THE JENA SIX

Tuesday, August 14, 2007

Last fall in Jena, Louisiana, the day after two Black high school students sat beneath the “white tree” on their campus, nooses were hung from the tree. When the superintendent dismissed the nooses as a “prank,” more Black students sat under the tree in protest. The District Attorney then came to the school accompanied by the town’s police and demanded that the students end their protest, telling them, “I can be your best friend or your worst enemy… I can take away your lives with a stroke of my pen.”

A series of white-on-black incidents of violence followed, and the DA did nothing. But when a white student was beaten up in a schoolyard fight, the DA responded by charging six black students with attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

It’s a story that reads like one from the Jim Crow era, when judges, lawyers and all-white juries used the justice system to keep blacks in “their place.” But it’s happening today. The families of these young men are fighting back, but the story has gotten minimal press. Together, we can make sure their story is told and that the Governor of Louisiana intervenes and provides justice for the Jena 6.

They also meet in the parking lot of the Tanger Outlet Mall in south Georgia on Sunday afternoons. And on your way to or from Georgia by way of Florida you can see a house in Americus, Georgia where their is KKK spray painted all over it.

Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are busy running around trying to get certain rap lyrics banned. Maybe they haven’t jumped on the case because no one is paying them to. If you want Al Sharpton’s or any other so called black activist’s help, you have to show them some green. For the sake of the people, you would think that these “black leaders” would speak, rally and march for free.

That school system should be punished for not taking any of that seriously. They let it go on for so long. Someone could have gotten killed. I mean this could have turned into another Columbine-type situation. I actually commend the black students for keeping their cool for so long.

If some shit like that happened in Southeast Michigan, we’d never hear the end of it. Plus, I would like to think that none of the judges here are crazy enough to make a ruling like that. Attempted 2nd degree murder? Conspiracy? What the hell is going on? There’s something really foul going on there!

What’s sad is that it will never get better, only worse. White people still hold the power to do whatever they want. There should never be a “white tree” Segregation has been long gone, therefore anyone can sit under that tree.

Racism is pure ignorance, and for 100% you must not be black to think that this doesn’t effect you. It effects us all. We all have had our run ins with racism in one way or another.

Young Black males the target of small-town racism

Jesse Muhammad
Final Call Staff Writer
reposted from finalcall.com

JENA, La. (FinalCall.com) - Marcus Jones, the father of 16-year-old Jena High School football star Mychal Bell, pulls out a box full of letters from countless major colleges and universities in America who are trying to recruit his son. Mr. Jones, with hurt in his voice, says, “He had so much going for him. My son is innocent and they have done him wrong.”

An all-White jury convicted Mr. Bell of two felonies–aggravated battery and conspiracy to commit aggravated battery–and faces up to 22 years in prison when he is sentenced on July 31. Five other young Black males are also awaiting their day in court for alleged attempted second-degree murder and conspiracy to commit second-degree murder charges evolving from a school fight: Robert Bailey, 17; Theo Shaw, 17; Carwin Jones, 18; Bryant Purvis, 17; and Jesse Beard, 15. Together, this group has come to be known as the “Jena 6.”

I am utterly disgusted, but what in the hell made us think that discrimination was dead? Racism is alive and well. African Americans are STILL one of the most hated groups. And because the foundation of family is dead, Our young people are caught up in this THUG fantasy and we remain uneducated, underachievers we are headed right back to the fucking plantation. We fought so hard for equal opportunity yet and still we settle for less!

This is why we have to start with the music. We are always going to feel Jim Crow’s hand when we go down south but we have to start with us. Until all the racists die off we must make the change within ourselves. Thats why when people think I’m “hating” on songs like “Ay Bay Bay” and “Crank Dat”. This bull is not bettering us as a race. White people on the outside looking in are like “There they go again…fire up the truck and grab the ropes!” We look like some common day “Step-N-Fetch Its when we do shit like this. I’m not saying every song on the radio has to be empowering, but at least have the decency to let our children hear proper english, and when they hear you, aspire to be great people no matter what path they take. I have don’t have enough time on this earth to hate, but I would like to see change before were gone.

When are black people going to learn that the south hasn’t changed? Just because they took the “whites only” signs down, doesn’t mean the minds of white southerners has changed.

_______________________________________________

The problem is so many black people out there do not care unless it affects them personally and we’ve got to get past that. Nobody cares about these events UNTIL it happened to a family member or a close friend, then we all want to get self-righteous and holla for justice. We’ve should have been looking out for each other and react by protesting, writing letters and demanding respect and rights…and not look to idiots like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson. They are not for us…they are only into leadership for fame and the limelight.

It is not just in the south…it’s all over this country. The difference is that you can’t tell who your enemy is in some parts of the land because they pretend to be your friendly unlike those Southern Caucasians who let you from jump that we don’t like your kind and you’re not welcome here.

Nothing has changed…those KKK garments have been traded for police uniforms; Political/CEO Taylor made suits and Judge robes and have been dispersed all over this country. Please do not be fooled by stating that it’s only in the South. True- the racism and hate crimes are more common in the South but it still exists everywhere.

I pray that these families, communities and anyone else who was affected put their trust in God and have strength to defeat all things that are against them.

First I would like to Thank Angel for FINALLY! posting this story that I brought to her attention weeks ago. As a Jamaican Canadaian women who still resides in Canada, this has effected me deeply. I LOVE BALCK PEOPLE SO MUCH. That the comment 100 made is beyond is left to be desired. This effects every black person around the world. Imagine, this is happening in the US and I have probably taken more of an approach then the comment 100 made. As soon as I got wind of this story I emailed it to every single person in Toronto that I know who is in the media, entertainment, journalism etc. I have also emailed Walter Reed who made the comment to the black students that he could “end their lives with the stroke of a pen” I told Mr.Reed he better Watch Out. Sign the petition and contact the governor in Jena DEMANDING a formal investigation with Walter Reed and that he looses his JOB!!

I am in contact with Alan Bean who is in direct contact with Mychal Bells family. I have contacted Al.Shrptonns office and spoke to one of his colleagues. Both he and Jesse JAckson were to go to Jena or a rally I believe they were having.

The fact that the Black race is the most HATED is an indication that there is something PHEMONENAL about us. When people hate there is an underlying issue fo fear. Fear about us finding out exactly how MAGNIFICANT we are. We need to rally pull it together and be united as it was intended for us to be. We are to divided. Black people have demonstrated exactly how intelligent, brave and courageous they are. Can you imagine what damage we could do to the world if we all stuck together.

Comment 100 this should affect you, he is one of US and he could serve 22 years in prison. He will be 39 when he is released. Just imaging how much the world is going to change within the next 4 years let alone in the next 22 years. You should hang your head down in shame for saying that it is not your problem. If I am from Canada and I care enough so should YOU.

It’s so sad how down here in the south (miami) this black news is not getting any coverage by news stations. They have not mentioned the murders of the newark kids and if I had not looked at concreteloop today I would have not even known this had happened. Where’s Al Sharpton? He raised hell when someone made an ignorant joke about an outfit Beyonce had on but it seems like when real stuff goes down it flies right past him. David Banner was right.

That is a shame coming from a black high school student.

I live in Mississippi and I have never had a problem like that. Some people assume that Mississipi and other southern states are just scary places but they are not. A lot of white people may not have anything to do with us, but they don’t get out of line. i go to high school with a majority of white and they aren’t disrespectful.

This is why we need to stop being so darned focused on making other people rich and spending our money on meaningless crap (cars, clothes, etc) and focus on getting our education so that we can own businesses, become lawyers, and etc.

We comment on this, but what are we willing to do other than sign some petition? Surely, someone knows a black attorney in Louisiana who can rep these families for free?!? We can all pay for it. If everybody gave just $1, as a community, we can hire top-notch attorneys for these families. We just have to make sure we find someone with the right heart, the right motivation for getting involved, and someone with the right character and integrity. I am willing to locate the attorney and start the fund if you’re in agreement.

We need more of a plan. (i.e. to start businesses in Jena ( on the low) and hire local blacks to empower them financially; and etc) than just a sit-in. For the situation being what it was (the tree), the sit-in was something, but I think it’s telling that a 60’s response was used in 2007. We’ve got to do better and raise our level of thinking.

I’ve said it on many posts before: You better recognize the times and stop acting like you don’t know Jesus. It’s time to get our lives in order and get saved. If we don’t know our authority in Christ Jesus, slavery will happen again. Why? Because we cannot continue to shut out God, who got us out of slavery and out of Jim Crow. Again, I know that all Whites are not racist. There are good and bad apples in every bunch. But, it makes me mad when anyone thinks they can just hit the Black community and we don’t hit back. But, it also makes me mad when I see young black kids act so darn dumb. They can’t speak, can’t spell, can’t think for themselves. It makes me mad when I see and hear Black parents cursing at their kids, buying them the world but teaching them nothing about hard work, saving money, or investing in their kids financially; women being treated like trash by Black men, Black parents not demanding the best education for their kids b/c we are too busy slaving from 8-5pm, instead of starting AND SUPPORTING our own businesses.

We have got to stop being our own worst enemy. What are we, as an online community, willing to do for this situation? What are we willing to do to change the negative words we speak towards one another (unconsciously) and the negative thoughts in our own lives?

I know I’m ranting, but stuff like this makes me mad as fire…

Exactly # 63, As African Americans we fail to realize our potential, We are more than capable of being doctors, lawyers, scientist etc. But for some reason we think that the only way to be successful or become rich is “quick money” or make a song about doing a “2 step”, smokin weed or shakin ya azz.

I agree with #49, Rap music plays a large part in what is poisoning the minds of our young men and women. Smoking weed, selling drugs, “getting hoes” has been glamorized and because there is NO positive influence in the home, nor strong role models rap is raising our young people to be nothing more than DEGENERATES!

Life does not have to be about the STRGGLE or the HUSTLE life is about giving all you got to be more than what you may have come from. I would rather work 9-5 everyday on my job instead of standing on the corner selling POISON .

WAKE UP BLACK PEOPLE! if we contiune to settle for less, ish like this will continue to happen!

