Alexis Phifer is not only arm candy. In fact, she proved this with the premiere of her Spring 2008 Ghita runway show last week.
Ghita was actually launched in 2005 but, Alexis certainly has been designing way before being with the Louis Vuitton Don. Graduating from FIDM (Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising) in California, Phifer clearly has always had her mind set on creating a high fashion line of her own.
Ghita, which refers to a gem or means “pearl of the sea” is a collection full of fun yet, fashionable party dresses. Alexis’s inspiration is said to be a futuristic touch to the 80′s and is very evident in her 2008 Spring line. Socialites such as Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton have already been seen in the threads, and we can probably expect to see more of it in the future…

I get the point you’re making about our celebrities of late (Nicole, Paris, Nikki)….none of these people have any talent, and they became famous only because people liked paying attention to Paris… So, you can’t deny that element of popularity… I agree. But in making that point, you also must acknowledge that the essence of that is us. People. What we want to see. So, you’ve got to suck it up (without name calling) and accept that people will want or not want to see uhhhh Kanye’s gi.. Alexis… (had to look up). If she’s mean to be a celebrity, the few hundred people that blog on this site, won’t stop her… But, as of now, some express dissenting opinions about even the notion of her as a celebrity… nothing you can do, such is capitalism, such is vanity, such is celebrity…

I understand all of that, but i posted that to say, let’s get real….obvsiously she deserves some spotlight, and she is relevant——-you just don’t like her…please be woman/ man enough to say that (no further explanation needed), and stop hiding behind bullshit like, why is she on here, or she’s not relevant…..it’s just hating in it’s finest. And i say that with all the curse words i want to use. And obviously people want to see her, because there may be a few disparaging comments about her on here, everyone else seems to be giving this young entrepreneur her props to say the least. And i, of all people, aren’t discouraging anyone for making a statement, just please, can we keep it real.
I still think you’ve got the wrong idea about this, JSCENE. I read your comments, I’ve noticed and I appreciate them. But you’ve got to understand celebrities are commodities… I use this analogy all the time… well, people can either buy them or leave them on the shelf… You don’t call people who opt for mayo instead of mustard, haters? It’s the same thing… She is like a new commodity, something new on the shelf, and to make her situation worst, she’s already associated with another commodity, KANYE. And, that could go either way, either they’d leave her because they dig him and think she’s being a sycophant or they’d leave her because they can’t stand him and so she’s, by association, annoying…
Ultimately, the nature of celebrity is being wanted…and maybe you want her and others don’t… I don’t think you should even go so deep as attempting people’s intentions …. That’s just my thing… I am one of those people who is tired of seeing Kanye here, I’m not hating, I’m just saying…if I’m coming here for gossip about black celebs and I’m running against a constant flux of Kanye-isms, I’m like??? what’s the point. And, it’s bad all the way around, featuring him so much…one would think it strokes his ego…it might, until the site is so associated with Kanye that everyone views it/knows it as a Kanye site, and then, what’s left for him to admire??? He likes being admired in the sea of other celebs, like he’s better…take them away, and what have you got? One like any other the other innumerable fan sites on the net…
See, I can articulate my feeling, my having enough of Kanye… Maybe others can articulate their feeling, their having enough of Alexis, but they’d rather not…

I don’t remember right now what i said in response to your post yesterday, but i know the server was having problems, so i just logged out. But i hear your points.
I saw her show on Tv.. something on this new york channel that shows all the fashion shows well clips during fashion week.. the dresses looked the same to me nothing new .. and the models taking pics at the end of the catwalk was not a good look. The models wearing her garmets uptop looked better then the ones in the show.

I’m so proud to see a strong black woman accomplishing smething in her life. I’m a bit disappointed that people thinks she is a golddigger. From what I see she wentto school and worked hard to get where she is. Personally I think her becoming associated with Kanye is bad for her, she could have done better probably but it could be because I think his music is not my cup of tea and his lifestyle is not appealing to me, but that’s the spotlight, he’s probably a very nice and caring man. I do wish them the best. I LOVE HER CLOTHES It’s nice to see dresses with flare and the intricate design is very appealing to the eye and such detail WoW. From one black woman to another YOU GO GIRL!!!!!!!
