BEYONCE: “I’M JUST JEALOUS THAT I WASN’T BORN LATINA”

Saturday, September 8, 2007

belatina.jpg
Beyonce stirs debate yet again //

Believe it or not, Beyonce has stirred up more debate across the internet again. The singer who was recently interviewed by Latina Magazine, spoke on her cross-over appeal, as well as her success with singing in Spanish.

When she was asked a question about her Latina fans, Beyonce responded with a comment that is sure to cause some drama around her camp. Read on:

Latina: What’s one thing that you’d like to tell your Latina fans?

Beyonce: I would thank them for embracing me. I did radio (promotions) this morning for hours and hours and I noticed a big difference between speaking to all of the Latino stations and speaking to the pop stations or the other stations. With the Latino stations, there was so much love and everyone is so genuine. I’m just jealous that I wasn’t born Latina. I wish I had been because the culture is so beautiful. I’m very grateful Latinos are embracing me. [ CLICK HERE TO READ FULL INTERVIEW ]

I hate to be blunt, but you can’t be that popular and consistently be unable to give a proper interview. She really needs to take some classes in public speaking, ASAP! Also, I would have to agree with Brown Sista and say Beyonce was probably doing some “butt-kissing” and it just came out wrong. Now, let’s see how this new “b-drama” is going to unfold.

What’s your take on her comment?

Oh, and on the MTV music awards tonight, it was reported she almost let her breasts fall out again because she asked someone to help pull her dress up before they came out. The girl don’t even have breasts but apparently, she don’t mind them flying from under or above her outfits.

I agree with #19’s comment, who cares? I think if people really take this seriously they’re making a big deal out of nothing. I like Beyonce and all, but we all know the girl is a little slow to say the least and this is a prime example. Anybody with any common sense would have never let something like that come out of their mouth.

I personally feel that people are misconstruing what this woman stated. She simply stated that she’s jealous she wasn’t born latina, because though she isn’t apart of their culture, they embraced her with much love as though she were. So, that made her think that hey! if they welcomed me with this much admiration as a black entertainer, I could only imagine how it would be if I were latina. because for 1 we as a black culture don’t stick together and the hispanic culture DOES! We consistently tear one another down! just to make ourselves seem better. I don’t blame her one bit, even if she did mean what she said I totally concur. I mean prime example look at what everyone who’s posted a comment opposing her response is doing, Repremanding this woman and calling her dumb, stupid, and not very articulate. I wish to know just how any of you would conduct yourselves and how articulate you would be if given the opportunity to be interviewed.

COME ON Y’ALL. ITS NOT THAT SERIOUS. HOW IS THAT WE CAN ALWAYS READ SOMETHING AND INTERPRET IT WITH A NEGATIVE PERCEPTION. ALL SHE WAS DOING IS COMPLIMENTING THE LATIN CULTURE WHICH IS A VERY VIBRANT & ENTERTAINING & INTERESTING & DIVERSE CULTURE. I READ THIS ONCE, AND NEVER DID I GET FROM IT THAT SHE WAS SELLING OUT OR REGRETING BEING BLACK. I LOVE LATIN CULTURE AS WELL AND THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG WITH WHAT SHE SAID. AND THEN AGAIN MAYBE ITS BECAUSE I’M 43, AND PROBABLY A LITTLE OLDER THAN MOST PEOPLE WHO READ THIS SITE AND COMMENT. HENCE, I DON’T ALWAYS TRY TO NEGATIVELY INTERPRET SOMETHING SOMEONE SAYS. MAYBE WE NEED MORE OPEN MINDED 40 SOMETHING BLOGGERS!!!!!!!!!!

There’s an old saying, “kids are better seen than heard”. So should this girl. I’ve heard that Beyonce was slow- this interview proved it. She contradicted herself and insulted her race in the process. True, it’s not that serious, and she did it for PR, but dont diss the races who put you on the map while you’re trying to gain another race’s approval to make money off of them bimbo. Wow, I had no idea this girl was this SLOW. She should just stick to entertaining and give no more interviews. I agree with other comments, the girl is like a robot. If someones commands her to dance, she breaks out into those convulsive moves, if they yell sing, she screechs and wines out a tune, if someone yells interview, you start hearing the crickets until someone hands her a cue card on what to say.

