Am I and #72 the only people on this board that finds a problem with the way in which Kelly is using the term “Ghetto”. Also Ghetto is a noun not an adjective. When used as an adjective to describe a certain behavior or a person it is classist and most of the time borderline racist. Here is the definition by Webster-

“a quarter of a city in which members of a minority group live especially because of social, legal, or economic pressure”

So when she said “Ghetto ” was she referring to people who go to church on Sunday, sharing their last bit of sugar with their next door neighbor, working 2 jobs so their son can join the football team. Because you know all that stuff happens in the ghetto too. When you stereotype a whole group of people who may have the same socioeconomic factors in common but maybe not much else its not only unfair its classist. Are a lot of you guys referring to gun totting, drug selling, rim having, behavior. I hope not because I am sure you can see how that might be a bit unfair to a large portion of those who live in Ghetto’s. Imagine what type of stigma that puts on the younger generation who live in Ghetto’s. Words have power. Lets use that power wisely.
