By now you should have already heard about the new Floetry news. Amanda Diva is now on tour with Floetry’s Marsha Ambrosius as a 2.0 act. Word is there is no beef between Marsha & Natalie Stewart (the old poet of the group) but some promoters aren’t making it easy.
Amanda Diva just wrote an entry in her myspace blog about it:
We’ve now hit DC, NYC, & BMORE and lemme tell yall, THEY AIN’T BEEN EZ! Promoters have made me and Marsha’s job extremely difficult by opting to promote a “Floetry” tour (in DC even going so far as to SAYING in the Post that Nat would be performing with Marsha…doozie) and not being forthcoming about the new Floetry 2.0 look. So of course people have been look at me CUUUHHRRAAZZYYY like, WHO THE HELL IS THIS CHICK?!!? But I been keepin my head about me folks and just focusing on these songs and showing the people why this makes sense. You feel me?? Man last night in Bmore a chick was right at my feet and looked me dead in my face and said, “I WANT NATALIE!” daaaagggggggggg…c’mon folks a lil consideration! lol It’s all good though. I knew this was what it was gonna be (of course knowing and living it are two COMPLETELY different things!).

Weeks after Pras spoke out about the Fugees project being deaded, Wyclef Jean also confirmed that the group will not be releasing another album together. Wyclef was interviewed for the new issue of Scratch Magazine and had this to say about Lauryn:
Scratch: What’s going on with the Fugees reunion, or lack there of?
WYCLEF: I’m officially Paul McCartney from the Beatles now. If the Fugees wanna come back, and Lauryn wanna come back…you can’t break the format. Don’t come back and be like, “I wanna produce a beat.” That’s like me saying I wanna sing an R&B vocal. When we was working on the album, I was like, [to Lauryn], “You need to do this like this.” [And] she says, “How do you know what’s relevant? I haven’t heard anything from you in the past like three, four years?” The minute she said that I was like, I gotta go back to working.So what’s ultimately holding you guys back?
WYCLEF:Lauryn is straight up the problem, bro. She wants to be a producer. Don’t come telling us how to chop up beats so you can get credit for it.What makes you think she would take the credit?
WYCLEF:We did a remix [with] Lauryn for John Legend, for the record “How High.” John Legend was saying our names. You know what she had [him] do? She was like, “Take off Wyclef and Jerry’s names.” Because she wanted people to think that she was the one doing the beat…I’m a producer and I’m a beatmaker with my cousin Jerry Wonder, and I’m a writer. ROBIN ROBERTS HAS BREAST CANCER
Robin Roberts, co-anchor of ABC’s popular show Good Morning America, will undergo surgery for breast cancer on Friday. The 46-year-old former newscaster made the announcement during Tuesday’s broadcast.
“I am so blessed that I found this in the early stages and the prognosis is so promising that my doctor expects me to be flying planes and hanging on to submarines in the middle of the Atlantic and scaling the Mayan pyramids in no time,” she said.
Roberts said she noticed a lump on her breast the day she presented a report on the demise of former movie critic Joel Siegel, who died of colon cancer last month.
Roberts, who started her career as a sports anchor, earned three Emmy Awards for her sportscasting work at ESPN. She joined the GMA team as a newsreader more than a decade ago and was announced an anchor of the show in 2005.

Like, I love her and I’ve tried to defend her until the end, but, everybody is not just gonna keep making stuff up about you. At some point, you put it all together and you come up with the fact that she is just difficult to work with and has been for a minute. I never knew how she was personally before the breakdown, but over the last 8, 9 years, sadly she’s just been disconnected from what she gave us initially. Maybe she gave too much too fast. I dunno.
I’m still rooting for her to get it together though, one way or another. Everyone has their own demons to battle at some pint in life, the longer you live, pressure is just inevitable. True artists really are peculiar beings.

I haven’t heard the new Floetry set, but I will say that as much as loved Nat’s soothing, sexy voice, Marsha would seem to be the one who’s irreplaceable. That girl has some crazy vocal skills!!
I guess it’s a matter of chemistry. We’ll have to see what Floetry 2.0′s chemistry is all about, but I bet that if Amanda’s flow/tone are half as sexy as Nat’s, then Marsha can bring em’ home.

I don’t know if this is post-worthy but just to give you a fans point of view on the Floetry Experience. I’m gonna stick up for floetry when I say they did a wonderful job. They came to Richmond, VA yesterday and they were off the chain. I felt a little bad for both sides because everyone wanted Natalie there and of course a devoted fan as myself knew that she wasn’t going to be there. Amanda came out like she had an attitude in which now that I read your post that she was nothing but nervous. As the promoters are out there misleading, people come to a rude awakening. I of course knew of the break up and the new member so I was prepaired. What I was not prepaired for is when they say “floetry remixed”….they meant it!!! Even though to me the show was good, they probably did a total of 3 floetry songs and it was short. They did a lot of new material between them both as well as stuff off Amanda’s mix tape. I know people were disappointed but I wasn’t of course. I got a chance to catch up with Amanda and Marsha after the show and told them that they did such a wonderful job. I tried to get pictures off my sidekick but of course with such an expenive device with a megapixel of .5, it came out fuzzy. She (marsha) was nice enough to take my sidekick and take a self picture of her and Amanda. Such down to earth individuals I wouldn’t mind going to Norfolk in a few weeks to go see them again!!!
I don’t want to stereotype all islanders, but it’s something about them Marley’s. They are a special breed. She got mixed up in the fam and from there she just seemed to mentally and emotionally fall apart. She was so hot with the fugees and then her solo joint was hot. It really disappoints me that all these nonsinging, one dimensional artist come out with records year after year, and she is in a cave somewhere counting rocks.

Lauryn Hill Settles Lawsuit
More than two years after filing a fifty-page lawsuit in a U.S. District Court in Newark, New Jersey, plaintiffs Vada Nobles, Rasheem Pugh, Tejumold and Johari Newton have received an undisclosed settlement from defendants Grammy winner Lauryn Hill and members of her management team and record label.
The four musicians claimed in the suit that they worked on arranging and producing all the cuts on Hill’s Grammy-winning solo debut, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, and requested partial writing credit on thirteen of the fourteen original tracks on the album, with percentages specified in the suit.
While Hill’s spokesman at Columbia Records confirmed that a settlement had been reached, he said the terms are undisclosed, which is typical in such cases.
This does not mean the end of Hill’s courtroom days, however. Bassist Vere Isaac, who worked on the “A Rose Is a Rose” sessions with Hill and Aretha Franklin, filed suit against Hill last year in the Seventh District Court in New York. Isaac states in his complaint that he wrote the melody for the hit single. Isaac has retained Peter Harvey — who represented Nobles, Pugh and the Newtons — as counsel.
