and take any other race out of it. I used White women as a comparison because so many Black people get mad because I say that I’m the “King of the White Girls.” First of all, saying that I’m the “King of the White Girls,” how can you find that disrespectful as a Black woman? You are an idiot. If anything, I should have Klansmen feeling disrespected; I should have White women feeling disrespected as far as a Black man saying he’s the king of the White women. It’s not disrespectful to Black woman at all. If a white man says, “I’m the King of Black women,” would [Black women] be mad at the White man? Of course you would be, and so would Black men. You think a White woman would be mad at a White man saying, “I’m the king of Black women?” No, they won’t be mad. So I don’t understand how a Black woman can feel offended by me saying I’m the “King of the White Girls.” I didn’t come up with that. Like I said, a White man came up with that title for me. But, Black women do need to get their shit together, period, point blank. And if you’re in denial of that, you are part of the problem.
this about Oprah:
AllHipHop.com: So we discussed how some Black have not really learned to be men yet. Do you think that may be a reason why some Black women have a problem being submissive to that kind of man?
Polow Da Don: No. Women have been taught to not trust us. Women have run the household for so long, they’ve been taught to be independent. So when a man comes in and tries to run the household, they are kind of fighting for that spot, so to speak. There’s gonna be a little resistance before a woman just let’s it all go because they’ve seen their mothers be strong, and grandmothers be so strong, and they taught them to be the same way. So when you meet a guy you’re gonna challenge him. Take somebody like Oprah (Winfrey.) To me Oprah is a bad example. To me Oprah being titled as the most powerful Black woman in America, and she doesn’t have a man… To me that’s sending a bad signal to all young Black women. That’s saying the most powerful Black woman in America didn’t need a man. You telling me that’s a role model?
oh, and now is the “Prince Of White Girls”:
AllHipHop.com: I feel you. So do you have anything else to add?
Polow Da Don: Yes. I am no longer calling myself the “King of White Girls,” I am the Prince. Quincy Jones had the baddest white girls ever, and the most. I did my history and I ain’t got s**t on Quincy Jones. [Laughs]
Read the rest of his interview here. Does he have a point or should he just keep it on mute?
He is still an ass thou!
he has a point, black people can jus be so iggnorant sometimes…..if he likes white girls, then so be it….why get all offended by that….i dont get it………..some people preffere spanish………some people peffere white…..who gives a fuck…..my man is white and he treats me right…….thats all that matters when u gota good man doin right by you
true point #2 but the man is still an ass.
Nice bod… LOL.
He is still a cute a$$hole & full of sh$t….
all i have to say is…i was a strong black woman before and i am still a strong black woman now that I am married to a strong black man. that’s his opinion…I am not made but the stereotypes don’t apply to me. yes i was conditioned to be strong and yes i learned it from my mom and grandmother. and he has a point that, sometimes it does take a woman awhile to totally “let go” after she has been independent for so long…i experienced that personallly. it’s not fair for him to say that Oprah is a “bad example” because she “made it” without a man because he doesn’t even know her story obviously. to me, he lucked up and made a point or two but the rest of his statements are outlandish. personally i am not offended though.
I agree with his intentions but, you are always gonna run into people who are upset with your comments when you generalize so much. He should have reworded what he said because those characteristics he talked about does not apply to ALL Black women or ALL White women.
If ya’ll read that whole ALLHIPHOP interview, he talked about how his parents have been married for 40 years, and how most Black women and men grow up in a 1 parent household, blah blah blah… Hey Polow: I’m a black woman, I grew up with both my parents (who have been married over 30 years now), I’m educated and I can honestly say that THE WAY YOU SAID WHAT YOU SAID WAS IGNORANT. You have a point, don’t get me wrong, you just need to work on how you get that point across, because you offended a lot of Black women.
back peddling….back peddling……..damage control……………damage control………
LMAO @ #8, you is SO right!!!!!!!!!!!
we are not mad that he is the king or prince of white girls he can have as many as he wants we’re mad because he stereotyped all black women in to one category which was completely wrong of him to say
I have to leave another comment. He can’t say Women was taught such and such. That is wrong maybe most maybe some but women makes me believe he is speaking about all Black women. I was raised to be strong when it comes to accomplishing my goals. My man will always be my King. He is my protector and provider. I respect my man to the up most. I will never shout out that I am independant. I need my man… and that doesn’t make me less than a woman…….(maybe I jumped of the subject a little something but that is just my thought right now)
@8
I agree. He is now twisting his previous statement around and then trying to blame the responders for “interpreting it wrong”. Whatever, man.
