THE JENA SIX

Tuesday, August 14, 2007

Last fall in Jena, Louisiana, the day after two Black high school students sat beneath the “white tree” on their campus, nooses were hung from the tree. When the superintendent dismissed the nooses as a “prank,” more Black students sat under the tree in protest. The District Attorney then came to the school accompanied by the town’s police and demanded that the students end their protest, telling them, “I can be your best friend or your worst enemy… I can take away your lives with a stroke of my pen.”

A series of white-on-black incidents of violence followed, and the DA did nothing. But when a white student was beaten up in a schoolyard fight, the DA responded by charging six black students with attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

It’s a story that reads like one from the Jim Crow era, when judges, lawyers and all-white juries used the justice system to keep blacks in “their place.” But it’s happening today. The families of these young men are fighting back, but the story has gotten minimal press. Together, we can make sure their story is told and that the Governor of Louisiana intervenes and provides justice for the Jena 6.

God, gave us all the ability to think and choose, if that wasn’t true then temptation and the Devil wouldn’t even be an area of discussion. When we see wrong we should try to make it right, in this case helping to fight injustice. Don’t forget that when Jesus was bearing the cross, someone stepped up to helped him carry that cross as he was making he way through the city. And if I remembered correctly there was also a person who wanted to be put on the cross in his place. Those are the people who went against the mob mentality and stepped up to help someone else because they saw the cruelity of it.

One last Bible story, remember the town where God turns everyone but a family into salt? Before he turned the people to salt he did give them a chance to redeem themselves. Well isn’t that what Jena is? The town- JENA, the Chance- The protesters-the people banding by signing petition, writitng letters (to the governor, DA, mayor, media) and going to the city to support the families, the Salt- if they don’t change when it comes for Judgement time God will handle it.

Not using the Bible:
You can never wipe out racism out because racism comes from fear. A town like Jena of less than 3000 people is one of those towns that still fear, their mentality is we’re better than them- whites rule. It’s one of those towns across the country that no minorities would ever want to be stopped in. I live in NC, they have little town here too, towns where I make sure that my tank is full because I don’t want to have to stop.

The difference is the year is not 1960, we’re in the world of the internet and where minorities are no longer uneducated and meek, it’s not easy for racism to go unnotice. It’s the good vs evil fight, God vs Satan.

What side will you choose to fight on or will you choose to sit on the sideline?

This is sick. Our poor generation has no black leaders to defend us. After MLK died that was it for us. Like earlier post stated where is Jesse, where is Al, too busy fighting for things that aren’t important. This petition is great, as we can all see it’s gonna take all of us to come together to fight. We don’t have time to wait for he famous names to do it.

@ Judah, what makes you think I can’t grasp anything because I value man’s word over the Lord’s Word? That’s laughable. lol. My love for the lord has nothing to do with the question I asked you. I simply asked you what your solution was. You went on a tangent about how blacks always want to please the white man. You’re obviously stuck on that facet of the white man and the role he plays. I’m not. I’m not even suggesting that we concern ourselves with the white man. I’m asking what we, as a Black people, can do to solve the issues that we have. You speak of doom. You speak of despair. And you essentially cannot offer a solution because you feel that anyone who doesn’t share the same belief in the existence of Christ Almighty as you do is relegated to hell and a lack of entry into God’s paradise.

If your answer to my question is simply this: Nothing, because you don’t beleive man will survive if they don’t share your views, then say that. But don’t act as if you have answers when all you have is rhetoric that will not and cannot apply to the entire world since the entire world will not and cannot share the same beliefs as you do.

Great! I mentioned this in a post/comment on the Mike Vick story. And on a similar level black people are still public enemy No. 1 things haven’t changed much and if some of you believe it has then let me say “not fast enough”. I’m not mad at folk who just don’t get it yet, because there is a widespread ignorance that exist in our society (within our race). Not everyone will get it, so the ones who do we are responsible for pulling the rest. Thus, we get to our responsibility in helping out the Mike Vick’s and Mike Bell’s (in Jena and in NYC) we have to be there for them in whatever way we can. In numbers we are a powerful race. And whether you enjoy living under the radar sort of speak one day its going to pick you up and your reality will change like many of our brothers and sisters. Then what? It will be too late, that’s what??? Why are we waiting for this to happen to us, our immediate families, etc. We need to address this (choice word) today, right now, matter of fact yesterday.

