As some of you may know by now, The movie for “Sex & The City” (due out May 2008) has started filming in New York. Many fans, like myself have probably seen the candids floating around of the cast and their wonderful outfits.
Yesterday was Jennifer Hudson’s first day on the job. She plays the assistant to lead character Carrie (played by Sarah Jessica Parker) and new friend. How do you like her look? Obviously, she has some spunk to her because thats one spunky outfit…
Soleil Moon Frye aka Punky Brewster should have one that job over Jen Hudson.. Shoot, she invented that style!
I kinda think, too, they’re tricking us… they know a good deal of this movie’s appeal is the wardrobe… I’ve sorta convinced myself most of the things we’re seeing are decoy outfits and there’s some super secret filming going on underground…I know it’s not, as they’ve said time and time again, the city is a character in the show/movie…
Did I miss the moment when stirrup leggings came back in style???

Fashion is all subjective to one taste… I find Jennifer outfit cute and sexy as hell.. But then again I am more into the sophisticated business woman look more so than the hoody skant look. Like I said fashion is one personal taste.

It is called wearing clothes for your size/shape. Jennifer ususally dresses like she’s 100lbs lighter than she really is. Good look.

She is playing a character in a movie which means THEY DRESS HER. I’m pretty sure that outfit is not something Jen would personally wear…DUMBA$$ES!! She has no control over the dayum wardrobe for the movie. SMH

I’m not sure what I think …she looks pretty in the face, but to put a thick chick in all those clashing prints…what works on Carrie might not work on someone who outweights her by 65 pounds…however, that’s Patricia Field’s style and it’s fashion forward. You can at least say they got the assistant looking cute and they put a black girl in the mix which they rarely did in the show. Just glad JHud still has a career she could have been a trivia question….

The pieces individually may be stylish and trendy but my opinion is that its does not work overall together as an outfit. Everyone has their own idea of whats fashionable.I used to watch Sexy and The city (the show) so I see how Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah J.Parker)dresses. Shes worn many an outfit that I wouldnt be caught dead in,but it somehow looks nice on her.She carries it off differently than I or another woman would. I love the boots,I’d even wear them the bag too,but just not with that dress/coat.Just because you take a bunch of name brand shyt and put it all on together doesnt mean that it will look good! The stylist is just doing what shes used to doing on the set of sex in the city ,but again doesnt mean it works for everyone.This is not to dispute how attractive Jennifer Hudson is,its simpy to comment on that outfit,and its a mess!
I remember reading on CL a while back that J-Hud wouldn’t partake in a movie that has nudity? This obviously isn’t true. I’m sure the movie will have plenty of that. I have never watched the show personally I just heard about it.

She did not make top pay in Dreamgirls (and Winged Creatures was also not a starring role), because she was an unknown in fact Jamie, Eddie, and Beyonce made the most, and if fact there is someone who you all hate on here who would go in and make more money for a movie role than Jhud alot more in fact she is making much, much more even today.In fact this person has a work history and she has always gotten paid and her market value has increased and she is olaid back you owuld never know from her, she is laughing all the way to the bank.
The Oscar does not guarantee moe money hollywood is like any other job your experience is what gets the money, so this small role is good for her image but she is not yet making milllions per role.
You would be surprised at whatsomeof these sitcom stars make.
I am glad JHud won the Oscar, but their are many who never won and probably never will male and female who are making millions per movie.
THE OUTFIT IS FOR THE MOVIE, I AM QUITE SURE NOT HER PERSONAL CHOICE.
BY THE WAY INHOLLYWOOD SHE IS NOT THE GOD OR THE MOST ATRACTIVE AS YOU WORSHIPPERS HAVE MADE HER TO BE, THERE IS MUCH MORE GREAT AFRICAN AMERICAN FEMALE TALENT OUT THERE!!

Okay, I won’t argue with the numbers…I’ll take your word for it… And, since you work in the industry, you should know that the number of weeks an actor works on a movie is irrelevant… (Matthew Mcconaughey did “Frailty” in 2 weeks)

Winged Creatures is basically a series of vignettes, the entire cast creates one “message” or “star,” that’s how those movies work. To say that someone is more important in a film like that is to negate the entire premise… Her role will be as big as anybody else’s in that movie…
As for Dreamgirls, everybody’s salaries were cut…they talked about it time and time again AND if she got less it is because she “was” an unknown…you’re right…so what’s the point? She should have gotten less… And, now that she’s won the Oscar, she will get more (If they don’t get more, I wish Jamie Foxx would stop saying it…hint hint…they do…the Oscar curse you read about simply refers to them taking the wrong roles immediately after the Oscar win…)
And, I’ll end with this, you’re doing an awful lot of belittling… Even if everything you said is to be taken as correct (and I doubt it, personally) you still could not account for, in your belittling of Jennifer, the fact that she’s starring in a movie with two Oscar winners and that she’s earned a role in this movie (however small).
I’m happy for J. Hud…this is a good look…her movie career is so on point, in fact, it’s to be envied…seasoned actors would have loved to have been cast in this film.

You’re sooo right about other actresses wanting the role! That’s why I don’t know how this rumor about Beyonce getting the role and being ultimately turned away because she wanted to only wear House of Dereon came about… That’s the most ignorant rumor I’ve ever heard, especially since everyone knows the girl was obsessed with the show… She (and her DC drones) did an entire lame video parody of the show… Of course, she would have taken the role, she would have taken it and worn a human feces suit if they told her to!
