IF YOU ARE 23 AND UP AND DOWING THIS MUSIC ….YOU NEED TO CUT IT OUT!!!…….AND HERE’S WHY….

When we were teenagers who were we dancing to? 2Pac, Biggie, Jay-Z, Nas, Snoop, Dre, Bone, Cash Money, No Limit, Luke, and so on and so on. Were they rapping positive lyrics on EVERY JOINT?…Hell No! They rapped about hoes, drugs, money, cars, and everything else too. And you couldn’t tell us nothing cuz we was JAMMIN our asses off to the shit!

And all the while the “older” people (ya mama, daddy, uncle, auntie, cuzin) would always say…… Yall listening to that garbage now days. What happened to the REAL music?

Stop tripping cause yall sound just like everybody before you who had a problem with our generations music. Its called change people.

really i just think that some people up north and on the west coast is just hatin because they region is not as hot as the south right now. And 4 someone to refer to the southern style of music as “coon music” let me know that you dont have an ounce of fun in your body!

What the hell has music become in the last four years?
I don’t want to see the vid, because the joint is horrible.
Everytime I hear this crap on the radio, I want to run knives in my ears.
This is a prime example why I only listen to my iPod.

******I don’t know what the hell he’s saying, so if he’s saying something foul then I take back what I’m about to say, LOL.******

Now this is for the kids, it’s catchy, and looks like it burns a helluva lot of calories. My highschool days are a few years behind me but trust I would be crankin’ right along with these youngins.

Folks love to look down on the youth getting their dance on knowing DAMN WELL that just yesterday they were shaking their own asses to some mindless shyt. Nobody wants to get their groove on to gospel or opera. People and their high horses, I tell ya — damn hypocrites, LOL!

Keep crankin dat, or superman-in it, or whateva the hell y’all doin….

CLEARMINDED, I CO-SIGN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I bet EVERYONE on here who has commented negatively at one point has dropped it like it’s hot/or bumped and grinded up against someone at a club to some song that would have made their grandparents drop dead of heart attacks had they been there watching them…

This is just a harmless dance song that yall are really catching high blood pressure over….It’s not that serious…Some of yall might even benefit from this song by loosing weight lol….Get those snappy snacks out ya mouth and dance!!!

I mean damn!!!! And for my 20 something people…Yall act like yall weren’t jammin’ to Kid-n-Play and Salt-n-Pepa back in the day when it was all about dancing and having a great time…..

Remember: “OH LA OH LA EYYYYY…ROLLIN’ ROLLIN’ ROLLIN’ WIT THE KID NOW!!!” Kid-n-Play…I mean that was a boo boo song if you think about it, but the dance was catchy and people were having fun…

And I know yall remember “PUSH IT” by Salt-n-Pepa…..I want one of yall 20 somethings to tell me you weren’t doing that dance in the video!!!!!!

You people need to get over yourselves!!!!!

Hell naw never agreed/cosigned on this nonsense. Even back at crazy ass Riverdale never like this shit. I’m probably the only one on here who thinks it’s “coonish” but whatever I don’t give a damn. It’s not music and it’s not dancing…

It be different if it was like….”We are tryna get the kids off the street and off the drugs by dancing.” But they find a way to sneak some drug/alcohol/gang/violent/misogynistic lyric or message in their songs. It may be a “party jam” but don’t call it music. YOUR ALBUM WILL NOT SELL IF YOU JUMP ON THIS BANDWAGON TRUST!!!

Your songs will be downloaded heavily and not bought. Just like Mims, Boosie, Yung Berg…..all them jokers thought they could get away with not really rapping with some wack ass lyrics look where it got them….Berg sold 19,000 his first week WTF???

I just needed to vent…let the bashing begin…I am leaving work will check back after the Falcons game is over…

The problem is there are too many songs like souljah boy and not enough of the more conscious songs. It’s that simple but Souljah Boy like many other artist i.e J-Kwon will be a one hit wonder. I’m 20 and far from old, and I totally agree with what many posters have said. I feel like years ago there was a balance between the bullshit music and the good music. Now that balance does not exist. I mean Sean Kingston is a complete joke. He is the male version of Rihanna in my opinion and trust me that is not a good thing. Sean Kingston and Rihanna can get all kinds of play from black people with shitty vocals but artists like Tamia can’t get any play whatsoever. There is a difference between being simply a singer and an artist and many of the people in the music industry fall into the singer category. Almost anyone can sing and be called a singer American Idol is a perfect example of this but there are a handful of people out there right now that can be considered artists.

