JA RULE INTERVIEW W/ COMPLEX CATCHING HEAT

Ja Rule recently sat down with Complex for an exclusive interview on his new album, 50 Cent, politics, and more. He is currently catching heat for what he said about homosexuality in the media.

The rapper mentions the Jena 6 controversy and claims his kids can’t even watch T.V. in the afternoon because MTV is promoting homosexuality. Peep the snippets.

On Congress & homosexuality:

“…They got my man Doug Morris under fire and shit, they got him going down to go speak to Congress about hip-hop lyrics, are you fucking serious? There’s a fucking black kid right now about to get 25 years for having a fight with some white kids over hanging the nooses over the white tree, lets get to that. Let’s get into shit like that, because that’s what’s tearing up America, not me calling a woman a bitch or a hoe on my rap songs. And if it is, then we need to go step to Paramount, and fucking MGM, and all of these other motherfuckers that’s making all of these movies and we need to go step to MTV and Viacom, and lets talk about all these fucking shows that they have on MTV that is promoting homosexuality, that my kids can’t watch this shit. Dating shows that’s showing two guys or two girls in mid afternoon. Let’s talk about shit like that! If that’s not fucking up America, I don’t know what is.” [SOURCE]

Dang MTV is on everyone’s shit list right now. No word on when his new album, The Mirror is hitting stores. Another snippet from the interview is after the cut.

on 50 Cent:

“That’s the difference people don’t understand. Everyone talks about the beef I had with 50; he has beef with all types of rappers, but I’m the only rapper who went and handled my business and went and hollered at him man to man… And the moment I heard he had a record about me, I knew where he resided, I knew where he hung out, I went and seen and him. “Homie, you have a problem with me? What’s happening? You ain’t got to rhyme about it, I’m right here in front of your face.” So that’s how our situation took place, and I handled my business with 50 and 50 knows that. That’s why I’m such a threat to him, that’s why he doesn’t like me so much.”

  1. Damn Ja Rule, let it ALL out!…lol

But he does have a point

  2. DARKANDSEXY

Its the first time I can agree with him FIRST

  3. Princess_D

I do agree with him on the MTV thing, I thought I was the only one, lol….

  4. eBOCKA

on that 2bd comment, he knows 50 handled him and that’s why his career is over, HE IS NOT ON THE SAME PEDESTAL AS 50

  5. Dae

I hope him mentioning 50 isn’t his way of promoting his new album. N E Who, He’s right about MTV and people needing to support and actually do something about the Jena 6 situation. I hope he’s doing something, like myself (I’ll actually be down there on the 20th).

  6. kingkoofoosuckmybiggalohaha

ahhhhhhhh who givez a flying duck sauce fuck!!!!! hip hop is dead REST IN PEACE HIP HOP 1970-2004……R.I.P. HIP HOP U WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED IN OUR HEARTS AND SOULS AND YOUR MURDERES WILL BE BROUGHT 2 JUSTICE……

  7. MAN 4GET 50… COME ON, I THINK WE’RE ALL IN AGREEMENT THAT THAT’S HOW HIS CAREER GOT DAMAGED…

BUT I DO AGREE WHOLEHEARTEDLY ABOUT BOTH THE MTV THING AS WELL AS THE JENA 6 SITUATION. PROBABLY THE SMARTEST THING I EVER HEARD HIM SAY.

  8. Leslie

Damn the mtv thing is slighty homophobic. I mean to each its own. Get tivo, censor tv-14 television, make the kids watch disney or nickeloden

  9. as if ja rule needed to lose anymore fans he`s gonna say some fuck`d up shit like that about gays. one thing i will say is that most of the people behind the celebrity blog coverage- both hip-hop & beyond; are nine times out of ten gay.

& i bet money alot of them ain`t gonna take kindly to those remarks.
Ja should take a long look in “the mirror” before releasing an album because doing so will only result in “murrrrrdduuuuuhhh” of his career. his comments made in the complex interview have sealed the deal on his reputation with me & to top it off it
ain`t like he`s a true mc anyways. go cop the new kanye & let this one “rule ” himself out.

    thas how i feel.