Hmmm… so many issues here. There are thousands of black high students in the US… why aren’t they ALL in Louisiana protesting this? Or at least sending letters to the school’s administration? Why isn’t this on the news every night? Why is CL reporting this and not Essence, Ebony , Jet and Black Enterprises? Why are Kanye, 50 Cent fighting over money and not over this? Why isn’t this on Oprah, her website and her Magazine? Tyra stop featuring superficial racial shit…here’s a real story. Why aren’t HBCUs and Black Fraternities and Sororities posting this on their webpages? Where is Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson? Barack Obama… you want the black vote…RISE TO THE OCCASION! Time to rally together people!!!! I’m tired of seeing black stars come out to all kinda charity events and not out to the shit that matters! This is a celeb blog and I hope that they read it and get their act together. YOU, WE, EVERYBODY are all in positions of POWER if only we will band together! Situations like this will happen, there will always be racists among us, however, our unity and our action are what will keep it to a minimum and ensure that justice, real justice is served.

“And because the foundation of family is dead, Our young people are caught up in this THUG fantasy and we remain uneducated, underachievers we are headed right back to the fucking plantation. ”

——————————————————————

Though I can understand why you feel this way, I would have to disagree with what your saying about our youth. We love to diss these babies yet we do nothing to give confidence or even push these kids to do right like what we had. We don’t want to be like our Mother’s and Grandmother’s who was harsh/mean and would beat the as hell out of us for doing wrong yet would tell us what to do, what is right and wrong and how to make a living. And with every generation that has passed, we choose to not repeat those beliefs and values that put in us. Instead parents choose to be their children’s friend instead of being a discipliner and an example.

Though of SOME our young people are behaving inappropriately we still have many youth who are trying to do something positive and productive with them selves. Society will have you believe that our youth still remains uneducated and underachievers yet the high school and college graduation rate are increasing, especially in the South by at least 36%. True- that number seems small but in 2006 it was 24%, which shows we are making progress. Nothing comes instantly.

The issue is no one is encouraging these children to do something with themselves so they turn to televisions to imitate the “THUG fantasy” as a role model and gangs for some type of affection. That is because our mothers are out there working day and night just to keep food on the table who doesn’t to tell her child to do better that what he or she has accomplished. And we all know that the majority of these kids home are from a single parent, whether is be one mother or one father so there is only so much they can do if they’re at work all the time.

I am not trying to change you mind about the youth of today, I am just asking that try to relate to SOME of these kids situation. If you do like what you see, take a challenge to make a difference. Reach out to those kids in your neighborhood. Join a Brother/Sister club or any volunteer groups that involves youth. Encourage instead of criticizing and know that you made an effort.

Bill Said:

In his May 18, 2007 story, Mr. Witt tells of an incident that happened at the local high school in Jena where black students decided they wanted to sit under a tree whose shade had been reserved for white students only for years. When campus officials gave their blessing to the students request to sit under the tree, a series of events began that have apparently launched the town into a downward spiral.

According to Mr. Witt’s article the following events have occurred since the initial action by the black students last September:

* The next day three nooses were hanging from the tree
* Once three white students were identified as having hung the nooses on the tree, the school superintendent suspended them for only three days. (The principal had suggested expulsion). The superintendent felt the nooses represented a “youthful stunt.”
* Fights broke out at the high school between black and white students.
* Unknown arsonists set fire to the central wing of the school (November)
* A white youth beat up a black student who showed up at an all-white party
* another young white man pulled a shotgun on three black students at a convenience store
* A group of black students at the high school allegedly jumped a white student on his way out of the gym, knocked him unconscious and kicked him after he hit the floor (December)
* LaSalle Parish district attorney, Reed Walters, opted to charge six black students with attempted second-degree murder and other offenses (for their involvement in the above incident).
NOTE: The white youth who beat the black student at the party was charged only with simple battery, while the white man who pulled the shotgun at the convenience store wasn’t charged with any crime at all.

http://www.whileseated.org/photo/003244.shtml

In September 2006, a group of African American high school students in Jena, Louisiana, asked the school for permission to sit beneath a “whites only” shade tree. There was an unwritten rule that blacks couldn’t sit beneath the tree. The school said they didn’t care where students sat. The next day, students arrived at school to see three nooses (in school colors) hanging from the tree.

The boys who hung the nooses were suspended from school for a few days. The school administration chalked it up as a harmless prank, but Jena’s black population didn’t take it so lightly. Fights and unrest started breaking out at school. The District Attorney, Reed Walters, was called in to directly address black students at the school and told them all he could “end their life with a stroke of the pen.”

Black students were assaulted at white parties. A white man drew a loaded rifle on three black teens at a local convenience store. (They wrestled it from him and ran away.) Someone tried to burn down the school, and on December 4th, a fight broke out that led to six black students being charged with attempted murder. To his word, the D.A. pushed for maximum charges, which carry sentences of eighty years. Four of the six are being tried as adults (ages 17 & 18) and two are juveniles.

The D.A., perhaps in response to public pressure, tried to get Bell to cop a plea. Bell refused, and today, jury selection began. After today, we’ll know whether or not the case will be tried in front of an all-white jury. Jena’s 85-percent white, and it remains to be seen whether or not the six can get a fair trial.

Both off-the-record and on, Jena residents told me racism is alive and well in Louisiana, and this is a case where it rose above the levee, so to speak.

In the next few days, I’ll be posting a few photos from Jena that are related to the case, as well as linking to a multimedia piece I’m working on. CNN began reporting on the story today, following the lead of the BBC, who crafted an excellent hour-long documentary that can be found on P2P networks.

Update: Mychal Bell, the first of the Jena Six to face trial, was found guilty of aggravated second-degree battery and conspiracy to commit the same on June 28th. A comprehensive look at the case, the trial and the verdict was published on July 2nd at friendsofjustice. Plus, Democracy Now did a full story. Oh, girl please!! Them young boys could sit under the tree if they freaking want to. Its black people like you who will except any and everything the white man tells you or give to you. Didnt you not hear how a group of white kids jumped a black student or how they hung three F**kin nooses from the tree. The white boy was racially taunting the black students. They have every reason to revolt and beat his ass. When are black people going to revolt and let loose. Stop letting white people gain control and power over you.

It kind of makes me wonder how strong are ancestors really were. Im not saying they werent but I still question it. If they were so strong, do you think many of us would be in this so-called “Land of Freedom and Equality”. If they were really that strong, how come The african slaves didnt revolt like the haitains did, and break free of this wicked country. Why when the white man came to Africa, the Africans didnt unite and fight together to keep the white man from robbing and raping our land?

Stuff like that makes me wonder and think. I keep having to ask myself these questions knowing full damn well I wont get any answers. How can I? Nobody likes black people but they continue to rob our style, language, culture, etc…

We keep letting people do it to us, but in some of the minds of black people, its ok. Letting people take advantage of us. They are doing it right under our noses but some of yall wont wake up and smell the injustice. No wonder why so many of us are angry and filled with rage at the white man. Some say to get over it but we cant because of sh*t like this. Then what is makes it so confusing and disturbing is the way black people revolt against each other. You would think the way the way blacks be killing each other all time, it was as if we are ones who enslaved our own ancestors, lynched, raped and beat them. Yall fools killing the wrong people. Yall need to take your anger out on the white man. Just get rid of their asses once and for all. They destroying the damn world. Damn, why cant yall see that.

Bill Said:

African American Slaves DID revolt !
In particular, the person that comes to mind is NAT TURNER

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slave_rebellion

North American Slave Revolts
Numerous slave rebellions, and insurrections took place in North America during the 18th and 19th centuries. There is documentary evidence of more than 250 uprisings or attempted uprisings involving ten or more slaves. Three of the best known are the revolts by Gabriel, AKA Gabriel Prosser, in Virginia in 1800, Denmark Vesey in Charleston, South Carolina in 1822, and Nat Turner at Southampton County, Virginia, in 1831.

Another example of slave revolts is that done by Nat Turner a slave during the early 1800’s who lead a slave revolt in Southhampton, Virginia. Turner who was a natural preacher lead a small revolt of some 40 slaves and before being caught was able to kill some 55 white slave owners. Though the morale of the average slave may have raised a bit, among the white southern population it only raised fears of other slave revolts and made them resent and distrust the slaves even more than they may have already.

#78 I completely understand what you are saying and I dont mean to come off as someone who is bashing youth of today. But I speak as someone who works with youth predominantly low income African American Youth. I see it as my personal goal to be a positive influence in the lives of all the youth (red, yellow black or white) that I work with on a day to day basis. I also speak as a young man who grew up in some of the roughest neighborhoods in Jacksonville Fl, I also speak as someone who grew up with negative influences all around me yet I chose not to be the product of my environment.

I come from a single parent family. My mom raised 3 children by herself and worked hard to keep food on the table and a roof over our heads, so coming from a single parent family may be a factor in some behaviors but it is not the defining point of who you are as an individual.

African Americans especially African American males do not understand the roles that they play in our society. There are already a number of strong-holds and stereotypes against us because of our skin color but when you factor in drop-out rates, how we are the highest number of any race in the prison system and so on and so on, WE (African Americans) are setting ourselves up for failure!

I know Bill, but I want to know why are we still here. We dont belong here. This isnt our country. These asswipes dont want us here but we still here. Why didnt the slaves that revolted, pick up and go back to their land? Well I guess that is pretty impossible since Africa is what 10000 miles away across the ocean.

Still, its not just Nat Turner, You got people like Harriet Tubman, threatening to kill other slaves because the slaves themseleves were so mentally broken down, they didnt think they deserved to be free. They wanted to work for their “Master”. Think about it. It takes more than a couple of people to want freedom, everybody has to join in. Our asses still aint free. White people especially in the south still treating black people like its the early 1950’s-60’s. Its like we are not angry or outraged enough thats why white people still act the way they do.

what’s sad is that no black celebs reallly do much to help ‘us’ out

#56 (Shan):

I’m not tryin’ to put you on blast negatively, but to use what you said as an example of the type of thinking that we have to change. Stop looking to the ones you think have ‘made it’ as some type of savior. There’s only one Savior. At any rate, the ones most of our young people follow are selfish and greedy at the core. They’re only thinking of themselves and how they can take your money.