Good post # 6
LOL @ # 8
He stressed that “Black” Women are raised differently.
Well: FYI, the same Black Momma that is raising her Black Daughter,
Is the SAME Black Momma, that’s raising her “BLACK SON!”
So, I guess that the Black SON is raised “Differently TOO.”
If that’s your claim to your 15 minutes of Fame:
Take it, and ride it all the way to the Bank.
But when we start talking about Serious Relationship and Marriages,
all Kids must leave the room.
i.e., their NOT equipped to handle adult conversation.
GROW UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Stop talking & THINKING like a Stupid: MALE PROSTITUTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
F him!!!!!!!
Point is: black women are so adamant about keeping the ‘black’ but so quick to cut men down. The trend isn’t happening with strength now just because…
Jeez, is he still talking?
CL thinks if they post a pic of him showing of his bod, all the females here will forget his previous statement. LOL!
I don’t get it.Black women are not just the only ones on the earth that do that.Maybe people need to get out more.
This is a grown man who has an opinion. As an adult, you need to be respondsible for the things that comes out of your mouth. For the very things that comes out of our mouths, we’re the first ones to hear. I don’t agree with what he said. And that’s cool. I have that option. My only problem is, I feel like he’s justitying his opinion. And for what. He’s a grown man. If he wants to feel the way he feels then he needs to man up and do it and not give a flying flip what anyone has said about his statements. Those are his feelings and his thoughts. No explanation was needed. Period!
I don’t even dig dude’s raps nor his production but I must admit he was on point when he made that statement. The reason we are leaving sistas for white girls is because they know how to treat a nigga.
And these days snow bunnies are coming equipped with phat asses too.
Chea!
Is he serious about Oprah?!?! Somebody don told this fool wrong! A women does not need a man to be successful nor a good role model… If anything she is an even better role model, because she has gotten as far as she has on her own.
I don’t think anyone cares about him prefering white women (at least I don’t) The fact is he doesn’t have to put black women down to pacify his ego. It’s his lost. He will be running back to a black women when his ass wants some greens and cornbread!
Good points #6 I don’t care who he likes as long as he keeps his mouth shut.
#21 you are ignorant… your name says it all
He looks gay. I think he’s gay. That’s my opinion and I have every right to it. He’s gay.
F*&% that he LOOk good.
He needs to shut the hell up.. How can u pick a Role Model on the fact that they have a man? He sounded 4 wayz from stupid when he spoke on Oprah… All that other stuff was just rambling.. And just like some of u Black men are getting “other” women who know how to “treat you right”, black women would rather be alone than deal with some of your dl, lying, cheating ways..
HELL I may as well say it since we are pumping up stereotypes here! Not all black women are like that, just like not all black MEN are like that.. I rest.
He made a few good points but did we really need to hear anything he had to say? The boy did his thing though. He got people who didn’t even know he existed talking about him. lol. Nice job.
And for the record Polow, Men date Women, Boys date Girls. I guess the fact that you “date girls you like” speaks volumes for where you are on that chain.
“n!ggas and b!tches got mad”. How classy.
He claims that him dating white women was a stage he went through, we he still must be going through that stage because every video he is in he is posted up on some white girls. Tired. Just tired.
Why is this gentleman still relevant?
This motherfucker needs to get his ass kicked for real! “Black women need to get their shit together?” Is he serious? Has he taken a look at all the sorry Black men we have to encounter? Especially being from the ATL, he should know better than that! He is a poor example of what a man is, whether he dates Black or White women.
I wish he STFU he is SO damn ignorant please stick to being a producer sir!