Like many of our kind we just talk man I’m tired of talking, Right now I’m teaching and there is a difference! But as for talking about what we need to do lets sit down and put that plan together to do it.

And for the record I grew up on rap when it first came out Rap is not the culprit to our children’s demise, it’s the demise of the black family. It’s way too easy to point the finger at rap music. They did that when rap started and look at the millions of dollars that industry produced. Not saying that some of the things that are being produced today shouldn’t be discussed in terms of the dangerous messages being sent to our kids. But in all rap is not our biggest problem. We should focus on the foundation of the problem, while saving those that are being attacked on the front line.

@67 I wit you on the plan get at me, if you are serious lets talk (helio219@excite.com)
@101 we need to roll together, word.
@109 one thing at a time but I feel you
@133 Right on point, but Judah I too like your energy and thoughts we should roll
together as well.
@137 At the end of the day we all still have a great deal to learn.
@143 Hilarious

In the end and I’m sure many of you don’t want to hear this but the reason we don’t have any change in the world is because we don’t stand up for (choice word). What haven’t we done yet to get our point across to those who still insist on unfairly treating our kind? We are going to have to take our justice and eliminate those who insist on trying to stop us. How much of our blood spilled on those boats that carried slaves, thoses stages that supported those auctions, those fields from our people picking cotton and get whipped, etc(the list is too damn long)? How much, B4 our people where put into bondage/slavery. So guess what we haven’t done yet? We haven’t spilled enough of their’s to make it clear to them that those days are over and we are not going to stand for it today, tomorrow or any damn more.

This is a shame but addressing # 5 the south is not the only place where racism is I had an experience in a Savannah Illionois where the white people followed me around a grocerey store and asked if they could touch me. The only reason you hear about racism in the south is because black, white, hispanic and ervery other race live in the same areas, whereas up north whites can be by themselves with no other race and trust I’m in the military and there are plenty of all white towns where no people of color are that are more racist than the south. I have been ignored in restaurants in these towns ,refused service and any other stupid act they could do while in uniform protecting their right to be stupid. This is not just a Southern problem it is an American problem. Traveling to other countries helps you see that when you leave USA, you are either American or not. So why do we define ourselves with color barriers think on it, and let’s wake-up.

Judah you talk a good game but in reality the moors or black jews there were only 400,000 the other’s that made up the 5.6 million moors were inhabitants of Africa. So the Africans did in fact sell their own people into slavery, as for the other things you said America was built by slaves from the indians, to the blaacks, to indentured servants that were European ie white. The past cannot be changed but stop spewing bible scriptures when not just America put the whole planet will be judged and on that day they will open the book of life and whosever name does not appear will be cast in a lake of fire. It’s not a direct quote so don’t try to tell me where to find it and how it really goes. I’m from the south and if we don’t know anything else we know the bible, and when the slaves song the old songs like swing low sweet chariot the majority of those were signs that an escape was coming and where to meet.

It’s not only the south, its all over the USA! Only difference is that white people in da south don’t hide there feelings. Personally i like it like that so i can no my enemy. I’m from Birmingham, AL which used to be the most racist city in the world. Times have changed in this city definitely like a Black Mayor, Police Chief, Fire Chief , School Administrator, etc. Black people in B,ham will NEVER forget what we went through so that type of shit would never jump off down here! Our main problem is that we are #4 per 100,000 people in the nation for MURDERS! Behind Gary, Ind/ Detroit and Flint, MI. Wake the hell up black people please.

The same thing that happens in the south happens in the north; just on different levels. Racism doesn’t sequester itself so let me first say that we have to stop looking at problems from a geographical standpoint. It’s much bigger than than.

I’ve read almost everyone’s comments and find enlightenment in a lot of what’s been said on here. But the truth of the matter is that most of us are powerless because we only get feverish when there’s a flame. It’s the whole jumping on a bandwagon thing that disturbs me. Now, I’m not taking anything away from petition signing because I’ve signed my share of petitions too. But that in itself is not enough to cause real change in what’s going on in the world.