  10. Oh please!

Why are his kids watching MTV in the afternoon anyway? Shouldn’t they be watching Nickelodeon or the Disney Channel? I don’t see why he’s complaining. Maybe he should be more concerned about the negative message rap videos are sending instead of some MTV dating show his kids have no business watching in the first place.

  11. I agree with most of Ja’s words. Its true tho, MTV be showing that NEXT show with homosexuals all tongue-kissing at 3pm!! Its ridiculous! They need to go back to showing videos. Why doesn’t congress talk to the head honchos of these entertainment outlets, let them sweat it out a bit. They’re just hitting up the artists who at times are just a reflection of society….

  12. MS. Rochelle

Amen to the Jena 6. Let’s really bring that to the forefront .Oprah did a show with the Rutgers Women’s B-ball team about the Don Imus situation, I hope she does a show about this blatant injustice on these young men and the black people in general down there.
Back on topic…Ja Rule they do have parental controls for tv, but I agree rappers are not the only individuals who can be held responsible for the negative images that are affecting our culture. Yet and still, don’t act like you labeling women as hoes and b*tches in your music, don’t influence the ways that children, teenagers and some adults act and react to one another.
As far as 50 goes-boo to the both of you. You are 2 grown a** men acting like kids beefing over some nonsense.SMH I don’t feel like commenting anymore on this immature mess

  13. 4Real

He chooses to talk about homosexuality when there are millions of other points he could’ve made? Being gay should be the LEAST of anyone’s worries, its not like we’re commiting a crime, were just simply wanting to be with someone just like any straight person. If anything, I applaud MTV for willing to put it out there, show people that its REAL, its not a choice we make but something that we have to deal with. Its raising more awareness of the whole thing. Sorry Ja, but you lose respect from me, BIG time.. NEXT!

  14. @#6, i thought hip hop died in 2002? lol

  15. T

..oddly enough I have a new found respect for Ja Rule. His comments about MTV had quite a bit of truth in it…Although, I don’t agree with calling women out of their names it is def true that not only do the rappers do it but so do the movies so if we are going to get the rappers let’s tackle everyone. Of course they would never think of attacking MGM etc cause that’s where the big bucks are! Interesting to hear him say he can’t let his children watch MTV. Good to hear that he is teaching morals in his house. Interesting.

  16. and what are his kids doing watching mtv anyways? if you don’t like what’s on tv, change the channel or even better, turn it off….jeez.

  17. T

I don’t think Ja Rule was knocking alternative life styles. I think he was saying that he doesn’t agree with it being on tv at 3 in the afternoon. I agree with him. Yes, homosexuality is real. Yes, it should be addressed…but should it be at 3 in the afternoon? As strange as it might sound coming from an openly gay woman, but I wouldn’t want my children watching homosexuals kissing or hetrosexuals kissing on the first date etc. I really don’t want them watching homosexuals kissing because I don’t want them to get confused. I was born this way and I don’t want my children to get confused by seeing a woman kissing a woman…granted I don’t have kids but if I did I wouldn’t want them to get too confused at an early age.

  18. CLEARMINDED

Stick a fork in him. He’s DONE.

  19. gg boo

No you cannot watch MTV. Now go tell your mom to get her bytch ass in here.

    Ya’ll get my point here I hope….

  20. TAISH4U

I’m with Ja 100% on da Jena 6 thing and the MTV thing

But I am against him 100% on the fiddy thing, he need to stop trying to start some
drama with fiddy he already ended your career.

That is why he is trying to make a come back now.

Ja a little advice u can’t fuck with fiddy on his worst day!

  21. noloudnoises2helpu!!!!!!

HEY JA FIDDY FUCKED U UP SHUT UP FIDDY BEAT UR ASS!!!!! AND EVEN NELLY WHOOPED UR AZZ IN QUEENS IN 1989 AND JERMAINE DUPRI WHOOPED UR AZZ HERE IN ATLANTA U WANNA TALK SHI ABOUT CURTIS????? THE # 1 SELLING ALBUM NOW AT 6 MILLION COPIES????? AND UR ALBUM AINT EVEN OUT YET CMON GET RICH 20 MILLION COPIES THE MASSACRE 15 MILLION AND CURTIS 6 MILLION AND KANYE 310,000 FAGGOT

  22. Matthew Milam

Actually, you should allow your kids to watch gays kiss. That way they’ll be better able to deal with it when they see it for the first time in real life. Keeping your kids in the dark may keep them safe, but they won’t be able to relate to anything happening in the real world.

