Mary J. Blige is back with a snippet from her new album, tentatively titled Growing Pains. The song, “Just Fine” finds Mary in a good place again, which I’m glad about. There’s no word on who the producer is, but I like the production of the song. I’m surprised that Mary didn’t hit us with another B. Cox joint, considering that he knocked out so many great songs for her on The Breakthrough.
There is a rumor going around that there will be a Mary J. Blige vs. Mariah Carey showdown, because both of their albums might be releasing on the same date. Didn’t we just get done with 50 and Kanye? We’ll see how this one goes when Mariah’s single leaks.

I personally think Mary looks great, and natural. Makeup can be worn a little or a lot.
That is what makeup is for. It is made for women to wear, now you can wear it in a natural way like Mary, or however you choose. I notice it is always the ugly women who need to wear some talking about not wearing it and going natural when they need all the help they can get.

Mary has been selling consistently for over 15 years. Even her weakest effort, Love & Life sold over a million albums. Mariah has HAD a meltdown in album sales ever since “Glitter.” She just recently got back on track with “The Emancipation” which I can admit was an excellent album. But to be honest, Mariah’s voice is not the same. Her image is not the same, It went from classy to slutty. Her sound is not the same, it was from Pop To Hip Hop.
Mary’s voice has improved drastically from what it used to be. “The Breakthrough” was an example of that. Although “The Breakthrough” wasn’t Mary’s best effort, It definitely proved to the haters that she has improved vocally.
And one of the previous posters did make a valid point. Only true legends call on Mary to collaborate with. Sting, Bono, Aretha, Prince, Chaka Khan, Elton, Stevie Wonder, Patti Labelle, Whitney Houston, and the list goes on and on. She’s Highly respected by the Greatest Singers Of All Time. Not only that, but Hip Hop embraces her just as much. She’s respected by the best rappers of our Generation; Biggie, The Game, 50Cent, Kanye West, Missy, Nas, Dr. Dre, Lil Kim, Jay Z, Busta Rhymes etc. and at the same time all the Female artists out now are trying to copy her style; Keyshia Cole, Ashanti, Shareefa etc. Who else is respected by the Legends as well as in the streets? Can You Say the same for Mariah?
I’ll give credit where credit is due, Mariah is on top of her game too. Honestly, Mary & Mariah are the only two females artists who came out in the early 90′s to still be around today selling platinum records. So both of the women have to be respected!
But if they had to be compared, I would have to go with Mary. Mariah may have been labeled “The Voice”, but they don’t call Mary “The Queen” for nothing. And thats just the way it is.

As for Mary, I respect her immensely, and though I relate very little because I’ve not had the same struggles in my life, believe her… that’s saying a lot, belief in a celebrity. Mary’s real at every turn, even when she’s trying to be more “refined,” she’s still real, she means it only as a more tactful and subdued version of herself. Love her and I think she will grow and do far greater things than music…
