THE ROUND UP: DAVID BANNER vs. AL SHARPTON | MOURNING WIDOWER IS MAD AT BRANDY | VING RHAMES FINALLY SPEAKS

A feud between Rev. Al Sharpton and rapper David Banner (yes you read that right) has been heating up the net all week. In an interview with SOHH.COM last week, David Banner told Al to “suck [his] d*ck”; among other things. The Reverend then shot back with his own official response that basically fell short of calling Banner a “faggot”.

In response to Sharpton’s statement, David Banner sent out an open letter via Eurweb yesterday and called out all Black leaders for their lack of action within the community. Read a snippet from his letter after the cut.

Stop Attacking The Kids

To all the black ‘so called leaders’. Al, Oprah, Jesse, etc, etc, etc… I’m saddened by your current direction and current ‘pet projects’ you guys have taken under your wing at the expense of Young Black America. As an urban professional living in this crazy world, I dare ask, who are you leading? I listen to what you say, I hear you complain about the youth, and about the direction of our lives, the kids, and where Black America is going and yet I still ask – who are you guys leading? And most importantly, where are we going? Do we know the goal we are trying to reach before we get there? Have we identified our end before articulating our means to an end! [READ THE FULL LETTER HERE]

Talk about drama. Let’s see what Al is going to say in response to this one.

WHY IS SHE PARTYING WHILE I’M MOURNING?!

The widower of the woman who died in a car accident involving R&B singer Brandy Norwood is mad as hell at Brandy for going out and partying it up while he’s still mourning his wife’s death.

The attorney for Awatef Aboudihaj’s husband, Marquane Hdidou, told TMZ.COM that his client is extremely angry that he sees pictures of Brandy out clubbing so soon after the crash, which happened last December.

A judge also allowed Marquane Hdidou, his wife’s two kids from a previous marriage, her parents and a woman also involved in the car accident to combine their lawsuits into one.

VING RHAMES SPEAKS OUT ON DOG INCIDENT

Ving Rhames released a statement Monday offering condolences over the death of his caretaker, who was mauled by the actor’s dogs at Rhames’s Brentwood, Calif. home earlier this month.

“I was out of the country when this shocking and terrible tragedy occurred on my property,” the statement reads. “Jacob Adams was not just a devoted employee – he was also a dear friend. I want to offer my heartfelt condolences to his family.”

Although Rhames goes on to say that a “coroner’s report confirmed that my dogs were not the cause” of Adams’ death, the Los Angeles Department of Coroner tells PEOPLE that an autopsy is still pending, and no initial findings have been released.

Sharpton has done more for mankind than a lot of his critics. Whatever you think about him, read up on his accomplishments. By the way, what has Mr. Banner done of note? No one ever said “our leaders” have to be perfect and beyond reproach. That is what keep decent, good well meaning people from running for office. Not many people can stand up to the criticisms and scrutiny. I am looking at his overall impact, not on an occasional misstep or misplaced comment. He is the total sum of his deeds, just like the rest of us Mr. Banner.

Mr. Macho wants to give his own autopsy result. A man is dead bro, wait til the report is final before you make pronouncements. You sound like the mine owner in Utah, who emphatically says that, the recent mine collapse was as a result of an earthquake.
This is an effort to influence a potential jury, in case the family wants to go after you for money.

I think that David Danner was right about everthing that he said in letter. I totally agree with everthing that he wrote. They can not blame rap music for the violence that is going on in our communtiy.

I know I am late and my last post was this past Friday but I just have to say, Poster # 165 (JA), what in Hell are you talking about? You DON’T KNOW what you are talking about, and I refuse to continue discussing this with you but before I go. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE read my posts # 146 and # 147. We are talking about two completely different cases. I got the last name wrong but I tried to make it clear it wasn’t the Jenarlo Wilson case where he is still in prison. And what I was referring to was the “rape victim” who Oprah interview for half and hour and she literally cried the entire time but never did a tear fall.

I’m done with you.

@ 205 Ja

You bolded in your response to me WE NEED TO BREAK THE CYCLE. How can we “BREAK THE CYCLE” if these negative behaviors are encouraged from our very own people who have had these same experiences?? You referenced my comments as excuses, but I’m not trying to be forgiven for any actions I have taken. I was giving a preceptive of what’s really going wrong with our communities. We have so many parents that don’t know how to be good parents and I gave examples of people raising our kids. Let me know how many of those you can pull to the side tactfully to teach them how to better raise their kids. No, television shouldn’t be raising our children, but the fact of the matter is that’s exactly what’s going on. Maybe not in your home or in the homes of others that want better lives, but if poor black Americans had the same luxuries as other households in America then we wouldn’t have the problems right?? Yeah you’re talking this “WE NEED TO BREAK THE CYCLE” but you stated “So you’re saying that because these people fail to provide Emotional support to their kids, someone else should change their way of life to make sure these kids are taking care of. That sounds like self pity and blame to me.” So what that says to me is that you don’t feel as an adult you are responsible for setting the right example for our underprivilaged youth. So are your really concerned about “BREAKING THE CYCLE” and if so where are your solutions?? You may not feel responsible for the young black youth, but being a young black woman who has desires of one day becoming a mom, I’m very concerned. Yeah I can raise my kids properly but they still will have to go into the world so I feel it’s my duty to make the world a better place for my kids and others I love.

By the way I didn’t miss the point from The Real Cookie. The point is artists are promoting ficitonal lifestyles for the sake of a dollar and at the same time promoting bad behaviors in our communities. You missed my points and I don’t know if you’ll get them. I’m very firm in my stance. I’m not here to blame anyone for the circumstances and if so please believe that it would not be the artists but our government that has done everything in it’s power to ensure that black America will be a permanant underclass and until “so-called” educated blacks take a stance that’s exactly where we are headed. Our mentalities are so corrupted that we will take a stance for what’s wrong and think we are right, but you know your mind can only fathom the things that have been thought.
