JAY-Z’S AMERICAN GANGSTER

Tuesday, October 30, 2007

americangangster.jpg

♫ Jay-Z - Roc Boys

Only a week away from its November 6th release, Jay-Z’s American Gangster has leaked. Some were skeptical of Hov’s return, but in all honesty, his album delivers. I’m impressed with the production, as always, as well as the infectious hooks that I think I feel like a lot of songs lack these days, along with the immaculate sample choices made for the new record. AG is Jay-Z’s take on the story adapted for the same-titled film, starring Denzel Washington, T.I. (who was recently released from jail), and Common.

♫ Jay-Z feat. Lil’ Wayne - Hello Brooklyn

Although I have enjoyed the album, it definitely wasn’t exactly what I expected. The album flows really well, and features appearances from Lil’ Wayne, Pharrell Williams, Nas and a little speaking cameo from longtime girlfriend, Beyonce. Stand out tracks include “Pray,” “Hello Brooklyn,” and some of my personal favorites are “I Know,” produced by The Neptunes and the tightly arranged “American Dream.”

Jay-Z feat. Pharrell Williams - I Know (full) - listen

Please do a review on Angie Stone’s current CD. I think people will be pleasantly surprised how good her work is on this particular CD.

Love the album, lyrics are point, flow is nice, and beat are banging. Now watch a couple ppl come here and say I wish he retire, he ugly, sick of seeing him, but still post in this thread which is about him. LOL how ironic. Jay Z just sold out in under a minute in House of Blues in the Chicago, NY, and LA area with tickets being OVER a $100. So obviously a lot of people are not tired of him. Anyways this album is heat, American Gangster is my fav track thus far.

@BROOKLYNTOOKIT,

Obviously, your opinion is just that… An OPINION..

You’re probably not a producer or even somebody who can do music yourself, so what makes you think that your opinion over EVERY OTHER EDUCATED MUSIC CRITIC (respected) in this industry would even get acknowledged? The fact that you post ythat on CL shows that this is the only forum you have to actually make an attempt at relevancy.

I think it’s HILARIOUS!! Who ARE you?!!!

JAY HOVA is the Fuckin FIRE!! He’s the BOSS and you can’t TAKE it!!

Haters make the FUCKING world spin.. Without y’all there would be no MEGASTARS.. Keep puttin butter on my man HOV’s bread! LOLOLOLLMFAO!

@25

What da fuck are you talking about?

The critics have been tearing his album apart.

“Kingdom Come” got a 2 and a half from allmusic.com…and this album ain’t no different.

I’m sure you just some 12 year old kid who is a fan of Soulja Boy so I’m not even gonna give a flying fuck what you have to say…

Dont be fooled by the amazing beats/production folks…..Hov is kinda washed up, most of his album is guest appearances and now the concept is to talk about how he USED to sell drugs….booooo

I’m a fan….and I was happy with him bowing out gracefully with the Black album….let the newbies have it

Oh and the track with him and Nas…..NAS MURDERED JIGGA ON HIS OWN SHIT, WOW

#32. i have not heard one bad review form critics. Rolling Stone, EW, Source have all talked about how good of an album it is. If you do not like it thats fine.

he said it himself, its not a commercial album (no club bangers , no number #1 song)

36.

louiis Rich

Tuesday, October 30, 2007 /

Ditto #8 This proves why Jay-Z is a icon in this game. The songs are great and even though there are references of drugs and violence the songs show humility and substance not the cliche’ gangsta rap songs that are hot at the moment. HOVA delivered another classic and he desrves to sell just as much if not more than Kanye & 50. Who knew some old puff daddy beatz would manifest to a quality CD!

This is why after a decade Jay is still mentioned as one of the greats where will all the haters be years from now? (Jim Jones,Cam’ron,Dame Dash, & MAYBE YOU!)

THE DYNASTY CONTINUES………

I’m a Jay-Z fan but that relates to his albums before “Kingdom Dumb” the dude can spit the most relevant shit that comes off the top of his head, but the stuff he has now is garbage. I’m not gonna say his shit is still relevant when it ain’t.

And he sure as hell isn’t the Best Rapper Alive! Are you fucking kidding me? As long as Rakim, Pharaoh Monche, GZA & the rest of Wu-Tang, and Nas are alive Jay-Z is nowhere near the greatest. I doubt if he sold as many records he would even have that “status.”

