Bell in football photo (CNN)
Sorry for the delay on this update!!! Here is the newest info about the Jena 6.
After thousands rallied yesterday in Jena, Louisiana in the defense of the Jena 6, many hoped that the hearing for Mychal Bell today would result in him being released on bail. But that was not the case.
Mychal Bell, the sole defendant who remains behind bars from the group of teens known as the “Jena 6,” will not be released Friday, a court decided.
Bell, 17, has been in jail since his arrest more than nine months ago.
It was not immediately clear what happened in court Friday, where Bell’s attorneys had planned to push for his release.
“It is our understanding that the judge refused to give bond or bail to Mychal Bell today,” the Rev. Al Sharpton, a civil rights activist who traveled to Jena for Thursday’s rally, said in a written statement. [ READ MORE ]
Don’t let this dishearten you. Did you see all the support the Jena 6 received yesterday? This is not over.

Noose hanging from truck.
An adult and a minor were arrested in Alexandria, Louisiana after police saw two nooses hanging from a red pickup truck.
Petty Officer 2nd class Casanova Love of the U.S. Navy was the person who sent a photo to CNN’s I-Report. Love was in town from his station in Hawaii to visit family. He and some friends were standing outside a club when the truck drove by and passed a large group of Jena 6 protesters. That is when the police pulled them over.
When asked why he sent the photo in he responded to CNN with, “People need to see this. It’s 2007, and we still have fools acting like it’s 1960.”\

When will Black/African-American people step up to the plate? The crime was done, and now we want to pull the race card. Come on! Wake up! We will never “overcome” if we keep acting the way we do. MX, Dr. King, R.Parks and many more would be ashamed. I know I am.
Found this info on overthow.com a white supremacy site (under blog). These people what to hurt the families of the Jena 6. I pray nothing happen to any of them.

The fact Bell is still in jail and he has no way of posting bond shows me just how unprepared black america is for anything negative to come its way. We can protest but we can’t come together and raise money? We fight so damn hard to be in white neighborhoods, white corporations, white schools, and even white stores but we don’t have any black businesses where we can depend on our own. Does anyone else see how fucked up we are? We can keep marching and shouting, but just who are we doing it for and why? This is not the 60′s. This is 2008. A new damn year, and yet we keep using the same tactics to fight racism that rosa and mlk did. Are we crazy? There are people out there wanting to kill us, wanting to take our lively hood and this is how we fight back? No we aren’t prepared. We aren’t even prepared mentally so how the hell are we going to fight back? Amazing.
I have signed the damn petitions, and I even wore black but then I asked myself is this really going to make a difference? I had hopes that it would, but then I realized that we have been doing the same shit for years and nothing has changed. You want to know how I really felt? I kind of felt stupid, because the end result is Bell is still in jail and the other boys’ lives are screwed until they are six feet under. I get annoyed when I see black folks fighting so hard to gain a piece of whatever others have instead of working together to do for themselves. We are so much more than marching, begging, and whining. We are leaders. We are strong. We are intelligent. We could have all came together and bailed Bell out, and flipped the justice system the bird while doing so. We can be self-sufficient where we don’t have to depend on anyone but ourselves. If you think for a damn minute that mlk solely wanted blacks to hold hands with whites and sing sweet loves songs while pining for integration you were sadly mistaken. Yes he hoped for a day where all people could be judged solely on the basis of their character, but that day isn’t here. What a lot of people don’t know is that he also wanted black people to be knowledgable about investing their money, building up their communities, ya know doing for themselves so when they are shunned out of certain places they still have their areas to go home to. Looking up to only what made king half the man he was is setting us up for failure. King was a smart and compassionate man full of fire. He wanted better not only for all people but for black people especially. We have got to do better. Bell and others like him are depending on us to do better. We have just have to you all.
