The rally on behalf of the Jena 6 will take place this Thursday, September 20, 2007 in Jena, LA. Those who cannot attend are being asked to wear black to show support. Those of you who are going should wear black as well.

As far as Mr Judah. Whatever sir, you have your view points I have mine, you will believe how you want to believe. If you think everyone is against black people then that’s your perogative and my comments isn’t for you. Just glance over them like they don’t exist don’t put weight on them, you know I’m a non-black. I’m not going to discuss on this post about whether of not non-blacks and blacks should work together, I know most of everyone’s view points on that from previous posts so there’s no need to go into it on this one. If you wanna support Jena then support it if you don’t then don’t, if I want to support the cause of Jena then that’s my choice. You can view my choice as lightly as you want, it doesn’t nothing to me.

On to today …. So I have to say that I am VERY disappointed in the number of people I see wearing black today. I live in one of the Blackest counties in America (PG) and work in one of the Blackest cities in America (DC) and I think maybe 10% of the people I saw during my commute this AM were in black. It’s very sad because it makes me wonder if people even knew what was going on. Then on the other hand I wonder if they knew and just didn’t care.
I get that there will be a certain percentage that can’t go there (uniformed workers and students, etc) but this is sort of sad. I guess the up side to it is that the ones like myself that were in Black actually looked at each other and it was a sort of silent solidarity. It really touched me that there are still a few of us that give two damns and recognize that even something as simplistic as wearing the same color on the same day makes a huge statement for these little boys. Big ups to those who take a stand.

Why is OJ simpson getting more press about an ALLEGED kidnapping and robbery instead of masses of people coming out to support the jena 6 in a rally today. I was upset this morning watching the local news because only ONE local station showed anything on this rally. FOX news nothing, ABC nothing, CBS nothing, ESPN nothing, ALL entertainment news NOTHING. NBC was the only local channel showing SOMETHING on the jena 6, and al sharptons big ole face was on the screen. Somebody tell me this who exactly do we have to get to show up to get press on this issue. This is ridiculous! Judah was right in alot of aspects of how this is even being displayed. And half these artists that are supposed to bring awareness need to come out and show a little more support. Had they been throwing a high profile party in a club in Jena with all the coke, weed, ex, groupies and dranks needed they would come out in the flocks …. even if for nothing more than a photo Op.
I’m disgusted that this is not getting more press.
Also where are all the presidential candidates that want to win the minority vote. Tavis Smiley set up a forum for a debate in a black college for the republican party and they didn’t even show up. He was outraged? What I guess the minority vote doesn’t count anymore either?!?!?
How did we get to such a backward state as a people man? It makes you wonder.
Why we are boasting and riding the coattails on who will sell more albums 50 vs. Kanye instead of who really cares about the needs of the minority and are willing to speak up to get our votes in the presidential race? @ MS_MAC I have a friend in Louisiana & surprisingly where she works only about 20% of the people there are wearing black. So, I feel you on that.
@ Mrs. Dawson, CNN just have coverage of “THE SUPPOSED” Jena 6 & spoke with one person’s family & Tyler Perry. You could also see people marching in the background.
On the news in Louisiana today there were reports of white people in Jena driving around town with their Confederate flags waving & there were people in the streets bowing down to them. I just hope that this remains civil or we will NEVER hear the end of it.
yanno what’s funny. this is not a black against white thing and people would try to have us believe that. It’s a JUSTICE thing. Yes there was blatant racism thing going on but this is about FAIRNESS and justice. No child deserves what those boys have went through even before the arrest. To be taunted and teased having shotguns pulled out on them that’s just not right and the fact that that racist town is riding around waving confederate flags just shows their ignorance. I pray that nothing stupid breaks out as well.

ON ANOTHER NOTE…
TO add insult to injury the woman in West Virginia (rape & torture victim) had to appear in Court in 3 different counties facing bad check charges on Tuesday. Sure, she shouldn’t have written the bad checks, but their timing is strategic for a reason.
YES I TOTALLY AGREE WITH THAT!!!! What the hell does her checking writing have to do with her being totured, raped, eating out the toilet for a week???

@ Tmommie3, that is the funniest thing I’ve heard this morning. The people in my building in ATL were also looking at some of us like “why are they dressed in black”? LMAO…an uprising sounds about right, maybe that’s what we need to be heard.

I’m rockin my black. I must say i was a lil disappointed walkin on campus and seeinga lot of my fellow bretherns and sistas not wearing black. It’s pretty shockin how so many people arent aware of what today is and that history is being made!!
I’m in full support of the Jena 6, and I’m glad to see that we as a people are standing up. I am not wearing black but not for any other reason than I just didn’t want too. Many may feel I’m not about standing for a cause, I am, but i don’t need to wear black to prove that point. Many people who are wearing the black don’t even know the full story behind the Jena 6 injustice. So if you’re going to wear the black on this day make sure you know why, and not just because you got an email to do so. Also, let’s not forget we’re standing to get charges reduced, and not eliminated all together. We also need to be marching about getting charges against the white students also.
You know why the Jena 6 is getting no coverage? White people don’t respect the way black people carry themselves. Black people have become like children with the whites as the adults. When a child throws a tantrum, you either discipline the child or you ignore the child. This is nothing but a tantrum that negroes are throwing and that’s why they’re getting ignored. The caucasians know that if you leave black people alone long enough they’ll calm they asses down. They’ll never tell black people this; but whites feel like everything that they’ve ever gotten for themselves they took so they cannot understand how an entire race of people, like blacks, can go about begging another race of people for respect. It’s repetitive and obnoxious the way the same people get trotted out (Sharptongue and Jesse), the same tired signs and chants get created and performed, and the same marches get marched. If negroes throw their tantrum long enough and loud enough, the white man will give them a little bit of what black people think that they want just to get them to shut the hell up and go back to hating and destroying each other. It’s sad.
I am so glad our American people are coming together in a time of need. It’s a shame it had to be in this way. I hope a lot of people learn from what happened. I LOVE THE WAY EVERYONE HAS STEPPED OUT IN FAITH TO TRAVEL ALL THE WAY TO JENA IN SUPPORT OF THE 6 JENA BOYS WHO WAS ARRESTED AND CHARGED WITH MURDER. I JUST HOPE AFTER TODAY, NO ONE TURN THEIR BACK, BECAUSE JENA IS WHERE THESE PEOPLE LIVE EVERYDAY, AND WE DO NOT. I JUST HOPE SOMEONE WILL BE ABLE TO WATCH WHAT GOES ON IN THIS SMALL RACIAL TOWN FROM THIS DAY FORWARD.