WOW!! I see the haters are out today with this one. This album is HOT face it! You all cried about wanting Jay to come harder, you wanted the drug swagger back and you needed to feel the old Jay. Now you got it and you STILL complain. This album is hotter than half the Soulja Boy, DJ Khaled tracks out nowadays. Nothing will ever live up to Reasonable Doubt because it’s a classic album and it took Jay his whole life to make. Everyone wants Brooklyn Hov back but he’s not in that mind frame no more. How are you gonna rap about selling that stuff on the corner and how it’s so hard in the hood when you just left a board meeting at Def Jam? Your not and that’s why he came the way he did on KC and people couldn’t handle it. Was KC his best…nah but his worst album was still better than half the corny mess saturating the market. You all wanted the old Hov back and he was able to give you some of that by doing a concept album!! What better way to be able to tap into the old Jiggaman everyone misses!

74.

DOOM!

Tuesday, October 30, 2007 /

I C that nearly everyone is drinking the Jay-Z “kool-aid”. Not only is Shawn Carter a bonafide sell out, but how many times can you rap about selling drugs? He projects this wannabe “gangster” image that has fools like ya’ll eating it up. The nigga’s act is old. He’s washed the fuck up!!! (Yes, I said it!! His old azz is W-A-S-H-E-D U-P!!!)

He needs to really retire and never make another album again. There ain’t a damn thing dope about singing songs about killing your people. That is what’s wrong with black folks today. We seem to embrace the lowest of the low especially when it comes to images.

I know all of you Jay-Z “Stans” will curse me to high heaven, but I really don’t give a fuck about ya’ll much like this man’s ass that you love to kiss so much.

BTW, Brian you seem to love all of the top “HipPop” albums, theres more out there than what U szee on BEt and MTV. Man, no offense, but get you some musical depth beside lousy azz rap and shitty r&b and dispicable pop.

How in da hell can you take Jay-Z seriously with him talking about slinging crack and all that mess when he never said any of that mess on his last records???

The Clipse and Wu-Tang can do crack rap correct but Jay-Z cannot! Stick to what you do best Jay and that’s coming with lyrics straight from the street.

I know for a fact his love for Beyonce has got him so sprung that his rapping has gone from excellent to borderline Chingy mess………………

Lemme give y’all dumb Jay stans an example of Jay’s falling off:

Ahuh Ahuh (Yea Rihanna)
Ahuh Ahuh (Good girl gone bad)
Ahuh Ahuh (Take three… Action)
Ahuh Ahuh

No clouds in my storms
Let it rain
I hydroplane into fame (Eh eh)
Come’n down with the Dow Jones
When the clouds come we gone
We Rocafella (Eh eh)
She fly higher than weather
And she rocks it better
You know me
An anticipation for precipitation
stacks chips for the rainy day (Eh eh)
Jay, rain man is back with lil Ms. Sunshine
Rihanna where you at?

WHAT THE FUCK! WAS THAT HOT MESS OF A VERSE????????????????????????????????? Jay needs to sit his ass down while we can still reminisce about his presence in the 90s-2004

79.

CoCo

Tuesday, October 30, 2007 /

Now he’s a wannabe gangster? LMAO it’s a concept album about a gangster flick what do you want him to do?!? It’s not like he’s just putting out this music because he wants to keep a hard street image. He was inspired by the movie..

Cheryl……..85% of females (not myself) don’t know shit about hip-hop or rap.

That percentage includes you!

Please direct yourself to your Yung Berg, T.I. and Bow Wow albums, since I’m sure all you do is buy albums based on how the rapper looks instead of the lyrics that they have.

HA HA HA THAT WAS SOME FUNNY SHIT ESPECIALLY SINCE I DON’T LIKE ANY OF THE ONES YOU JUST LISTED, I DON’T EVEN KNOW WHO YOUNG BERG IS! I AM MORE OF A MJG & 8 BALL, UGK, ERIC B & RAKIM, JAY-Z KINDA GIRL! NICE TRY THOUGH! HELL I LIKE THE ROOTS, BOW WOW HA HA HA YOU MUST THINK I AM SOME TEENY BOOPER!

It’s an incredible album that talks about the rise AND FALL of a drug lord. If you clueless yentas actually listened to the entire album you’d see that he gives you whole picture with no bullshitting. It’s not just another typical rap album glorifying violence and drugs. You people probably nevah went outside your white picket fences in the country.

