Great song, video’s a bit shit, but it’s the music that matters when you’re an MUSIC ARTIST right? (wrong these days) All y’all hatin’, just stfu. Mya has consistently released excellent quality albums. I really hope they give her a chance with the next one, I loved “Moodring” so don’t see why this one shouldn’t be as good or better.

My only qualm with the track is she’s been given too strong a vocal on certain parts of the song which need to be performed by someone with a better range. Who produced this? Sounds a bit like a B. Cox production.

Actually, the song is not that bad, it’s just her voice not suited for it. She’s might want to stick to other types of production, something that doesn’t force her to reach so hard. The only reason why Mya hasn’t blown up is the same reason why Monica’s last album flopped: their pretty-girl image does not go with the raunchy/hood-rat lyrics they sing. Gotta be blunt, but even though Mary J and Keyshia Cole are attractive, they look(ed) a bit rough, and that roughness and toughness goes with the type of songs they sing. To see a pretty girl who looks “nice” sing such hood-rat songs and present themselves in a hoochified manner (I got to drag her name in here, but at least Beyonce doesn’t have that “hoochie” atmosphere around her when she wears skimpy clothing–and neither does Ciara or Rihanna or the late Aaliyah) it repels people. Mya just seems too “loose” and the allegations from the G-Unit camp haven’t helped in the meanwhile.

Well, lol, Irene, Motown IS Mya’s new label.She was with Interscope for the longest time. And Lock U Down was produced by Scott Storch and featured Lil Wayne–proof that if you don’t have it, you don’t have it–or, that you don’t have a strong team around you. Biggest examples: Ciara, Janet Jackson, Beyonce, Aaliyah and Jennifer Lopez. All of those women (well…JJ when she was in her heyday) have a strong team of producers, songwriting collaborators, and management behind them, if not the full support of their record label. If your label doesn’t have your back, you’ll end up like Kelly Rowland instead of like Rihanna these days. Maybe Mya needs to hook up with Benny Medina–Tyra just split with him so maybe he has time for new clients.

Mya, in my opinion, is VERY UNAPPRECIATED. She surprisingly daring and versatile. Not the most powerful voice, but she is doing her VERY BEST to separate herself from the other R&B chicks. Listen to her 2003 album MOODRING. Damn, that ish was HOT AS HELL. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I heard that album. Mya, who a lot people thought was just another generic R&B female, proved a lot of people wrong with that album.

She also seems like a really dope chick, and comes off as very sweet and genuine about her singing career.

Hopefully this WILL get a release. She has been stuck in the same category as Amerie for too long now–two good female singers with long-delayed albums, who the public need to give a chance before making assertions about them.

It’s one of those songs where you don’t really like it but you know people who can relate and are going through things like this will love it.

I think that Mya is growing and it is definitely cool to see her come out with something to let us know she is still there, but, I think she should get a singing coach to improve her range a littlle and really challenge her creative thinking, get on an indie label and rock it out.

This song been on the radio station in Georgia for a while now and I’m feelin it. She should have been released this as a single. The video is cool though, I’m still a fan of Mya so I hope she can find a release date.

Mya sounds pretty good on this track. She’s been gone for awhile and I think this song could be the start of something, depending on what the rest of the cd sounds like. As for the track, “Ridin’”, sounds like a deep, dark, place alot of us women end up when we’re not careful. Why do we allow all of our leverage to be disseminated in a night? Do we not believe we’re worth a loyal and respectful relationship? Men know this ahead of time and they look for women willing to forgive their impulsivity and greed. We let them get that off! Holla!

I like Mya, always have. I think it’s a nice song and video, and she’s beautiful as usual. I just think the industry is very shallow, and they’re always looking for the new best thing, So, as an artist, you really only have a “short” time in the industry, unless you luck out like beyonce (who did a smart thing by the way by first starting with a group and then going solo). That’s why Mya, Brandy, Shanice, none of them are going to be able to make a real comeback. The days of having a 20 year singing career like Madonna and Whitney are over, because the industry is so saturated with artists.