  23. bebekid

    curtis 6 million?????? lmfao!!!!!!!

  24. tell it like it is JA…that’s right! tackle everyone about these influences on children/teenagers..he has a point..

  25. GOD is good!

I AGREE WITH JA RULE ON THE HOMOSEXUALITY STUFF. HOMOSEXUALITY SHOULD NOT BE PROMOTED LIKE THAT MAN! HELL NO! THAT STUFF IS REAL TALK MEN. PROMOTING HOMOSEXUALITY AINT RIGHT MAN!!!! AND IM SAYING THIS WITH ANGER IN MY HEART.

  26. HaitianBoss

Ja is right this faggot shit getting outta hand, these white channels are letting people to believe its cool to be a homo.rappers talk about btiches and ho’s cuz that”s what they see. bitches and hos are the same women that were all over Ja when he was ”that” nigga , now since 50 is there on his back. BITCHES AIN’T SHIT BUT HOES TRICKS

  27. So i guess Ja never wonders why the term bitches and hos got such a big stamp of approval from his industry.

  28. beyonce fan

i agree 100 percent with him

  29. Taylor Catrice

I have to agree wtih Ja Rule on the points he made. There are plenty of other things in the world to worry about instead of rap music. He didn’t have to do all that cursing, but he was probably angry, but nonetheless, imo, he made some good points.

  30. Bittersweets

Don’t understand Ja anyhow. Why so selective, sounds like a scared ass negro. How about other negative influences on children: violence on TV , Rap lyrics etc, etc.

  31. Sizzle

He makes a legitimate point, but could he have cursed less and made the same points?

  32. MTV is garabage they play no damn music, just a bunch of over sexed reality shows.
Has MTV even did coverage on the Jena 6? Hmmmm….
I feel that 50 defintely put an end to Ja Rule’s hit making career…smh.

  33. BRWNCRAYOLA

I remeber seeing that homosexual show on MTV and just being like WOW! Ja’s has a point. BUT you don’t have to drop so many “F” bombs to get it across.

  34. Tammy

Homosexuals are always offended when ppl say something about thier lifestyle. I don’t care who gets upset, it’s not normal and it shouldn’t be on television EVER! Ja has a point on that .

  35. Greatestloveofall

Ja Fool can’t talk shit about gays, cause I thought he was a closet case homo at one point–but then he disappeared off the face of the earth. Look at him–the dude is about 4 FOOT 9 INCHES and he talkin all this shit to sound hard. I hate 50 Cent, but at least he’s more real than this rat lookin muthafucka.

Also, he’s talking about two DIFFERENT, UNRELATED THINGS HERE:

“There’s a fucking black kid right now about to get 25 years for having a fight with some white kids over hanging the nooses over the white tree, lets get to that. Let’s get into shit like that, because that’s what’s tearing up America, not me calling a woman a bitch or a hoe on my rap songs.”

    Two things:

    1. I’ll give him props to mention the Jena 6 case, cause that is FUCKED UP AND RACIST.

    2. WHAT THE FUCK DOES CALLING A WOMAN A BITCH OR A HOE HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE JENA 6??!! THEY ARE TWO FUCKING DIFFERENT THINGS. NEITHER OF THEM ARE RELATED IN ANY FUCKING WAY–THEY ARE TWO MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE ISSUES. THIS NIGGA NEEDS TO GET SOME LOGIC. JENA 6 IS A FUCKED UP SITUATION AND RACISM BY THE AUTHORITIES. BUT WHAT RAPPERS SAY ABOUT WOMEN AND THE WAY THEY DEGRADE THEM IS JUST AS DISGUSTING, CAUSE U GOT A GENERATION OF YOUNG BLACK YOUTHS WHO WILL THINK THAT SHIT IS COOL!

  36. Greatestloveofall

As for MTV–ALL dating shows need to be scrapped–cause they all TRASH SHIT. Whether it’s promoting gay, straight, lesbian, bi relationships, that shit ALL needs to be cancelled. MTV used to be hot, but in the last 5 years they play NO music anymore, and have replaced it with mindless gameshows, reality TV and stupid documentaries about spoilt lil bitches whining about they bday party when they should try to get a good education.

