VH1 presented the 2nd Annual Black Girls Rock! event out in NYC on Saturday (October 6th). Hosted by Regina King & Gabrielle Union, the event recognizes exceptional women of color who have made outstanding contributions in their careers and communities. It’s ridiculous and that’s predominately what shows like this are for. They’ll never make a “Black People Rock” show and hell will have air conditioners before they have a “Black Men Rock” show but they’ll broadcast this show to appeal to the vanity of some of these sisters.

Dont get me wrong, I am aware and am educated with regards to the struggles that black women have had to face. I look at some of my aunts, strong black women who faced barriers in society and broke through ‘em so that people wouldnt care as much about their colour but more about their talent and work.
I am also aware of women of native american descent who struggled, chinese, puerto rican, latinas. All women have suffered in one way or another. Im not saying these women shouldnt be upheld and recognised but just BLACK women as opposed to all women, isnt that segregating one race from the rest? Whats that term called again, isnt it racism?