To everyone:

We have to adopt the type of thinking that will help the Black community as a whole. Believe it or not, the small decisions you make financially, educationally, etc. everyday affects us ALL in the long-run. You think you can’t do anything to help?

Here’s 20 things you can start doing TODAY:

1) Get saved and bring God back into your family as the head of your lives

1a) Judge yourselves, and how you act and behave, fairly and objectively.
Then change. Be people of good character and integrity. Make a stand for living right.

2) Get your education and tell your relatives to do the same.
Do NOT let the young people in your family quit school or walk around talking, acting, and looking stupid. Call them out and then teach them what to do.

2a) Challenge yourselves, and your circle of friends, to change the way you speak, act and look.
If you are not sure, ask someone who is speaks proper English, how to pronounce a word; Ask someone, who dresses well and is successful, how to create a resume, how to interview, how to dress for work, and how to conduct yourselves in a work environment. There’s nothing wrong with humbling yourselves to ask for help or use the Internet. We don’t all know how to do everything, but the information is out there. There’s no reason why you can’t get it. Don’t be a Proud Fool.

3) Learn how to speak proper English, learn how to read, write, spell, and count properly.

4) Learn how to THINK for yourself and make wise decisions

5) Spend your money wisely.
Invest in the Black businesses that are doing well. Stop buying so much meaningless crap. Give your kids a mutual fund for Christmas instead of a darn video game or a cell phone.

6) Stop speaking negatively over fellow Black Americans and start realizing how powerful your words are.
Speak positive things over your children. They are not ‘bad-@$$ed kids”. If they are, it’s your fault. They’re acting just like you. Stop cursing at them, discipline them and be a parent.

7) Learn and understand how non-blacks think and operate. We could learn a thing or two from what has worked for them, especially concerning finances and entrepreneurship.

8) Learn the rules of the government and corporate system we live under and work in. When you know the rules, you will know how to play.

9) Teach our young boys how to be real men. Teach our young girls how to be ladies.
Teach them how to value and love themselves and our girls. Teach our girls that they don’t have to look like a stripper to get attention. Teach them both self-esteem and to close their legs. Stop allowing our kids the freedom to have sex with just anyone they choose. Teach them to love themselves and to wait until they are married. NO MORE TEEN PREGNANCIES.

10) Start a ‘family’ business, but be wise as to who is involved. (See #15)
All your relatives may not be able to work together. There’s always one greedy fool in the bunch who will get mad and try to cause drama for everyone else. Choose family or friends who understand that their sacrifice now will benefit EVERYBODY in the long run. All of you vote on ONE CHIEF, who will be fair, and have EVERYBODY’s best interests at heart. Then, all of you pick a lane and stay in it. It doesn’t diminish your importance, but if you can recognize that one finger affects the power of the whole fist, you’re on your way to building a legacy for the families involved. You’ll be able to teach the young ones the value of hard work, entrepreneurship, reaching back to help somone else up and the value of a dollar. You will also give the younger generation the gift of a CAREER instead of a job. Then, you use the proceeds from the business to buy land, buy a new business, and etc. (REINVEST IN what you’ve built.) Don’t just take the money and spend it on a bigger house or car. Invest it in something that will make money for you when you are asleep. They’re called ‘Income Streams’. Don’t let the business or a job be the only egg you have in the basket.

11) Band together and cut your costs.
If you’re going through rough times, or want a way to get ahead, it may be time for family or friends to make a decision to live together under one roof. Remember, that you’re doing it for everyone to get ahead and it will not last forever. Get organized and assist with chores, childcare, carpools, and have family meetings to make household decisions. Brown bag that lunch and find cheap ways to have fun (The park will be your best friend! Family picnics are the best!) Finally, SAVE YOUR MONEY, especially an emergency fund. This is what you’re doing it for.

12) Buy yourself some land–both commercial and residential.
There’s still plenty available in the US. Also, buy land in the Caribbean (i.e. Dominican Republic, Virgin Island, etc.) When you possess the land, you can make the laws.

13) Utilize the KYMS Method of Business: (Keep Your Mouth Shut)
This means: Keep your business to yourself. Stop braggin’. Then, ole’ Uncle Tom won’t have anything to tell.

14) Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.
It’s always good to have friends of other races and cultures, but you don’t have to tell them your business either. Be evasive, but learn as much as you can about what they do, how they do it, and how they keep it, while you’re on the inside. If you have the opportunity, ask if you can be their apprentice (this means you learn the business–KEEP IT LEGAL!). If they say yes, work hard (first to arrive, last to leave) and learn the biz from top to bottom. Network and build a relationship within the customer base already built. Then, start your own. Even with “our cousins”, don’t tell the ones closest to you, all your business. Sometimes your own family, or those closest to you, will be the ones holding the knife to stab you with. Pray to God and ask for discernment about who to trust.

15)Look for business or career opportunities in fields where everyone has a need (ie Electricity, Fuel, Water, Food, Health, etc.). Then do it better than your competition. Then, they can’t help but support you. This will definitely work in smaller cities or communities.

15a) If you’re in a smaller city or community, you may not be able to band together with your family. Band together with certain members of your community (Remember, KYMS–no Uncle Toms and no fools that can be bought), and endeavor to own a business that offers a service that everyone will buy and as much land as possible. While you’re doing that, start a community effort to vote out the racist Tax Commissioner, Police Chief, District Attorney, School Board members, and replace them with people who will be a friend to the Black community and the local church.

16)Get involved with your local and state politicians. (See # 14 & 17)

17)Give to the causes for your local police and let them see your face as a supporter. Start making trips down to your local police precinct or start chatting up the local officers. (See #14) Once they know you as an upstanding citizen, then they won’t mess with you or will come to your neighborhood and clean the riff raff out. Ultimately, you may not believe me, but if you support them with some of that hard-earned money from your business, you’ll have a voice in their administrative decisions.

18) Lose the Crab-in-a-Bucket mentality. (This is for those of you who have carved out a nice living for yourselves.)
Stop acting like House Negroes and recognize that you’re not where you are for your own greed. You are there in order to be in a position to help someone else. Along your journey to the top, someone had to help you. They may not have been black, but you, being a Black American, should want to change what you had to go through and deal with. Stop feeling so threatened and insecure. Someone better than you will ALWAYS come along, and the sooner you deal with that, the better off you’ll be. The world is big enough for us all. Help a young college graduate have a nice start in life. You’ll be blessed for it.

19)Learn how to love yourself and others.
The Black Community has been living with the pain of the past too long. It’s time to get a new image of Black, step into a new future, stop allowing others to define us or determine how high we fly, adopt a new attitude and feel good about the priceless value of being BLACK!!! No matter if you’re light or dark, fat or skinny, short or tall, stop hatin’ on each other, dogging each other out, stop calling each other names, and learn how to have an attitude of gratitude and a heart to help one another. We have to be willing to step out of our comfort zones in order to effect change in someone else’s life. Remember, someone else is trying to get where you’ve already been–and where you’ve been is for them to learn from, not to keep it to yourself. In order to lead, you have to serve. So, be blessed to be a blessing until all families are blessed.

20) Stop being our own worst enemy: Two wrongs don’t make it right.
If folks choose to have racist attitudes and actions towards us, it’s their problem. It’s never right to stoop to their level and respond with hatred b/c of a ‘few’ bad apples. Bottom line, we will always pray for our enemies, for God says LOVE NEVER FAILS. He is the Judge, and He said: “Revenge is mine. I will repay.” So, they will get theirs…believe that!

However, also know, that loving also means you don’t be a pushover. Sometimes loving others means to serve notice that if you hit us, we’ll hit back….in your pocketbook, getting you kicked out of office, getting you removed from your job, or whatever it takes to get you out of a decision-making role that you’ve used for your own gain and to try and hurt us.

We don’t have to fear the idle threats of racist people. They are operating out of fear and if you understood your authority in Christ, you would not be afraid, you would rejoice b/c you would know that they’re already defeated. The Word says: “The Lord is on my side; Whom shall I fear? What can man do to me?” God is our Source. But, sadly racist folks are not even our biggest enemy……WE ARE OUR OWN WORST ENEMY.

The Black Community is where it is b/c our priorities are not right. The daily decisions we’ve made, based on those priorities, have weakened us morally, financially, emotionally, and in every way you can imagine. We’ve gotten away from the morals and values that made us strong (Spiritual, Family, Work, etc) and have steadily chipped away at the foundation our forefathers built on their backs. How long are we going to allow this to happen?

Because of this decay in the foundation of our hearts, we have been divided and many have been conquered (jail, drugs, crime, etc). We have allowed ourselves to buy into the deceptive thought processes of the mainstream (Tolerance, Freedom, Godlessness, etc) in order to be included….and we never were–except to finance it all. We are all living on borrowed time, borrowed air, borrowed earth…and God can take it all back anytime He wants. It’s not about hating other races, it’s just time for us to close ranks and be committed to fixing ourselves and then working outward.

I don’t have to know you to love you. I hope all of you feel my heart in this. I just want us to get better and to do that, we have to renew our minds, change our words and attitudes. Have a good evening!

@101

You ask good questions sis, but the first thing that black people have to understand is that this is spiritual battle. When you talk about the Haitians and the revolt that they led, firstly, they outnumbered the white man there. Secondly, the Haitians are not independent. A Haitian boy, about 14 years old, told me and my brothers that the Marines that are down in Haiti to “restore order” aren’t doing anything but raping the women and assaulting the men. He said that the Marines often sexually assault Haitian prostitutes with the nozzle of their guns. He claimed to know this for a fact because his uncle is a doctor in Haiti and he would tell him about how he would have to stitch up the sisters’ vaginal canals. The young brother also said that the Marines opened a club/hangout for the Marines where the only Haitians that could be admitted were light-skinned prostitutes.