  37. boombox

i knew i could go to a place where people agree with his comments, just as i do.
dlisted.com had a fit lol. but he was completely taken out of context.

  38. boombox

agree 38. they need to drop all that mess.
and if not, maybe bring back some of the earlier dating shows that were entertaining. like Singled Out. or maybe it was just cus i was 13.

  39. Landon

NOT SAYING THAT I AGREE WITH MTV, BUT DAMN IN ORDER FOR THEM TO PROSPER AND STAY A SUCCESSFUL FUNCTIONING NETWORKTHEY HAVE TO REACH TYPES OF PEOPLE IN AMERICA AND THAT INCLUDEDS GAYS AND LESBIANS. IF THEY DIDN’T THEN THEY WOULD BE GETTING HEAT OVER THE FACT THAT THEY ARE NOT ENTERTAINING THAT COMMUNITY..DAMN THEY CAN’T WIN. ALL PARENTS HAVE TO DO IS PICK UP THA DAMN PHONE AND CALL THE CABLE COMPANY AND BLOCK THE CHANNELS THAT THEY DON’T WANT THERE KIDS TO SEE.

AND THERE IS A WHOLE CHANNEL LOGO (263 DIRECT TV) THAT CATERS TO THE WHOLE GAY AND LESBIAN COMMUNITY!!! I LOVED NOAH’S ARC (WHEN IS WAS ON)

  40. Hate MTV–and most TV these days anyways. While we had overblown, crazy relationships only on soaps, now we see them everywhere. Those “dating” shows and Real World, Laguna Beach, The Hills, etc aren’t promoting HEALTHY,MATURE romantic relationships. EVERYTHING is about meaningless sex–something that not only children need to not see, but teenagers and adults as well. Y’all wonder why relationships are so screwed up these days? And why kids are learning way too much of the wrong thing at too young an age? You can say parents control the TV all you want, but in this internet age a kid can get their hands on anything they like–I don’t even watch Flavor of Love or whatever but I can go on YouTube and find videos of that ridiculous show quite easily. Or even just the MTV website.

  41. Quiche-A

    @Tammy…Amen sis, amen!

  42. whatdahell

Ja is so ignorant and it shows in the way he speaks and his actions. His career is in the dumps not only because 50 replaced him but also because of the drug traffice problems with his management. Not to mention everyone over at his label sleeping around with each other. All of them are HAMs!!!!!!!

  43. Hip Hop is my baby mama

You pretty much have to monitor what your kids watch, and I certainly wouldn’t let my child watch certain shows.

50 vs Ja – I think it’s time to move on from that.. It’s old news

  44. MaddHaitian

#9 ur wrong!! all ja was saying is that all all these sexual overtones are broadcasted on the television. he is doing exactly what should do. if u don’t want to watch something turn if off. how is he wrong for that. I do the same thing if there something on I don’t want to watch I turn it off too.
I’m also glad he commented on the jena 6 ordeal. u have rappers from the region and area that saying squat. look at lil wayne,bg,big tymerz, juvenile and a host of other rappers from there and they aint saying shit. because these artists can support there kind from the same place I can’t support these rappers anymore. these rappers have died along with the bling era for me.

  45. I’m so tired of this 50 cent and Jarule beef…Jarule is played out! simple as that the only time I hear about him is when someone is questioning him about 50 get over it already that was so 2 or 3 years ago….NEXTTTTTT

  46. The Ja, really made some sense. I agree with him totally. MTV does have some crazy shows on during the day. Especially around the time kids are home from school watching the shows.

As for 50.. Let it die already. There are bigger issues in the world to beef about: poverty, the homeless, racial discrimination, and the list continues….. I am not going to purchase anything because of a beef. If I like your work, I buy simple as that. All that beefing is just stupid and adds to the stereotype of AAs.

  47. ms_mac

@ #20, Completey!! lol. Of course I’m sure if asked he’d probably say he never curses in front of his kids or lets them listen to his music though. smh @ the stupidity of it all.

