Ashanti – Hey Baby (After the Club)
After “Switch,” the “buzz single” Ashanti put out featuring her boyfriend Nelly was leaked, people in Ashanti’s camp saw it wasn’t as well received as they thought it would be. Even though the song had potential, they immediately withdrew and waited to leak the new sinlge, “Hey Baby (After the Club).” Ashanti’s new single is produced by Mario Winans and 7 Aurelius (who also produced and sang on the buzz single “My Number, Babe”). Although I’m a lot more pleased with this song because of the sampling, I am a little worried about how this will sound on radio. It’s not ground-breaking or so left-field that people can’t get into it, it’s just a little different than what we’re hearing right nw on the radio.
Ashanti’s new song is taken from her album, Declaration which is set to be released December 4. We’ll see what else Ashanti’s got in her bag of tricks. She’s still signed to The Inc., and she’s one of their most successful artists. So let’s not hope that after the whole airing out with Irv Gotti on Wendy Williams (find out more here) will put a damper on the release of this project.

I hate to say it but i haven’t heard it but i already know i wouldn’t like it. Not a fan of Ashanti…Only song i really like by her is “Foolish” and “Baby”. Now “Baby” was my song…. She’s a pretty girl but everything else about her has to go. I would elaborate but i won’t even go there….

She better be focused on some other ventures…open up a foundation like Trina to keep the IRS off your back for now. The fourth quarter is soon approaching and she definitely won’t hold up to Mary, Mariah, etc.

Okay, I don’t think the song is bad at all. The problem is that it is wayyyyyy to similar to the Diddy/Keisha Cole joint. I mean they are almost identical as far as the beats and singing. They are so similar, I’m surprised this song is even on her upcoming album.
Trust me if Beyonce B-Day slightly survived and u know it was horrible, Ashanti will manage to as well…

Just not feelin the production. Did Mario W. produce the Diddy/Keysh track as well. All too familiar. It took months for me to tolerate the Keysh track and I am not going to be able to listen to this one too!
I LOVE IT…I but i also liked Switch too.. I think it sounds like Diddy’s but there are alot of differences as well.
I always knew Ashanti was a terrible singer and performer. This song is not a hit, Ashanti voice is nothing great or hot about it, and I can’t believe people were comparing her to Aaliyah at one time. They were crazy and I still think Ashanti sucks and her album will do nothing. It’s crazy how some artist who have only been around for 5 or less years careers end so quickly.
