SNOOP AT THE KIDS CHOICE AWARDS LAST MONTH (GETTY IMAGES)
Remember when Snoop was caught with a collapsible baton while trying to get on a plane last year? Well he is getting community service for attempting to bring the listed ‘deadly weapon’ on the plane.
Snoop Dogg whose real name is Cordozar Calvin Broadus Jr has been sentenced to 160 hours of community service after admitting to having a collapsible baton in his hand luggage at John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana, California, in September 2006.
Snoop lawyer, Donald Etra said that the baton had been used by his client in a musical sketch. Mr. Etra had advised him to plead not guilty, but said his client wanted to resolve the issue.
Snoop Dogg, who was acquitted of murder in 1993, was arrested on two other occasions in 2006 for marijuana and gun possession.
He has since been denied entry to Australia and Britain and his punishment also included three years’ informal probation, whatever that means.
‘LET FREEDOM RING WEEKEND EVENT’
Nick Cannom, Jaggged Edge, Twista, Killer Mike and Sean Paul of YoungBloodz are among many hip-hop artists slated to perform at a benefit concert for the Jena 6 during the “Let Freedom Ring Weekend” in Birmingham, Alabama.
The “Let Freedom Ring Weekend” will be used as a platform to raise awareness and show support for the Jena 6 – six black students facing lengthy jail time for an attack on a white schoolmate in Louisiana.
The “Let Freedom Ring Weekend” will kick off on Friday (September 28) with a press conference at the Birmingham Civil Rights Museum at 1 p.m. and will be followed by a peace rally at Parker High School at 4 p.m.
LUDA USES THE N WORD @ MLK CONCERT

Ludacris used the “N” word in his raps during this week’s performance of the “Dream Concert” at New York’s Radio City Music Hall – despite the fact that the performance was held to support a Martin Luther King Jr. memorial in Washington, D.C. Critics of the performance say the rapper’s use of the derogatory racial term was disrespectful to King’s memory. Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys, Aretha Franklin and many others were on hand to support the effort to raise $1 million for a monument to place on Washington’s mall.
THE GAME GETS OFF

A New York judge has set rapper The Game free on a conditional release, after he was accused of impersonating a police officer. Police say The Game, whose real name is Jayceon Taylor, hailed a cab last November and told the driver to run multiple red lights because Taylor was an undercover cop.
Taylor’s lawyer argued that The Game has a noticeable tattoo on his face, and there’s no way the markings would let his client pass for a policeman. The Game says he told the cab driver, when asked about a car following them, that it was the “hip hop police,” and the cabbie ran the lights on his own. Taylor’s conditional release means the misdemeanor impersonation charge will be dismissed in six months, if The Game commits no other offenses.

@ 13 lmao about Nick. Luda wrong place &time. Jena 6 I would to more celebs involved as well that’s important case to get behind
IAMDARKAQUA is right, Chamillionaire released a curse-free album. No N word.
Angel please delete #57….i don’t know how i did that!!! Sorry
Luda had a coon moment. It happens.
Interesting to hear about the Benefit concert… hope all the money goes to the boys.
Luda used that word because he, like many other black people, see nothing wrong with it. That’s why he could use it at a event honoring the most respected and important Black American in our history. This just shows once again, how much we need to improve. I’m sure Dr. King as well as Malcolm X are so proud that they fought so hard to disconnect Black people from that word, to only have Black people themselves, use it and call each other the word with no regard like it is a badge of honor.
Using that word at a MLK event Luda? You could have shown a bit more restraint and respect.
Thank you IAMDARKAQUA & Chante’
With all due respect, Wouldn’t you say that this is a “problem” when you can only list 1 or 2 rappers that do NOT use the N word….
no offense to all the Hip Hop Fans out there, but this is a shame.
A promotor can’t even invite a Hip Hop artist to perform at a memorial concert (The King Benifit), because we don’t know what is liable to come out of their mouth
* I would be afraid to invite Kanye, cause he may throw a tantrum if you don’t present him with an award
smh
-Aint nothing new about snoop.
-Dang Luda you could have at least replaced the N word with brother. That was very inapporiate because MLK Jr fought for out rights and one those were to not be called the N word or boy. SMH Luda you know better. Eff everybody else but support your people’s dog.