Please stop hating on Jay-Z and other artist for that matter. This is one of the problems in the Black Community…we can’t support one another. The man was a kid from the projects, and now he is a successful millionaire! Why not support the Black man rather than talk crap? It’s funny how we dis and talk about our own people; yet you never hear this kind of negitivity from other races. This album is incredible, I’ve been listening to it non-stop for the past week. I vibe with “Say Hello”, “Fallin”, “American Dreamin” and “Success”. This album is lyricially and musically superior to “The Blueprint” (a classic in its own right). Jay has outdone himself, but he needed the motivation (AG the film) to drop gem after gem on this album. I can’t wait to see the film AG, & I’m sure that will allow me to appreciate AG the album even more.

My favorite rapper of all time. His flow is soo damn smooth. I loved Kingdom Come by the way. It’s all the people checking for the lame dance track rap that couldn’t get the concept. I know i was pissed because i couldn’t get tickets to none of his shows they sold out completely in minutes. Jay gives a great concert, I’ve been to 4.

hey everyone is entitled to their opinions about what they like or dislike but it’s pathetic to posting on someone you so called hate more than once. it’s people on here like 4 or more times trying to internet bullies, How Lame. We love him and you don’t we get it now move on. Unless your getting paid to hate by the amount of post you put up there’s no point to keep coming back. The next time you choose to “quote” an artist please get the lyrics right and not online. It’s apparent that Hov’s flow is above you which is the reason why you think his lyrics don’t make any sense. The correct verse says

No clouds in my STONES (referring to clear diamonds)
Let it rain, I hydroplane in the bank
Coming down like the Dow Jones
When the clouds come we gone, we Rocafella
WE fly higher than weather
IN G5’s OR BETTER,
You know me,
In anticipation, for precipitation stacked chips for the rainy day
Jay,
Rain Man is back

Oh and by the way Ghostface, Method Man, Raekwon have praised Jay-Z in the past. Not to mention other legends like Rakim, Slick Rick, Snoop, AND BIGGIE. NOW WHAT? THANKS FOR GIVING THIS ALBUM A GOOD REVIEW.

GOOD MUSIC SLIPS THROUGH THE CRACKS WHEN IT’S REVIEWED BY THE WRONG PEOPLE OR PEOPLE WHO DON’T UNDERSTAND HIP HOP. IN THIS CASE, PEOPLE WHO DIDN’T UNDERSTAND THE 80′S AND THAT THIS ALBUM’S TAILORED TO A MOVIE.

NIKKI #23 & #24: SORRY TO DISAPPOINT YOU BOO, BUT THAT RECORD YOU HEAR EVERY TIME THE PROMO’S PLAYED ON T.V., ETC. FOR AG IS JAY’S SONG “HEART OF THE CITY”. YES, IT’S A SAMPLE FROM A PAST RECORD, BUT THE VERSION THAT’S BEING USED IS JAY’S. OF COURSE, HE’S ON THE ALBUM. DENZEL WANTED JAY TO DO THE COMPLETE SOUNDTRACK, BUT BRIAN GRAZER DIDN’T THINK HE WAS INTERESTED AT THE TIME.

There are plenty of rap artists who are great lyrically. Relevancy in the CURRENT music world is what counts! Sitting on past fame makes you out of touch, out of sync, and longing for the past… Let’s move forward and congratulate HOV on taking the premise of a great movie, and creating a wonderful narrative.

You can’t listen to only two or three songs on the album and form a complete, educated opinion.. It tells a story!! You wouldnt’ read a books first two chapters and assume that entire book is whack!?? Come on black folks–get the diddies off the site hatin on JIGGA!!!

