JENA 6 UPDATE: BELL GETS NO BAIL / 2 ARRESTED IN NOOSE INCIDENT / FBI Probes Anti-Jena 6 Web Page

Sorry for the delay on this update!!! Here is the newest info about the Jena 6.

After thousands rallied yesterday in Jena, Louisiana in the defense of the Jena 6, many hoped that the hearing for Mychal Bell today would result in him being released on bail. But that was not the case.

Mychal Bell, the sole defendant who remains behind bars from the group of teens known as the “Jena 6,” will not be released Friday, a court decided.

Bell, 17, has been in jail since his arrest more than nine months ago.

It was not immediately clear what happened in court Friday, where Bell’s attorneys had planned to push for his release.

“It is our understanding that the judge refused to give bond or bail to Mychal Bell today,” the Rev. Al Sharpton, a civil rights activist who traveled to Jena for Thursday’s rally, said in a written statement. [ READ MORE ]

Don’t let this dishearten you. Did you see all the support the Jena 6 received yesterday? This is not over.

Noose hanging from truck.

An adult and a minor were arrested in Alexandria, Louisiana after police saw two nooses hanging from a red pickup truck.

Petty Officer 2nd class Casanova Love of the U.S. Navy was the person who sent a photo to CNN’s I-Report. Love was in town from his station in Hawaii to visit family. He and some friends were standing outside a club when the truck drove by and passed a large group of Jena 6 protesters. That is when the police pulled them over.

When asked why he sent the photo in he responded to CNN with, “People need to see this. It’s 2007, and we still have fools acting like it’s 1960.”\

What kills me though is that Jay-Z, Kanye, 50, Jermaine Dupri, Diddy, etc etc all have $90,000 laying around somewhere and this baby is still in jail. You wanna parade around for perfume album sales and what-have-you but can’t lift

On the real fuck America, seriously, I’m in Canada, n proud cuz we don’t got it that bad, people aren’t stubborn or ignorant in the U.S.. And if you don’t agree with me you got some problems, lets put it this way. The USA which we all consider the leader of this world besides China, has loads of $$$, they spend Billions on a phony war, when they could be helping everyone across the world fight poverty and contribute to peace. Thats what we need to do, now this kid is arrested and from what I know hes not guilty! but he still didn’t get bail how sad is that. Tells you that even now in the U.S. ppl still got it bad its like you guys living in the past, here shit theres literally a huge difference between the Canadian Ghetto n the U.S. we got way better, and we aren’t that rich, we got good medical only due to taxes.. And if your thinkin oh they doing it to stop the terrorists?? MY ASS, U.S. alone have killed over 100,000 Iraqi’s many of them civilans, the soldiers have raped the women, (WAR CRIME).. you know why Saddam Hussain was hanged?? for (WAR CRIMES) now W. fucking Bush is doing the same and everyone is so ignorant they could only care about whats going on to the U.S. ..get over yourself America

Okay I’m still not understanding why he can’t get bail. Okay Remy is out on bail and she is accused of attempted murder and beating up and threatening a witness. She shot someone, he beat up a guy with a shoe, no deadly weapon involved, but he can’t get bail. This just a example to Al and all the other protestors that they still can do what they want. For those who don’t think it racism, this should wake you up.

what goes around comes around, those judges will get what they deserve.

Then again, only God knows the full story and peoples’ intentions. Whoever is in the wrong will be duly punished in one way or another.

That town hasn’t seen the end of it.

I have prayed and continue to pray not only for those boys, but for this racist country as well. What happened to the white guy that pulled the gun on the black kid in the store ? did he get arrested? This ish is ridiculous!!!

Friday, September 21, 2007 /

Something good will come out of this later on… I’m not letting it get me down cause these boys don’t deserve this punishment at all. Maybe something less harsh but gosh… Oh well we just gotta keep fighting for them. I’m sure i’d want someone doing the same thing for me if I were locked up on some crazy B.S. like this… Sigh. Keep the faith!!!

I saw this on CNN. They showed his mom, who my heart really breaks for right now. She could barely walk to her car from crying so bad. And to THat_Dude, “rocking all that black” was not for nothing. We didn’t back down during the bus boycott nor when it came to getting our rights to vote, etc…this just eans the fight is just beginning.

I cosign with you MS.T. I wish there is a way we can run this city into the ground. Since it is a small town I am sure alot of people own there own businesses- which means- they have to get their loans from somewhere. If black people had the power to buy or merge with the bank they get their money from - that minority owner would make them pay a higher premium/ payments. I would force them to close- leaving them with no income. Or if there are large plants in that town shut that down and cut off all resources. This would stiffle them economically. Somethings got to be done!!!

Blatent racism. I guess I would rather know who the fools are than not. This situation is going to show the true colors of a lot of people. We all should be angry. It is discontent that start revolutions. And show the others that we will not just sit on our hands while you rape us or our children.

My energy and prayers are focused on Bell and the Six as a whole.

OK FAM PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE DON’T GET DISCOURAGED. THE RALLY WAS JUST THE BEGINNING!!! THEY NEEDED TO SEE THAT WE AS A PEOPLE CAN STAND TOGETHER NONVOLIENT AND STAY FOCUSED ON THE MATTER AT HAND!!!!

THIS MOVEMENT IS A JOURNEY…NOT A SPRINT!!! WE MUST STAY FOCUSED AND CONTINUE TO FIGHT DILLIGENTLY AND UNITED!!!