@ 71 Mixed Ma it’s hard to consider someones opinion when what they type shows an apparent diffuclty in mastering subject-verb agreement. What you typed was a bunch of gibberish. Come back when you can type coherently and grammatically correct. Then people will take what you wrote seriously

79 i feel you. i mean its not soulja boy’s fault that so many other hits with the same concept came out before him && influenced his song. just like walk it out, 2 step, cupid shuffle and all that.. this is whats in right now. plus it is still summer time so i do agree with how this song would only appeal to the teenage crowd. i would think thats what he aimed for with this song.

in conclusion, i would like to thank Rocsi and Terrence for mentioning how they aint even gunna attempt to do the dance when the video came out. lol if you know you cant get down to it, then stand to the side cus you WILL look ridiculous.

Kids NEED to be listening to “Superman dat hoe”?

WTF?

IMO kids need to be listening to uplifting and encouraging music. I don’t think Obama got where he is today by Supermanin dem hoes or leanin, or rockin, snappin, two steppin, poppin, droppin, etc…

BTW, remember Gospel music?

Some ppl are takin this waaayyyyyy too seriously. If u don’t like it, CUT IT OFF! All rap music is not for everybody and all rap music is different. After all of the consciousness, sometimes I need somethin to light to groove to. As far as “coonish music” comin from Alabama, there are artist such as Rich Boy and Ruben Studdard who sing and rap music with some substance and not just Alabama but the south in general.

There are good artist such as Outkast, UGK, TLC, 112, Jagged Edge, Monica. So before clownin the south….do your research and u will find that half of the music that comes from this region of the country is in your CD changer.

BTW….FYI…

Beyonce did do this dance in her show in Orlando, FL. The same show she fell onstage. It on Youtube and I will admit, she was clownin wit it.

instead they (whoever dances to this stuff in clubs) have to dance to trashy stupid lyrics all the time.

i am from the atl and they play this mess on the radio 24/7. instead of making songs on myspace and youtube he needs to be trying to graduate and not become another black male drop out static, b/c i can bet you he is not in school or getting tutored.
this song is not for kids and a kid should not be rapping it talking about hoes and crap. this is why our black youth are the most lost and left behind in the world b/c some of us do not see anything wrong with these types of songs.

When I first heard the song, I thought it was stupid as hell…Now, I still think it’s stupid as hell, but I gotta admit, the dance is my Cardio….lol….that shyt burns calories like crazy…

And to whoever said that you’ll get talked about in the clubs doing this dance, I don’t know shorty, but they are playing this track in ALL clubs and people are doing it, so if anything YOUUUUUUUUUUUUU might be the one looking crazy turning your nose up at people at the club when it’s all about having fun!

Loosing up people, all rap isn’t suppose to be serious….Don’t get me wrong Mos Def, Talib Kweli, and Common are in my top dope MC list, but sometimes you just gotta have fun yall….

……I can’t beleive some of the things I’ve read….

I come back to find people supporting this garbage and giving reasons on why little 3rd graders should be “superman-ing that hoe.”

I couldn’t give a damn if you aint got some corny ass song to dance to at your party. If you think everybody who despises this song is a “homebody” than you can go kill yourself too because when it comes down to it, you still have kids who can remember every last “hoe” used in this song but cant read for shit. I can’t fathom parents who would let their kids listen to songs or songs that are similar.

For whoever said songs like “Bed” are worst than this make my fukkin skin crawl. How dare you call this garbage music. I am offended on behalf of real artists, dancers, and performers who can’t make it in mainstream music without conforming to some “coonish” stereotype. I rather you get your party fix off of “Get Me Bodied” than “Crank” anything. Soulja Boy and others like him are capitalist and jump on the latest trend to make money off of it. Hell yeah it’s a hustle, but not the kind where there’s any work involved.

You got (real) artists out here bustin their asses for deals and some airtime but can’t get any because of this garbage all over the airways. I swear I hear something getting “Cranked”, “Youd”, or “Walked” every 7 minutes on the radio. Seriously. Don’t let this shit corrupt you. Teaching kids improper grammar and just being wild. CALM YOUR ASSES DOWN. Every jam aint got to be like this. If we can’t make a party song without demeaning women (or our race), cursing, and other things than Music is in a sad state of emergency. Be a leader and not a follower. Set your own trends and stop being a groupie. Be yourself and make people want to be like you.

Co-damn-sign to the fullest!

I don’t think this song was meant to be taken seriously. Therefore, I will not take it seriously and only think of it as song to dance too. I like dancing and it’s a fun dance!!!
BUT…………..
If, I were to take it seriously it does promote violence and degrade women. Like the line ” Super soak dat hoe.” Soulija boy is gonna have his little time in fame. If, he has any talent or a business mind he’ll last and if he doesn’t. We’ll hear from him for this year and then the next year onto the next Soulija boy, Hurricane Chris or Sean Kingston.

But this song def about to BLOW UP tho. I was watching TRL when the video premiered the white kids were eating it Up.

ALSO…….
This song has been out for months. I heard it in like May, but whatever.

This song is so bad!!!! Didn’t we already have 8 other dance rap songs that ended up doing well with ringtones and single sales, but their albums FLOPPED hard?