In regards to the revolts in America, like the brother Bill already touched on, there were a series of revolts that were quelled because the slaves were grossly outnumbered. Blacks have to understand that this is the caucasian’s time to rule as stipulated by the Bible (Dan 7:7, Rev 13th chap). Simple as that. For example in Deuteronomy 28:68 it says “…..and no man shall BUY you”. “Buy” is an old quaker word used in the King James version meaning save. No so-called “rebel leader” or “black leader” is going to save us because the Lord is going to save us (Isa 33:22)and put all the races that capitalize over us and have enslaved us in slavery themselves (Psa 149:6-9, Isaiah 14:1-3, Rev 13:9,10). That’s why the slaves would be in the plantation and sing “…swing low, sweet CHARIOT….”, the slaves were talking about the angelic crafts that the Bible prophecies will rescue us from this captivity (Isaiah 26:20, Isaiah 66:15, I Thes 4:18). Nat Turner was known for being not only literate without being taught how to read, but he could also quote entire chapters verbatim as could Harriet Tubman. The Lord sent him a vision in which he was told to “kill the serpent” (Job 33:14-18). Nat Turner immediately understood that the vision pertained to the caucasian and that’s how he mobilized the revolt. Furthermore, our ancestors were far stronger than the black people of today, far stronger. They served the captivity stipulated by the Lord for their sins and when you study the tortures that our people had to endure, we can’t do anything but value their sacrifice. Women raped and their fetuses sliced open, men tied between horses going the opposite directions, having our eyes pulled out with knives, fed alive to the dogs, etc. Most of our children, preferably the boys, had to serve them food naked because the children would then be the victims of pedophilia (Joel 3:3).

Bear with me because I’m going to lay out our history because everything that has happened has affected why we are where we are right now. You have to understand that when the white man took us off the coast of Africa, that was the culmination of a series of events over the course of almost 2500 years. Our people were originally kicked out of Israel in 70 A.D. by the Romans and the majority of us fled into Africa because we could blend in with the Africans. When you read about the “germanic tribes/barbarians” against the Romans in history class or in movies like the opening scenes of “Gladiator”, those were actually blacks fighting against the Romans throughout northern Europe. That’s why the Romans used the term “barbarian” meaning “woolly-headed”. The white man knows that the barbarians were black and that they ruled Europe for 1000 years following their eventual destruction of the Roman Empire. That’s why white historians call the Middle Ages the “Dark Ages” or the “mid-EVIL”period. It’s a play on words. It’s also mockery that they cover by saying that “dark ages” means that there was no “scholarly learning” during that time. When the Lord allowed Muhammed and the Arabs to come to power, he forced our people that lived in northern Africa to convert to that Islam madness by the force of the sword (Isa 21:13-17, Jer3:2). Those black Israelites that converted to Islam are known in history as Moors and they eventually conquered much of Portugal and Spain in 711AD led by an Israelite of the tribe of Simeon named Tariq. The blacks that were brought over to America in chains were Moors or Jews that were first deported from Europe to the west coast of Africa after the white man’s Renaissance and Spanish Reconquista. They were not and we still are not Africans; or as the Bible calls the Africans, Hamites. You can look it up yourself; the Black Moors and Black Jews were forced to leave Spain and Portugal in a series of statutes from 1492-1496 and were exiled to the west coast of Africa. That’s why the real Africans collaborated with the Arabs and the white man to sell us over here in slaveships (Deut 28:68). The white man tries to weasel his way out by saying, “you’re own people sold you into slavery”. That shows that they’re unrepentant for slavery and for every other atrocity they’ve committed. For that reason, the Lord has stipulated that they must in turn pay for the crimes commited by their ancestors (Job 21:19, Psa 109:14, Isaiah 14:21, Jeremiah 32:18, etc.) the same way blacks had to go into slavery for our crimes against God and his covenant with us (Deut 28:15-68, Ezek 21:3, Dan 9:11-14, etc.)

I don’t know if this has been posted..but it doesn’t hurt to read it multiple times.

1. Send a letter to the governor- there’s 2 defaults letters that you can use or you can read your own. However you write your letter it’s important to show that the governor is accountable for the DA’s action

http://www.colorofchange.org/jena/

2. support the family- you can send a monetary contributions. As much as people talk about not wearing things more than 1 time or how they rock designer stuff..you can send $10 bucks.

No disrespect to anyone on here but I see alot of black people are still so proud that they think that their plan will help the black community and it will not. It won’t even be implemented for it to even have a chance to work so stop with the ridiculous lip service. The only thing that’s going to change the black community is what the Lord has used to change all nations that have allowed themselves to indulge in wickedness, that’s death and destruction. It’s unfortunate what has happened to those brothers but they are the victims of the curses that the Lord has put on our people. Where are all the negroes that have a million and one excuses for racism at? This is whjat really disgusts me. These negroes are nowhere to be found when a story like this emerges because they really could care less unless it affects their own sphere.

Judah, you make some good points some of the time but you don’t offer solutions either. And just because you write well it doesn’t mean your words are the gospel. A well chosen word without a well thought-out solution is like a well without water — big but empty.

If your own kind always speaks of despair and puts downs their own, they are no better than the enemy. I would rather know what to do to fix a problem than dwell on all the evils of the past. It makes more sense. And I already know that you will retort with lines upon lines of bible verses to prove your points already stated above. All I ask is this, what is YOUR solution since you’ve already disclaimed everyone else’s?

@133

I’ve already stated the Lord’s solution, death and destruction. Straight up. No disrespect to you brother or sister, whoever you are, but what are you asking me to do? You want me to write 4 paragraphs detailing MY PLANS for the black community? Lol, I’m just a man. It’s lunacy to think that a man or woman can resolve the issues in the black community, that’s my point. We must return to the Lord in the spirit of truth. To change the black community the root must be pulled out of the ground. How can adult blacks say that, “we must teach our children differently” when they themselves need to be re-taught. The children are violent and frustrated because the adults have failed them. The elders are angry at the younger blacks (i.e. Bill Cosby) because the younger blacks couldn’t make that civil rights movement LIE that the elders believed in come to fruition. The brothers are angry at the sisters because the sisters will not respect them. The sisters are mad at the brothers because the brothers cannot discipline themselves and be real men for their community. There’s too much confusion to think that a man’s plan or “educational reform” (still designed by the white man of course) will change the black community.

The majority of our people enjoy doing evil and the Lord is going to have them put to death. Two thirds of our people are not going to make it (Zech 13:8,9). The ones of us that love the Lord and are repentant for their mistakes have a chance to enter the Kingdom. You can’t grasp that because you value man’s word over the Lord’s Word and that’s why the downward spiral of this world in general, and our people in particular, will and must continue until it culminates in the eventual destruction of this land. There’s nothing that we can or will do as a race that will earn the love, respect, and honesty of the white race. That, in my opinion, is what you and many other blacks are getting at when you state your plans. You want to become upstanding individuals so that the white man will look at you as equals, “appreciate” you, and “love” you. Blacks don’t want to act right for their own sake, they don’t want to love each other, they want to redeem themselves so that the caucasians will show them fellowship and love. Honestly speaking, black people sound like a ho that turns as many tricks as she can to get her pimp to love her. That’s why you, and many other black people (if you’re black), get angry when the word of the Lord comes out. You’ve rejected the God of the Bible and you’ve decided to worship the white man as god because he is in power. To prove the validity of the laws of the United States, you must know the laws and be able to apply them in the proper context. The Bible is the same way, that’s why I refer to it when I make a point. Nobody’s making you read it. If people are interested, they can go see what the verses say. If I was quoting the Constitution or state laws in my posts, you and no one else, would have a damn thing to say.

At the end of the day, my ultimate vision does not respond to your ultimate vision and I refuse to indulge in the fantasies that black people indulge in because they will not come to fruition. Why would I give you my plan for “equality” in America when the Lord says that Christ and the angelic forces are going to come here and burn this land to the ground for all the evil it’s committed. It wouldn’t make any damn sense. What you believe to be “despair”, another individual will regard as truth. What you don’t understand is that we don’t have to agree. We’re not all going to make it to the same place because we’re not all heading in the same direction. It’s not a big thing. That’s why Christ, the prophets, the apostles, and even the few real black leaders throughout history were put to death (John 8:40). The truth hurts (Gal 4:16).

You don’t know why you’re mad because you’re too stupid to know, so I’m going to tell you. You’re mad because you’re of Satan and you cannot mentally or spiritually visualize a way out of your condition (Isa 44:18, John 8:47). First of all there should not be a damn white tree….this alone should be the reason why NO ONE in this country can say there is no more racism. And WHY IN THE HELL did that student need to ask permission to sit under a tree at a PUBLIC university that he or his family put there money into for him to attend it like anyone else?! Another strike. It’s saddening, disturbing and plain trifling that he thought he had to ask PERMISSION to sit there. And if leaving nooses RIGHT AFTER some black kids sit there and for the school to reverse there expulsion and call it a prank is nothing short of racist and insensitive as hell to me. Higher learning my ass……those people are morons. The D.A. is a d-ck plain and simple. And how in the name of the United States of America and all that we are SUPPOSED to stand for do 3 people who take a gun from someone who pulled it on them get charged with a crime.THE VICTIMS but the real criminal gets less than a slap on the wrist! Come the f-ck on but let me calm down before someone calls me an overly sensitive black person. -_- Now legally them 8 boys should’nt have beaten that dude up and ignored his dumb ass but teasing that boy that was beaten up by some white kids not too long before was wrong and in my mind he deserved his ass whooping but only a total idiot would say this sh-t isn’t racist to charge these boys with attempted murder..AND CONSPIRACY…………CONSPIRACY! What f-ckin’ CONSPIRACY?! Where did they get that from seriously?! You don’t racially taunt someone dare I say especially black people and think nothing will happen. An all white jury is NOT a jury of your peers…….his lawyer could’ve done better but it probably was a lousy ass public defender. 22 years is ludicrous and I’m not a lawyer but I’ll be damned if 22 years for this isn’t anything short of cruel and unusual punishment..the sentencing doesn’t commit the rime especially when the “victim” -_- comes out with real minor injuries and some bruises. True you don’t know what can happen when you’re beating someone down especially 6 to 1 but he didn’t even get serious injuries or even need an overnight hospital stay. This type of justice or shall I say injustice against these boyd is not what a real America should stand for………….or does it?