Luda is a disgrace to Dr. King, black people and hip-hop. We need to boycott these childish, dysfunctional rappers and stop making excuses such as “coon moments”. Luda has had more than 2 or 3 public coon moments.
He is a 30 year old grown azz man that is responsible for his behavior. If we are not letting YT makes excuses for “moments or pranks”, then we certainly do not need to allow our people to continue to slide while they continue to embarass and berate us.
@70 Lola Falana… I concur

Luda you know better…
well ghetto is what ghettoism does….luda get it 2gthr.
i wish i had the time to attend the jena 6 event…it’s def a good cause!
I dont see the big deal about Luda. That’s is like me slipping out a curse word talking to my mother and it happend.Just a mistake I bet he won’t do it again.
Oh trust Kanye,Pharell,Mos and Talib be using the N word and they the most respected lyricist people in the industry. So really it’s double standard. When people who listen to these artist and praise them but they using a word they think is offensive which makes you a bigger hypo.
Big WTF@Luda..lol
The Game…what a dumb ass!! LOL
I would bet that the distinction between Luda’s comment’s being okay and not okay corresponds with age and maturity level. It is disheartening to see that some people do not revere Dr. Martin Luther King enough to refrain from derogatory language while honoring him. Ignorance will ruin black people.
And Ludacris is not fine. Please. If that man is fine then Remy Ma fine too. Cant let average dudes get fine points, let the average ladies get fine points to then.
Snoop Dogg is a disgrace. He dirtied the event by his presence.
I also would have like to see the A list conscious rappers in attendance, but I guess that couldn’t make it happen.

Suppose you were @ a Funeral, in a church, for a member of your family…..
Your cousin gets up to give a Eulogy, and he something to the effect of
“Damm..I sure am going to miss my Nigga”……..
How would you feel ???

BILL….I’M STARTING TO FALL IN LOVE WITH YOUR MIND! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m not being funny, but which genius booked Luda to perform at that event in the first place? I don’t see what else they expected, it’s not like they haven’t heard his music before.
IAMDARKAQUA, It’s all love, my sister.

Good question, but that was not the point I’m trying to make.I should been more through but what i mean is people say things that tend to slip out, it happens.NOBODY UP IN HERE IS NO SAINT, nobody is fooling me.Things happen.Life goes on.Nobody should be judging nobody. And I know you all done some shit and probably use “nigga” in the comfort of you own home.
How would I feel if that my cousin giving an eulogy at funeral?I don’t know because I don’t like funerals and if he did I’m pretty sure they say it in out some emotion at a time.People going to say what they want to say, I can’t tell them what to think speak or whatever. That’s them and it’s not my problem.
How come the more popular rappers arn’t stepping up and preforming? This is why I and others don’t buy rap cd’s the artist are full of…
@77 Bill
I was at a funeral for an old school mate (I had just graduated HS) and everybody who got up for their 2min expression let ” Damn” and “my nigga” slip out. I was so upset I felt like we are in the house of GOD! and don’t even get me started on those RIP shirts, people really forget where they are.
No excuse for Luda
Honey Love,
With all due respect, here’s another question
Let’s say you were in School, and your teacher/professor (who is Black) was teaching a class.
Someone in the class tells a Joke. Everyone laughs at the Joke.
Your Black Professor says out loud “You Nigga’s Are Crazy as hell”
How would you feel, since he just made that mistake, he’s a black man calling his own students nigga’s and it’s supposedly okay for blacks to use that word, and the word “nigga” is simply a word, right……
Right ?????
* I don’t know if you follow Basketball at all, But the President of the Knicks, Isaih Thomas is on trial now .
Thomas was asked if it’s true that a white male executive referred to Anucha Browne Sanders — a black female executive suing the Knicks because she claims she was fired for complaining about Thomas’ unwanted sexual advances and inappropriate comments toward her — as a “bitch.”
Thomas denied the incident, adding, “A white man calling a black woman a bitch … that is a problem for me.”
As a follow-up, Thomas was asked if he would be bothered if a black man used the same derogatory term — which is pertinent since Thomas and Knicks point guard Stephon Marbury both have been accused of calling Sanders the b-word. “Not as much,” replied Thomas, who has denied Sanders’ accusations. “I’m sorry to say. I do make a distinction.”
People make mistakes with words all the time, huh….
* My point is this (and I’ll leave it alone after this..I was simply debating with you) Words are very powerful (The power of life & death is in the tongue), and it’s simply not a good ideal to refer to our people as Nigga’s bitches, hoes, etc, etc….
Not trying to argue,
Simply trying to explain.
Peace
all of this madness will neva end!
im sure luda just slipped up. its a habit people and its hard to break a habit. like a said. im sure luda just slipped up