That’s what all these little gimmick (one-hit wonder) rappers do. They get their one hit in and then their done (D4L, Dem Franchize Boys, Crime Mob, Huey…).

Wasn’t this the same type of rap music that Don Imus was trying to put the blame on with the use of the word “hoe?”…This fool is in the song saying “superman dat hoe” and “supersoak dat hoe”

“Crank Dat” is nothing more than “Lean Wit It Rock Wit It” and the people who are dumb enough to actually buy into it need to READ A BOOK!

Nothing wrong with wanting to dance ever now and then, but god damn, that’s ALL u hear now..The suits are trying to kill hip hop and alot of people are too ignorant to even notice. It’s like u can’t even get play on radio unless u dancin.Anything else is considered too intelligent. It’s funny that NONE of these wack ass dance songs,or gimmicky ass chantin songs sell any albums once they come out,but labels will still, give the people a deal like they the hottest thing out..Radio will play them 100 times a day,and they still flop..Hip Hop’s not all the way dead, but it’s on it’s last legs..
Once the Kanye’s,Common’s,50’s Snoop’s,T.I’s,Luda’s,and the rest of the olderc cats in the game retire, who will we have to really listen to ??

R.K.J.ville3000’s comments stuck out the most but i agreed with the majority of yall who were probably doing what I was doing when I heard the song and read these comments….

laughing…and shaking my head.

…had to let out a loooooong sigh before i put my .27 cents worth in. I stop listening to the radios years ago. i might turn it on for a laugh or two here and there but that’s about it. I’m 25 almost and i would NNNNEVER allow my son to listen to this. lol… the blind leading the blind. Personally, i put down my windows and turn up my jazz n blues and my classic R&B more than crap—oops i mean rap, or hip-hop. BTW i do enjoy music by artists like Talib Kweli, The Roots, Mos Def, etc. And R&B-wise, right now it’s all about DWELE…>sigh

Monday, August 13, 2007 /

I had to put a comment up about this song. I first saw the video last week on 106 and Park. Even then I was looking at the video like “what the f***”? I understand that everybody is trying to come up with a new dance but come on, this song sucks. It is catchy though but it just doesn’t make sense like half of the music out here today. But I should expect something like this since the industry is slowly falling apart when it comes to good talent. But I must admit when people younger then me do the dance and do it right it’s kind of cool.

190.

Got me Feelin the Blues...and Lovin it

Monday, August 13, 2007 /

…but anyway. The main point i want to make is that you can take an artist…any artist. You may not agree with EVERY word that they sing/rap about, but generally you will enjoy their style because for the majority of the time they have a decent positive message. But when you take an artist and their lyrics are about “HOs”, “guns” or whatever else make sure you stick to the fact that it’s just something to dance to…don’t say it’s for kids. Hmmmm, here’s a thought, maybe that’s why kids act and talk the way they do now, because of songs like THISSSSS. I know a lot of people are going to read only part or skip over my comment but the truth of the matter is, yes, he’s making money legally BUT STILL TALKING ABOUT ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES…. “then i’m Cockin on your b**** a**” wooow. Song like this that KIDS see ADULTS dancing to and condoning, lets them know that it’s ok to talk and behave that way. Agree with that or not but let me ask you this…

YOU THINK THE SONG AND THE DANCE IS CUTE??? WOULD YOU THINK IT WAS CUTE FOR YOUR CHILD (or any child for that matter) SAYING ALL THE LYRICS IN THAT SONG TO YOOOOOOOOOOOU???…didn’t think so

191.

Listening Public:….thank you Industry

Industry: Hey it worked, now let’s but more music out with worse lyrics now that we know that the majority of the Listening Public doesn’t care WHAT the artsit is talking about…they just want to have fun and daaaaaaance….oh and let their kids do the same thing they do of course…

@ # 13 Rock The Boat, thats not him in the black, thats his crank man (hype man in other words, but since it’s nothing but dancing going on they use the word “crank man”) When I heard this for the first time on the radio I was so upset because I’m so tired of hearing these type of songs. Niggas getting a few stanks and ain’t talkin’ bout shit. But they play it so much in Atlanta, you really don’t have a choice but to like. So the song has grew on me over the last month or so…but still I don’t like the fact that there’s no lyrical content in the song (well hardly any song these days have lyrical content). It was good to see a few celebs in the video, i guess thats a good look for him. My fiance lil brother be wearing this shit out, he be all on Youtube.com everyday to find something related to this song. The dance is kinda cute though if you do it right. But know they got shit on Youtube.com called “Crank that spiderman” and “Crank that Batman” All this shit is getting ridiculous. But I guess there’s nothing we can do about it, songs these days are just not the same and that’s the way it goes. Things change, ppl change and so do seasons. When you look at it we really can’t expect for music to stay the same, if it did we’ll be bored and tired ass hell of it right about know, so I guess the bullshit they got out now give us something to talk about