I wanna know how he figures that black women are brought up to not trust their men? That isn’t true@ all! I myself was brought up to let man be a man and that’s by taking care of home and doing what it is that a man is suppose BUT because we have SOME men who aren’t about shit WE as black women have to do what we have to do to survive I myself don’t need a man to take care of me because I was brought up in a single household where my mother taught my sisters and I to be independent BUT we never were brought up in a way that we aren’t able to trust men
If you know you are a good guy and you give me no reason to think you are lying and you are being real then I have no reason to think you aren’t being honest what’s a relationship without trust anyway?
it’s kind’ve like he’s saying that Black Women don’t have the right to be strong and independent or something and that’s dumb we’ve faught TOO hard to be where we are and we are STILL fighting why would ANY man want a weak ass women? The best thing about a relationship is that both of the partners are strong and they both carry the weight and know their positions they a team!
Polow u need a tall glass of STFU!!
I could care less if a black man chooses to date white women or any other race outside of their own. I take issue with his statements because here we go again with black women being cut down and told that they’re not good enough. This man has the nerve to criticize Oprah(who could buy his ass 10 times over) and say that she’s not a role model? Then if a little poor black girl from the South who became a billionaire is not someone to admire, then who is? My white male co-worker reads Concrete Loop and he almost fell out of his chair laughing because he wants to find one of these submissive white women that Polow is talking about because he says that he’s not married to one and he wasn’t raised by one either.
Okay this guy just needs to shut up, he’s making matters worse for him.
And why Oprah has to be put in his business, Oprah is a successful black woman who is doing her best to help many people around the world….what does she have to do with his ignorant statements? He’s tryna make a point but it’s not showing…
Polow, go and put something in your mouth and stay in the studio and keep on making music with our of your recycled tracks, you still ignorant
This piece of nigga trash is just a closet UNCLE TOM. If a white woman made him a house slave, he’d gladly do that.
Oh, and he needs to lay the fuck off Oprah. Oprah Winfrey is a wonderful human being, who’s contributed more to society in 10 years than he will in his whole lifetime. Polow Da DUD, you make a billion and then talk. Keep your silicone breasted blonde bimbo Pamela Anderson looking hoes to yourself. Decent women wouldn’t go near you with a 10 ft pole!
NEXT.
#21, you need a slap in the mouth too! You are probably one of the sorry asses I was referring to earlier, I can tell by your name. ANyway, this guy needs extra publicity too, so let him take it as far as he can until his ass falls off. He just got popular, cause the motherfucker been out for like ten years! ANother thing, White women are so eager to please because they don’t have anything else to do! Black women work, go to school, take care of children by themselves, while white women are always the victim and the damsel in distress, so they are bored…
And what does he mean by black women need to get their shit together? He as a black man needs to get his shit together
“Ladies and gentlemen agreed, n****s and b******s got mad.”
Somebody has told Polow wrong…we really don’t give a damn about him dating white girls, I mean do whatever makes you happy. What people didn’t like is the generalization of him stereotyping all Black women period…he is just so damn disrespectful.
Futhermore, his statements full of putdowns, contridictions, not to mention curse words just show how ignorant and brainwashed he truly is. As I have stated before I feel sad for the brother…I don’t know if he has had his heartbroken intensly by a few Black women or what happened during his childhood but those statements are filled with self-hate and resentment.
Polow I hope you get it together…your statements didn’t do anything but show how lost you really are. The worst thing is he doesn’t even know how he played himself…sweetie just stop talking and seek some therapy, its obvious you need it.
Shut the Phuck up already! He’s simply one ignorant muthaphucka!!! The negative comes not from liking white women…it’s comes from his comparison of white women verses black women. Date every white woman in the world, but don’t make a statement about me and fellow black women such as…”White women are raised to respect and serve their men. Black women are taught to question [their men]. Black women look at submission as being weak. White women look at submission as being a woman. And anyone who has a problem with this statement is ignorant. Just look at the divine order: it goes God, man, woman, child.”
…No Muthaphucka, your the IGNORANT one!!!
WTF…When did questioning a man become disrespecting him? Black women are raised to question NO GOOD men…to respect and serve the ones who respect and serve them back. I’m a black woman and I don’t view being submissive to a man as being “weak”. I’m just not open to being submissive to a WEAK man!
One thing’s for sure…black women have always been the strong, independent type…taking care of family, friends, and men. They don’t need you but rather choose to be with you!!!
This idiot keeps on talking. Digging himself in a bigger hole.
I DON’T CONSIDER HIM A REAL BLACK MAN ANYWAY. THE WHITE WOMEN CAN HAVE HIM!! LOL!!