I dont see the big deal about Luda. That’s is like me slipping out a curse word talking to my mother and it happend.Just a mistake I bet he won’t do it again.
>>>>>>> Yeah but your mom would see the big deal about it because she’d WHOOP DAT BLACK BEHIND so you don’t do it again. The few times I cursed accidentally talking to my mom I got slapped. So it’s only fair that Luda gets his behind whooped because of this “mistake”. That’s an even bigger deal because not only is he a public figure, a father figure, but he, as a black man honoring a man who’s the reason for many of our rights, doesn’t even see the big deal about it. That’s what saddens me most. Would you see it as a big deal had it been Eminem using the N word accidentally in this concert? Eminem is known for calling his black friends his N*****, 50 cent even said it, just like Luda “accidentally” used the N word cause he’s used to call black people the N word. They both have that habit, what would happen if the white dude was “accidentally” exposed like Luda has been? If whites don’t get a pass, why do black people give excuses like “mistake”, “anger” or “poverty” for using racial slurs? Especially at such a concert for MLK? We have less and less credibility when we complain BECAUSE we allow disrespect from our own, we don’t see the big deal about it, others see how we treat each other and learn from it, then we wanna fight them but who did they partly learn that from?! I’m sure JLO would get NO PASS for using “SPIC” at a concert honoring some hispanic activist. I’m sure Fergie would get no pass using “CRACKA” in a concert honoring, say, Kennedy. Luda needs some TOUGH LOVE from us, and suffer from this bullcrap, that’s what he gets for using that horrible word so often, he needs to take a lesson from this “mistake”.
@Chanté… Well said ….
Very well said Chante.
luda is too used to saying it and forgot. too bad. he should’ve remembered
Its true..Rappers complain about injustices and the screwed up American system but when its time to take a stand they suddenly wetting they pants! Now is the time for all of them to be marchin with Mos Def and representin’. fightin for change…im boycottin these wack azz freedom fightin clones
LMAO @ the game, why?
Luda needs 2 be slapped. SHame. Can’t we move on from the self hate???
Kanye has that bad 2.
Snoop should have listened to his lawer. That should never had been a charge.
I kinda think Game is telling the truth.
k
@ Bill excelent point.
*^excellent*
I agree with some of you, he is a gangsta rapper, you should have gotten someone else to perform, He did his performance and it’s like asking the kkk to come speak at an all black function, u think they are gonna clean it up. (no)! People should think before they book these acts, so they correspond with the event. There are artist out there that have messages in their lyrics to coincide with the tribute. No blame on Luda to me, I am a 42 year old woman and I am not so much into rap, but I am educated, and the person to blame is not ludacris.
Luda….Why? You can’t perform at a MLK concert without using the word Nigga? Is it really that hard? SMH
luda your still the man in the game keep it up!