For starters, I think people have to be personally responsible for their own actions. Understand that for every action there is a reaction and a consequence. You can’t make people be anything other than who they are and who they want to be. But you can change yourself. If you hold yourself to a high standard, fight for the right causes, take a stand against injustices (and not only when everyone else does) then that will be a catalyst for change. If enough people thought that way and stopped waiting for the next man or the next woman to do something, we could get a lot further. Some people are always crying out for Sharpton and Jackson because some people are not leaders within themselves and they are constantly looking for someone else to lead them.

Racism will never dissolve as long as classism, sexism, and all the other “ism”s exist. One feeds off of the other. Racism is merely a struggle that’s promulgated by class issues, which are promulgated by sex issues, and so on. To eradicate racism is to eradicte to the world. To eradicate racism means that we will all share wealth equally, we will all treat each others justly, we will all respect each other’s values. IMPOSSIBLE HERE ON EARTH. We, the human race, are too dIvisive in terms of theoretical and theological beliefs, moors, psychological make-up and historical backgroundS to ever form a commonality as it applies to race relations. Simply not possible! The world is too complex for any person to believe that they can only survive (in the afterlife or otherwise) if they believe what everyone else believes, worships what the next man worships, and so forth. A bigger issue at hand, for me at least, is to minimize the effects that racism, classism, sexism, etc has on my everyday living and to trust that my personal relationship with God is one that keeps me knowing that I am protected, regardless of what the world tries to throw at me.

I love the fact that those students defied authority and didn’t wait for someone else to tell them what to do. As a whole, more Blacks need to think this way in an everday struggle kind of way. Whenever possible, don’t wait until you have a gang of five to step to someone that has wronged you. Just step. A consequence will always follow but a greater consequence is not doing anything at all and being exactly where we are today, which is technically nowhere closer than we were seven hundred years ago.

Let me just say that this is a very serious topic and black people really should not be censoring each other. Our problems get censored enough in the mainstream media. Let people state their views and we can build from there.

@158 Common Sense or Dat’s Da Truth or Whoever

Brother you proved that you can’t grasp the Word of the Lord in your last two posts. If you believe in the Bible like you claim, then you’re supposed to ask me, “what does the Bible or Christ say we’re supposed to do?” You didn’t do that. In fact, like all nonbelievers, you got OFFENDED when the scriptures came out. The Bible is not something you go to after you finish doing whatever the hell you feel like doing. I cannot comprehend how in the hell you believe in the Bible but you want a man to give you HIS solution for a nationwide epidemic. You sound stupid. You wouldn’t, if you were intelligent, ask a political leader to make a decision without referring to constitiutional law or some form of legal judgement, so why would you be an alleged believer in the Lord but ask a man for his solution, lol. At the end of the day like I always say, we don’t have to agree. People attack my views because they’re perplexed that I can articulate my “ignorance”, lol.

Man’s survival has nothing to do with my views. Our people take everything personal because they don’t know how to think. The “democracy” of America has convinced our people that their opinion matters when it doesn’t. That’s what the problem is. Let me ask you something; do you think the black man and the black woman are going to grab up guns and take down the white man? If I’m infatuated with the white man like you and others claim, then who do you think you’re trying to be “equal” with? Maybe I should be a coward like alot of these other black people and say “they” and “them” instead of just saying “caucasian” and “white”. Black people are already viewed as equal, allegedly, according to constitiutional law, so I don’t know what the hell our people are striving for and I don’t think ya’ll do either. The only thing that I can deduce is that you want the white man to love you because you can’t love yourselves or each other. Blacks saying that they want to “be equal” is like an Olympic sprinter training for a “10 way tie” so that no one has to lose and be offended. It’s asinine. We have to ask ourselves why the other races come here to America, have basically no representation in the higher levels of government, nor do they really lobby for any, and still supercede the blacks and hispanics.

I was not shocked to hear that this is still going on in America nor was I shocked to see that main stream America has not aired IT’S dirty laundry.

We as black people have gotten so comfortable with the little bit that we have that we fail to acknowledge what we truely do not have. JUSTICE

We are hand feed by white America to believe that we are better off now than we were in the past. Some can look at it as yes we are, and others can challenge that response.

