  1. Does anybody realize how much she looks like Chrisette Michele? Esp with straight hair? Maybe it’s just me…

  2. Anon101

I love Jill Scott for her realness and sincerity, and i will definitely be coppin that cd in a few weeks, but i’m real too so i must be honest when i say i found it a bit hypocritical when Jill said she couldnt believe how people who didn’t even know her took the time out of their day to write a message about her, someone they didn’t even know. She even stated there were hundred and hundreds of messages, and she made sure to say that she read them all. Now how much time did she take out of her life to sit and read a bunch of messages about herself, coming from people as she say, don’t even know her. Whatever the time table was, i’m sure the writer took less time writing their individual message in their entire lifetime, than it took for her to read all them messages. It must have taken her hours. Now that i couldn’t believe, that you actually sat and read them all…dayum and wtf! I would have read some of them, laughed my ass off, and kept it moving. That would have been a little comedic relief for me….the fact that she’s taking the time to address it in an interview shows it touched her in some negative way…..i mean, saying “umma do me, so you do you” just exudes hurt feelings. I would have not given no damn air time for haters. That interview would have been all about me and what’s going on with me, unless the interview specifically asked me about hating, and even then would have quickly dismissed that bull, and brought the interview back around to myself.

So Jill, it does matter, cause if it didn’t no person would sit and read a bunch of crap about themselves for absolutely no reason at all. Alot people do hate, and to some people, you genuinely appear a certain way to them. And that’s just a hazard and con of being a celebrity…no two people will view or perceive you the same. So its not all hating…some people won’t like you, like your music, like your look, and don’t mind saying it, especially to a person who exude confidence. Please get use to this….

  5. I think I came across a site like that a few years ago where they hate on particular people. I think it’s hard when you know the type of person you are and for people that don’t know you to be making hurtful comments.

It’s also sad how people change over money. I suppose they think that because of her fame she should be giving money away and not expecting it back. But that shows how down to earth she is, she may have her celebrity status but she still has her values. Jill you said you know who you are as a person – so just keep being that person. Loads of people love you and your music and that’s all that matters at the end of the day. I am looking forward to your next album.

  6. Did anyone else notice how much in pain she seemed to be? I mean it’s normal for what she’s going through….it’ll get better every day…must be tough to lose a life partner, a soulmate. You could see and hear the pain coming from her, she is obviously still dealing with alot…it’s beautiful to see that she’s working through these life adjustments, and not allowing them to interfere with her daily life…i mean she could have easily gone into a deep depression and confined herself to her home….but nope, seems like she’s been working on her music and planning for the future. Yet another person i’ll add to my prayer list.

  7. Jill, everybody get hated on, especially in the industry she is in. It’s life. Move on.

I’ll pick up the album next week.

  8. #69 WTF????? even tho what you said is true, but fuck can you be nice! Jill have never done nothing to anyone but make music

  9. Wtf is correct? What are you talking about be nice? If what I said is the truth, what the hell are you talking about. Do you know how many nice people that mind their own business are talked about in a negative way for no reason? Plenty. It happens every day. In and out of the entertainment industry. This is something that we hear and experience on a regular basis, we should all be use to it now. The more you show people that you are affected by their negativity the more they will attack. Like I said, it’s life. Move on!

  10. I agree with whoever said she looks like she is in pain. Sister girl has gone through some things. I love her music and I’m glad she is using it as an outlet for her struggles. There are always people who can relate. I am surprised she found so many haters in one spot. Must have been a fluke cause she seems to have it together and voice is amazing.

Anyway, hang in there, Jill. Some folks are superhuman never get down, but most people understand where you are coming from.

  11. I bought Jill’s Last Album & ill DEF will be getting this one!

  12. Wow after watching the video I’m an even bigger fan of her music. I’m glad she is being brutally honest is what I love the most about her music. I did see pain in her face and I know how heartbreak can be so I’m glad she turning her disappointment into success. I’m her biggest fan and wish her much luck and CL continue to spotlight the artist that keep it real! I love this site!

