People keep saying what is so wrong with a party song like Crank Dat Souljah Boy because we need something to dance to. The problem is there are too many songs like souljah boy and not enough of the more conscious songs. It’s that simple but Souljah Boy like many other artist i.e J-Kwon will be a one hit wonder. I’m 20 and far from old, and I totally agree with what many posters have said. I feel like years ago there was a balance between the bullshit music and the good music. Now that balance does not exist. I mean Sean Kingston is a complete joke. He is the male version of Rihanna in my opinion and trust me that is not a good thing. Sean Kingston and Rihanna can get all kinds of play from black people with shitty vocals but artists like Tamia can’t get any play whatsoever. There is a difference between being simply a singer and an artist and many of the people in the music industry fall into the singer category. After all of the consciousness, sometimes I need somethin to light to groove to. As far as “coonish music” comin from Alabama, there are artist such as Rich Boy and Ruben Studdard who sing and rap music with some substance and not just Alabama but the south in general.

There are good artist such as Outkast, UGK, TLC, 112, Jagged Edge, Monica. So before clownin the south….do your research and u will find that half of the music that comes from this region of the country is in your CD changer.

BTW….FYI…

Beyonce did do this dance in her show in Orlando, FL. The same show she fell onstage. It on Youtube and I will admit, she was clownin wit it.

I had to put a comment up about this song. I first saw the video last week on 106 and Park. Even then I was looking at the video like “what the f***”? I understand that everybody is trying to come up with a new dance but come on, this song sucks. It is catchy though but it just doesn’t make sense like half of the music out here today.
