Cassie needs to come to the realization that she will never have another “Me & U”.

That song was her peak. The beat was simple and pop radio friendly yet it was also a club banger. Too bad her following live performances of the song made Britney’s VMA meltdown look like a master class in performing.

She also left everyone wanting to see more with the video. It’s common fact that we all somewhat co-sign a weak singer if they can dance their ass off (e.g. Ciara Harris). So when you can’t do both and all you wind up doing in your video is random Top Model Poses, display a pair of exclusive patent leather jump mans, splash water on yourself, and then put on an ill fitting dress to do a bizarre “key in the ignition” dance, you make people wonder what would happen if “Me & U” were given to an artist who would have turned the video and song out.

I personally liked the beat to Long Way 2 Go better, but after all the mess she made with fucking up on performing “Me & U” live, no one wanted to check for her anymore.

And I’m really sorry, but I don’t get all the Leona Lewis hype. To me she is an OK singer. She’s no Aguilera, Clarkson, and she damn sure aint the next Mariah. Rocking a curly “Vision of Love” hair do isn’t going to be enough for me to get fooled.

By the way I do give Cassie credit for always looking good. But she needs to prove herself. Bad Boy dropped the ball, after that “106 and Park” disaster of a performance, instead of hitting YouTube to look like her pimp and defending her in a video, he should have approached MTV to base a show around Cassie to prepare her for a 2nd chance.

Have her dance and practice. Show her working with Betty Wright and her drumsticks, and make her cry while singing “I Love You Forever” until she gave Diddy goosebumps.

If they did that sort of damage control, she would have gained a new following. And Diddy wouldn’t have looked foolish for defending Cassie yet throwing “Danity Kane” through the wringer.

Yeah I know SDotCarter, she really should have. Shit I would have. If music was something I was seriously considering as a full blown career, I would be at the gym, at the dance studio, and with a vocal coach before I even go into the studio to record. There is too much talent out there now (especially when it comes to dancing) that I wouldn’t feel comfortable coasting on my looks. Especially if I have to play catch up just to get to a level where most entertainers take years of practice to get to.

But with Cassie, music always seems like an afterthough with her. Like “Oh my boyfriend is a hot producer, so let me record a song cause I’m cute” type deal. She was rushed out there to capitalize on the underground hit that “Me & U’ was. So she had limited time to get everything right, and bullcrap like the “106 and Park” performance is what happens. Diddy needs to work harder on bulding his brand up again, rather than making 50 videos of a CD that did not sell the way he thought it was.

And with Cassie rather than fix issues, it seems she’s doing the same thing again. And is it me? But doesn’t she sound more and more Pop with the songs that are leaking of her 2nd CD? Not a good move.

Maybe people would feel a better connection with Leona if they actually saw “The X Factor” but it didn’t air here in the states. It’s a UK show. So you can’t really expect Americans to easily embrace someone as being the best thing since sliced bread, when most of us only have low quality YouTube clips to judge her voice on. I haven’t seen a live performance on my TV yet, and based on what I have seen online, I’m just not so enthused. But of course that could change.

I’m sure if she was on American Idol competing for the title for weeks and won the competition, we would all know and possibly appreciate her talent better.

The contestants are chosen by the judges and not the public, it was edited in Leona’s favour!