God, gave us all the ability to think and choose, if that wasn’t true then temptation and the Devil wouldn’t even be an area of discussion. When we see wrong we should try to make it right, in this case helping to fight injustice. Don’t forget that when Jesus was bearing the cross, someone stepped up to helped him carry that cross as he was making he way through the city. And if I remembered correctly there was also a person who wanted to be put on the cross in his place. Those are the people who went against the mob mentality and stepped up to help someone else because they saw the cruelity of it.

One last Bible story, remember the town where God turns everyone but a family into salt? Before he turned the people to salt he did give them a chance to redeem themselves. Well isn’t that what Jena is? The town- JENA, the Chance- The protesters-the people banding by signing petition, writitng letters (to the governor, DA, mayor, media) and going to the city to support the families, the Salt- if they don’t change when it comes for Judgement time God will handle it.

Not using the Bible:
You can never wipe out racism out because racism comes from fear. A town like Jena of less than 3000 people is one of those towns that still fear, their mentality is we’re better than them- whites rule. It’s one of those towns across the country that no minorities would ever want to be stopped in. I live in NC, they have little town here too, towns where I make sure that my tank is full because I don’t want to have to stop.

The difference is the year is not 1960, we’re in the world of the internet and where minorities are no longer uneducated and meek, it’s not easy for racism to go unnotice. It’s the good vs evil fight, God vs Satan.

What side will you choose to fight on or will you choose to sit on the sideline?

This is sick. Our poor generation has no black leaders to defend us. After MLK died that was it for us. Like earlier post stated where is Jesse, where is Al, too busy fighting for things that aren’t important. This petition is great, as we can all see it’s gonna take all of us to come together to fight. We don’t have time to wait for he famous names to do it.

@ Judah, what makes you think I can’t grasp anything because I value man’s word over the Lord’s Word? That’s laughable. lol. My love for the lord has nothing to do with the question I asked you. I simply asked you what your solution was. You went on a tangent about how blacks always want to please the white man. You’re obviously stuck on that facet of the white man and the role he plays. I’m not. I’m not even suggesting that we concern ourselves with the white man. I’m asking what we, as a Black people, can do to solve the issues that we have. You speak of doom. You speak of despair. And you essentially cannot offer a solution because you feel that anyone who doesn’t share the same belief in the existence of Christ Almighty as you do is relegated to hell and a lack of entry into God’s paradise.

If your answer to my question is simply this: Nothing, because you don’t beleive man will survive if they don’t share your views, then say that. But don’t act as if you have answers when all you have is rhetoric that will not and cannot apply to the entire world since the entire world will not and cannot share the same beliefs as you do.

Great! I mentioned this in a post/comment on the Mike Vick story. And on a similar level black people are still public enemy No. 1 things haven’t changed much and if some of you believe it has then let me say “not fast enough”. I’m not mad at folk who just don’t get it yet, because there is a widespread ignorance that exist in our society (within our race). Not everyone will get it, so the ones who do we are responsible for pulling the rest. Thus, we get to our responsibility in helping out the Mike Vick’s and Mike Bell’s (in Jena and in NYC) we have to be there for them in whatever way we can. In numbers we are a powerful race. And whether you enjoy living under the radar sort of speak one day its going to pick you up and your reality will change like many of our brothers and sisters. Then what? It will be too late, that’s what??? Why are we waiting for this to happen to us, our immediate families, etc. We need to address this (choice word) today, right now, matter of fact yesterday.

Like many of our kind we just talk man I’m tired of talking, Right now I’m teaching and there is a difference! But as for talking about what we need to do lets sit down and put that plan together to do it.

And for the record I grew up on rap when it first came out Rap is not the culprit to our children’s demise, it’s the demise of the black family. It’s way too easy to point the finger at rap music. They did that when rap started and look at the millions of dollars that industry produced. Not saying that some of the things that are being produced today shouldn’t be discussed in terms of the dangerous messages being sent to our kids. But in all rap is not our biggest problem. We should focus on the foundation of the problem, while saving those that are being attacked on the front line.

@67 I wit you on the plan get at me, if you are serious lets talk (helio219@excite.com)
@101 we need to roll together, word.
@109 one thing at a time but I feel you
@133 Right on point, but Judah I too like your energy and thoughts we should roll
together as well.
@137 At the end of the day we all still have a great deal to learn.
@143 Hilarious

In the end and I’m sure many of you don’t want to hear this but the reason we don’t have any change in the world is because we don’t stand up for (choice word). What haven’t we done yet to get our point across to those who still insist on unfairly treating our kind? We are going to have to take our justice and eliminate those who insist on trying to stop us. How much of our blood spilled on those boats that carried slaves, thoses stages that supported those auctions, those fields from our people picking cotton and get whipped, etc(the list is too damn long)? How much, B4 our people where put into bondage/slavery. So guess what we haven’t done yet? We haven’t spilled enough of their’s to make it clear to them that those days are over and we are not going to stand for it today, tomorrow or any damn more.

This is a shame but addressing # 5 the south is not the only place where racism is I had an experience in a Savannah Illionois where the white people followed me around a grocerey store and asked if they could touch me. The only reason you hear about racism in the south is because black, white, hispanic and ervery other race live in the same areas, whereas up north whites can be by themselves with no other race and trust I’m in the military and there are plenty of all white towns where no people of color are that are more racist than the south. I have been ignored in restaurants in these towns ,refused service and any other stupid act they could do while in uniform protecting their right to be stupid. This is not just a Southern problem it is an American problem. Traveling to other countries helps you see that when you leave USA, you are either American or not. So why do we define ourselves with color barriers think on it, and let’s wake-up.

Judah you talk a good game but in reality the moors or black jews there were only 400,000 the other’s that made up the 5.6 million moors were inhabitants of Africa. So the Africans did in fact sell their own people into slavery, as for the other things you said America was built by slaves from the indians, to the blaacks, to indentured servants that were European ie white. The past cannot be changed but stop spewing bible scriptures when not just America put the whole planet will be judged and on that day they will open the book of life and whosever name does not appear will be cast in a lake of fire. It’s not a direct quote so don’t try to tell me where to find it and how it really goes. I’m from the south and if we don’t know anything else we know the bible, and when the slaves song the old songs like swing low sweet chariot the majority of those were signs that an escape was coming and where to meet.

It’s not only the south, its all over the USA! Only difference is that white people in da south don’t hide there feelings. Personally i like it like that so i can no my enemy. I’m from Birmingham, AL which used to be the most racist city in the world. Times have changed in this city definitely like a Black Mayor, Police Chief, Fire Chief , School Administrator, etc. Black people in B,ham will NEVER forget what we went through so that type of shit would never jump off down here! Our main problem is that we are #4 per 100,000 people in the nation for MURDERS! Behind Gary, Ind/ Detroit and Flint, MI. Wake the hell up black people please.

The same thing that happens in the south happens in the north; just on different levels. Racism doesn’t sequester itself so let me first say that we have to stop looking at problems from a geographical standpoint. It’s much bigger than than.

I’ve read almost everyone’s comments and find enlightenment in a lot of what’s been said on here. But the truth of the matter is that most of us are powerless because we only get feverish when there’s a flame. It’s the whole jumping on a bandwagon thing that disturbs me. Now, I’m not taking anything away from petition signing because I’ve signed my share of petitions too. But that in itself is not enough to cause real change in what’s going on in the world.

For starters, I think people have to be personally responsible for their own actions. Understand that for every action there is a reaction and a consequence. You can’t make people be anything other than who they are and who they want to be. But you can change yourself. If you hold yourself to a high standard, fight for the right causes, take a stand against injustices (and not only when everyone else does) then that will be a catalyst for change. If enough people thought that way and stopped waiting for the next man or the next woman to do something, we could get a lot further. Some people are always crying out for Sharpton and Jackson because some people are not leaders within themselves and they are constantly looking for someone else to lead them.

Racism will never dissolve as long as classism, sexism, and all the other “ism”s exist. One feeds off of the other. Racism is merely a struggle that’s promulgated by class issues, which are promulgated by sex issues, and so on. To eradicate racism is to eradicte to the world. To eradicate racism means that we will all share wealth equally, we will all treat each others justly, we will all respect each other’s values. IMPOSSIBLE HERE ON EARTH. We, the human race, are too dIvisive in terms of theoretical and theological beliefs, moors, psychological make-up and historical backgroundS to ever form a commonality as it applies to race relations. Simply not possible! The world is too complex for any person to believe that they can only survive (in the afterlife or otherwise) if they believe what everyone else believes, worships what the next man worships, and so forth. A bigger issue at hand, for me at least, is to minimize the effects that racism, classism, sexism, etc has on my everyday living and to trust that my personal relationship with God is one that keeps me knowing that I am protected, regardless of what the world tries to throw at me.

I love the fact that those students defied authority and didn’t wait for someone else to tell them what to do. As a whole, more Blacks need to think this way in an everday struggle kind of way. Whenever possible, don’t wait until you have a gang of five to step to someone that has wronged you. Just step. A consequence will always follow but a greater consequence is not doing anything at all and being exactly where we are today, which is technically nowhere closer than we were seven hundred years ago.

Let me just say that this is a very serious topic and black people really should not be censoring each other. Our problems get censored enough in the mainstream media. Let people state their views and we can build from there.

@158 Common Sense or Dat’s Da Truth or Whoever

Brother you proved that you can’t grasp the Word of the Lord in your last two posts. If you believe in the Bible like you claim, then you’re supposed to ask me, “what does the Bible or Christ say we’re supposed to do?” You didn’t do that. In fact, like all nonbelievers, you got OFFENDED when the scriptures came out. The Bible is not something you go to after you finish doing whatever the hell you feel like doing. I cannot comprehend how in the hell you believe in the Bible but you want a man to give you HIS solution for a nationwide epidemic. You sound stupid. You wouldn’t, if you were intelligent, ask a political leader to make a decision without referring to constitiutional law or some form of legal judgement, so why would you be an alleged believer in the Lord but ask a man for his solution, lol. At the end of the day like I always say, we don’t have to agree. People attack my views because they’re perplexed that I can articulate my “ignorance”, lol.

