By now you should have already heard about the new Floetry news. Amanda Diva is now on tour with Floetry’s Marsha Ambrosius as a 2.0 act. Word is there is no beef between Marsha & Natalie Stewart (the old poet of the group) but some promoters aren’t making it easy.
Amanda Diva just wrote an entry in her myspace blog about it:
We’ve now hit DC, NYC, & BMORE and lemme tell yall, THEY AIN’T BEEN EZ! Promoters have made me and Marsha’s job extremely difficult by opting to promote a “Floetry” tour (in DC even going so far as to SAYING in the Post that Nat would be performing with Marsha…doozie) and not being forthcoming about the new Floetry 2.0 look. So of course people have been look at me CUUUHHRRAAZZYYY like, WHO THE HELL IS THIS CHICK?!!? But I been keepin my head about me folks and just focusing on these songs and showing the people why this makes sense. You feel me?? Man last night in Bmore a chick was right at my feet and looked me dead in my face and said, “I WANT NATALIE!” daaaagggggggggg…c’mon folks a lil consideration! lol It’s all good though. I knew this was what it was gonna be (of course knowing and living it are two COMPLETELY different things!).

WYCLEF SAYS LAURYN IS THE PROBLEM
Weeks after Pras spoke out about the Fugees project being deaded, Wyclef Jean also confirmed that the group will not be releasing another album together. Wyclef was interviewed for the new issue of Scratch Magazine and had this to say about Lauryn:
Scratch: What’s going on with the Fugees reunion, or lack there of?
WYCLEF: I’m officially Paul McCartney from the Beatles now. If the Fugees wanna come back, and Lauryn wanna come back…you can’t break the format. Don’t come back and be like, “I wanna produce a beat.” That’s like me saying I wanna sing an R&B vocal. When we was working on the album, I was like, [to Lauryn], “You need to do this like this.” [And] she says, “How do you know what’s relevant? I haven’t heard anything from you in the past like three, four years?” The minute she said that I was like, I gotta go back to working.So what’s ultimately holding you guys back?
WYCLEF:Lauryn is straight up the problem, bro. She wants to be a producer. Don’t come telling us how to chop up beats so you can get credit for it.What makes you think she would take the credit?
WYCLEF:We did a remix [with] Lauryn for John Legend, for the record “How High.” John Legend was saying our names. You know what she had [him] do? She was like, “Take off Wyclef and Jerry’s names.” Because she wanted people to think that she was the one doing the beat…I’m a producer and I’m a beatmaker with my cousin Jerry Wonder, and I’m a writer. ROBIN ROBERTS HAS BREAST CANCER
Robin Roberts, co-anchor of ABC’s popular show Good Morning America, will undergo surgery for breast cancer on Friday. The 46-year-old former newscaster made the announcement during Tuesday’s broadcast.
“I am so blessed that I found this in the early stages and the prognosis is so promising that my doctor expects me to be flying planes and hanging on to submarines in the middle of the Atlantic and scaling the Mayan pyramids in no time,” she said.
Roberts said she noticed a lump on her breast the day she presented a report on the demise of former movie critic Joel Siegel, who died of colon cancer last month.
Roberts, who started her career as a sports anchor, earned three Emmy Awards for her sportscasting work at ESPN. She joined the GMA team as a newsreader more than a decade ago and was announced an anchor of the show in 2005.

I’ve never heard of the group Floetry. What do they sing? The Fugees need to just let it go. Why do the old Artists not give the NEW Artists their time of fame? I mean they’ve had their time. That breast cancer story is just awful. I’ve known 2 black women to die this year alone of breast cancer. What is really going on….

I wen to the first show that kicked off the tour in Boston. I think the reason why audiences are giving Amanda such a hard time is because it is being promoted as Floetry… which in everyone’s minds is Marsha and Natalie. If promoters would be real about the situation, I don’t think people would be giving Amanda such a hard time. The tour is being falsely advertised. With that said, I too was under the impression that Natalie would be performing, so I was one of those people who looked at Amanda like “Who is this chick?” LOL. And I was disappointed, not b/c of Amanda, but b/c of the way promoters duped most people into buying tickets for the show. I guess they thought if they were straight up about it, then a lot of people wouldn’t have come out to see the show…. After I realized what was going on, and got over my initial disappointment, I got really into the show. Marsha’s voice is AMAZING, and Amanda did her thing… she didn’t try to sound like Natalie or emulate her style, which is what I loved the most. All in all it was a good time, but I’d be lying if I said that I didn’t wish it were the real Floetry with just Nat and Marsh….
@53… Floetry (remixed) have a ton of new music that they perform on the remix tour. They only performed 4 songs that were originally done by just Nat and Marsh. “Say Yes, Sunshine , Getting Late and Butterflies……”
I went to the Richmond, Va. show and I thought the show was very nice. the problem was the people that came to the show. We as people need to realize that life goes on and i don’t feel we gave the love that we should have if not for amanda at least for marsha. They held it down though can’t wait for there new cd

i dunno why but i’m really reluctant to even trying out the “new floetry” or floetry remixed or whatever. it’s not the same. if ur gonna change half the group…change the name too. amanda diva strikes me as corny. just based on what i’ve seen of her on vh1. she could be a brilliant lyricist but for some reason i just can’t listen to her.

Look not to sound really crazy and all but I’m tee’d OFF ? What is really going on? Is it’s a rumor or better yet something I saw with my own eyes? I know Floetry or better yet Flo-a-flop performed in the Dallas area on Aug 6th at the House of Blues…Exciting right? Not!!!! Who the heck is going to be singing? I heard the announcement on your radio about the concert and being the fan that I am I bought my tickets asap front row Box Seating ($122.09). But hold up a few days later I heard that Floetry broken up and the concert would involve this new member some host chick from MTV (which I hoped was a RUMOR). Now don’t get me wrong I know things happen but DON’T mislead the fans!!! I wouldn’t waste a dime on anyone but the ORIGINAL floetry group members. I think a public announcement and apologize should be ready if this Monday coming the people I paid to see aren’t performing. Look I’m stressed about this cause I don’t like many recent groups I’m more laid back young lady who enjoys old school like Altantic Starr, Marvin Gaye, Earth Wind and Fire, Patti Labelle, and Deniece Williams . But Floetry caught my ears and eyes from the start….Well I’m saying this all to say I spent my last dime on this and my account is screwed!!! Because I purchased the tickets, Then returned them cause of this RUMOR, and bought them again. Only because I’m was hoping with was all wrong just a typical RUMOR.
