THE NEW MUSIC REVIEW

Wednesday, September 26, 2007

Keyshia Cole - Truth (full) - listen
Here’s a track that’s unreleased from Keyshia’s Cole’s, Just Like You, released Tuesday. I actually kind of like the song, and I can see where it would fit in with the rest of the album, which is usually not the case with leftovers. I think that Keyshia’s voice sounds better than it ever has on Just Like You. I have a couple guesses as to who produced this track, but I’m not truth. Make sure you go out and cop the new album if you’re digging the new material from Miss Cole.

Jaheim - Never (full) - listen
I’ve never been a huge fan of Jaheim or his music for some reason. I think that since I’ve always been so attached to all of Tank’s album, including his latest one, Sex, Love & Pain, I just never got into Jaheim’s music, considering that I felt like his place was already taken. Also, after listening to this song, I have to admit that there’s no denying that Jaheim has a nice voice, but his material just sounds a little dated to me. I couldn’t see myself sitting around listening to this. But it looks like that means he has a new album in the works.

Fergie - Clumsy (full) - listen
I don’t see how Fergie has been putting out singles for so long! The Dutchess was released last year, but that’s sort of been the trend for the past couple of years. It seems that more currently, artists have been able to stretch their albums. Chris Brown did it with his first release, Justin Timberlake, Beyonce and others have managed to stretch their albums, and that’s a good look. “Clumsy” is the 5th single from Fergie’s album, produced by Will.I.Am. I’ve heard it on the radio a few times, so maybe there is a video in the works. I think this’ll probably be Fergie’s last single from the album.

Laurie Ann Gibson - Addictive (full) - listen
I find it hilarious that Laurie Ann Gibson has recorded a song. Over the summer, Angel posted a hot or not post with the snippet of this song, and now the full version has finally been released. I don’t know, I just don’t see it. Laurie Ann definitely is a great dancer, she’s proved that. But an artist? It just seems as though since the Making the Band 4 fiasco, she has been trying to keep her name afloat in the media. I think that Laurie Ann has made enough of a name for herself to continue to be a choreographer. I don’t think this is such a good idea.

Keyshia Cole is one of the CDs I bought yesterday along with Will I Am and some others. She really did some growing up with this album cause Ive never much liked her super ghetto flair. But as far as that single goes, it’s good, the album is good. One of the best female albums this year next to Kelly Rowland and Chrisette Michele.

Fergie’s whole album is great. Def the best mainstream pop album by a female released in a while. She is diverse as an artist and vocalist. “Clumsy” is prob my fave song off “The Duchess”. She could prob release every song on that cd as single-the tracks are that good.

fergie’s not a really talented chick so idk how she got this far. hell her songs are catchy. i was loving fergalicious. even my mom liked it lol. but live, she’s boring as hell. don’t like this song though. she always sounds like she’s trying to sing. it sounds nice and everything but i feel like she puts that tone on, like it’s not natural

i’m too tired to comment on the other bs. wait, keyshia sounds great

The average album has about 4 or 5 singles. Xtina’s Stripped had 5 and that was in 2002/2003. So it’s been going on for a while maybe some of you have just noticed. Keyshia had 4 singles from her first album.

Love the Keyshia Cole Joint…hmm that’s about all.

Wednesday, September 26, 2007 /

Jahiem sounds dated as hell. I would swear its 1999 again listening to his music.

Keyshia is a very lack luster singer who has the support of the people. No matter how famous she gets she still reminds me of your friends little sister who learned the words to a song and makes everybody in the house stop to listen to her sing and her mother says my baby is going to be a singer some day. She’s just very unpolished.

Fergie delivers exactley what is expected of her and thats why I like the song. I dont have any high expectations for her music.

And why is Laurie Ann trying to make a record, She must not be that succesful of a choreographer if she feels the need to put her self out there in soem way after leavign the show. further more why is she unabashedly bighting fergies style or well I should say Nelly ferta-…… or maybe Gwen Steph-……..well basically all of there styles. We dont need any more market saturation of that kind of stuff.

Laurie Ann needs to stay outta the booth. That song is CRAP. Wow it’s really annoying. Does this woman really think she is “Addictive” haha. please.

Fergie is played out. Her music is repetitive & the chick looks ten years older than she is.

Jaheim & Keyshia= LOVE.

Love Keyshia

Fergie was on a child show back in the day called Kids Incorporated she was on there for about 6 or 7 years and yes she COULD sing.Similar to the MMC.

Brian when was her album critically acclaimed though? Because I’ve read a lot of reviews and that isn’t what I call critically acclaimed.

Having 4 or 5 singles is nothing new Whitney use to have 4 or 5 singles so no it’s not a new trend at all.

41.

MIMI

Wednesday, September 26, 2007 /

Oh yea, I love Fergie new song, had a feeling she would bring this out. It would be really cool to see her and Gwen Stefani to do a song together.

Wednesday, September 26, 2007 /

oh man allot of you people are all wrong fergie is awesome with her voice its just that u have to hear the whole album not just her catchy bubble gum songs, which were all hits and people are to quick to judge thinking she cant sing but when she slows it down on the song like clumsy and big girls don’t cry u hear her true vocal range. this is why fergie is as hot as she is.

46.

Wow…..people can be really brutal.

KEYSHIA: Um….the song is cute. I haven’t sat through it. I was too busy listening to “Got To Get My Heart Back” and “Fallin Out” from her new album which is actually very good.

FERGIE: After she won Best New Artist at the VMAs, I said to myself, “There’s gonna be another video and single.” And I was right.

JAHIEM:…….

LAURIE ANN: ………x100. Get back to the BOOM BOOM KAT boo.

It seems like Laurie been studying Fergie….her song sounds like My Humps/Fergalicious/London Bridges on acid! Seeing that I am a dancer, I can see myself “movin” to this song…..I admit it! Laurie Ann needs to stick to dancing and choreographing because the recording artist thing isn’t for her. BOOM-KAT that!

I AGREE! JAHEIM IS WAY MORE AUTHENTIC THEN TANK.
BOTH ARE GREAT VOCALIST BUT TANK HAS MORE OF A ROBOTIC SOUND
WHERE JAHEIM SOUND IS MORE RAW, MORE PAIN, SOMETHING THATS VERY RARE NOW DAYS, AND VERY OVERLOOKED. K. COLES JOINT IS COOL
TOO! BUT THE REST, WHO CARES.

73.

Thursday, September 27, 2007 /

I’m loving Jaheim’s song, it’s dope. That’s some real R&B right there. His Teddy Pendergrass-sounding self can SING. I love his music. Looking forward to more music from him. I loved all his previous albums and the last one it debuted at #1 on the Billboard charts.

Although I’m not a fan, but the Keyshia song sounds good.

74.

Kiyaz

Thursday, September 27, 2007 /

Laurie Ann Gibson trust me I won’t come around cause I really really don’t like your sound. Its not addictive it’s annoying and a generic copy of someone else’s sound.

I love the Keyshia Cole song.

I also loved Fergie’s song a year ago, a video for it would have caught my attention then not now.

75.

Bfrank

Thursday, September 27, 2007 /

Everybody is talking down on Laurie Ann’s song, but I believe that ya’ll are just following what Brian thought about it.

Yes it kinda copies Fergie, but it’s not a bad song. Great dance track if you ask me. Come on people. You know Laurie ann is not about to be about the singing. It’s all about the performance, which we can all agree could possibly turn out to be very hott.