Jayz has probably delayed marrying her, because all these years he’s been teaching her how to say “I do” and the rest of the wedding vows so she can get it right. LOL!!!! But seriously, I think that family’s greed for money is getting the best of them, now they are going after the Latino community. If I were Latino I would not be flattered by her making Spanish versions of her songs, because according to her interview, she’s not learning Spanish because she loves it so much, she’s only learning just enough to sing her songs in Spanish to make money off of them. I bet if you repeat her songs in Spanish to her right now, she would not have a clue on what you just said. Not impressive.

It’s Possible that Beyonce isn’t the most articulate person in the world, and MAYBE she was trying to show her Latina fans honor & respect.

That said, she DIDN’T say that she wished she wasn’t black.

I think she was just trying to convey that she admires the Latino culture.

She SHOULD have just stated that she listens to Latino music, and she like Latino music, and left it at that.

Beyonce isn’t a great communicator.
She made a mistake in issuing that particular comment

Lula Pear said:

Are you shocked that she misspoke? She’s an idiot…She also said people didn’t flock to her character in Dream Girls because she wasn’t a stereotype… People don’t take her seriously, or else that would have made the press as either her calling Jennifer Hudson’s character/performance a perpetuation of a stereotype OR saying that black people aren’t accustomed to “classy, understated” (her words) representations of themselves…. Cause she was definitely doing both those things, but nobody cared because nobody takes her serious… She’s an idiot with a list of adjectives (I’m not being funny, I really think she has a list of adjectives. Is it just me or has anyone else noticed adjectives are the whole of her vocabulary?????)

If she gets love from another culture and is embraced by others more than she is HER OWN people than I don’t fault her one bit for what she said.

Monday, September 10, 2007 /

The level of hypocrisy on this site is off the meter today. I’m shocked. lol.

There was so much anger, hate and practical death threats when Polow Ding Dong made his comments. And when ya’ll find out brothers want to date only a certain type of woman (White, Asain, etc) ya’ll are ready to boycott everything they touch, sell and endorse. lol. Yet this Black girl that millions of other Black girls admire and adore literally says she wishes she was born something other than Black and a lot of yall want to overlook her comment. lol. I don’t get it. Why does she get treated differently? Why is the standard different? Is it because people think Latinos are closer to Blacks in cultural background and heritage than Whites and therefore her statement carries less weight? Dumb as hell.

Yes, this chick has the IQ of a staple but that’s no excuse. She’s been around long enough to know what she means, mean what she says and say what she means. When someone SAYS they wish they were born something else there’s a certain level of seriousness to that statement. How many of you have ever said “I wish I was born (fill in the blank)…And if you did say it, how many of you really didn’t mean it?
Beyonce has been accepted by every damn culture in the world. The girl is a mega-star. She’s crossed over so much her ass is tangled. lol. Her statement is not about getting a pass. It was a Freudian slip that was a slap to Black people. Notice how she says ‘…between speaking to all of the Latino stations and speaking to the pop stations or the “other” stations.’ What other stations could she be referring to?? Country, Alternative, Rock???? lol. She straighted up dissed yall and she’s sraight-up saying that Black people are haters and she means it. She just messed around and got that shit in print.

I have a lot of problems with Black people but I would never want to be anything other than who I am. The grass is not always greener. It just goes to show the culture we’ve become. If you’re fine (subjective) and can shake your ass, you utter words that literally translate into pure self-hate and you can get a pass. That’s why no one got on Halle for saying she wished she was all White. SMDM for real on this one.

My take on this: If you believe that this statement of hers is no big deal then you shouldn’t have had problem with Polow’s.

Bey’s terrible with public speaking. I’ve been saying that for quite some time. I used to think that she was a well-trained debutante type but even debutantes can string a sentence along better than she can.