We as African decendants need to change our thoughts of ourselves before we can truely get White America… (We continuosly say white America, but there are many etnic backgrounds that look down on us)… to change how they perceive us. When are we going to prove to them that we are better than what they perceive us to be. WE are PHENOMENOL and that is what scares them and with education behind us it scares them more.

We have more love in us than they could imagine. But we became blinded, blinded by the BLING, the cars, expensive clothes just a few things that people present to the world to show that they are somebody.

We as African decendants are a great people and this shows with the responses that were presented. I was impressed to see positive responses with so little cursing that showed a side of intelligence coming from us.

@100% are you a man that defends injustice? I choose not to ask if you are a black man or a white man. With this remark it appears you are. With a response like that I can say you appear to be IN HU MAN.

I see a lot of people asking for Al and Jesse. They are main stream media. They utilize (USE) black issues to make themselves look good. They are where they have always been, behind the White curtain waiting for someone to pull it open so they can perform on their stage. You do not need false preachers to represent TRUTH.

Side Note: We need to start with ourselves and our children, turn radio stations, turn tv stations. Lets build us up and show them we have long past earned your respect, now we demand it. Not just from White America but from those that glamorizes how to disrespect us. ARTIST! Free speech What happened to the FREEDOM that our ancestors died for.

@165 Keylow

No disrespect to you brother, but I’m not going to strive with you about the lineage and heritage of the Moors. I have my books and information, and you have yours. What you said really didn’t make any damn sense. When you study the medieval period, the blacks that controlled Europe always had people of the other nations that made up a certain percentage of their armies, like all races in power do. I’ve seen studies written by so-called historians that tell you that the Moors were caucasian, lol. It depends on what you’re agenda is. If your agenda is that the Moors were Africans, thusly the Africans sold other Africans in slavery, thusly the white man is not at fault, and thusly I can fight for him and put my life on the line guilt-free, brother do you. Isn’t your silly ass fighting a war that you cannot justify for a race that oppresses you right now? Here you are talking about how you cannot, IN 2007, get service in certain restaurants but you still put your life on the line, lol. To each his own. In regards to the Bible you’re the 4th person that alluded to the Bible but expressly said, DON’T QUOTE from it, showing that it offends you because you’re of Satan. I have more respect for an atheist than these halfway, sideshow niggas that sit in a damn hot ass church but don’t believe what they’re being told. Whatever duke. The one thing that you did say is that you don’t know a damn thing. Most black people in the church don’t know the Bible, so cut the nonsense. How the hell would the slaves singing “swing low” be strictly about an escape from the plantation when they sang it almost everyday? No disrespect but the majority of black people are still on the plantation, lol. That song was an allusion to what’s known in the church as the “rapture” because our ancestors had a greater understanding of the Word of the Lord than you and your church. You don’t know what you’re talking about brother.

The crux of the matter is that you’re offended because you’re a soldier for the U.S military and I said that the Lord will judge this land. Not only is the Lord against this land, but he’s against your armed forces (Isa 34:2). You need to humble yourself before the victim of one of these road-side bomb attacks.

In regards to the “Jena 6″, cases like this make me wonder how many hundreds of cases around the country are hid from mainstream media outlets by local media.

@Tammy, not to call MizzLiz out but I think she’s Hispanic- she said that she signed the petition and forwarded to her friends, You know I’m Asian from the whole ebony magazine post, and I also signed that petition, wrote a letter to the governor, sent it out on myspace-with the bulletin “read it, understand it, sign it or delete me as your friend”, and sent out an email, I know it’s little compare to what other people are doing, but I do support the fight against racism. What’s wrong with us banning together? We banned together to run the underground railroads and to protest with Dr MLK?

@Judah- you’re articulate as you say until someone pisses you off, you and I have also exchanged some words in one of these post. I was curious about your views until you started attacking me racially. After that, you lost my ears. You may say to yourself that you don’t care because I’m not black, I say “whatever man”.

You’re right to say that people have their own interpretation of the Bible and the books they read. In all you wrote, I got the reason behind the struggle and the history but not the SOLUTION. Should we just accept that we’re damned on earth?

No matter how to cut it to me racism comes from fear and hate. Fear that someone might be better than you and hate because it could be true.

