I think its hypocritical to criticize Beyonce for ‘dissing’ her culture, when the majority of us (Beyonce included) don’t know about our own. When our kids grow up learning more about hip hop, than our African heritage. When we continue to support artists that refer to women as bitches and hoes, and each other as niggas. Sometimes I wish I was apart of a culture of unity, not degradation and separation. Sometimes I wish I was apart of a culture of peace, not violence and anger. I cannot speak for JSCENE, I do not want to, either…but I will say it: I don’t like her. Is that rewarding to the people who seem to have wanted, so long, for someone to overtly say it?? Well, I have, now. I do not like Beyonce.
Unfortunately, though, it has little to do with Beyonce. Hear me out. I don’t like her because she personifies this blind, thriftless attachment to beauty. I think women envy Beyonce because she’s an oppressing figure, oppressing because someone has decided to imbue, undeservedly, her with all these qualities. She is beautiful, so not only must we recognize her for the talents she possesses, but for those she doesn’t as well. She is an astute writer, a skilled actress, and a fashion savvy woman of the world…and why? Surely, she’s none of those things…but she is, in our culture, because she looks the way she does. In other words, people like looking at her, they like looking, period. So, they want the astute writer, the skilled actress, and the fashion savvy woman of the world to LOOK good, as everything for them is retinal… Ya get me?? Beyonce represents this oppressing occupation with beauty… And, so, I’ll say it. I don’t like her.

like seriously… i read these blogs where they try to be negative and put good people down.. whether it’s cause their life sucks or they are just purely insecure as a person… she obviously just worded what she was saying wrong and you negative people just take it and run with it because you dont have anything else better to do. I think people are gonna twist this and run with it. Not saying Beyonce is the brightest bulb in the pack, but I can understand what she was trying to say. They do have a very vibrant culture and it is worthy of envy sometimes when you look at what we’re forced to call “black culture” in the USA. There’s very little to celebrate post 70’s to the present. We’ve been idle for too long and it’s time for our future generation to get out the damn TV and hit the books.

in regards to number 220………………. hating is for people who don’t have lives. I have one with a career, car and husband. So i’m not hating as i stated she is a role model and it doesn’t matter if she was trying to impress someone or not she should have chosen her words better then she did. It’s called thinking before you speak which is obviously YOUR problem and HER.