She’s done worse though. When she was on Ellen, Ellen told her about how when Jay was on her show, she asked him what are the endearing things about Bey. He said the usual: kind, good heart, blah, blah, blah. Bey was asked the same question & she said : “He’s very smart & he’s a good businessman.” :-\ = negro please

Maybe Beyonce is ringing up a lot of Latino Record sales ???

‘Bello Embustero (Beautiful Liar),’ From Beyonce’s Oye! Award-Winning ‘B’DAY Deluxe Edition,’ Grabs Latin Grammy Nomination for Record of the Year

NEW YORK, Aug. 30 /PRNewswire/ — Beyonce’s “Bello Embustero (Beautiful Liar),” her duet with Shakira from “B’DAY Deluxe Edition,” picked up a Latin Grammy Record Of The Year nomination, announced Wednesday, August 29, at a press conference attended by national and international media in Miami. The 8th Annual Latin Grammy Awards — scheduled for Thursday, November 8 at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas — will be broadcast live on the Univision Network from 8 - 11 p.m. ET/PT (check your local listings).

Beyonce’s Latin Grammy Record Of The Year nomination closely follows the announcement that the international superstar’s “B’DAY Deluxe Edition” had taken home Mexico’s coveted Oye! Award as “Best International Album of the Year.” The Oye! Awards ceremony was aired on Televisa, the #1 television channel in Mexico.

News of Beyonce’s Latin Grammy nomination and Best Album honors happily coincides with this week’s release of “Irreemplazable,” her new eight track Spanish language EP featuring select songs from “B’DAY.” “Irreemplazable” — a compilation of original material and tracks from “B’DAY” and “Dreamgirls” including the Spanish chart-topping “Amor Gitano” — is available now.

The original version of Beyonce’s “B’DAY” won this year’s Grammy for Best Contemporary R&B Album, bringing Beyonce’s lifetime Grammy total up to 10 (seven as a solo artist and three won with Destiny’s Child).

Beyonce’s Oye! winning “B’DAY Deluxe Edition” premieres, in addition to the original 12 tracks from “B’DAY,” five brand-new songs in English, the expanded album’s first single, the Latin Grammy nominated “Beautiful Liar,” a superstar duet between Beyonce and Shakira, and six new Spanish language tracks including “Amor Gitano,” Beyonce’s sensuous flamenco-pop duet with Latin Grammy-winning superstar Alejandro Fernandez. Co-written by Beyonce with Grammy-winning songwriters/recording artists Reyli Barba and Jaime Flores and produced by Grammy-winning producer Rudy Perez, “Amor Gitano” can be heard as the theme music for “Zorro: La Espada y La Rosa (The Sword and the Rose),” a telenovela (serialized television soap opera) on Telemundo (check your local listings).

The award-winning album also includes Spanish language versions of “Listen (Oye)” and “Irreplaceable (Irreemplazable)” and three new mixes of “Beautiful Liar.”

“B’DAY,” Beyonce’s second solo album, closed out 2006 as one of the year’s most successful albums. A bona fide international success, “B’DAY” has achieved platinum plus status in the United States (3x platinum), the United Kingdom (2x platinum), Australia (platinum), Canada (platinum), Japan (platinum) New Zealand (platinum), and reached #1 on the United World Chart (2x platinum).

Released around the world on September 4, 2006 (September 5 in the U.S.) to coincide with the artist’s 25th birthday, Beyonce’s “B’DAY” entered the Billboard Top 200 at #1, with first week’s sales of more than 541,000 pieces, achieving the year’s highest first week’s sales of any female recording act, group or solo, and the fifth highest chart debut of the year of any artist, male or female. (The pop superstar’s first solo album, 2003’s Grammy-winning Dangerously In Love, also debuted in the #1 slot.)

“B’DAY” peaked at #1 on Billboard’s Top 200, Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and U.S. Internet album charts and remains a constant in the upper reaches of the Top 200.