I wonder if he would have felt the same way about MTV when he was at the height of his career and his videos (IT’S MURRRRDDDDAH) stayed in heavy rotation? I’m not in agreement with MTV’s practices but I don’t think Ja can serve as a moral compass either.

True, there are bigger fish to fry out there in the world but celebrities are too quick say take the spotlight off of everything I’ve done because someone else is doing worse. No, let’s not take the spotlight off you. Let’s get on your ass too. Let’s address it all. Let’s address inappropriate lyrics from rappers that claim they’re just tellling the story of their lives; let’s address the blantant disrespect of kids by parents who say “do as I say, not as I do” yet punish their children for not understanding the difference; let’s address the overly sexualized images and content that both rappers and top execs create and condone, let’s address it all.

I hear what you’re saying Ja but you’re the last person I would take seriously. Live it, speak it. What you talking about right now is like Puffy going off about the importance of birth control and abstinence.

  48. liz

How is Ja Rule going to relate being disgusted by gays kissing to protecting the innocence of his kids, when HIS KIDS probably can’t even listen to HIS SONGS! Step up and be accountability. Your lyrics disrespect black women – not unlike the same black women you married and its damaging to black kids – the same black kids you purportedly are tryiing to protect. Stop being homophobic and stop being misogynistic. Forget MGM and MTV, do your part JA Rule!

  49. GOD is good!

    I feel you #50.

  50. bambam

The whole “gay” issue is fucking tired and lame. People act like it’s the biggest damn threat to all of society. Yawn.

Politicians use it when it’s time to vote to get your attention and divert your attention from the real issues.

Washed up has-been rappers use it to get the blogs all hot.

The real issues are that there’s a g_ddamn WAR going on and three soldiers who wrote an op-ed in the NYT about their REAL experiences in Iraq were recently killed (one critically injured) . Coincidence? The Jena Six. And yes, Jah, violence in RAP, you ignorant fuck. What the HELL are you kids doing watching MTV at ANY time of the day? MTV’s programming is questionable 24/7.

You heard this one before – THEY SHOULD READ A G_DDAMN BOOK!

And I’m another one who doesn’t care much for 50, but if this little punk-ass has any ballz, he’d pick up where he left off with 50 instead of picking fights with “sissies” like the little candyass he is.

  51. bambam

I didn’t mean to refer to Ja as JAH. Hope nobody was offended.

  52. KI KI

I AGREE WITH HIM ON THE M.T. V. COMMENT THO I HOPE HE CALM DOWN WITH THE CUSS WORDS.

HE NEEDS TO JUST DO HIM AND NOT WORRY ABOUT 50 !

YOU CAN COME BACK JA I WAS A FAN I ENJOYED THE STUFF YOU DID SO LETS GET IT DONE BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  53. # 9 u must be gay. So what if half the people behind the scenes are gay. All of u will burn in hell 2gether eventually. People promote being gay a little 2 much and that’s why u have lil 9,10,11, 12 year old kids who really don’t know any better running around here calling themselves gay and repeating shyt that have seen on t.v.. Lord have mercy on their souls.

Ja Rule might be played out but it still remains to me that 50 cent is a bitch. The only thing he do is talk shyt through his rap music. Be a fuckin man and handle ur shyt Man 2 Man and stop hiding behind his fuckin lyrics and having people think that he’s such a fuckin beast. 1 quarter 2 dimes and a nickle need 2 sit his bitch azz down.

  54. bambam

    @ 38 GREATESTLOVEOFALL

    CO-SIGN.

  55. reecy

What a hypocrite. So he worried about MTV showing gays and HIS kids can’t watch, but he got half naked women and calling them hoes in his videos and could care less about other folks kids. Now you know how other folks feel…

  56. Sherm

Yeah, the MTV thing is something I’ve been ranting about for a while now. It really is out of control & their should be something done about it….not sure what….

  57. shawn

Yall are disgusting.. all this shit in the world and your worried about 2 men or women kissing on MTV.. As far as kids watching MTV, it’s mostly teenagers, they should know about gay men and women already.. Those same kids can turn to nbc, abc and cbs during the same time frame and see a couple fucking on tv damn near naked..

All it takes is one person to make a stupid ass comment and you will have a shit load of ignorant asses that follow..