Man’s survival has nothing to do with my views. Our people take everything personal because they don’t know how to think. The “democracy” of America has convinced our people that their opinion matters when it doesn’t. That’s what the problem is. Let me ask you something; do you think the black man and the black woman are going to grab up guns and take down the white man? If I’m infatuated with the white man like you and others claim, then who do you think you’re trying to be “equal” with? Maybe I should be a coward like alot of these other black people and say “they” and “them” instead of just saying “caucasian” and “white”. Black people are already viewed as equal, allegedly, according to constitiutional law, so I don’t know what the hell our people are striving for and I don’t think ya’ll do either. The only thing that I can deduce is that you want the white man to love you because you can’t love yourselves or each other. Blacks saying that they want to “be equal” is like an Olympic sprinter training for a “10 way tie” so that no one has to lose and be offended. It’s asinine. We have to ask ourselves why the other races come here to America, have basically no representation in the higher levels of government, nor do they really lobby for any, and still supercede the blacks and hispanics.

I was not shocked to hear that this is still going on in America nor was I shocked to see that main stream America has not aired IT’S dirty laundry.

We as black people have gotten so comfortable with the little bit that we have that we fail to acknowledge what we truely do not have. JUSTICE

We are hand feed by white America to believe that we are better off now than we were in the past. Some can look at it as yes we are, and others can challenge that response.

We as African decendants need to change our thoughts of ourselves before we can truely get White America… (We continuosly say white America, but there are many etnic backgrounds that look down on us)… to change how they perceive us. When are we going to prove to them that we are better than what they perceive us to be. WE are PHENOMENOL and that is what scares them and with education behind us it scares them more.

We have more love in us than they could imagine. But we became blinded, blinded by the BLING, the cars, expensive clothes just a few things that people present to the world to show that they are somebody.

We as African decendants are a great people and this shows with the responses that were presented. I was impressed to see positive responses with so little cursing that showed a side of intelligence coming from us.

@100% are you a man that defends injustice? I choose not to ask if you are a black man or a white man. With this remark it appears you are. With a response like that I can say you appear to be IN HU MAN.

I see a lot of people asking for Al and Jesse. They are main stream media. They utilize (USE) black issues to make themselves look good. They are where they have always been, behind the White curtain waiting for someone to pull it open so they can perform on their stage. You do not need false preachers to represent TRUTH.

Side Note: We need to start with ourselves and our children, turn radio stations, turn tv stations. Lets build us up and show them we have long past earned your respect, now we demand it. Not just from White America but from those that glamorizes how to disrespect us. ARTIST! Free speech What happened to the FREEDOM that our ancestors died for.

@165 Keylow

No disrespect to you brother, but I’m not going to strive with you about the lineage and heritage of the Moors. I have my books and information, and you have yours. What you said really didn’t make any damn sense. When you study the medieval period, the blacks that controlled Europe always had people of the other nations that made up a certain percentage of their armies, like all races in power do. I’ve seen studies written by so-called historians that tell you that the Moors were caucasian, lol. It depends on what you’re agenda is. If your agenda is that the Moors were Africans, thusly the Africans sold other Africans in slavery, thusly the white man is not at fault, and thusly I can fight for him and put my life on the line guilt-free, brother do you. Isn’t your silly ass fighting a war that you cannot justify for a race that oppresses you right now? Here you are talking about how you cannot, IN 2007, get service in certain restaurants but you still put your life on the line, lol. To each his own. In regards to the Bible you’re the 4th person that alluded to the Bible but expressly said, DON’T QUOTE from it, showing that it offends you because you’re of Satan. I have more respect for an atheist than these halfway, sideshow niggas that sit in a damn hot ass church but don’t believe what they’re being told. Whatever duke. The one thing that you did say is that you don’t know a damn thing. Most black people in the church don’t know the Bible, so cut the nonsense. How the hell would the slaves singing “swing low” be strictly about an escape from the plantation when they sang it almost everyday? No disrespect but the majority of black people are still on the plantation, lol. That song was an allusion to what’s known in the church as the “rapture” because our ancestors had a greater understanding of the Word of the Lord than you and your church. You don’t know what you’re talking about brother.

The crux of the matter is that you’re offended because you’re a soldier for the U.S military and I said that the Lord will judge this land. Not only is the Lord against this land, but he’s against your armed forces (Isa 34:2). You need to humble yourself before the victim of one of these road-side bomb attacks.

In regards to the “Jena 6″, cases like this make me wonder how many hundreds of cases around the country are hid from mainstream media outlets by local media.

@Tammy, not to call MizzLiz out but I think she’s Hispanic- she said that she signed the petition and forwarded to her friends, You know I’m Asian from the whole ebony magazine post, and I also signed that petition, wrote a letter to the governor, sent it out on myspace-with the bulletin “read it, understand it, sign it or delete me as your friend”, and sent out an email, I know it’s little compare to what other people are doing, but I do support the fight against racism. What’s wrong with us banning together? We banned together to run the underground railroads and to protest with Dr MLK?

@Judah- you’re articulate as you say until someone pisses you off, you and I have also exchanged some words in one of these post. I was curious about your views until you started attacking me racially. After that, you lost my ears. You may say to yourself that you don’t care because I’m not black, I say “whatever man”.

You’re right to say that people have their own interpretation of the Bible and the books they read. In all you wrote, I got the reason behind the struggle and the history but not the SOLUTION. Should we just accept that we’re damned on earth?

No matter how to cut it to me racism comes from fear and hate. Fear that someone might be better than you and hate because it could be true.

@180

I get pissed off when people try to lie to me. I get pissed off when people try to tell me to do things because everyone else is doing it, not because it’s right. I’m not trying to gain your ears miss, I think that’s why you’re so confused. I think that other races are so used to black people deferring to them, that they get confounded when they get rejected. In regards to MLK, most of the black people that claimed to support him were agents that conspired to have him killed, much less the people of the other races that allegedly supported him. Charlton Heston partook in various civil rights marches and he’s an ardent racist and isn’t scared to say it.

In regards to what the Bible says the solution will be, we’re already in the midst of that solution. Bear in mind, I’m not saying that black people shouldn’t strive to succeed. We have to live. From Genesis to Revelation, the scripture details that the Lord wants things done and maintained in an orderly fashion. The story of the Tower of Babel illustrates that the Lord does not want the races to intermingle amongst each other to a high degree (Gen 11:1-9). That’s why America is known as “Babylon” or the “daughter of Babylon” in the Bible because it encourages all races to come here, whether forcefully or willingly, and become confused, and either forsake or forget their true history and lineage like the original Babylon did (Psa 137:8, Jeremiah 50:33-37,42, etc.). America will continue to engage in their phony “War on Terror” and will eventually engage the Iranians (Isaiah 13:17,18, Jeremiah 51:11,12). In the midst of all this, America will also try to wage a war with the Sudanese in the guise of helping the people in Darfur. In reality, the powers that be in America want the oil. They could care less about the Sudanese or their plight. Russia will become involved and it will result in nuclear war (Isa 51:6, Ezek 38:1-6, Zech 14:12, II Pet 3:10-12, etc.) That is why these armies of the world are gathering in Iraq, which in the Bible is known as the Valley of Jehoshaphat (Joel 3:12). That is where the armies that will all be fighting each other, will turn to fight against Christ and the angelic forces (Rev 19:19,20).

What blacks and hispanics have to do, as the Lord’s chosen (Deut 7:6, Deut 14:2 Deut 28:68, Deut 32:8-10, I Kings 10:9, etc.) is prepare themselves for what is going to happen. They have to stop celebrating these heathenistic, pagan holidays like Christmas (Jer 10:1-5), Thanksgiving, Halloween, and Easter, which are all designed to worship Satan, not Christ. We have to keep the commandments to the best of our ability and the Lord will bless us in return. We refuse to do that, and that is why things like the “Jena 6″ continue to happen in our communities. (Deut 28:15-68). Our people don’t understand that the Lord snctified us, meaning SEPARATED us, from all people because we are a CHOSEN race of royalty (Deut 14:2, Isa 44:1, II Cor 6:17, I Pet 2:9). That’s why everyone takes and steals from us and yet hates us with a passion (Jer 50:6,7). That’s also why Christ said that he will SEPARATE the races, because he will gather the children of the interracial unions, like yours, and re-sanctify them (Matt 25:31-33)

In regards to you and the other races, you will be put into slavery when Christ comes back for the role that you’ve partaken in our condition (Psa 149:6-9, Isa 14:1-3, Amos 9:12, Zeph 2:8,9, Rev 2:25-27, Rev 13:9,10, etc.). You will rebuild our true land, Israel, for us, which will have been destroyed in the nuclear holocaust (Isa 61:4,5, Ezek 36:7-12, 32-36). For all the people out there catching feelings, take it up with the Most High and Christ because it’s already written. Also ask yourselves why there are more slaves in the world right now, in this age of “freedom”, than at any time in history.

Hello, I was reading the back and forth between Tammie and Noeatingheretonight. Ok, first off, Tammie, did you fall asleep during Black History Month? As I remember they had different races helping Harriet Tubman run the underground railroad, remember the Quakers. Similarly, what about the two Jewish Americans that gave their lives during the Civil Rights Movement? Have you heard of SNCC and CORE, look them up they will give you some insight on the cooperation of between the races. Look, I am not trying to come down hard on you or take sides, but you can not condemn someone simply by their race, or just say they can’t help because they don’t understand your ancestors struggle. Let’s replace white racism with black racism.

Who am I? I am a born and raised BLACK Louisianan.

As for the comment about Black History Month, it plays an important role in to your reference to your comments about certain outside races not being able to relate to the struggles of African-Americans. After reading the comments between you and the Asian poster, I felt that you were misguided in your thinking that no other race was helping our ancestors in secret, at great risk to their lives. However, I am sure that you are a well-informed black sister, as I am a well-informed brother, and already knew of the contribution of other races to our struggle. After all we all know who is the only race arrogant enough to make us believe that no one wants to help us; and what race is that ? I don’t need to say any names.

Last time I checked anybody who was not white was a minority, and that included Asians, Blacks, Hispanics, etc….

Side note:

Although minorities may be different physically, we were all effected in some way by WHITE colonialism, and for anyone to deny that is foolish indeed.