“Deja Vu” (featuring Jay-Z), the first single from B’DAY, reached #1 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop chart and #1 on the Hot Dance Singles Sales chart while its follow-up, “Ring The Alarm,” hit #1 on the Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart and #3 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop chart. The album’s single, “Irreplaceable,” reached #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 Singles chart (10 weeks in a row) and #1 on the R&B Singles chart (9 weeks in a row). Music World-Columbia Records

Classic Beyonce Blonde Moment. I enjoy Beyonce as an entertainer, but Beyonce is notorious for her speaking habits, which leaving nothing to be desired. That’s why she doesn’t talk much. She is also a chameleon, who adapts to whatever she is talking about at the time.

You can enjoy a culture without wanting to BE that culture, that’s not the issue. It’s one thing to give someone a compliment, it’s another thing to indicate envy over not BEING them. That’s only ammunition for the folks (not latinos per se) that try to mimic us without BEING us. We are NOT talking about Afro Caribbeans, Afro Cubans, etc. She is NOT one of them. Period.

The issue is regardless to who and what you are, (black, white, brown, or a mixture of that), be who you are and enjoy the others along the ride.

I’m disappointed at the comment, but not surprised.

^ That’s exactly my point. Once you’ve reached a certain pinnacle in your career, you don’t need to work that much harder to gain more fans. That’s like Marilyn Manson saying Blacks are the best race on earth and all Blacks running out to buy his album. People either like you (or your music) or they don’t. Beyonce couldn’t be stupid enough to think that her saying she wishes she was born Latina means more Latin people will run out and buy her records. Even she said it in her interview: good music is good music. So if they weren’t feeling her before she made that statement, they certainly won’t feel her afterwards … unless she thinks Latinos are just as dumb as she seems. lol

When I think about other cultures that are making music for something other than their own community, I immediatly think of:
Alan Thicke, Joss Stone , Amy Winehouse, Justin Timberlake

I would imagine at some point in the entertainers that I listed above careers, that they PROBABLY made a statement saying that they honor & respect Black Music or Black Culture.

Beyonce said that she admires Latino’s/Hispanics.

Although she should NOT have said she wished she was Latino, I think that what she was trying to convey is RESPECT for their culture.

Beyonce just doesn’t know how to artuculate her thoughts properly

Sometimes we need to be more encouraging and stop bashing people, because truth be told if you look back at something’s you have said or tried to say and did not come out correctly you would not be so quick to judge, because we all fall short sometimes, your not exposed because your not nationally known.

I think she was just trying to convey respect for the latin culture. And a lot of us here can agree that this woman-child is not the brightest apple in the basket.

She just cannot give good interview because she’s not very well educated. If Mathew was so damn saavy, he would have made sure she buckled down on her studies, even the basic shit, while he was “grooming” his fembot for fame. At this point, all I have is pity for her. Some might say why pity her, she’s rich as fuk and don’t give a damn about us, but I can help but feel sorry for somebody who probably tries REALLY hard to stop her mind from playing an endless loop of the Scarecrow’s song from The Wizard of Oz, If I Only Had A Brain .

#232: lmao.

this just goes to show all the world that celebrities are just as normal as us regular folk. we should be very aware that beyonce isn’t the most articulate person in the world. and maybe (JUST MAYBE) this is one of the following:

1. an attempt to embrace her latin fans
2. she had a hard time articulating what she wanted to say
3. she was mis-quoted by Latina Magazine

or maybe she just wants be a dang ol’ latina! we’ve all been there where we we wished that our hair was curlier or our nose was smaller, maybe even being a different race. bashing her (completely) is just a waste of time.

Monday, September 10, 2007 /

@ FLY CHIC,
I’m not directly comparing Polow’s statement to hers. The gist of what I’m saying is that a lot of Black folks got up in arms over his statement about his preference and him saying Black women were raised “different.” However, some of the same people treat it as no big that Beyonce — one of the few Black people that’s internationally recognized as a sensational Black Woman — says she wishes that she was born something other than Black. Peep the irony. Which one is really more of a slap to the Black race?

I see severe ignorance in both their comments. The main comparison here is that both of these celebrities are short-sighted and made statements that are insulting to their race. However, only one is literally crucified by their own race for it. The other one was given a free ride because she is “stupid, ignorant, airheaded, inarticulate” etc.

341.