  13. Jilly from Philly!!!! Great interview.

  14. @69 I think she knows that, she just talking about an experience if you saw the interview.Instead of talking about love, she was talking about another issue.

Jill is a favorite artist of mines.I will be getting this album.

  15. @ 65 I totally agree . I was thinking the same thing as I was listening to the interveiw. I think some Celebs need to accept the fact everyone will not like them .

I will be getting the new album !

  16. Jill look like she crying, or about to… in that still before you play the youtube video.

  17. I am a new fan of jill scott and I am kickin myself for not appreciating her more before now. It feels so good to listen to music that actually has a message. This booty-shaking, I’ll take yo man, super soaking stuff just ain’t music. (that’s right I said ain’t). I too sense hurt in Jill’s eyes but when you have gone thru what she is going thru u will hurt. Jill seems like the type of person that loves with every fiber of her being and it hurts like hell when that person can’t or won’t love u with the same level of intensity. ANYWAY>>>>>Ms. Scott, keep your head up, love will swing your way. take this time to rediscover u….not that there was anything wrong with u in the first place. My love and prayers go out to u. May your God grant u the peace and love you so truly deserve. BY THE WAY WHEN DOES THAT NEW ALBUM DROP!!????

  18. LuvlyEmpress

Now that was a great interview. I can’t wait for the cd to drop.

  19. I’m wondering too what site she’s talking about most people have nothing but love for Jill. I’ve bought all of our albums and will probably cop this one too. I like to support the music that needs to be heard. She does look a little pained, she doesn’t have the gleam in her eye that you usually see.

On the “unattractive” comment I think she means that there are *some men* who get jealous or afraid of a woman who is more sucessful or make more money than them or maybe is just trying to do something positive for themselves.

  20. Alia

Wow! What a great interview!!!!!! :)

  21. LuP

Loooooooove Jill Scott was here on South Africa recently holidaying with a brother from here!!!!!!!!!!!! All over the sunday papers saying that she’d found happiness with a cameraman from our country..! New labum is cool..Aren’t all her albums

p.s They like ‘em nice and meaty here, so Jill will fit right in!

  22. Bee Dub

So why did Jill Scott and Lyzell get divorced anyway? Anybody know and care to share? Thanks

  23. Jill doesn’t have a problem with not being loved by everyone, it’s the harsh bashing that hurt her because she didn’t expect so much “hate”, people disliking her is one thing, but HATING her? Talking trash about a divorce that is hard enough to deal with? Would you expect someone like Tamia or Raven to be “hated”? That’s what I think shocked her. She’s neither the first nor the last person to go through a divorce, but most people would catch feelings if they heard evil things about their failed marriage ex-husband/ex-wife/children, private life in general. She’s gonna move on. We can all talk about what we would do if we were in her shoes, but we don’t walk in her shoes. Celebs may have to have a thick skin, but they will forever be human and catch feelings especially while they’re emotionally fragile because of some painful sh*t they’re going through.

  24. Meoh

Keyshia Cole album of the year??? *I so feel that chile is overrated*lawd I done seen it all was Keyshia last album, album of the year?? I mean come on now!!, Keyshia and Jill aren’t even on the same level vocal wise Jill will sing circles round Keyshia anyday and that’s a fact, how did keyshia name even pop up on this thread??? I mean really??… ANYWHO I love me some Jill, just watching this clip showed this lady’s maturity and how her music has grown from Who is Jill Scott? I mean really we all go through some stuff in our life that we may wanna express and what perfect way for Ms. Scott to express it and that’s through her music, I’m so getting this album for sure, really digging that “My Love” track.

  25. TAmmy

Chante ,and that’s understood but don’t say in one breath you’re not bothered than tell us how you read over 100 comments of “hate” from ppl who don’t know you . Jill Scott isn’t special even though Im a fan of hers, but just like us regular ppl and many other Celebs , someone will always have something to say about you good or bad ,I think she needs to learn to deal with that. She gave the “haters” attention that alone let me know she’s bothered. I refuse to take up for her just because she’s Jill Scott , she was being a hypocrite with that statement. I still love her but i will speak on it .

