WILL.I.AM’S “SONGS ABOUT GIRLS”

Wednesday, September 26, 2007

Will.I.Am - I Got It From My Mama

Tuesday, September 25th, Will.I.Am released his solo album since the disbandment of the Black Eyed Peas, Songs About Girls. Surprisingly, the only guest appearance of note on his album is Snoop Dogg, which I thought was pretty interesting. Much like Fergie’s debut album, The Dutchess (which was highly praised and is still putting out singles), I thought that Will.I.Am’s album would be almost a carbon copy of a Black Eyed Peas album.

Interestingly enough, Will.I.Am didn’t even feature his former bandmate on the album. I do like the energy of the album, however, even though I don’t think it’s represented well in the first single, “I Got It From My Mama.” The album is fun and funky, just like I expected, but we’ll see if Will.I.Am should just stick to production instead of trying to be an artist.

Are you referring to me? I simply stated I don’t understate the hoopla over him. How’s that hating?

I’m not too fussed over this tune. The only good thing is the chorus is catchy. To be honest I was expecting more from Will.iam as his first single, but lets hope the album sounds better. Anyway maybe thiswill be a big hit, catchy tunes usually are. Good luck to him tho

Woo hoo I still can’t believe I’m number 1…Um I’d like to thank all those who doubted me, thank you to my parents for conceiving me. To all my fans, of course the artists who have inspired me and continue to, and CL without this site I wouldn’t be first :) OK I’m done ;)

I thought the “I get it from my momma” song phase was over guess not! Never really cared much for the Black Eyed Peas, and Will.I.Am. solo isn’t doing it for me either!

I mean I “liked” I Got It From My Mama but The Donque Song is just dumb…I like him (Chrisette Michele’s “Be Ok”…Common’s “I Want You”) but it just feels like a drop…for real….I’m sure it’s a nice dance album though…..

Brian you’re stupid…how was Fergie’s garbage of an album “HIGHLY PRAISED”????

what do you mean? fergie’s album has been on the charts for a WHILE and she’s put out so many singles.

1) london bridge
2) fergalicious
3) glamorous
4) big girls don’t cry

and NOW she’s releasing “clumsy.” as a 5th single. most albums don’t stretch over the span on 2 years.

just because YOU all didn’t like, didn’t mean that it wasn’t praised by critics and people who listen to pop and top 40 music.

Sales doesn’t equal to highly praised from critics, she got mediocre to average reviews.

Amy Winehouse’s album was highly praised by critics not Fergie’s just correcting you that’s all.

Having 5 singles and hit songs doesn’t equate to higly praised by critics.

Exactly Brian..I have the album and dont care for it much but people really like Fuggies album….

She is annoying to me and when she entered the group I lost any love I had for BEP…they officially sold out adding her to the group…cant sing and her meth face is awful….

Hopefully Will I am can have the success she had…I like that their songs are playful and not always so sexual ..good for the kids!

LOL I I like Will.I.Am I think his music is fun and original, soul funky fresh & live….
To me he represents a different sound and flava to his music and since everyone has different taste when it comes to music I think its cool thats he’s representin his own unique sound instead of soundin like all the rest..who said it wasnt ok to stand out from the rest? ANywayz
Far as Fergie, thats my girl…I like her style as well..she flows from pop to r&b to mellow funk..I like artist that can be eclectic and versatile…
Brian hataz only hate what they dont understand….Most ppl unfortunately like to listen to the same sound….and I guess thats cool but dont knock the next because it doesnt fit into your “everyday music.”

No one is hating, but saying that it was highly praised by critics is not true. Most critics gave it mediocre to bad reviews. It is doing good as a cd yes, but highly praised uh no. I’m surprised Brian a music critic would even say that is was highly praised. No offense but it is kind of wierd.

Will.I. Am is not my style

#24 It is not just this site. Why does everyone equate everything to hating? Is that the only thing ya’ll know. Plenty of critics didn’t like it either.

Will is EXTREMELY talented, and he performs so well in concert. I wish that he wouldn’t stop appeasing the record company and do his thang. He’s a fucking sell out and it’s sad because he is cool ass hell.

I bought Will I Am along with a few other CDs yesterday when they came out. “I Got It From My Mama” is NOT a favorite of mine but the rest of the album is amazing. I love it, it’s funky, its different, it’s something I can dance to or just have a few people over for a get-together. So basically, I love it. I don’t know if he’ll be able to crossover as a solo artist because he’s such a good producer, seeing as how it happens to a lot of them like Johnta Austin. Anywho, I love the album, I’m gonna support him with this cause it’s great. Thank you.

Why is it such a big deal if it was highly praised or not? Maybe he used the wrong choice of words, but there’s no need to jump down his throat. Fergie’s album has had 3 number 1 singles. It’s still doing great on the charts. It’s a huge success. Supposedly “Clumsy” is her last single from the album. I was hoping “All That I Got” would be a single. I love that song.

But anyways, I love Will.I.Am’s album! “Over”, “One More Chance”, “Invisible”, “Heartbreaker”, “Get Your Money” and “S.O.S” are all REALLY good.

Yes, just because an album has a lot of top 10 singles doesn’t make it “highly praised.”
It just proves how dumb people’s taste in music has become. (Speaking about Fergie’s album of course)

The Will.i.am album is alright though.
