i’m not a fan of kanye b/c he seems kind of cocky @ times. however, i must say that he’s been really mature during the promotion of his album. on 106 (a show i rarely watch now along with the rest of BET) he even complimented 50. he’s being a man about the fact that both their albums are dropping @ the same time instead of participating in immature behavior with 50. i also like that he said that the rappers need to start back putting out albums that are a complete package with good songs throughout the whole album and give the fans something more than just an album with 1 or 2 good singles.

The fact that 50 challenged him to a debate is ridiculous. 50 went downhill after get rich or die trying… I’m not a fan of Ja Rule AT ALL, but 50 has really contradicted himself talking about him. All 50 does is SING instead of rap in his songs about absolutely nothing.

When the Miseducation of Lauryn Hill came out I was like “Wow, what a breath of fresh air” It was one of the few times in my 30 years that I felt like a record really spoke to me and was a representation of what a lot of sisters (& brothers) go through in my generation. That album created so much positivity in the music industry that females like Sheryl Crow wanted to work with Lauryn. I mean Lauryn impowered a lot of women especially at a time when you had female’s on records talking about S*cking & F*cking for cash. I thought a real movement was about to start with women in the music industry. Then something switched in her head and rumors of her walking the streets of Jersey quoting scripture, wanting people to call her Ms. Hill at all times and now this……It was funny at first and now it is truly just sad. And I do feel that Wyclef played a part in her downfall….I think he took advantage of her when they were dealing with each other knowing he was married, then wanted to hate on her album when he realized a lot of the material was about him, but I also think that fame got to her in a negative way. I really wish she would get it together because I would love to hear more material from Lauryn on the level of Miseducation. I really hope this sister gets it together, especially for her children’s sake.

I agree with you that 50 and Kanye are on two different levels when it comes to music and their personalities, that’s obvious. That still doesn’t mean one is more intellectual than the other, IMO. 50 came into the industry and applied his intelligence to the business aspect of hiphop, instead of just focusing on being a rapper; which is why he’s so successful @ whatever he does. You may not like him, but you can’t deny he’s a smart businessman.

It seems like the Lord has put a spirit on Lauryn Hill. I don’t know what kind of spirit it is but she definitely has one. All the signs are there: independent thought, independent dress, monologues that are unintelligible to the average person. I’m not sure if it’s a demon. It’ll take more investigation because time reveals all things. Just keep in mind that the Lord had Ezekiel eat feces in front of people (Ezek 4:9-17), He had John the Baptist walk around looking disheveled with camel-skin, eating locusts (Matt 3:4). Maybe she’s eccentric, lol. I don’t know. Expressive people depict themselves in different ways. Plus she’s performing. Even if she was walking the streets with those clothes on sis, people that are dealing with things spiritually will do things that make themselves appear strange because the Lord or Satan is pulling them from the rest of the people. Her clothes are strange to the layman, but believe it or not, some of her attire is reminiscent of how we used to dress. The vest with the fringes, earrings, bracelets, etc (Num 15:38, Ezek 16:10-13). Black people always stand out no matter what we do because we’re the Lord’s chosen. What I notice is that the other races can wear a kimono one day and rocawear the next, a daishiki one day and Sean John the next, a sarong and a damn dot on their forehead one day and timberlands the next, but black people should just dress the same way everyday. Only the other races can celebrate their ancestral clothing and culture. Lol, the funniest thing is that black people are the biggest exponents of that shit.