Ok, I’m not responding to anyone else’s post (nor have I read any of the other posts) or am I necessarily responding to this incident but I need to make my peace and say what I wanna say.

We have such a messed up idea of what racism in this country. The simple idea of the white racists and Black victims is not always true. People boil complex racial issues down to the simple white racist and Black victim dichotomy. Blacks to are racist, and this never seems to be addressed. When any issue Black/white issue comes up (as has this issue) people can only think that it is whites being the racists and Blacks being the victims.

Racism in the US is very complex and cannot be simplified the way it has. The reporter from this video seems to be from the North (from his accent) and obviously has no idea of how things (esp. racism) are in the South. Racism goes both ways. Is it not racist for your momma to tell you to never bring a white boy home because you want to marry him? I hear it all the time from Black parents, but let a white person say that and they will be labeled a racist and a bigot. We like and prefer our own people. I’m not saying there is anything wrong with that, but everyone needs to realize that we too harbor racist sentiments.

I think the core issue is the self segregation that goes on throughout the US. The whites no doubt self segregated themselves under that tree, while Blacks also self segregated. Blacks love self segregation. I went to a majority Black high school (in the South) and for the most whites and Blacks kept to their own groups, except for the white kids who “acted Black.” We would ridicule the “white” white kids to the point of making fun of them to their faces and being rude and excluding them when we did things. Now that I am out in the “real world” and away from my little Black majority enclave I realize how much Blacks are responsible for our own problems. By failing to be friendly and hospitable to those white kids in high school, I was only furthering the rift between whites and Blacks. I think high school is the most shining example of this because the two groups are forced together and interacting on a daily basis.

While I am remaining largely silent on this Jena 6 issue I think that certainly the self segregation that goes on throughout the country certainly played a part in the incident. Ok, I’ve said what I wanted to. Peace.

Who are you and why are you here?

I am a NATIVE BLACK Louisianan, and this issue effects me on a personal level. I am here because this issue affects all BLACK Louisianan. As for your reference to me believing that every race wants to hold African-American hands and sing “Comebaya’My Lord” (hypothetically speaking) that is just silly.

Every day I work with other races that go out of their way to help African-American causes in this State. Yes, Tammy there are people in this world that just want to help despite their color when they see the need. Also, I am one of the many African-Americans that are not selfish enough to refuse the help based on the other person’s skin. I cannot sympathize with your distrust of other races, or certain races you feel do not understand our struggle, I refuse to let that fear and distrust (racism) cripple me.

Moreover, this is my last response to you, because I refuse to start a personal cyber war, so I will end this discussion.

This is interesting, what religious sect do you practice Judah? I’m curious because different sects teach slightly different interpretations of the worlds written in the Bible. I’ve gone to many different churches, mainly to experience it, can’t say that I don’t like Baptist if I’m never been to a Baptist church.

Anyways all your scripture referencing got me curious. So I started looking them up. I started with Jews are the chosen people because I’ve always that that God can’t have a preference in race if God created us all. I came across Romans2 28-29-KJV, where it talks about how you may be an outward Jew but if you do wrong then you’re not an inward Jew. That to be God’s choosen Jew you have to be it from the inside in your heart and spirit and to believe God’s word. Also Romans3 29-30 talks about how God is not only the God of Jews but of Gentiles. Romans 4 talks about how Abraham is the father of many nations and that the people of Abrham before he accepted God, will be also be accepted by God- this must cover all the people who didn’t know of God to accept him-Buddiest, Hindis, Indegneious Tribes, etc. If Abraham is the father of us all, of many nations then whose to say that the nations doesn’t reach to East Asia, Australia, S.America, etc.

Anyways, this is very interesting and it shows that there are many interpretation to every book. Judah for all your faults you have opened my eyes to read the Bible a little more closely for myself. I don’t believe what you believe but because all your scripture referencing got on my nerves, I know more now than I did yesterday.

I’m shocked that this type of racism is still going on in this day and age. I will sign the petition as well. I wish racism would end for good but I don’t see that ever happening any time soon. But first before that happen we have to erase the racisim within our own race. After reading some of the comments posted about what’s happening in Jena I can tell we still have a long way to go.

I agree with everything you posted #190 I went to school with racial lines set up the same way with similar racial problems. Also, #187 I understand where your coming from and know all about SNCC. I had older family members involved with them a while back. Have you looked at this link on them http://www.ibiblio.org/sncc/issues.html

you know the sad thing is…when I was younger, the black kids were the nicest to me- they didn’t make fun of me like the hispanics and whites. Most of them knew how it’s like to face racism and people who don’t like you for absolutely no reason. So in many ways I felt a kinship with Black people because history says they had to handle it all their lives. Kindred spirits, we would ban together, fight together.

Either she/he is playing around or she/he has a serious problem. Then again maybe he/she is not of the kinship that NOEATINGHERETONIGHT describes. Either way all three situations results to ignorance. In high school my teacher defined that word as “a knowledge that should be there” meaning that everyone should have. Tammy because of your postings i feel as if I can’t address you as a human far-less a sister (whom i deem deserves up most respect) yet you should understand something since when in your life have you never accepted someones help. Help in the most extreme sense or the least extreme sense (say someone holding the door for you). If people are sincere in providing you with help then you should let them help. Of course they can’t walk for you or fight for your every cause, they may not even understand your cause but if they are willing to, let them. Black folk have had help since we been in this forsaken country. The creator guides us to love everybody even your enemy. Love everyone Tammy. Futhermore this forum shouldn’t be about lashing out on people who are sharing views relevant to the issue (JENA 6). We need solutions to being better as a whole to act as a whole and fight as a whole.

It’s time for people to realize this ain’t slavery times anymore. And we as blacks aren’t walking aroung afraid of the white folks anymore. Those people that are trying to give those young men unnecessary harsh treatment need to remember this: There IS a GOD. He sits high, but he is definitely looking low on this matter. They’d better watch it because God is not pleased. It’s time we become unified. But if division is what they want, they need to realize that won’t be a very pretty thing.

To Lynn, JQUEEN, and Dre_Sincere, PREACH, PREACH, PREACH. We need to listen and pay attention. NOTHING HAS CHANGED!!! I work in an office and I am the only BLACK FEMALE. I see the racisim everyday. Loans being given to the white people that HAVE money, investestments, ect. to start their business or to get their business back on track. They have their own money already, but don’t have to touch it and can let it sit and make money, while the borrow it from the bank to do whatever. Credit reports can be bad, they still get the loan. They lend $$ to the people that don’t need it!!! They lend to their friends, and take care of each other. They lend to “who they know” and to “they are good people.” They really like to say that phrase. We have one loan to one black business ower. He has an engineering company and a car wash. They want him to move his business because his financial status is not up to their standards, even though he pays the loan FAITHFULLY every month, and on time. Racism? Right in my face.

I feel so bad for these young aspiring men. The white man doesn’t want us to succeed and is doing everything they can to hold us down. But like the other posts say, we HAVE TO BEGIN TO STICK TOGETHER. We are special, and the white man knows it and is scared. The only thing they have is “their law” that keeps us confined, still in slavery. Just like Michael Vick, I’m not going to say what went on is right or wrong. But he is on trial simply because dogfighting is ILLEAGAL, according to the white man, and so since the government did not get their share of the winnings, then Vick had to make a plea deal with the government. The government? Dog fighting? But the white man can kill all the deer during hunting season. We gotta listen and pay attention.

BE SURE TO PASS THIS ON TO EVERYONE. I KNEW NOTHING OF THIS UNTIL THIS WEEK AND THAT IS SAD. THE MEDIA IS NOT COVERING THIS. PASS THIS ON AND LET’S MAKE OUR PEOPLE AWARE OF WHAT IS GOING ON. I DID.

Who are the most racist? It’s not the blacks……it’s not the Mexicans, or the Italians. It’s the whites. The whites are the WRONG ones and the brutal and violent ones. Black people are the way they are because of the white men have done to them. Blacks have every right to be mad and angry. Being mistreated because the color of your skin is plain IGNORANT.

wah wah wah.the reason blacks in america cant thrive is because they are so caught up in what happened 100 years ago.stop complaining.get jobs.raise your children.co operate with the police.stop with the whole “woe is me shit”.my family came here in the late 1800s and they were treated like shit.they worked hard and got out of poverty.they didnt wallow in their mire.in boston the poorest section is roxbury.in the 1890s the irish moved in.worked hard until they had the power to elect some of their own into political offices.then they found work and actually kept the jobs for years earning enough money to move into better parts of the city.next came the jews who did the same thing.opened businesses and worked their way out of the poor part of town and into better situations.then the african americans came (with JFK election) and they have been stuck in roxbury and mattapan ever since.unemployed, under educated, addicted, fatherless, letting eveything around them go to shit and complaining its because they are black the whole time.why dont you all get jobs.have real families with moms AND dads.teach your children respect.keep kids under 18 off the streets after 11pm.these things alone will cause less violence.stop blaming everyone else and step up and try to be real americans instead of perpetual victims of your race.its getting pretty boring listening to the same BS excuses for 50 years.

#214: Queenbee:

Being the only sista in the office, just be sure to stay on your “p’s & q’s”. I’m sure you are, but here are a few pointers:

1) Watch the “dynamics”- This means, watch who’s-hanging-with-who. Watch the interactions. However, with white people, they can tear each other apart in the conference room and go have drinks afterwards, so you have to be very careful about who you can trust, which doesn’t seem to be anybody. Also, DO NOT tell ANYONE your personal business, b/c that’s the first thing they ask for. Your best defense is if they can’t figure you out. If you do, keep it vague.

2) Fight quietly- This means DOCUMENT and keep a ‘Hush’ file. I don’t know what capacity you work in with your loan office, but it seems as if you come across the files of those who are given loans who don’t qualify for it. If the paperwork clearly indictes a disparity between the loan amount and the applicant’s salary or net worth, as well as, a vague justification or a weak one told to you, girl, you better start keeping that ‘hush’ file.

Because if it all goes down, and I certainly don’t wish that on you, you’ll have evidence. Also, If they say something racist to you, just write what they said, along with the date and time. When you’re moving on to bigger and better, or if they try you, you’ll be ready.

