Miami Heat center Shaquille O’Neal wants to divorce Shaunie, his wife of nearly five years. ”The marriage between the parties is irretrievably broken,” says his petition, filed Tuesday by attorney Ira Elegant.
The O’Neals have four children together — Shareef, 7, Amirah, 5, Shaqir, 4, and Me’Arah, 1. Shaq has a daughter, Taahirah, and Shaunie has a son, Myles, from previous relationships.
Shaq, 35, and Shaunie, 32, wed Dec. 26, 2002, in a lavish ceremony at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Shaq, then with the Lakers, gave Shaunie a ring with 17 carats of diamonds.
The two have a ”Cohabitation/Prenuptial Agreement and Acknowledgment of Property Disclosure and Waiver of Further Disclosure,” the petition says. A copy of their agreement ”will be filed . . . under seal” — if the court allows — and “contains extensive provisions providing for confidentiality and non-disclosure.” [READ MORE]

We don’t know what Shaq and Shaunie were doing. Hell they could have been hitting Supahead together. Doing the Will and Jada. We don’t know. We do know that he was the primary breadwinner. In response to Dats post #238, I NEVER, EVER said that Shaunie stayed with Shaq because of love. You assumed that’s what I thought. SOME people who get married actually intend to honor the vows they said before God, and neither YOU or I know if that’s why she stayed. Or how about this one, maybe she stayed FOR THE KIDS? Frankly, I think it’s unfortunate YOU didn’t think of other, more positive reaosn why she might have stayed and I know for a fact that MANY people stay together for the kids. I personally don’t think she stayed for the money, because CLEARLY she knew that with 4 kids she’s be OK moneywise.

This begs the question, how can you justify such meaness and hatefullness toward the oirginal woman, the black woman?? Bro I expressed myself earlier on this post and too was labeled an “angry black male”. It is an out for most of the women who cannot change the thinking of a strong black man. I’ve visited this site for some time now and truthfully this was the ONLY time I had ever expressed an opinion about any subject, but soon as I did, out came the claws. It seems that when a man cheats on a woman he expects forgiveness esp if he has money.Alot of these wives stay with unfaithful men because of the money.Some decide its not enough and eventually leave the marriage to reclaim their self respect ,and some bide their time so that they can get the most out of the situation ,while planning to leave.

That’s the fastest way to turn us off — especailly when it isn’t warranted. So the fact that you’ve grouped all Black women on CL as “bitter fucks” does make you sound bitter yourself.

I don’t know much about their relationship or what is going on, so I will try not to speculate, but just say this. People look at Shaunie and say , wow, this woman had it all, a rich husband , whose famous and gave her anything she wanted. She looked so happy, what went wrong, and she didn’t appreciate him. Well, many women are or were married to men and the world see their lives as grand. But, it’s not real. When women are married to men that are the sole providers, they are inevitably trapped in a situation that is to hard to explain. Although, men give their wives material things, noone knows what that woman has to go through , to get those things. Noone knows what Shaunie was going through in the relationship, so why speculate. And say she was wrong, we don’t even know the facts, just Shaq’s side of the story, actually his reasons for filing a divorce. Shaunie probably only wanted to buy things, or wanted a new house and that infuriated Shaq, and he pulled something drastic, only to show Shaunie who was the dominant or controller of their relationship. He obviously, couldn’t handled the fact that she was making financial decisions on her own, and had business savvy, he forgot that women are more than bed warmers and mothers. If anything he should applaud her Queen attitude, and be happy that she was smart enough to take care of business, because if she can look after herself, she is more than capable of running his estate, probably better than him.
As for Supahead, well why even put her in the same sentence as Shaunie. This is a woman who bragged about Shaq putting 10,000 dollars in her account. That is no money, considering how much Shaq is worth. She got chump change , well Shaunie is about to get half. Now, Shaunie is the better woman.
After reading all 292 posts here, I have decided to reserve judgement on the Shaq/Shaunie situation until more details come out. However, I am shocked and saddened by it because I hate to see black marriages fail.
One thing though, dats_da_truth appears to have some serious anger and hatred issues toward black women. I think dats_da_truth should seek out some therapy for his issues.
