‘BACKSTORY’ FROM HER SISTER LEHIA ACOX: Nailah (Nigh-eel-luh) Oliani (Oh-lee-ahni) Franklin, 28, has been missing from her University Village (near south side of Chicago) condo and from her job as a pharmaceutical sales representative for Eli Lilly since Tuesday evening, Sept. 18, 2007.
She has not been heard from since Tuesday afternoon/evening, missed an important “ride-around” meeting with her sales manager on Wednesday, and has not responded to numerous attempts to contact her via phone, email, text message and visits to her condo. Her company car, a BLACK 2005 Chevy Impala is missing [ CAR WAS FOUND ], as are her personal and work laptop computers.
Nailah is a graduate of 1997 Homewood-Flossmoor High School and a 2001 graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She is a successful professional, home owner, doting aunt, loving daughter, sister, cousin, niece and friend and would NOT just up and disappear on her own, or go without contacting anyone for days. it’s foul play….atleast that’s my gut feeling, expecially having lived in Chi-town for 25 years. I was almost kidnapped at gunpoint but the Lord sent me help. Hallelujah!

I hope they find her alive and well, a boy here in DC was missing 4 a week and he was found alive and well his car flipover and was down in a ditch for 7days.

Black missing persons do not get much attention in the media and our searches end days sometime weeks before the ” other race’s search does… I just jope they find her alive.. It reminds me of that poor girl in virgina i think who was taken for a week , tortured, raped, humiliated and then was able to still survive. If someone is putting this poor girl through torture I hope she finds GODS STRENGTH and ends up alive

I Hope that she is found alive and safe. This is the first i have heard of this story, my prayers go out to the family. It just really bothers me that if she was a white woman this story would be all over every news channel 24 hours a day. Where is the media coverage on this? Instead i guess we will just have to see and hear how much weight Britney has gained and contemplate whether or not she’s on drugs. Or maybe a play-by-play on O.J since he was released from Jail. ( they actually had a heli-copter following the car he was riding in when released from jail on bail on his way to the airport) Come on people!!!!!!!

Thank you for publishing this. This story has been bothering me since I saw it on the news Friday morning and pray that she as safe, as well as for her family and friends. She is such a beautiful girl and has so much going on for her, this story was such an eye opener for me since I live in Chicago. Her car has been found and it does not look good as far as the outcome, I pray that she is safe.

Really 18? Omg! I know about dem if i cant have u no one can types and i dont play. Last year my friends ex broke into the house and killed her and her mother stabbed dem 2 death. All u can do in these situations is pray and know dat God is in control.

@ Z.DAVI the Investigators have locked her acct, but they did say that 2 of her computers were stolen & that the last login date should have been 9/20.

Alot of women are missing today. Its a sick world we live in. Thank You CL for reporting the info we need 2 know. It is extremely dangerous for a woman these days, black women especially bc we lack the worldwide media attention given to women who go missing. Its sad and unfortunate that we have to come to an online blog to find out one of our own is in trouble. God please be with Naila Franklin and Stepha Henry(missing from Miami) and Monica Renee(missing from Buckhead in Atlanta, Ga).

This is so sad that one of our upstanding citizens has to be given media attention in this light. She is so beautiful and successful, why is that a crime. I pray dearly for her and her family. I know she will be found alive against all odds. Come Home Nailah!!!

This is why I love your website C.L. You all cover global issues that need recognition immediately. We must never give up in Niahlia. Keep praying. Remember it was a 60 year old something women thaty could not find in the woods or something. The police was looking for her for two weeks. The family planned for a memorial too. I think a couple days before her memorial she pops up. She survived. This is what I seen on CNN. I want everybody to pray in massives for the victim and her family.
Why havent we heard anything about the man that was harassing her? I have not seen any news coverage on police questioning

Ive been a reader of CL for quite sometime, but I never comment. I COMMEND you for putting this story up and posting .. I sent it to several other “gossip” sites and they havent done anything. I went to high school with Nailah and lots of people remember her from U of I. To those who are knocking the media outlets, EVERY news station has been playing this story incuding CNN, MSNBC, all the local CHicago stations, MySpace and I even saw it on the main page of AOL. I cant imagine what the family is going thru … I pray that she isn’t suffering!
She went to my high school…I didn’t go to school with her but my sister did. They are really trying to get the word out about this….I got a mass e-mail about it on the 21st with all of her information

I pray for this lady….. You know, I wish the feds could get involved when a woman has to file a restrainer order. I know our jails would be full, but it should be an automatic arrest until a judge and psych evaluators know that this person is safe to be on the streets. Too many women with restaining orders have lost their lives to men who they were involved with.
