This should be interesting…I don’t see BOX OFFICE SMASH HIT or anything but nice to see a more constant flow w/ the black movies premiering!

I don’t know it seems as though this is another version of “Are We There Yet.” How many movies have Gabby and Morris done together?

I don’t know about this one…it’s just doesn’t make me wanna go spend my $7.50. They do cast Gabriel and Morris together alot. There’s kind of a shortage of black actresses and actors. If they need a new actor to cast with her then I’m your man, I don’t mind kissing her. We gonna do about 50 takes though cause I want it to be perfect lol.

I love these actors but there are SO many more black folks in America. I think it’s time we widen the black actors pool, because umm Gabby and Morris is tired to me.

I AM SO TIRED OF UNION AND CHESTNUT CAN WE GET SUM NEW ACTORS PLZ….

AND UNION AS A MOTHER OF THREE IS NOT BELIEVABLE AT ALL

AND THAT CHICK FROM HALF AND HALF LOOKS SO OUT OF PLACE N A BLACK MOVIE….LOL

OTHER THAN DAT IT LOOKS FINE…THEY SHOULD HAVE PICKED BETTER LEADS B/C EVERY ONE ELSE IS STR8

ILL BOOTLEGG IT…I RATHER PAY FOR THE CHRIS BROWN JOINT

And you are telling me this because?

Can we get a different movie I feel with black films Im seeing the same film over and over with the exception of Tyler Perry films and Dreamgirls. Think of new plots, new actors, and stop remaking movies that were done in the late 1990s early 2000 era…we can do better!

Not the kind of movie I like to see blacks in- no substance or quality. I understand these actors need to be paid and that there’s a shortage of roles for black actors but DAMN!- this movie???!! Idk, I can see my listserv group labeling this one as another “coonfest” flick. I think I’ll catch this one when USA, TBS or TNT picks it up.

Seriously I hate Gabrielle Union as an actress. She seems to be casted in the same successful black woman roles but to be in this? I dont think she will be believeable simply because she’s always type casted. Her roles in the past always called for the “sarcastic smart witty” humor which is not funny (for her) anymore. In my opinion, she needs to get bigger substantial roles. Also, this really sounds like another ” Are We There Yet? ” where the kids are trying to get rid of Mom’s new boyfriend so she can get back with their father in the midst of typical funny antics. BORRRING…the plot is very predictable. Last but not least, I love Terrence Howard as an actor but sometimes I feel like hes the black version of Clive Owen, Jude Law, and Scarlett Johansson. Its good to develop your acting skills but it can also hurt your career when you are casted in every movie. Maybe its just me but I feel like I’ve seen him way too much with black oriented films.
I don’t think I am paying my 9.50 to see this…

I;m all for supporting black movies but…..

There are alot of talented black actors and actresses out there but they insist on using the same 5 ones? Gabriel and Morris have either been together or married at least 5 or 6 times in a movie. Thats soooo overkill. The characters they play are becoming irrelevant due to their overexposure. Who remembers the name of the last character Denzel played? We dont..becauase it was that “New Denzel Movie” and nothing else

This movie is going to suck. It’s either they’re saving all the good clips when the movie comes out or they’re just showing you all the bad clips just in case purposes.

Gabrielle Union is not believable playing mother of three. She needs to fire her publicist, her stylist and even her manager.

I see we’ve moved on from hair salons and now to christmas time. I’m sure 5 more ofcf these babies are coming out with probably the same actors. It should not be this bad for black hollywood that we constantly have to repeat the same movie over and over i.e. weddings(the wood/the brothers/best man), hair salon(beauty shop, the salon, nora’s hair salon) need i say more.A little more creativity.

I am defintley lookin forward to seeing this movie cuz I love me some Morris Chestnut he’s so fly chocolatey and sexy n it’s nice to see him playing in family movies. I also like Gabby too I agree those two have major chemistry they’ve been in so many movies. I can’t wait to see it, it looks like it’s gonna be good n I hope it does well at the box office

Just like Christmas Soul Food or whatever its called (the one with Chris Brown), I will see it simply to support the all-black cast, but I don’t expect anything but a few laughs, one or two smile crackers, and something to take up my time on a Friday night.

I saw the previews of this movie this weekend. It looks like it will be something worth seeing. Do I think that it will be a #1 box office movie…………. Nah! But I will go and see it. It looks like it will follow the lines of the movie “Soul Food”! I just hate to see black movies with 20-30 people starring! That drives me crazy!

40.

Monday, October 22, 2007 /

Union & Chestnet = C Movie at best. All they need to do is throw in Meagan Good to guarantee a flop. I dunno, I think I’m gonna wait for this one to go to dvd. With this cast of actors it should be in a good 3 months after it hit the theathers.

