I’m not worried about VH1. They’re known for jumping on trends and they’re too paid to care what a few upset Negroes think. This “transformation” from an all rock, pop, soft metal video station has slowly evolved into what it is because they saw a market. And it was only to appease Blacks who cried about inclusion. Guess now some got what they asked for. And it’s been in the making for a long time. Think about it. So once again Black people are upset about the way Black Women are being portrayed on tv so there’s another DUMBASS boycott going on. This time “we’re” supposed to be boycotting VH1 because they turned down a show that would feature professional Black women “looking beyond race” to find true love(which is kind of an ignorant premise anyway and wouldn’t really be compelling tv because it’s not the 50’s) because it wouldn’t bring in the kind of ratings/advertising dollars that their other “Black Woman” shows do. Now if you’ve been under a rock for the past two years I’ll tell you what those other shows are: Flavor of Love, I Love New York, and Charm School(which features the girls that were rejected by Flavor Flav on ‘Flavor of Love’. How they were able to create a show using girls that were rejected by Flavor Flav astounds me, seeing as how they should have all killed themselves. I mean, that’s gotta be the lowest point of your life! Anyway, the article I read(which you can find by searching google) states that a VH1 employee sent out a letter claiming that the network executives also denied the show because the viewers only like shows that feature “Black women acting ghetto”, so now Black people are calling for a boycott of the network for playing up stereotypes and “portraying Black women in a negative light”.

Now, my problem with the boycott and all the uproar is this: These shows that “we’re” so upset with aren’t sitcoms. They’re not playing a character that they auditioned for. THESE WOMEN ARE JUST BEING THEY’RE DUMBASS SELVES!!! You can’t blame the network. They’re job is to create ratings and money. They don’t MAKE people watch this crap. People WANT to see this crap so the network does it’s job and gives the people what they want! If you’re mad at someone then be mad at the people who are doing the cooning, NOT the people that show the hot ghetto messes to the masses that are willing to pay them for it! It’s not the network that portrays these women as slutty, ghetto, dimwitted buffoons…….it’s the actual women!! Why is our societies first instinct to blame everyone who watches the trainwreck instead of blaming the person that caused the trainwreck, metaphorically speaking of course. Look, it’s common sense people. As much as you may not want to face reality, the network execs were right, and although making a keen observation like that may have been a little racially insensitive(for people of color who still dream of a black Utopia filled with all the weed, Bob Marley Head/Lion Head t-shirts, and Mos Def cd’s you can fit inside a poetry slam) the truth is it wasn’t a racist statement. If it wasn’t for the ridiculousness of those women those of you that are reading this who actually watch these shows wouldn’t watch it, and as racist as you want to make it those shows have a larger Black following than white. Get over yourselves and get some common sense. Don’t boycott VH1, how about just boycotting dumbass shows whether black (Flavor of Love, I Love New York) or white(VH1’s Rock of Love and Scott Baio Is 45 and Single).

(ever wonder about those cameras and mikes that supposedly capture spontaneous and private moments or phone calls and whispers and such). sh*t is re-shot and redubbed in post production. “Producers” suggest ways to get more airtime and thus more fame to participants all the time.