AND DIDN’T GO DOWN THIS TIME BUT WE WILL BE BACK AND AS WELL THE STATE CAPITAL!!!

CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT WASN’T JUST ONE EVENT, BUT A SERIES OF EVENTS FOR A GREATER CAUSE. WEARING BLACK MADE A DIFFERENCE, COMING TOGETHER MADE A DIFFERENCE, CONCRETE LOOP AND ALL THE OTHER BLOGGER MADE A DIFFERENCE….WE AS A PEOPLE ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE

What this and the others suffering in Jena need, is our prayers and our constant support. Did any of you really think this would end that soon? These are the same people who have slave owner running through their veins and have been sitting and waiting for a day like this. If you’re full of rage right now wait for the days to come. Can we keep the dream alive? Seriously, ask yourself. It’s time to MAN UP people.

I hate telling other people what to do with their money because it’s their money and they can do what they want with it But shouldn’t these rappers and other black entertainers feel obligated to do what they can in a case where Blacks are still recieving unequal treatment in the year 2007. Or maybe many Black celebrities have not informed on this issue. It’s really unfortunate.

That’s expected. The powers that be had to show black people that they would not allow blacks to affect how they interpret their own laws. It was necessary for the government to show white America that they will not be intimidated in any way by blacks.

When i heard about this story..
I was sooo shocked..
Couldnt believe situations like these still happens..
I still cant believe it..
This story doen’nt even get any coverage over here in Britain..
Its really sad..
I dont understand why such blatant racism still exists..
Is the condition of the world ever going to get better?..
Because it seems to get worse and worse as time goes on..
And most of this celebrities dont care..
Want nothin to do with it..
They more likely thinking it could “tarnish” their image..
Imagine if 1 of the Jena 6 was my brother..
I wish there was something I could do to help..
Wdf is George Bush doing??..
Kanye is right “George Bush dont like black people”

IT ALL STARTS WITH PARENTING I believe racism starts at home I grew up in a small white town alot of the kids my age were racist because thats how their parents taught them to be the funny thing is is that none of these kids were ever around people other than whites to see how other people are so they never had their own opinions just their parents!! Thank God I moved outta that town my parents got divorced I moved in with my dad best move I ever made!

Instead of people saying the country is racist or whatever why dont people start donating or something to help the family. I live all da way In London U.K so i can not really be as much help apart from wear my black in support. People should come together and support this young man that is being destroyed and humiliated by the justice system and the govenment. Were is George Bush in all this sitting down somewere laughing. We are giving the white people of Jena what they want by not donating money to help the child. When they have the money they will have to let him go because there will be no more excuses. So i say that everyone should donate something even if its 1 doller if 90,000 people donate 1 doller there will be enough lets help the family. And lets not forget to pray for the family through this troubled time

#9 Sequita you are so right..I think we need to call out hip hop moguls who made the damn FORBES list to do something.. I mean damn…. they got 90,0000 deposited off of interest alone and this prescious little boy is still in jail. Even if he gets penalized for the fight, can his family at least have some time with him so he can get his mind straight.. I am literally getting goose bumbs by reading this sick mess.

I have a daughter and I really hate that she has to grow up in this world. This is why I am trying so hard to make it at my PR stuff because just in case something like this happens to my baby. I can have it covered. At least the financial part of it anyway.

I want to apologize to anyone that I am about to offend.. This is exactly why I would never lie with a white man just for this reason. That was purely a hate crime but they saw it as a “joke” now one white boy gets his ass whooped and 6 black men have a criminal record behind that. Bush is spending billions on war and can’t even get the shit in America straight. My heart goes out to those families and I pray that justice is served, whether it is now or 10 years from now.
Like Kanye said “even if you pushing a benz you still a nigga in a coupe”. White America will never see us as equal because they fear what they don’t understand. And anyone that thinks racism is gone is living a lie, just because you married to one or have kids by one doesn’t mean that somewhere in that family they are not calling you a nigga behind closed doors. All these black men get rich and switch, won’t be me. Any one of those boys could have been a relative of any of us. If the table was turned would 6 white boys be doing time if they beat a black boy.. HELL NO!! It happened a few times and those fucking crackers are walking the streets while a few of us are dead or were left mentally and physically challenged.

Ok, I am a bit confused…couldn’t Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton assist the family in helpng to post bond. Are there any bail/bond companies in a Parrish or a city close by. This is ridiculous, simply ridiculous. He is has been in jail since Dec. of 2006. I have heard people say “well he had a criminal background.” The fact that he had a criminal background truly hasn’t helped his situation, but it shouldn’t keep him in jail and for 90% of that time in an adult jail. He even turned 17 while in jail.

74.

Daphne

Friday, September 21, 2007 /

Obviously this incident is indicative of the bias and racism in America. If you know anything about our Constitution you would know how serious this situation truly is. First, of all the charges against Mychal Bell have already been dropped! Bell has continually been denied bail even after the states appeal court dismissed the charges filed against him. The district attorney has said that even though the charges have been dropped, he still has two weeks to file more charges against Bell! Bell’s defense is in the process of filing a writ of Habeas corpus…because the jail system has no legal right to hold this young man after charges have been dismissed. This is unlawful imprisonment. Jena, La’s has violated Bell’s Bill of Rights. So while people are marching and wearing black ensembles, the fact remains that even if this matter is resolved…we have not progressed all that much since slavery.
