I think I understand what Brian was hinting at, but in this case I don’t believe that his argument is relevant. The idea of whites stealing “black” music was onlly relevant when they were trying to pass it off as their own and when they were denying the talent of blacks. In this case, Mandy moore doesn’t appear to be doing that and Rihanna’s song was in the top ten for a while. I think it’s important to look at situations with a eye on race but in this case Brian it doesn’t fit.

I heard this on the Hills the other night to. I thought it was just for the Hills soundtrack because thats the kind of vibe the Hills normally has. I didnt think she was like making a single or something. A Black artist may have recorded the song but you must remember Rhianna is not an R&B artist. If she was of another race, nobody would put her in that category. The majority of Rhianna’s songs are Pop. Umbrella was her first top 20 hit on the R&B charts. Her songs are hits on Pop radio.

LC was so damn boring to me. Running after Stephen - he was having her and Kristin when he wanted to but it was always Kristin fault. But Stephen was the one dogging her out. She is borderline undercover weak as hell.

rhianna ’s version is 10x better…..WTF are ya’ll talking about. Rhianna gives the song an edge and she makes it exciting where as mandy’s version puts you to sleep like in 2 seconds.