41.

Monday, October 22, 2007 /

I don’t care if you are black and that does not give you a pass for puttting out garbage. Black people are INTELLIGENT and shouldn’t be bitting each other or LOWERING STANDARDS just cause “they are black”. Swear the perfect christmas reminds me of “Daddy’s Little Girls” and “Are we there yet” wrapped in one movie. Yes white people bite off other directors but that don’t make it right.

Also did Cl say that there is a movie called could the cookout coming with Kat williams. Didn’t a movie with that title already come out like 4 yrs ago starring Meagan Good and Ja Rule and Styles P and Eve. SMMFH.

42.

43.

Monday, October 22, 2007 /

^^^^say what you want you didn’t dispute that fact that the movie premise is the same as other black movies we have seen. The only black movie that is worth seeing now is TP Why did I get married. Even thought that movie was a little ghetto, it was touching.

44.

Tonnia

Monday, October 22, 2007 /

I think I’ll definitely wait for the television version-this somehow doesn’t give me the same anticipation as Why did I get married..although that was worth every penny of the $10.50 that i spent seeing it on opening night-

and to #7: where do you live where movies are $7.50? lol!!

46.

seductiverose

Monday, October 22, 2007 /

I agree with most of the Gabby Union comments. I feel like she’s always playin the SAME EXACT roles. And movie to movie, it’s not like they get any better because they all be havin the same damn concept. It’s the same thing as Morris Chestnut– like why can’t he do some action movies, I mean SERIOUS action movies, his ass is always playin the so-called “Romeo” of the film. Ish is gettin’ played out…

If this movie is anything like “Why Did I Get Married” then it may have a shot then it may have a shot but other than that, they might as well put this straight to DVD..

I saw the trailer for this over the weekend. I was like not Gabby and Morris together again. I need Gabby to play a different type of role where she is some independent sister falling in love with some great guy. I am tired of seeing her in that role. I liked when she was in Bad Boys 2. She is going to be type cast if she does not get more versatility in her roles.

Okay okay okay I just saw the movie trailor.

The movie didn’t add up.

I’m glad they had Gab and the kids up in the mansion and not in the projects, but why is her kids still looking and acting ghetto. How does a woman in the suburbs fall for a mall Santa-well she doesn’t know he is a mall Santa. When I moved to the burbs you hood nicca’s can kiss my ass.lol I’m a do what MEN do when they make it big, trade old girl in for a upgrade. Last, I do not like Morris Chestnut bald, noooooooooo, he is a beautiful man I don’t know what happened. Why was Queen Latifah looking like Janice Combs in the platinum blonde wig. This director needs to go back to the drawing board and find a good project to green light. I’m all for Blacks working but come on………?

I LOVE Gabrielle and Morris 2gether
But I want to know why they feel they must always cast them together? It could have been Gabrielle and Terrence. It seems that Gabrielle had her share of black actors - Will Smith, Idris Elba LL Cool J, etc. but anytime Morris comes back to do a “BLACK COMEDY MOVIE”(not the bullshit horror movies he’s been doing lately) he ends up with Gabrielle, nobody but Gabrielle. I’m beginning to think he is doing this on purpose LOL

This is a movie that you can watch with your children - BY the way I still Love Gabby and Morris Together - I’m a Fan of their chemistry

54.

(YAWN) Black movies are alllllll the same. Even TP’s Why Did I get Married, was nothing more then a cookie cutter of his other films. Since TP likes to flaunt the fact that his movies are produced, written, and starring him, why doesn’t he take the intiative as a powerful black film maker and produce films with some substance and not just his typical ONE dimensional characters. If black actors want to be cast in good rolls we are going to have to step up people and produce things of substance and not just films that perpetuate us as stereotypes. Black audiences are HUNGRY for quality black cinema….there is a VOID, unfortunately that void is being filled by films like Why Did I Get Married, which is why it was number #1 at the box office. It would seem that studios would realize there is a market for black films…can we see something FRESH and different PLEASE!?

@50 what upgrade are you talking about?

@59 Even though I don’t have so much enthusiasm to go see Perfect Holiday, but I rather see that or any other typecast black movie than these freakish, demonic, white triller movies that’s out during the year. Why did I get married was #1 because it was a good movie with great casting and it had substance and meaning unlike other movies that’s out there. I hope you’re not insinuating that blacks should the type of movies that white people make.

65.

#2 is right on point. Same thing I was thinking. It looks like “Are We There Yet”. And Gab and Chestnut have been in about 5 movies together and always the love interest. WOW. Not really feeling the movie. I’d rather go and see “This Christmas” with Regina King, Chris Brown, and Lauren London.
