Jordin Sparks – Tattoo
Not sure about production credits, but it definitely sounds like Stargate production (written by Ne-Yo) a la Beyonce’s “Irreplaceable” and Rihanna’s “Good Girl Gone Bad.” I think your American Idol, Jordin Sparks gave it a good shot, but the lyrics to the song are just very corny to me. The song needs a little less campy-ness, and a better concept. Her voice sounds great though, I can definitely see why she was America’s favorite.
For those who don’t know, Ms. Jordin Sparks won the last season of American Idol. Of course, Simon criticized her for being “too cute” and many Idol fans speculated that Jordin was “slightly overweight,” she definitely won the States over with that voice of hers. As you know, as the winner of Idol, you recieve a recording contract. Past Idols have definitely made a transition into semi-reality TV show artist, to serious, successful and respected artists. Do you think Jordin has what it takes with this new single, “Tattoo?” Even though it’s a little corny, is it hot or not?
Yeah the beat is the same as “irreplaceable” . I don’t like her voice it sounds like country music . hated it !

Seriously though, Melinda or Lakisha should have won American Idol this year. This girl has talent, but doesn’t have the sass of either Melinda or Lakisha. She’s prone to going into bland pop-rock.

I am going to bo with NOT! I mean it is something I see on that Kids Bop CD. She can definitely sing, but I am not feeling this song. If you listen to the instrumentals, it sounds like “irreplaceable” mixed with a slowed down “umbrella”. I was hoping her first song would something more than this, I was wrong.
To be honest, I am glad she won; however I think she would be better suited on Nickelodeon.

Sounds like a corny song off of Highschool Musical Soundtrack or something…it will probably do well for the Disney Channel.

Definitely a country feel….Some reason I like it…maybe cause I’m feeling the words…then again it was written by Neyo and he’s great with words….Her voice sounds great too. I can see a lot of people gettin into this song…Not the hip hop or r&b audience, but the pop and country singers would and that’s how Carrie got famous so good luck Jordin.

Never judge an Idol winner by their first single. ALL OF THEM have sucked. It’s like their contractually obligated to release elevator music as the first single. The album in general should give you a taste of where she’s going.
Then again, I personally think that the first album for the all the Idol’s isn’t that good either. Kelly Clarkson’s first album was TERRIBLE because of all that Idol mess she had to sing, but look at how she blew up with her second album? Ruben’s album was nothing but a bunch of Karaoke covers as well. Actually, the only Idol first album I heard and liked was Fantasia’s, and that’s because they got real producers and put actual music on the album, and not just covers of the songs she sang on the show.
Jordin Sparks has an amazing voice (it’s a shame she didn’t when in an earlier season when the show was more popular). If she can’t make it past the first album she should be ok. But NEVER expect the first single to be good. ever.
Her song is a little “sweet” and the music is empty, but her voice is great.

Why did she end up with Jive instead of Arista? Did they merge? Am I missing something? And, her voice sounds country because she got the most praise on the show when she was singing country. I wasn’t a fan of hers, either…I wanted Malinda to win, I had visions of her frontingh a rock band…like Tina Turner meets Evanescence…wouldn’t that have been neat??? You all know that Jordan’s music will be more pop rock than r&b so she will probably do well with people that are into that type of music. This song will not be played on hot 97 that’s for sure! I think her voice sounds effortlessly beautiful though. I personally am not feeling it.

Sade has a song from about 10 years ago called “Like A Tattoo” and I like that much better than this. She needs to get it together