I’ve heard most of the tracks and he should have reached out to Kayne, if your going for the 70’s feel bring in Ye to do at least one track, but since this isn’t the 70’s how is he suppose to take us back to the hustling days of that era when dude wasn’t even hustling in the 70’s? When I heard Blue Magic with P, I thought he was going to bring it back to the 80’s, then I heard most of the tracks and it feels like its the 70’s again, like I don’t get it. Jay-z once said in his lyrics that he “dumb down his lyrics and doubled his dollars; yet they criticized him for it; but they all yelled Holla”. This man, as does 50 cent, believes that the American public is too dumb to comprehend anything other than nursery rhymes and street talk. And looking from his vantage point, I would agree. I mean, Jay-z had to resort to rehashing Reasonable Doubt for fear of American Gangster not matriculating into dollars and street cred. This 40 year old man is rhyming about guns, dope, and bitches. Rap/Hiphop is for the youth made by the youth. Again, he is 40. He dissed MIMS for the same reasons he changed his whole lyrical style—Getting Money. I can only assume that he addressed music insiders about American Gangster the way he did out of fear of it not receiving good reviews. Please, music critics/bloggers/writers use your degrees! Don’t fall for his “Aura over Substance” crap! I know there aren’t many albums out right now for which Jay-z’s album could be compared to but damn; stop treating him like he’s George Bush before the war—An unquestionable leader. Give an honest review! Is he saying anything new, groundbreaking, or earth shattering? No! I must say, however, that he is very smart. Seizing the opportunity to hide behind a movie is genius. That way if it isn’t successful, as would be expected coming from him, he can claim it was inspired by the movie– it’s not his best. Remember, he started making this album prior to the movie. The movie may bolster album sales, but the underserved/uneducated followers of Jay-z will consider it a classic. Biggie said it best: “Treat your last album like your first”.

It’s sad that a person judges everything by the one thing he knows. Good-luck Jay-z!

naked truth is a banging album sorry…trackswise, rapwise, kim really made that hardcore banging CD from a female’s perspective. if things was equal between male and female lil’ kim and lauryn back when she was still making music would be as revered as biggie and jay.
that’s my story and i’m sticking to it.
as for jigga, i liked kingdome come because i felt it was real for where he was in his life. i dug the shit, cause i’m in his age group and i got where he was. when all the young shit comes with a dance, someone who can rnyme about something is cool with me.
but for real tho…i dig that duffle bag boys joint…it ain’t bout nothing but the rhyme and the track and the hook is banging….

The conceptual album is an excuse to bring the gun/drug talk back out, I can’t respect it if he’s rapping from another man’s perspective, that’s lame. Its either you doing it for real or you not, don’t use the album as an excuse to bring the gangster shit back out. You Shawn Carter or Frank Lucas, this dude been out the street for years and I’m just not buying it. If its hip hop then we can get down, if it’s not hip hop oriented then its lame to me, I’ve heard it all before.

i listened to the whole cd today. and while it has a 1996 hiphop feeling to it. the content once again is lame. its just as boring as Kingdom Come.

the two best tracks are “ignorant shit” where beanie sigel out flowd jay as always and “success” where nas crushed jay.

the track with little wayne left me scratching my head. ever since mtv said llil wayne was the best when he never was. but the caliber of lyrics have totally fallen by the way side.

Amercian ganster once agian is Jay-Z riding on the coattails of someting(the movie) to bring relevance to his album. Like he’s always done but using other artist his whole career.

he talks about god,he talks about his dad leaving him and his siblings as children the reuniting then his dad dieng,he talks about his uncle who was murdered,he talks about what’s going on in hiphop, about lost friends, about the struggle in the coke game and so much more

the album is amazing and impressive but these children don’t know how to appreciate it all i know is i’m gonna watch him perform all the new songs on the vh1 special on the 8th of (hov)ember then i’mma cop this shit.and yes that is beyonce praying with him on the song pray

#132 HE SAW THE MOVIE FIRST, HOW DO YOU THINK HE GOT AUDIO FROM THE MOVIE, THAT’S WHY STATEMENTS SUCH AS THESE GETS DIMISSED. IF YOU DID SOME KIND OF RESEARCH BEFORE YOU STARTED TYPING YOU WOULD KNOW THIS TIDBIT OF INFORMATION! UNIVERSAL INVITED HIM TO A PRIVATE SCREENING. IT’S NOTHING WRONG WITH NOT LIKING HIM, BUT IF YOU ARE GOING TO DISCREDIT HIM USE FACTS!

Initially brought to his attention by Universal’s noted soundtrack executive Kathy Nelson, American Gangster depicts the true story of Frank Lucas, a Harlem drug kingpin who amassed a $250 million empire in less than 10 years in the 1970s. Referencing Lucas’ reserved, all-business attitude, Jay-Z often echoes the aspirational themes of the film, as on “No Hook,” which finds him snarling, “f*ck rich, let’s get wealthy.”