GO

Monday, September 10, 2007 /

BEYONCE AND JENNIFER LOPEZ SHOULD SWITCH PLACES. I am not the least bit surprised. Although I am so PROUD OF CL, FOR PUTTING IT OUT THERE AND COMMENTING ON BEHALF OF BEYONCITA’S STUPIDITY. Unfortunately, African American women will continue to support Beyonce, and the KNOWLES clan; buying her less than mediocre records AND house of dodo clothing line. It was clear from the get go, what Beyonce’s role in Destiny’s child was, and what her purpose in the industry is today. And that is to set the standard. Beyonce is the “new” standard for African American women. It’s bad enough that we have to battle stereotypical fabrications where education is concerned in our communities. But now we have to battle our own kind; defending our selves against racially charged insinuations about being “black” in this country. Now I’m not saying she’s the first to do it, I mean black on black hate is a part of “NEGRO” history. But it says a lot when one of the most popular female “African American” singers in the industry down plays her own culture, and expresses publically that she would have preferred being born Latina. And for those of you who are not at least, bothered or disturbed by Beyonce’s recent comments; you have another thing coming. This is exactly why the recent wave of racial slurs and insensitive comments being made toward blacks are accepted. Because we don’t appear too rattled by them. I bet no (by one I mean black) publications are going to address Beyonce, or her camp about it. They’re going to let it slide; and the people around her are going to make excuses for her actions, and the media; since its mostly geared towards white people and for white people are going to laugh it off, and feed on it. And this is going to be added to Beyonce’s collection of ridiculous things to say. Beyonce has gone untouched for too long. But I will admit that the media by enlarge are major enablers. That is why she gets away with saying such crap; she’s protected, big time. I don’t think she’s ever been confronted for any of the stunts she’s pulled. I’m glad people are staring to catch on, and are calling her out.
I put a dime on it: That she’s going to release another urban album the black community is going to buy it, and support it. SO SAD. WHY US GOD, WHY US. Way to go Beyonce, what ever keeps you on top. We are the butt of every ones jokes people. Even empty avocado brain Beyonce.

I find it so funny that the same people that support and defend her feel justified in saying that she’s really uneducated and shouldn’t be taken so seriously. So what exactly does that say about who some Blacks hold in esteem? If anyone else had come out and said that they would’ve been torn to pieces on this blog. And believe that they wouldn’t be calling themselves “haters” for not supporting that person.

Someone calls her a roboho and it’s off with their head. She says she wants to be something else and it’s blown off. This is yet another example of Blacks in denial. We stay supporting the wrong things out of fear of being called haters but never want to hold our most adored and admired stars accountable when they “F” up. This is why people like Marion Barry stay getting paid with taxpayer money.

And for the record, there was no twisting of her words in this interview. She has made it clear that she won’t do interviews unless her own recoder is on.

You know how may “black” people have said I wish I was “white” “then I would not have to be subjected to the racial profiling, being turned down because of being black, to have doors just open for them”? Excellent point. I feel you 100%. You would just think that with all the wealth, fame, success and notoriety she’s achieved WHILE being Black she wouldn’t have that much to complain about (like regular folks). lol. Beyonce didn’t get rich from selling only to Whites or Latins. Black people who stayed checking for her played a big role in making her who she is, whether or not she wants to believe that. She needs to be a little more grateful. Guess no matter how much some people have in this world it’s never enough though.

A few months ago, Halle Berry did a Interview in which she confessed that when she was growing up she wished that she was white, and that as an adult, she is insecure about her looks.

Quote:
April 24, 2006 Article
“Halle Berry And Her Insecurities”

“When Halle was growing up, she wished she was white so that she wouldn’t have had to struggle as hard as she did. The star has never been able to take compliments about her looks seriously. It goes to show you, no matter how beautiful you think someone is, they will always find fault in themselves.

Halle Berry used to pray she would be “cured” of being black. The stunning actress dreamed of finding a pill to turn her skin white when she was a child, according to The Sun newspaper.
The 39-year-old - who was the first black woman to win an Oscar, for her performance in Monster’s Ball - is quoted as saying: “Being a black woman I’ve struggled with that my whole life - feeling that if I changed, my life would be better.”

