It’s been long enough hasn’t it? After 5 years, R. Kelly is finally going on trial for 21 counts of child-Pornography. Aww sh*t:
The criminal case against R. Kelly, which has been pending for five years, is finally headed to trial. At a hearing in Chicago on Wednesday (August 1), Judge Vincent Gaughan said Kelly’s trial will begin on September 17.
“As Robert [Kelly] said many times, he believes in our system of justice,” a spokesperson for the singer told MTV News. “He is looking forward to finally having his day in court. He’s confident that when all the facts come out, it will be clear he’s not guilty of any crime.”
Kelly was charged with 21 counts of child pornography in 2002 (seven of which were later dropped) for allegedly videotaping himself having sex with a girl prosecutors said was 14 years old at the time; he pleaded not guilty…
If Kelly is convicted of the charges, he faces a prison term of up to 15 years and a fine of up to $100,000. read more

Melanie is sticking to her guns and I think that engagement might have edged it more. The former Spice Girl held a press conference yesterday with her lawyer Gloria Allred, accusing Eddie of not stepping up:
Allred, who claims that Murphy “has not paid one penny of child support” for the former couple’s daughter, said she plans to ask the court to award child support and “to decide what is reasonable.”…
“Murphy was promising to do the right thing, but to date he has not done the right thing,” said Allred. “Mr. Murphy can have all the babies he chooses to have, but his responsibility needs to be to his own children. [Brown] is seeking sole physical and legal custody.”

Whatever happens, Eddie should minimize pain and hurt for his baby. That baby is his own flesh and blood and her should take it into his fold. Ummm…yeah, so Eddie Murphy won’t acknowledge that the child is his own, and so far WON’T pay child support. I highly doubt any court would award him FULL custody under those circumstances, which is what I was originally referring to when I responded to Knutman. Eddie Murphy doesn’t establish precedence with his other kids because 1) they don’t dictate how his relationship worked with Mel and the baby he had with her and, 2) It’s obviously a different situation because Eddie acknowledges his other kids and so far has refused to even SEE his baby with Mel B.
Yeah, I really don’t see a custody hearing working in his favor, especially considering that Mel B is already a very fit parent who’s just as financially capable as he is. VISITATION is one thing; unless he was abusive it would be very hard to revoke his visitation privileges But custody? Exactly, I agree, and that’s all that Mel B wants. Like she said in that last magazine interview she did, she doesn’t want Eddie anymore. As she put it he had too many “lifestyle issues” that, in hindsight, probably would have needed to be worked out. And she’s in a new relationship herself. Julieisadime. I am not onesided. Rarely is there one side that is completely right. Not sure where you’re coming from, I am far from a saint. And frankly my spouse has nothing to do with this.
It is from experience, as I stated been there done that previously, being a child, a single parent with a dead beat and lastly a wife and mother that I have come to this reasoning.
All decisions have consequences. I just really hope for us Black women we start/continue to make better ones. Frankly, money doesn’t take the place of growing up without a parent. And money doesn’t heal a broken heart. I’m outta here

I hear you sister. I don’t know what to say in reply. I have a mother and father who devoted large amounts of time and resources to my upbringing so for me personally, I would be wracked with guilt to abandon my own flesh and blood.
Anyway, truth be told, the story is not fully out so one can not really come to a complete conclusion yet on who was at fault in the relationship. But lots of issues in this one. Mel is a modern day feminist. In human and primate history males have always dominated and run the show. This partly explains why we had so many wars etc. But then again, men fight over women so women contribute to the conflict. Women gravitate towards alpha males. It is natural. Only problem is it makes the non alpha males horny as hell and bitter as f*ck. Feminists for all their talk of equality want to right to do what they want which is to chase alpha males like Eddie. Women can not resist it. But there is a cost and Mel will pay it.. Men are also struggling. Sex is the ultimate reward for any mammal on earth. That is what we are programmed for. Of course thanks to a highly evolved brain, we can resist this ancient and all too often overwhelming force to spill our seed carelessly. But this force has and will prove time and time again too great for any man. You show me a man who has never cheated or at least been very tempted. And we brothers have more of a libido than our white or yellow cousins which makes matters worse. I’m not making excuses. If a baby is born, the father has to support the rearing of the child and give massive love.
But we men are weak things ultimately… and that will always be the case. Perhaps the solution is to legalize the harem and polygamy so all these cheating men can bring in the mothers of their illigitemate babies into the family.