Asian people have a bad habit of eye balling everyone funny, when I go into an Asian store they look at me funny too, most older Asians are nosey people. Maybe it doesn’t bother me because I know this so I don’t feel that it’s racism, if you feel that it’s racism then you should say “fuck you” to them and walk back out. You don’t think that racism is a problem that everyone should be working on? You think that it’s only a black thing? @180

I get pissed off when people try to lie to me. I get pissed off when people try to tell me to do things because everyone else is doing it, not because it’s right. I’m not trying to gain your ears miss, I think that’s why you’re so confused. I think that other races are so used to black people deferring to them, that they get confounded when they get rejected. In regards to MLK, most of the black people that claimed to support him were agents that conspired to have him killed, much less the people of the other races that allegedly supported him. Charlton Heston partook in various civil rights marches and he’s an ardent racist and isn’t scared to say it.

In regards to what the Bible says the solution will be, we’re already in the midst of that solution. Bear in mind, I’m not saying that black people shouldn’t strive to succeed. We have to live. From Genesis to Revelation, the scripture details that the Lord wants things done and maintained in an orderly fashion. The story of the Tower of Babel illustrates that the Lord does not want the races to intermingle amongst each other to a high degree (Gen 11:1-9). That’s why America is known as “Babylon” or the “daughter of Babylon” in the Bible because it encourages all races to come here, whether forcefully or willingly, and become confused, and either forsake or forget their true history and lineage like the original Babylon did (Psa 137:8, Jeremiah 50:33-37,42, etc.). America will continue to engage in their phony “War on Terror” and will eventually engage the Iranians (Isaiah 13:17,18, Jeremiah 51:11,12). In the midst of all this, America will also try to wage a war with the Sudanese in the guise of helping the people in Darfur. In reality, the powers that be in America want the oil. They could care less about the Sudanese or their plight. Russia will become involved and it will result in nuclear war (Isa 51:6, Ezek 38:1-6, Zech 14:12, II Pet 3:10-12, etc.) That is why these armies of the world are gathering in Iraq, which in the Bible is known as the Valley of Jehoshaphat (Joel 3:12). That is where the armies that will all be fighting each other, will turn to fight against Christ and the angelic forces (Rev 19:19,20).

What blacks and hispanics have to do, as the Lord’s chosen (Deut 7:6, Deut 14:2 Deut 28:68, Deut 32:8-10, I Kings 10:9, etc.) is prepare themselves for what is going to happen. They have to stop celebrating these heathenistic, pagan holidays like Christmas (Jer 10:1-5), Thanksgiving, Halloween, and Easter, which are all designed to worship Satan, not Christ. We have to keep the commandments to the best of our ability and the Lord will bless us in return. We refuse to do that, and that is why things like the “Jena 6″ continue to happen in our communities. (Deut 28:15-68). Our people don’t understand that the Lord snctified us, meaning SEPARATED us, from all people because we are a CHOSEN race of royalty (Deut 14:2, Isa 44:1, II Cor 6:17, I Pet 2:9). That’s why everyone takes and steals from us and yet hates us with a passion (Jer 50:6,7). That’s also why Christ said that he will SEPARATE the races, because he will gather the children of the interracial unions, like yours, and re-sanctify them (Matt 25:31-33)

In regards to you and the other races, you will be put into slavery when Christ comes back for the role that you’ve partaken in our condition (Psa 149:6-9, Isa 14:1-3, Amos 9:12, Zeph 2:8,9, Rev 2:25-27, Rev 13:9,10, etc.). You will rebuild our true land, Israel, for us, which will have been destroyed in the nuclear holocaust (Isa 61:4,5, Ezek 36:7-12, 32-36). For all the people out there catching feelings, take it up with the Most High and Christ because it’s already written. Also ask yourselves why there are more slaves in the world right now, in this age of “freedom”, than at any time in history.

Hello, I was reading the back and forth between Tammie and Noeatingheretonight. Ok, first off, Tammie, did you fall asleep during Black History Month? As I remember they had different races helping Harriet Tubman run the underground railroad, remember the Quakers. Similarly, what about the two Jewish Americans that gave their lives during the Civil Rights Movement? Have you heard of SNCC and CORE, look them up they will give you some insight on the cooperation of between the races. Look, I am not trying to come down hard on you or take sides, but you can not condemn someone simply by their race, or just say they can’t help because they don’t understand your ancestors struggle. Let’s replace white racism with black racism.