American Gangster (Universal/Imagine), directed by acclaimed filmmaker Ridley Scott, is in theaters on November 2. Jay-Z’s American Gangster will be available four days later on November 6.

maybe you need to learn alittle about what good music is. Go pick up a Nas, Common, The Game, Talib, royce da 5′9’s mixtape “the bar exam” or something

b/c “AG” is trash

AG is crazy. Jay is himself on this album!.. Not that he was ever not himself but.. since people wanna act like they forgot or don’t know, he’s simply reminding people of who he is & what he’s still capable of doing.. making incredible music effortlessly! People can try and say whatever about Jay and people can call Jay fans stans & whatever else you like. Do your do buttercups! But Jay will forever be one of the greatest emcees ever ( inclusive of Biggie, Rakim, Nas.. etc.. and a handful of others.) Jay sh…ts all over your favorite rapper on his worst track! So hate until your little hearts content! It’s Hovie baby. HA!

I JUST LOVE IT HOW ALL THE RAPPERS YOU NAME ON HERE AS “THE GREATEST RAPPERS” ALL HAIL HOVA AS ONE OF THEGREATEST AFTER BIGGIE AND PAC…. HMMMMM… INTERESTING…

AND I’M SURE THAT THEY ALL KNOW A LOT MORE ABOUT THE RAP AND HIP HOP GAME THAN THE REST OF YOU…

SAY WHAT YOU WANT, BUT THERE IS A VERY CRUCIAL DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GANGSTA RAP, ORIGINAL HIP-HOP AND CONTEMPORARY HIP-HOP— LEARN THE DIFFERNCE AND APPRECIATE THE IMPACT THAT OUR MUSIC MAKES ON INTERNATIONAL CULTURE..

LETS START CONGRATULATING BLACK FOLKS, INSTEAD OF WASTING OUR ENERGY ON DOWNPLAYING THE ARD WORK OR OUR CULTURAL ICONS..

WHITE FOLK DON’T DO THAT TO THEIR OWN, SO WHY SHOULD WE?!!!!

THAT’S WHY WE AS A CULTURE HOLD EACH OTHER BACK…

Are you kidding me?

White people talk as much trash about their people as we do ours! If the music is crap, then its crap…..no racial divide involved.

crap IS AN OPINION… BRITNEY SPEARS’ ALBUM IS ACTUALLY GOOD FROM A PRODUCT PERSPECTIVE. THE MUSIC INDUSTRY IS A BUSINESS, AND CDS ARE PRODUCTS FOR THAT INDUSTRY. IF THE PRODUCT IS GOOD THAT YOU PUT OUT, THAT MEANS SUCCESS FOR THE INDUSTRY AS A WHOLE. KANYE AND 50′S MARKETING BEEF DID WONDERS FOR MUSIC INDUSTRY SALES. THAT’S WHAT ITS ALL ABOUT.

iTS ABOUT MORE THAN THE MUSIC. I PERSONALLY FEEL THAT THE MUSIC ON HOV’S ALBUM IS GREAT, BUT AGAIN THATS MY OPINION.

EVEN WITH MY OPINION MATCHING THE MAJORITY, THE MINORITY WHO HATE IT STILL ARE ENTITLED TO THEIR OPINIONS–REGARDLESS OF HOW DELUSIONAL..

159.

CJ

Wednesday, October 31, 2007 /

That’s funny.. Only the BROKE ass haters are the ones hating.. SUCCESSFUL men like MYSELF don’t hate..

We CONGRATULATE and SUCCEED… Not spend all of our time and energy on somebody’s BLOG downing each other..

Think about that one? How many thousands do YOU have in YOUR bank account?

LMAO.. Silly rabbits. Jay is doin his dayum thing.. So much so, that all of us are on here talking about HIM! Do you HONESTLY think he even CARES about your negative opioions?

He gets enough respect from LEGENDS , that he wouldn’t waste his energy on the minority who DON”T EVEN MATTER… LOL