FOR COMMENT #2 STFU…HE SHOULDNT BE DOWN TALKING BLK WOMEN IN THE FIRST PLACE….SOOO U NEED TO FALL BACC…DUMB ASS
BUT ANYWAYZ FUCC DAT NICCA ::::::SELL OUT:::::
WHY CAN’T HE GET THAT IT IS NOT HIS OPINION IT IS THE FACE THAT HE PLACE ALL BLACK WOMEN IN THE SAME CATEGORY!!!!!!! WHAT HAPPEN TO THE WORD “SOME”????? ONCE HE GET THAT PEOPLE WON’T BE MAD AT HIM. DUM DE DUM DUM
I REALLY DON’T CONSIDER HIM A REAL BLACK MAN. SISTA’S AREN’T REALLY FEELIN HIS PATHETIC/LAME ASS ANYWAYS AND HE KNOWS IT!! LOL!!
Oh enough from this Lame already. As far as I’m concerned…the white girls can have him.
N 4 COMMENT # 21 …..SIT YA DUMB ASS DOWN….::::::::SELL OUT:::;:::::…..
YEAH AND 1 MORE THING 2 SAY ….SISTAS DONT WANT HIS FAKE ASS ANYWAYZ…HE COULD HAVE THEM WHT BITCHES/HOES….THEY WILL TAKE HIS LAME ASS
He should just keep it mute because the more he speaks, the more what he says is all over the place, and the more ignorant he sounds. Black women need to get themselves together in the first place? Where does he clarify this comment? And why is he making such a huge generalization? I could careless if he’s the King/Prince of All White Girls…but when he brings black women into the mix just because he’s an idiot, does not help him clear up the stupid ass generalizations he made a few days ago…And OH LORD @ his Oprah comments…Who cares if Oprah doesn’t have a man? If he knew the history of Oprah’s life and situations that occurred when she was younger, he would know why she doesn’t…A woman doesn’t NEED a man to be successful…He’s incompetent as all hell…Please help this man someone
Sad to say the man does have a point. Especially his comments about Oprah…
he fine as hell, i’ll give him that. but he all f*cked up in the head! no sense in trying to back track now mf!
How does Polow think some black women got that way?
Why didn’t AllHipHop.com ask him that?
He is right about Oprah though. But i don’t think (or rather i don’t know ) any black women who look @ Oprah as a model for relationship success.
His initial statements were to get people talking. His follow up comments serve the same purpose. He even sent out a MySpace bulletin for “feedback,” but I doubt that he really cares. I will say he succeeded.
You know I get the point he is making and I am blk, who cares. My boyfriend is white and you should see how much hell I get because of it and people thinking I am selling out my own race.
ALL I CAN SAY IS, HE’S ENTITLED TO HIS OPINIONS, WHETHER THEY ARE IGNORANT, STUPID, OR JUST HIS PREFERENCE. I HOPE HE’S NOT CHANGING HIS WORD B/C OF THE UNEXPECTED BACKLASH HE’S RECEIVING. I HOPE HIS RESPONSE IS REAL B/C HE IS A FINE MUTHAFUCKA AND I HATE TO SEE ONE BUILT LIKE HIM STRICTLY PREFER VANILLA ICECREAM!!!
If black man does not like black women…Negroes like this Always has to come up with some bullshit excuse to WHY….this is the same Buck dancing droopy faced Negro who bragged about the fellatio techniques of white women…
Note: To the Young Quincy Jones: LEAVE BLACK WOMEN THE FUCK ALONE..
Everybody thinks it’s o.k to diss black women for amusement and I see some of you 17th Century Negros are cosigning in this bullshit…this punk is NOT a sociologist he makes some shitty disposable music that NO ONE will this to passed the month it was released…
YES HE IS RIGHT ABOUT ONE THINK BLACK AND WHITE WOMEN ARE NOT ALIKE… HE”S A HISTORY LESSON ON on the topic of Black women are not submissive like white women
——————————
—————————————————————————-
I wish someone would have told us our “role” when we were on the slave plantation doing the same work as our men…..or during Jim Crow when many of us had to work as maids and then come home and be treated like a man getting our heads bashed in. I wish someone had told us when we were getting bitten by dogs during the CRM..I wish someone use would have told us when black women were being lynching and whipped just like black men…I wish someone would have told Harriet Tubman to be “submissive” and it was a man’s job to tell her when she could free her people..