Who am I? I am a born and raised BLACK Louisianan.

As for the comment about Black History Month, it plays an important role in to your reference to your comments about certain outside races not being able to relate to the struggles of African-Americans. After reading the comments between you and the Asian poster, I felt that you were misguided in your thinking that no other race was helping our ancestors in secret, at great risk to their lives. However, I am sure that you are a well-informed black sister, as I am a well-informed brother, and already knew of the contribution of other races to our struggle. After all we all know who is the only race arrogant enough to make us believe that no one wants to help us; and what race is that ? I don’t need to say any names.

Last time I checked anybody who was not white was a minority, and that included Asians, Blacks, Hispanics, etc….

Side note:

Although minorities may be different physically, we were all effected in some way by WHITE colonialism, and for anyone to deny that is foolish indeed.

Ok, I’m not responding to anyone else’s post (nor have I read any of the other posts) or am I necessarily responding to this incident but I need to make my peace and say what I wanna say.

We have such a messed up idea of what racism in this country. The simple idea of the white racists and Black victims is not always true. People boil complex racial issues down to the simple white racist and Black victim dichotomy. Blacks to are racist, and this never seems to be addressed. When any issue Black/white issue comes up (as has this issue) people can only think that it is whites being the racists and Blacks being the victims.

Racism in the US is very complex and cannot be simplified the way it has. The reporter from this video seems to be from the North (from his accent) and obviously has no idea of how things (esp. racism) are in the South. Racism goes both ways. Is it not racist for your momma to tell you to never bring a white boy home because you want to marry him? I hear it all the time from Black parents, but let a white person say that and they will be labeled a racist and a bigot. We like and prefer our own people. I’m not saying there is anything wrong with that, but everyone needs to realize that we too harbor racist sentiments.

I think the core issue is the self segregation that goes on throughout the US. The whites no doubt self segregated themselves under that tree, while Blacks also self segregated. Blacks love self segregation. I went to a majority Black high school (in the South) and for the most whites and Blacks kept to their own groups, except for the white kids who “acted Black.” We would ridicule the “white” white kids to the point of making fun of them to their faces and being rude and excluding them when we did things. Now that I am out in the “real world” and away from my little Black majority enclave I realize how much Blacks are responsible for our own problems. By failing to be friendly and hospitable to those white kids in high school, I was only furthering the rift between whites and Blacks. I think high school is the most shining example of this because the two groups are forced together and interacting on a daily basis.

While I am remaining largely silent on this Jena 6 issue I think that certainly the self segregation that goes on throughout the country certainly played a part in the incident. Ok, I’ve said what I wanted to. Peace.

Who are you and why are you here?

I am a NATIVE BLACK Louisianan, and this issue effects me on a personal level. I am here because this issue affects all BLACK Louisianan. As for your reference to me believing that every race wants to hold African-American hands and sing “Comebaya’My Lord” (hypothetically speaking) that is just silly.

Every day I work with other races that go out of their way to help African-American causes in this State. Yes, Tammy there are people in this world that just want to help despite their color when they see the need. Also, I am one of the many African-Americans that are not selfish enough to refuse the help based on the other person’s skin. I cannot sympathize with your distrust of other races, or certain races you feel do not understand our struggle, I refuse to let that fear and distrust (racism) cripple me.

Moreover, this is my last response to you, because I refuse to start a personal cyber war, so I will end this discussion.

Peace Out

This is interesting, what religious sect do you practice Judah? I’m curious because different sects teach slightly different interpretations of the worlds written in the Bible. I’ve gone to many different churches, mainly to experience it, can’t say that I don’t like Baptist if I’m never been to a Baptist church.

Anyways all your scripture referencing got me curious. So I started looking them up. I started with Jews are the chosen people because I’ve always that that God can’t have a preference in race if God created us all. I came across Romans2 28-29-KJV, where it talks about how you may be an outward Jew but if you do wrong then you’re not an inward Jew. That to be God’s choosen Jew you have to be it from the inside in your heart and spirit and to believe God’s word. Also Romans3 29-30 talks about how God is not only the God of Jews but of Gentiles. Romans 4 talks about how Abraham is the father of many nations and that the people of Abrham before he accepted God, will be also be accepted by God- this must cover all the people who didn’t know of God to accept him-Buddiest, Hindis, Indegneious Tribes, etc. If Abraham is the father of us all, of many nations then whose to say that the nations doesn’t reach to East Asia, Australia, S.America, etc.