3) Learn the system of operation- Read your employee handbook from cover-to-cover. Then get to know your Personnel/HR people and how positions are changed, how the money is determined, and the reasons that people are let go. Don’t ever give them a rope to hang you with.

4) Learn the business and then start your own- If you’re going to make friends, then make it work for you. Keep a Rolodex and network with the clients you bond well with. That way, once you start your own, then they may decide to go with you. If you like the business, and are looking to stay in it, then ask someone to be a Mentor. Deal with the love affair of being able to ‘teach’ you something and get as much help as you can. When they accept you, you’re in. Then, use it to be a blessing to black business owners, who have their stuff together, like the man you listed above. Who knows? Maybe he’ll be your first client.

Anyway, sorry for rambling. I’ll just close by wishing you the best in whatever you decide to do.

I say they should start charging the D.A. and the judges who prosecute and sentence these teenagers. It is absolutely ridiculous and completely un-nerving. It IS our problem, and until we as a people band together, you know like the Asians, Whites, Jews etc. we and our children will never be free. Yes, the physical chains are long gone, but its the mental chains that are killing us. Look at how we treat each other? How can we expect anything better. That white jury and state stuck together to lock these kids down. Then we as colered people can band together to get them free. Yes we can make a difference. Do you know that the whites are becoming the new minority? They are dying out.,…and thier daughters are getting with the Chocolate Mochas. Notice who were imprisoned? The brothers. This is disgusting. I’m tired and frustrated at the justice system. How can you sentence someone 22 years for school fight? This is unbelievable, and to think that Jena could get away with this injustice. This is the reason why America has so many enemies. Other nations despise the Americans because they do not practice what they preach.

I had a friend who lived in NJ, she was Pakistan and decided to move to Texas with her newly husband. she attended college. In one of her classes a topic of injustice came up and she realized that there are people that are still racist till this day. She warned me not to come to Texas, I replied that things like that happen in NJ anyway so it doesn’t matter where your at.

I proudly signed the petition and I believe its over 68,000.

I myself have signed the petition. but the problem is, it doesnt stop there. yeah its a start, but i can guarantee that a vask majority of us on here commenting are somewhat new school. thats why we need to step up. i seen that a couple of you mentioned jesse jackson and al sharpton. but what other leaders do we have. what are we gonna do when those guys are gone? our generation is so selfish that the generation after us only have ignorant MF’s like 100% to look up to. but i totally agree with networking alot of us that have myspace pages should use them for something other than fullfilling our own wants. since it is a way to connect with people all over. lets put our strength back into our minds to create more DR MLK, MALCOM X, ROSA PARKS, AND HARRIET TUBMAN’S, or else this petition is really a waste.

The funny thing is if we stuck together in the first place, had some respect for one another, acted like being black was not only worthy but beautiful we wouldnt have this type of situation.

We are very reactionary as a people sometimes, we wait for stuff to happen instead of doing prevention control.

I pray for my people everyday, because we are truly sad sometimes.

WOW!!! I didn’t hear of this until David Banner spoke on it on 106&Park last week. I think that it is quite a shame for our country to still be at a point where mess like this is still going on and all everyone can report on is Mike Vick and some dogs!!WTF Maybe I’ve been lost for a while but when did animals become more important than human life?

THE DIRTY LOW LIFE OPRAH WINFREY HAS CONTRIBUTED GREATLY TO THESE ATTACKS UPON OUR BLACK YOUTH. IT STARTED WITH THE PANTS, NOW IT HAS ESCALATED WITH JAILING. STOP CALLING FOR THE DESTRUCTION OF YOUR OWN PEOPLE. STOP THE DAMN MADNESS!

I am literally in tears over this. I don’t understand how we can still have these issues in 2007. That school needs to be shut down permanently for having a so called “white” tree. Why in 2006 does anyone need approval to sit anywhere.

I’m begging everyone that reads this PLEASE teach your children decent morals and let them know that hating someone because of their race is JUST WRONG!!! Our ancestors should not have had to experience it, we should not have to experience it and our children definetly should not have to experience it!!!

This really hurts my heart….that’s all.

Also, I wanted to add that if you research your ancestors far back enough, you’ll learn that you are decendents of many different races and ethnicities. So for those of you that are so quick to dislike someone because they are black (or white, because we are guilty of it too) you may just be hateing on your own heritage, because there is no such thing as a pure white, black or any other race for that matter. REAL TALK!!!! Our hearts are all pretty much the same color and the same color blood runs through each and every one of our veins, the only thing we truly and purely are is HUMAN!!! WAKE UP!!!! (she screams at the top of her lungs!!!)

As I sit hear and read this post it brings tears to my eyes to know that there is so much hatered that people have among each other because of their skin color and ethnicity, it hurts my soul and my heart to know that things like this still goes on in this world today. Not only have I signed the petition but i will also be donating money for this outrageous $90,000 bail that they have gave this young man…..is this is what my kids and grand-children will have to go through in the future….if we dont do something now things like this are going to keep taking place and we will be doing the same thing that we are doing now, having pitty for ourselves. We need to change as people.

I remember being a small child when I heard that Martin Luther King was dead. I also remember not understanding the importance of his death.

I also remember when I was ll years of age and my mother would talk me to marches for black equality in the south ( even at that age I could feel her fear, however, understanding that it was something inside of her that was saying I have to do this) and being given $20 dollars for a days work by the local activist Rev Drake to go door to door to help black complete voter registration forms.

I also remember seeing as a small child, white only signs and patronizing store where you had to stand outside to get what you wanted and give your money to the person inside who would hand you your product through a window because you could not go inside because of the color of your skin.

I also remember hearing about a group of black students sitting at a counter and refusing to move until they were served.

I remember leaving the South because I did not want to clean someone house to make a living or work in a factory.

I am now a 55 year old woman who obtained a B.A. and a Master Degree. I look at what I see here in New York. Whites and Black working together, living together and having children together. It makes you think that things like the Jena 6 could not possibly happen in the year of our Lord 2007.

I have not heard a lot about this story except on you radio show which normally I listen to on my way home from work.

I have to say that I am a little sad. Sad because I don’t need to know that Opra is one of the most powerful women in this country. I need to know that she thinks this is important enough to speak out on which could do more that ten marches in Jena ( I think). Has anyone tried to bring this to her attention?

When is Jessie, Andrew and Al? This is a time that we need their help. We as a people need so badily to progress not regress.

I went to your site and I read the story and sadily I have to say it brings a tear to my eye. I thought that most racist such as these were dead.

I would like to look back and remember, that you and all of the above pulled together and freed the Jena 6.

I would like to look back and remember that your and all of the above pulled together and remove the DA, Judge and Governor who have not stopped this madness.

I don’t know a lot that I can do, but what I will do, is tell the story as I have read it on your website.

I will ask them to tell the story to someone else and ask them to tell their some else to tell the story.

Maybe by word of mouth the story will spread.

It saddens me to know that this is still going on. If you read the timeline of the Jena 6 you will see that an event involving a group of white boys beating up a black boy occurred and all they got was a $5,000 which was posted!!! Not attempted murder or second degree murder! This is totally unfair. In the contrasting situation, the white boy that was beat up was released from the hospital the same day! So what gives! Something has to be done before this really gets out of hand. We need to band together and help these young brothers out!

I lived in Jena 4 over 18 years, but when I began to have children I knew it was time 2 move. i return 3-4 times a year, due to family remaining. I cant and I wont deal with racism. I would be in prison along side my sons. Its a shame ,because the color of your skin, that our children have to suffer. PLEASE SIGN THE PETITION AND SUPPORT THE JENA 6. I know these boys and their parents. I WILL DRIVE 12 hours 2 support them once again on Sept. 20th. 100%—U r well uneducated, i assume, that’s ur opinion, but who cares wat u r thinking. We have 2 support our young men against ANIMALS like u and Reed Walters. U never know until u’ve had 2 endure it. I lived it, so I know wat it is 2 be black and live with predjudice white people.

I think its a an absolute travesty. It is tantamont of the kind of evil that surrounds
us, and hinders the progress of african americans. A total disregard for justice
and our humans. Once again sending a strong message to whites, that blacks do not matter.

The way I hear this story, there was plenty of problems with the young folks at school, but the adults and the “authorities” made it all worse. The older generation needs to quite teaching the youth that today is just like yesterday, because it ain’t!
Today has its own set of problems, for certain, but I am sure each of you know people that are NOT like their parents. Maybe that even describes you! There are jerks of all races to be avoided at any school. If someone is an ass, that doesn’t make it cool to kick their teeth in. How they act reflects on them. How YOU ACT reflects on who YOU ARE! Don’t let anyone drag you into a fight, it just makes you look bad too.
There are mediation centers all over the US and students trained as mediators too. I am sure that there are plenty of people of all races who would support efforts to bring people together. How can any white people stand up with you for fairness, if all they hear is RACE this and RACE that? Why can’t it be people of justice vs. everyone else?
By the way, justice can also be about forgiveness, and sometimes that’s what it takes to move on. If you can get everyone screaming from ALL SIDES to drop everyone’s charges, then the troublemaking authorities might have to get lost.
Hey, if you wanna get some ideas about that one, check out the “forgivenessproject.com” I guess you can tell that I am white, but hey, I hope you can listen to me anyway. Revenge doesn’t go anywhere, so why not try making peace between students in Jena. This seems like the easier approach. The older generation is still stuck in the past. We don’t have to be!

this is really sad of wat america has come to.
Doesnt the Martin Luther King jr speech mean anything to these people.
OK. so wat a boy was beaten up. he’ll live with a couple of scratches and bruises. but the students who are being charged with murder… their lives are being f**ked forever.
is it really that serious? kids get beat up everyday at almost every school. thats the harsh truth. and just because it was a white student getting beat on by a couple blacks it makes it attempted murder!? bulls**t.
there are worse crimes out there like rape and actual murder that they could be dealing with.
it’s a shame.

This is such an outrage, and a slap in the face to, not only the black race, but to all races. This only proves what has been swept under the rug for such a long time. It is such a good feeling to know that there are still strong, black men that can take charge and lead. I hope that this sets the example that justice should be equal for all.
