Cherri V – Between the Sheets
When Angel passed this girl along to me to hear the music, I was very intrigued. At first by her pictures and then when I got into some of the tracks, I was really liking what I heard. Cherri V is well on her way to becoming the next sensation in the UK. Her music is a great blend of Rock, Pop, and R&B.
In 2006, Cherri was a member of the girl group Trinity Stone and they were signed to Sony/BMG. The group soon disbanded, but Cherri was fortunate enough to travel to many places across the globe and learn about the industry, allowing her to discover where she could now hold a spot in it. Right now, she’s recording her album at her own pace and is gaining as much performance exposure in the UK as possible.

Someone like Solange Knowles I can see doing this song changing up the beat a little and making it a real hit. The beginning of the song is reminiscent of Monica’s Angel of Mine.
Well…the first song is cool, i like the second one better. I decided to go on her page and I like the song “Fast Car” more than anything, yeah yeah…one might think of ‘shut up and drive’ but the song is waaaay far from that concept. And hey she said she sang with Kelis and her live band. I love Kelis so that gives her some cool points. She just needs better production and that’s it. Hope she makes it because I’m looking to hear more from her.

Okay, the harshness of my intial comment aside “until the sun comes up” isn’t so bad, but that’s more to do with the Nirvana hijack. Her other stuff fails to impress me.

But i wouldnt really point at her so much about the Rich Harrison (Amerie) sounding backing track (2nd track), that producer (H-money) seems to bite alot of producers swaggers if its not Neptunes, its Timbo, etc. which is odd because im sure he’d do well with more original sounding stuff.
At least the singing didn’t sound like amerie’s.

One thing I like about black Britisth acts is that for the most part, they don’t seem one-dimelsional like their American counterparts. But sadly, Amy Winehouse does make this chick sound like a retard.

That Amy Winehouse comment was mis guided!! First of all there are a number of Black U.K artists who came out long before A.W dong the same music (Better & Hotter) but are still on their grind trying to get heard becuase the U.K music scene doesnt eccept Black Music from Black British people! Do you think A.W would be getting all that press and love from everyone in the industry if she was Black,?? Wake-up and smell the Racism…..its so boring and late!

Let me gives this girl some advice, sistah you are beautiful and talented. Keep that in UK cause these niggas aint ready: if it aint light bright or pu$$y popping across the stage whites wont accepted, and niggas will neglect it.
UK is more understanding that things are darker than white and that you can be black w pride.