Anyways, this is very interesting and it shows that there are many interpretation to every book. Judah for all your faults you have opened my eyes to read the Bible a little more closely for myself. I don’t believe what you believe but because all your scripture referencing got on my nerves, I know more now than I did yesterday.

I’m shocked that this type of racism is still going on in this day and age. I will sign the petition as well. I wish racism would end for good but I don’t see that ever happening any time soon. But first before that happen we have to erase the racisim within our own race. After reading some of the comments posted about what’s happening in Jena I can tell we still have a long way to go.

I agree with everything you posted #190 I went to school with racial lines set up the same way with similar racial problems. Also, #187 I understand where your coming from and know all about SNCC. I had older family members involved with them a while back. Have you looked at this link on them http://www.ibiblio.org/sncc/issues.html

Tammy..lmao… Egg-roll chewing ass…hmmm.. that is true- I do like egg-rolls. Deep fried to golden brown. what can I say about you..hmmm..just ignorant.

you know the sad thing is…when I was younger, the black kids were the nicest to me- they didn’t make fun of me like the hispanics and whites. Most of them knew how it’s like to face racism and people who don’t like you for absolutely no reason. So in many ways I felt a kinship with Black people because history says they had to handle it all their lives. Kindred spirits, we would ban together, fight together.

Stop posting to me Tammy- be at peace with you and I’ll be at peace with me.

Tammy I never said I was praying for you. I don’t think you’re a bad person that needs prayer, we have deferring views that’s all there is to it. You think racism towards Blacks should be fought only by Black people, I think racism should be fought by all. When I said be as peace with you- I mean just that be at peace.

Either she/he is playing around or she/he has a serious problem. Then again maybe he/she is not of the kinship that NOEATINGHERETONIGHT describes. Either way all three situations results to ignorance. In high school my teacher defined that word as “a knowledge that should be there” meaning that everyone should have. Tammy because of your postings i feel as if I can’t address you as a human far-less a sister (whom i deem deserves up most respect) yet you should understand something since when in your life have you never accepted someones help. Help in the most extreme sense or the least extreme sense (say someone holding the door for you). If people are sincere in providing you with help then you should let them help. Of course they can’t walk for you or fight for your every cause, they may not even understand your cause but if they are willing to, let them. Black folk have had help since we been in this forsaken country. The creator guides us to love everybody even your enemy. Love everyone Tammy. Futhermore this forum shouldn’t be about lashing out on people who are sharing views relevant to the issue (JENA 6). We need solutions to being better as a whole to act as a whole and fight as a whole.

It’s time for people to realize this ain’t slavery times anymore. And we as blacks aren’t walking aroung afraid of the white folks anymore. Those people that are trying to give those young men unnecessary harsh treatment need to remember this: There IS a GOD. He sits high, but he is definitely looking low on this matter. They’d better watch it because God is not pleased. It’s time we become unified. But if division is what they want, they need to realize that won’t be a very pretty thing.

To Lynn, JQUEEN, and Dre_Sincere, PREACH, PREACH, PREACH. We need to listen and pay attention. NOTHING HAS CHANGED!!! I work in an office and I am the only BLACK FEMALE. I see the racisim everyday. Loans being given to the white people that HAVE money, investestments, ect. to start their business or to get their business back on track. They have their own money already, but don’t have to touch it and can let it sit and make money, while the borrow it from the bank to do whatever. Credit reports can be bad, they still get the loan. They lend $$ to the people that don’t need it!!! They lend to their friends, and take care of each other. They lend to “who they know” and to “they are good people.” They really like to say that phrase. We have one loan to one black business ower. He has an engineering company and a car wash. They want him to move his business because his financial status is not up to their standards, even though he pays the loan FAITHFULLY every month, and on time. Racism? Right in my face.