Meanwhile, the X-Men star has also confessed she is insecure about her stunning looks - despite being one of the most beautiful women in the world. The actress claims the fact she is frequently included on lists of the sexiest actresses doesn’t changed her mind about her appearance.

She said: “Although such things do wonders for my confidence, I’m never able to take them seriously. If they really knew me, they’d realize that I’m far from secure about my looks.”

Beyoncita’s fans are funny, when you have to reiterate her comment the you know there’s something wrong with that. She probably meant one thing but how she said it cleary offended many so stop making excuses for her. There were so many ways she couldve said that but because shes stupid her comment shouldnt offend me? because she has a mind of a toddler and feels the need to sell out to sell records I should be ok with that. Give me a break, dont tell me what she really meant to say when she clearly said what she meant. Ya’ll aint Mama knowles dont talk for her.

If this was a few years ago, I’d be defending Beyonce to the end! But lately she’s been getting on my damn nerves… how could she even let something like that come out of her mouth??? I really don’t get her… I think that comment was do to her stupidity in part and also due to her fakeness… I don’t know if it’s because she feels like she constantly being attacked by the public or what, but she’s been putting on this “fake/phony I’m so humble” act during every interview! I’m waiting to see how she’s going to bandage this boo boo… my advice to her would be to stop talking out of her a**!!!

P.S. for those of you who Beyonce’s dumb comment didn’t bother I think you all need to do some soul searching! I can’t speak for anyone else, but I know I AM PROUD TO BE OF AFRICAN DESCENT!!!! and I will not stand for anyone disrepecting my culture in anyway, no matter what their race or status might be! Bill O’Rielly is booed when he makes his comments about Luda and hip-hop as a whole… so why should Beyonce be cheered on??? and have her “fans” make excuses for her??? Think about it… BLACKS, AFRICAN AMERICANS, PEOPLE OF AFRICAN DESCENT, NEGROS, which ever you prefer… we have to start valuing ourselves and our culture way more than we do!

I knew it as soon as Beyonce said that, BLACK people were going to hate. I’m half black and half spanish ..

In the hispanic community nobody hates as much as black people..

just accept that she wishes she was spanish and suck it up.

I can’t stand when my own people hate on each other which is what mostly you all doing.

I can believe she said it in the first place but hey if that’s the way she feels then let it be and move on! DUH!

Honestly, this topic seems to have taken on a new life… There are, if you look, subsurface revelations far more interesting than her opportunistic illiterate banter… Many people have come into this topic, claiming to be of mixed heritage…lol It’s as if it’s this tag of superiority attached to it. I am not saying they’re lying (assuming that would be making it a big enough deal to lie about, thus affirming its believed “superiority”) but I am saying that people seem to be wearing it like a badge in this topic. Also, in another topic about Solange when some troll went on a hate-filled rant about skin tone, many posters were quick to assert their being lighter skinned while simultaneously admonishing the idiot for her rant.
Just looking, seeing…

I am so outdone with Beyawnce doing interviews and sticking her whole Manolo in her mouth. Get someone to teach you and help you do an interview so that while kissing the azz of one group of people, you don’t piss off a whole ‘nother group of people. Honestly, I’ve just had enough of her, and reading these ole simple azz quotes from her ain’t making it no better. I want her to go snuggle up with Joe Camel and hibernate for awhile.

TO # 3 who siad “I wonder what her AA female fans think of her now?” –

Exactly. I am not a beyonce fan, but my father is (go figure). I tell him how can he be a fan of someone who consistently says fucked up things in interviews. Now this! My father constantly is saying how I ought not to have low self esteem and be pround of who I am — but then you go and see and read things like this! Well anyway, I am proud of me. Beyonce only wishes she was latina because she wants to be shakira. I used to always say that Beyonce was copying Shakira’s look.

I agree LULA PEAR. I see these people who never flaunted a thing in their lives now roll up with Puerto Rican flags and bumper stickers and giving themselves nicknames like Spanish Mami. Whatever! I know this girl who was BLACK all through high school and now she’s “Jamaican and Spanish.” She says, “Do you know my papa is spanish and my mom is Jamaican.?” I am thinking: I’ve known you for 12 years, how come you are just not telling me this ..”