  26. Tammy, I know that’s hypocritical of her to say she doesn’t mind the haters while giving them attention and writing a song about them. I was only talking about “how she felt”. Some people basically think that because she’s a celeb and should know being disliked is part of being a celebrity she shouldn’t have caught feelings. That’s why I stated, at the end of the day, she’s only human and has the right to be shocked. Ciara and Bee caught feelings in the past after reading things about them on the internet and chose to stop reading, but being hurt or shocked is just a human reaction. Maybe she should have handled the whole “hater” thing better, instead of reading it all and writing a song about them just ignore them, but all I was saying was, anyone could be hurt by “haters”, I just thought her being shocked wasn’t that shocking, cause who knows what she read.

  27. Jill Scott is MY WIFE! And that is really saying a lot. She IS Black American Woman and that is so sexy and desirable.

  28. ur1anonly

HATE ON ME HATERS BRANDYS ANTHEM ;LOL

  29. Shaft

i love her, so beautiful…ill appreciate you babygirl!

  30. I’m sure the album is banging.

I recently bought Sounds and Words Vol 2 and can’t get enough of it. That song Family Reunion kills me.

One of the Sunday newspapers reported that she has found love with a man here in South Africa. She was here on holiday on rendezvous with him last week. He is a cameraman and apparently they met when she was shooting a film here not so long ago. I would like to see how it will turn out. I wish them well in their relationship.

  31. I LOVE JILL SCOTT, SHE IS SUCH A SISTAH OF OUR TIME. HEAD ON RIGHT, STRONG REGAL, YET SENSITIVE AND VUNERABLE. I am not mad at that sistah.

the one has spoken, I cannot wait to cope that album. Lets make her number one that week.

  32. Girl Stop

I think some of you being a lil’ bias.If this was Beyonce’ talking about why people hate on her yall be on her pussy like it nothing…

  33. cash

Uhh, Jill, just to let you know, I will be a little late to work ont the 25th. My first stop will be to the store to get your cd! And I am not playing! All those haters out there need to get a life for real! How could anyone hate on you. You are such a beautiful person with a beautiful spirit. It so nice to see all the positive comments for you. So, here’s one more. LOVE YOU JILLY!!!

  34. REAL TALK, IF U HATE ON JILL SCOTT, THERE’S SOMETHING WRONG WITH UR IGNORANT PEA BRAIN.

SHE IS NOTHING SHORT OF AMAZING, GAINING ALL THOSE GRAMMY NOMINATIONS WITH HER FIRST ALBUM ALONE. AND EVERYONE KNOWS THAT ALBUM AND BEAUTIFULLY HUMAN ARE PURE CLASSICS. SHE WAS MAKING A BUZZ IN PHILLY BEFORE MAKING A BUZZ 2 THE REST OF US FOLKS. GET IT RIGHT!!

NOW I REALLY WANNA HUNT DOWN WUT WEBSITE SHE WAS ON WITH ALL THAT HATE SO I CAN SET THEM MUFUCKAZ STRAIGHT….. I WAS SO MAD WHEN SHE SAID THAT. CAN’T BELIEVE SOME PEOPLE.

……BUT THEN AGAIN, IT AIN’T EVEN WORTH IT. STUPID-ASSES.

  35. Kimberly M L

I thought Jill’s interview was great. I truely respect her has a black female artist and wish her the best. We need to stop as black people putting each other down. We have to lift each other up in every way.

    Jill,

I understand your pain, and I am proud of you as a woman and as a professional. Please don’t let anything stop you from getting to your goal in life.

Even though your new album may be for only adults, I think you speak about things that every woman has been through at one time or another. What you are saying is truely what all women are feeling and understanding when it comes to love, hurt, and pain. One thing is for sure. No one can take away the truth that a person feels within themselves.

  36. Dawn

Jill Scott is all that and a bag of chips. I love her, she is a true inspiration. She is someone I would love to meet in person.