I feel so bad for these young aspiring men. The white man doesn’t want us to succeed and is doing everything they can to hold us down. But like the other posts say, we HAVE TO BEGIN TO STICK TOGETHER. We are special, and the white man knows it and is scared. The only thing they have is “their law” that keeps us confined, still in slavery. Just like Michael Vick, I’m not going to say what went on is right or wrong. But he is on trial simply because dogfighting is ILLEAGAL, according to the white man, and so since the government did not get their share of the winnings, then Vick had to make a plea deal with the government. The government? Dog fighting? But the white man can kill all the deer during hunting season. We gotta listen and pay attention.

BE SURE TO PASS THIS ON TO EVERYONE. I KNEW NOTHING OF THIS UNTIL THIS WEEK AND THAT IS SAD. THE MEDIA IS NOT COVERING THIS. PASS THIS ON AND LET’S MAKE OUR PEOPLE AWARE OF WHAT IS GOING ON. I DID.

Who are the most racist? It’s not the blacks……it’s not the Mexicans, or the Italians. It’s the whites. The whites are the WRONG ones and the brutal and violent ones. Black people are the way they are because of the white men have done to them. Blacks have every right to be mad and angry. Being mistreated because the color of your skin is plain IGNORANT.

wah wah wah.the reason blacks in america cant thrive is because they are so caught up in what happened 100 years ago.stop complaining.get jobs.raise your children.co operate with the police.stop with the whole “woe is me shit”.my family came here in the late 1800s and they were treated like shit.they worked hard and got out of poverty.they didnt wallow in their mire.in boston the poorest section is roxbury.in the 1890s the irish moved in.worked hard until they had the power to elect some of their own into political offices.then they found work and actually kept the jobs for years earning enough money to move into better parts of the city.next came the jews who did the same thing.opened businesses and worked their way out of the poor part of town and into better situations.then the african americans came (with JFK election) and they have been stuck in roxbury and mattapan ever since.unemployed, under educated, addicted, fatherless, letting eveything around them go to shit and complaining its because they are black the whole time.why dont you all get jobs.have real families with moms AND dads.teach your children respect.keep kids under 18 off the streets after 11pm.these things alone will cause less violence.stop blaming everyone else and step up and try to be real americans instead of perpetual victims of your race.its getting pretty boring listening to the same BS excuses for 50 years.

#214: Queenbee:

Being the only sista in the office, just be sure to stay on your “p’s & q’s”. I’m sure you are, but here are a few pointers:

1) Watch the “dynamics”- This means, watch who’s-hanging-with-who. Watch the interactions. However, with white people, they can tear each other apart in the conference room and go have drinks afterwards, so you have to be very careful about who you can trust, which doesn’t seem to be anybody. Also, DO NOT tell ANYONE your personal business, b/c that’s the first thing they ask for. Your best defense is if they can’t figure you out. If you do, keep it vague.

2) Fight quietly- This means DOCUMENT and keep a ‘Hush’ file. I don’t know what capacity you work in with your loan office, but it seems as if you come across the files of those who are given loans who don’t qualify for it. If the paperwork clearly indictes a disparity between the loan amount and the applicant’s salary or net worth, as well as, a vague justification or a weak one told to you, girl, you better start keeping that ‘hush’ file.

Because if it all goes down, and I certainly don’t wish that on you, you’ll have evidence. Also, If they say something racist to you, just write what they said, along with the date and time. When you’re moving on to bigger and better, or if they try you, you’ll be ready.

3) Learn the system of operation- Read your employee handbook from cover-to-cover. Then get to know your Personnel/HR people and how positions are changed, how the money is determined, and the reasons that people are let go. Don’t ever give them a rope to hang you with.

4) Learn the business and then start your own- If you’re going to make friends, then make it work for you. Keep a Rolodex and network with the clients you bond well with. That way, once you start your own, then they may decide to go with you. If you like the business, and are looking to stay in it, then ask someone to be a Mentor. Deal with the love affair of being able to ‘teach’ you something and get as much help as you can. When they accept you, you’re in. Then, use it to be a blessing to black business owners, who have their stuff together, like the man you listed above. Who knows? Maybe he’ll be your first client.

Anyway, sorry for rambling. I’ll just close by wishing you the best in whatever you decide to do.