I’m disappointed that so many people think that as long as you have money it’s okay to be ignorant. I’m beside myself with this ‘business is business’ bullshyt. I mean, for real???? As long as it makes dollars, it makes sense? Stop it. And this whole “awww you hatin’ you hatin’” ish need to quit. I maintain that “hating” is when somebody got something that you wish you had and you mad at ‘em for it. Beyawnce ain’t got ISH I would trade my life for, and that’s real. A) I don’t worship money and B) I’d rather have poor wisdom than rich ignorance any day of the week. I keep reading “I mean, she didn’t say she wanted to be White” or “It ain’t like she ain’t proud to be black.” I watch what people say as well as what they DON’T say. If you hold anything that you are NOT in a higher esteem than what you ARE, that’s a problem. Moreover, why it got to be all the way bad (I wish I was White) before it becomes an issue?
This chick is role model to somebody, unfortunately, and so we can’t just gloss and glide over what she said. Okay. Chalk it up to she’s an idiot or she isn’t learned or she need a media coach. Okay. Fine. She SHOULD KNOW THIS BY NOW and the consumate professional would GET A MEDIA COACH, A BOOK and INVEST IN SOME KNOWLEDGE before letting the world get wind of how damn ignorant they are. There is a way to show gratitude to folks who support you without alienating others who care, or looking like an asshole in the process.
Being hot is good; being intelligent, humble, thoughtful and well-spoken is better.

OMG, PEOPLE!!! Beyonce does not have a damn complex about being a black woman, okay?? I love B, I’m a HUGE fan, all right? But I also know that she doesn’t give the best interviews at times…. okay, most of the time. All she was trying to do is suck up a little bit and it came out very very wrong! We know this! Why is everyone calling her stupid and retarded and saying she has a complex of some sort? “OMG, she doesn’t wanna be black! What a traitor!” Please! That girl is gorgeous and she knows it, even if she doesn’t flaunt it all the time. She doesn’t wish she was anyone or anything but her damn self. She made a mistake by not thinking her comment all the way through before she said it. Read the interview on the magazine website. You’ll see how short it is and how dumb the questions are. She was just trying to be friendly and she overdid it. She’s human. Get off her nuts and give the girl a break! Dayum!

@367 I agree with what was said. She SHOULD know this by now, but clearly she doesn’t. Yes, she does need a media coach of some sort. However, everybody is holding this against her like she’s not allowed to make mistakes. I don’t think it’s fair for people to have blown this up like it has. 350+ comments? Majority of them saying what she needs to do? This has clearly been blown out of proportion. Like I said, she was just trying to be nice and friendly, and it came out terribly wrong. Now the girl has to probably release a statement apologizing for her comment, as well she should, which will most likely then subject her to more ridicule. I’ll be glad when people stop looking up to celebrities and expecting them to behave like angels. It’s not realistic.

Since WHEN?!?!?? She’s been flauting sexy since day ONE. Are we talking about the same Beyonce? Hmmmm…. okay.

If this was the first time I’d seen this type of ish coming out of her mouth, I probably wouldn’t give it more than a funny glance. But it’s not. And where there’s smoke, there’s usually fire. But of course, it’s the interviews’ fault for being too stupid and too short, right? At what point are we ever going to make “stars” accountable for the ish they say and do????

Okay, fine. I’m saying she doesn’t blatantly go “look how hot I am”. She does take sexy pictures and videos, but she’s an entertainer, it is her role. I’m saying when you see her in a DECENT interview or see her in those “out on the street/in public” pics, do you see her looking like a Paris Hilton or porn star or something? TRYING to be sexy? No, you don’t. That’s what I mean by “flaunt” it. And anyway, that’s beside the point I was trying to make. What I’m saying is the same as I said before:

“She doesn’t wish she was anyone or anything but her damn self. She made a mistake by not thinking her comment all the way through before she said it. She was just trying to be friendly and she overdid it. She’s human. Get off her nuts and give the girl a break! Dayum!”

Oh, and this too:
