As some of you may know by now, The movie for “Sex & The City” (due out May 2008) has started filming in New York. Many fans, like myself have probably seen the candids floating around of the cast and their wonderful outfits.
Yesterday was Jennifer Hudson’s first day on the job. She plays the assistant to lead character Carrie (played by Sarah Jessica Parker) and new friend. How do you like her look? Obviously, she has some spunk to her because thats one spunky outfit…

September 25, 2007. Last week xxxxxx.com told you that Jennifer Hudson was starring in the Sex In The City movie – as Carrie Bradshaw’s assistant. But what we didn’t know at the time was that Jennifer wasn’t the producer’s first choice. A person who was instrumental in putting together the film spoke exclusively to xxxxx.com. And that person claims the producers originally cast Beyonce Knowles for the part.
According to our insider, Beyonce was all but assured the role. The source tells xxxxxxx.com, “[Beyonce} read for the role and everyone loved her. She was perfect."
But once they began negotiating Beyonce's contract, the trouble began. Our source explained, "Beyonce's management was pushing [producers] to have her wardrobe consist solely of [House Of Dereon] outfits. We told [them] that we couldn’t do that, but [they] just kept pressing us.”
Then, our insider claims, Beyonce’s team threatened to walk away from the deal. The insider told xxxxxxx.com, “I think it was just some kind of negotiating strategy [to act like] they weren’t interested, but it backfired. As soon as we started feeling that Beyonce was getting cold feet, we called in other actresses.”
And that’s when Jennifer Hudson came into the picture. Our insider tells, “We knew that Jennifer [Hudson] was interested so we had her read for the part. She was fantastic. She may not be as big a star as Beyonce but she has a strong following and she’s a talented actress … and most importantly, she didn’t have any crazy demands.”
The Sex In The City movie is currently filming in New York City. It’s set for release in May 2008.

The outfit is a bit much but Jennifer sho has the sass and personality to pull it off. I am just glad they didn’t have her looking a hot mess to make the aging Caucasian co-stars look better. All and all, Jennifer looks great and I am glad she is doing the damn thing! It looks like, considering her current and upcoming projects, she will avoid the dreaded Oscar curse (i.e. Cuba Gooding Jr., Jamie Foxx, Hilary Swank, Holly Hunter, Nicole Kidman… etc) BLACK STAR POWER!!!

Sex in the city always used the cutting edge of high fashion on the show with experimental styles and what not. I hate to say it but I dont think black folks are up on that and there fore don’t get the look the wardrobe person was going for as well as with the other girls. I honestly think people would be satisfied if she were wearing some kind of brown beige or black gown something they can relate too which defeats the purpouse of the fashion on the show in which this look is keeping up. Just look at the photos of the other cast memebers ont he set. Shjes dressed much int he same way. Black folks get up on things open your minds to soemthign other then cute jeans and slik yaki weaves my people , there are other aspect of fashion.

It’s funny how people want to make seem like they are sssooooo stylish and so they try to tell other people to step their game when in reality, they don’t have a clue what they are talking about. Jenny’s character is suppose to look unfashionable and not sylish. So, you CAN talk about the outfit and without feeling like you’re not hip or stylish.

I agree with ya # 31. Most Blacks are so “clothes” minded when it comes to fashion. Borrrrring. Everything in high fashion doesn’t matches to a T, but somehow all the different patterns and textures fuse together. Anyways, I’m so proud of Jen for getting that role. That’s a Big deal. I love Sex and the City and can’t wait for it to come out next year.

Okay, I remember when we talked about her getting that role here when it was first announced and a few of us were sort of worrying that they would go stereotypical, feisty secretary on us… Well, I’d thought about it, and I was like SJP would never coddle stereotypes…I kinda thought she’d be some young, artistic girl, the gen Y element in the movie… Her getups and expressions seem like I was right… I’m glad for her, I loved the show…but who didn’t?

the outfit looks like a typical sex and the city outfit so what’s the big deal? i personally would never wear it but it looks fine. sometimes not matching is refreshing. i’m sick of seeing hood chicks in white shirts with white belts and white shoes with white bags then gold hoop earrings with gold bracelets and gold necklaces with their name on it etc. i’m not really sure if her character should have style or not but she looks spunky to me and that’s cool