Get that MONEY.. Love the HATERS…

@ 152, I do not wish to get into a cyber quarrel over my opinion. Also, I have not dismissed the PR write up about how he “supposedly” became inspired from the movie. I am going to state, however, that like the spin doctoring that even our illustrious government provides to the American people so can the PR machine for Def Jam. I just don’t believe that prior to him making AG that he wasn’t already in the studio, especially after the KC fiasco. And, if so, which songs were already made or in progress? With that being said, I can infer that maybe some songs from AG were already in the “hustler” style. For which I can conclude that he “felt” the “need” to rap “again” about the “golden days” of hustling back in the ’90s. The man is 40. Still rapping at 40. He has become the Michael Jordan (#45) of Hiphop, which he vowed not to become–sad. As did Michael, he really thinks the game needs him. So, to the detriment of other Def Jam artists he will continue and the fans of his artistry will love him for it. I must say, however, he’s very astute at getting money—that knowledge I think he could share with up-and-coming artists. But it intrigues me more to know that he haphazardly feels the need to invoke the spirit of a street hustler, which he is no longer. In my opinion that reeks of insecurity and addiction to the lime light. I would love to see him achieve accolades as the President of Def Jam like other business men who are brought in to turnaround companies like Michael Eisner did at Paramount and Disney. But it appears that’s all there is to it. Believe it or not, I’m happy for him. It’s cool. He’s rich. He made it. Where? Only he knows. Like I said before, “A fool judges everything by the one thing he knows”. Good Luck Jay-z!

@ CONSTANTINE

I completely and totally understand and agree with everything you say..

HOWEVER, we must also all understand, that we all struggle in different ways. What makes us who we eventually become are the decisions and choices that we make.

Whether PR or not, Jay has the right to be inspired by what he wishes, and his goals should be SELF-RELEVANT, regardless of whether or not they’re relevant to any of us. A FAN is someone who likes an artist’s work. If you don’t liek his work, then you’re not a fan, and there is nothing wrong with that considering you can’t please EVERYBODY.

We have spent a lot of time in and out of this blog trying to pick apart our own individual opinions and make attempts to understand what motivates someone like Jay-Z.

Until we walk a mile in his shoes, we won’t get it. Until we have a convo with him, or listen to him with an open mind during his interviews, we won’t get it.

I think it’s time we stop trying to GET IT and just accept that everybody’s different–we don’t all like the same things, and we don’t all respond to the same things the same way.

It works for him.. We we STRIVE for and how we act works for us. That’s what it is. This is useless for us to sit here going back and forth with our opinions while people like Jay are out there on their grind gettin PAID. It makes LOOK like HATERS..

Is that how we want to be perceived by successful people? Just asking??

Salut Cherrylinmiami. Thanks for the correction. I sense a nerve has been pinched. If so, my bad. But; question? Is 38 closer to 40 or 20? Remember, Hiphop is a youth culture (teenagers to young adults). I’m with you. He’s great. He’s, to you, bringing back the ‘real’ Hiphop. I’m happy for you. Please, in the future, let me know what the content on his next album will be. Also let me know of the status of the other artist on his label, Roc a Fella, and Def Jam. Assuming he won’t retire again. Let me know how he has changed the game behind the scenes as well. An inquiring mind would love to know. Again, thanks for the correction and I look forward to hearing from you again.

Dear Haters,
Just heard these tracks…..had to put what I was doing down just to say that this dude is a genius..I mean really there’s little to say unless I repeat, UNLESS you’re a hater or you’re deaf… Sharp - image filled lyrics, epic beats - c’mon haters “males shouldn’t be jealous that’s a female trait, what you mad cause you push dimes and he sell weight…”(for you blueprint lovers) and reasonable doubt stays in rotation in the CD deck. Album is a classic, and just around his average of classic/2.5 albums - why you surprised? Let go and enjoy the audio storytelling…

To CJ in your # 155 post. I’m not completely sure if that first sentence in your post was directed towards me.. however if it is, I’m missing the the point off that statement. It doesn’t matter what order you list the greatest emcees of all time, unless the discussion requires numerical ordering. I rarely list them in numerical order unless for that purpose. Therefore, who I list first in one instance, may very well be listed last in another instance regarding the same topic. The point of the matter is they are recognized as being one of the greatest emcees of all time. That’s the relevant point.

Your statement about them “knowing more than the rest of you”, is a matter of
YOUR opinion. You’ve stated a time or so in your posts about everyone being intitled to their opinion, but you precede those statements with the one above. Sounds a bit contradicting to me. Yes those other artist credited as being of the greastest emcees off all time may know a great deal about their own material. They may also know a bit of knowledge about another rapper’s life , depending on how well they know the rapper or if the information they’ve aquired about the rapper is factual. However, their opinion of another rapper’s capabilities and skills isn’t anymore valid than any other person’s opinion. They too are merely listeners with opinions just like everyone else. At the end of the day their all opinions.

That’s alright though, but you are more like a hyper fan. People are allowed to have their own opinions about who is the best. Expand your mind a bit and get your head out of Jay Z’s ass already.