See he have this “thing” about what black women should be doing, but if they are going to be “roles” then he has to meet his. Yes, I find that people who use “traditional” roles interesting because black folks have NEVER had a “traditional” man –woman role ever in this country. The independence of black women was never like white women, we did not need to fight for the right to work, we always worked and for over 300 years without pay. So how are black women going to have traditional roles when we don’t have a “traditional” history? We did not have stay home mamas in MY neighborhood, they ALL worked. So yes explain “traditional roles” and who or what model are you using for these roles? It sounds to me that you have willing adopted the European American model as if African American and White American woman have the SAME Gender history..Which WE DON”T, NEVER HAVE, NEVER WILL…I am so disappointed & embarrassed by some of the black women on this site…SMH
Most of were taught “a close mouth don’t get fed”. Black women don’t want to dominate black men, at the same time we don’t want to be dominated either, I don’t see anything wrong with that……there are NO other group of people who have the potential to demonstrate who it truly means to be even yoked and you set us back…Well know I understand why sexism in the black community goes unchecked….one reason is that some black women don’t even know they are sexist too.
Had to comment again, if you read CLOSELY in the full interview, he actually praises black women by saying that they have the power to change how some men act. For example, he said if women stopped dating drug dealers, then no man would sell drugs. If they were not attracted to material things, then men would not engage in illegal activity to achieve these material things to impress the women. Not ALL black women are guilty of this, but SOME are.
at #21 you dumb as hell. how bout yall leaving sistas for white girls cause sistas aint having your bullshit anymore. i mean, where else you gonna go? and talk about they know how to take care of yall…pa-lease! when you learn how to treat us and come at us like you got some d@mn sense then we’ll glady take care of you! you gotta earn that though son.
SOME Black women do need to get their shit together just like SOME Black men need to get their shit together. If any female on this board believes that all Black women got it going on simply because they’re “sistahs,” they’re sadly mistaken.
After reading the entire interview I’ve concluded that Polow is confused like a lot of Black men. He wants Black women to be the backbone and solve the problems facing th Black family but he doesn’t put any of the responsibility on the man for helping to create the problem in the first place. No accountability. This is so typical of his generation. Always blame someone else for your shortcomings and lash out at those around you for enabling you. But he’s only saying what a lot of Black men are feeling. Brothers want women to be accountable for their screw-ups because they can’t do for themselves. “I can’t get a job, girl. Why you let me sit on this couch all day?” lol. How about everybody just take responsibility for their own actions?
I don’t get that his mother is Black because he never mentions it. He only mentions how she was born in Japan. So that alone tells me that he can’t provide any real perspective of being raised by a Black woman — only a Black man. Secondly, if his father is Black, and his mother is Japanese, that explains a lot about his mentality also. Having lived in Japan I understand that culture all too well. A lot of Black men who prefer a more submissive and subservient woman will go after someone who’s raised traditionally in that culture. This is probably where he gets his ideas from. A Japanese mother raising a Black boy is totally different scenario than a Black woman raising a Black boy. I’m actually suprised that he’s even speaking on the subject of Black women considering that fact alone. I guess he believes the “drop of Black blood” theory allows him room to talk. lol
How can such a handsome man be so ignorant!!!!! LOL
who cares what he prefers. even if he did date strictly black women, he would still be with the ones that looked mixed or very light-skinned and people would still talk. see when someone like Usher marries/dates an ‘average’ looking women, people diss him and her, but then when you get a man like this dude who basically prefers white women we diss him also. the bottom line is that he has to live with that choice, he has to wake up next to her. the only think I don’t like about him are his comments about black women. there are black women out there who are independent and strong, but will be glad to have a man that takes charge and be the head of the household. the problem is that most men want to be head of the household, but not treat the women in their lives with respect. no women should let a dude come in and take over if he is not respecting her and the relationship. and women are usually on the defense because of past experiences, they just don’t want it to happen again and again so they have their guard up. but if you get a man that treats you right and takes care of business, then a women will gladly let him be the head of the household. I have heard so many times from older women that where the man messes up in their relationship is not with the cheating, but when he neglects his priorities at home.
