Howard University’s spectacular homecoming took place last week and being a bison myself, I was there for some of the festivities. I had the pleasure of hanging with Janelle Monae who performed at Howard’s fashion show. This girl is one HECK of a performer!
Janelle is currently preparing for the release of her next suite from Metropolis, and the video for her first single Violet Stars Happy Hunting!.

I really wish I could have made it up there again this year.
I was in town last week and heard about Janelle’s show. This was the first time I had seen her live! She sounds exactly the way she does on record! NOBODY does that anymore!!!!! It’s like she is from another galaxy. Then you meet her and it’s like she is from your neighborhood. I felt like I knew her. She was so sweet, she took pictures with everyone and even told me she liked my style. If you don’t already know about her revolution you are late. Keep doing what you’re doing Janelle.

I was there at Most on the event JANELLE MONAE dance her ass out at the fashion show but some of her song was wack the Yardfest concert, and R&B concert was fire! i miss the Parade. Also the club party’s was mad crazy. MAN LOVE TO MY SCHOOL HU……
I totally have to experience a Howard U. homecoming. Nice to see Bow Wow and Omarion together. This time last year, they were reading one another into a box. LOL.
J. Monae has one of the prettiest voices I’ve heard! I never expected her to have a voice like that but she does. She is very unique and I like that about her. She doesn’t fit into the mold that most of these entertainers have.
Chrisette is a thicky. She looks good.
I was at the HU fashion show and was totally unamused by the models. I had never heard of the janelle monae girl until then, but I thought she was the highlight of the show. For those of you all that said london was more beautiful than cassie in a recent post you must feel stupid now. look at how beautiful she is, and she doesnt have any make-up on!
Sorry but Cassie has MS (Monkey Syndrome) Asian and Black just doesnt mix! the kids come out with really BIG features. Except for Kimora and Russell’s daughters (they are so precious but that may be because Kimora is half-black)
A perfect example is Amerie, she looked awful before that much needed nose job!

Lil’ Mama reminds me of a young MC Lyte…that’s a good thing. She can really rap! I caught her free stylin’ on BET ‘s Hip-Hop awards-there was a segment after the commerical breaks called (the “cipher”) where she and few other free styled.

Are we seriously having beef over two relatively irrelevent “celebrities”? Personally neither one of them look like anything special. Cassie goes from looking like a lil filipino boy, to looking like a tranny, and that other girl has a forgetable face.

I love Janelle’s hair! Nobody could rock that except her. It had to grow on me, but it’s really cute in person. Loves the afro pompador! I think I read her say that she performs in a black and white uniform which is what you see. I am sure she has more clothes, let’s not be stupid. That’s her style so I guess she can wear it as much as she wants to. Her music is so good! She released it independently and is about to sign a major deal soon. I hope they do her right. I’ve been familiar with her for awhile but, everyone SERIOUSLY needs to visit Janelle Monae’s myspace and listen to her music! I mean its some really innovative stuff and there truly is noone that sounds like her.

I was at the fashion show as well and got to meet Janelle. She is a FORCE while performing on stage–but in person face-to-face she isn’t overwhelming at all–she is SO SWEET, SO CENTERED, and has an absolute regal presence about her. I adore her and her music and what she stands for even more so now.
