what you are saying is that because this little girl disrepected herself this boy had to disrepect himself. The law said she was to young to consent to anyone that includes Genarlow and his homie. The law was made for that reason, because at 15 you dont know. Now I’m sure he knew it was wrong and if he didnt his mommy should have taught him better. And talking about parents not being around. who teaches their kid to run trains on girls in the school. Many girls testified at his trial that this is the nor with him and his buddies. He not noble or brave for enduring jail. Let not forget that all he had to do was pleaed out and he would have recieve the same charge that it has been reduced to and only served one year in jail. Teach these boys to respect themselves. It aint always about what the other person is doing. As soon a black people learn that the world will be a better place.

# 124 the 17 year old girl was intoxicated, not unconscious. Big difference. There was a videotape, had she actually had been unconscious he would have been convicted of rape.

Unfortunately, this kid can’t sue for anything because his conviction was based on an actual law. He wasn’t (technically) wrongfully imprisoned.

The funny thing about this case is when he was in court for sentencing, a 26-year old teacher received a 3 month sentence for having sex with her 16 year old student. She was being sentenced in a court room right down the hall from his.

The fact of the matter is that is was not a boy and a girl doing a lude sex act. It was a 15 year old girl and six 17 boys. Thats a Freshmen and 6 seinors. Even if you dont think this is wrong, you have to appericate the fact that at the age of 15 you cant consent. This is in every state in America. Genarlow said he didn’t do it, then he said yea I did it but it wasn’t illegal, when they told him his options he chose to go to trial. The DA did not think 10 years it was fair so he offered all 5 of the boys pleas. Two years, one in jail and the other on papers. This is what Genarlow is now concvited of. He was not aquited. They let him out of jail for time serve. He could have faught this battle while he was at somebody’s college, instead of in jail still talking about he aint do nothing wrong. Most of the boys didn’t even serve all of the year. This aint OJ, they got him on tape having sex with a drunk girl. Which he claims is ok cause she did say no, weather she could or not.

I completely agree with you Thomian. Placing all the blame on these boys is ridiculous. It really makes no sense at all, I mean if we’re gonna lock teenage boys up for receiving head from a 15 year old, lock her ass up for giving head @ 15.

What these kids were doing has nothing to do with how their parents raised them. I don’t know any parents who encourage their kids to go out drinking, give head, get head, etc…that’s ridiculous.

@#18. It’s not the girl’s fault, so she shouldn’t be hung out to dry. This wasn’t a civil case filed by the girl, it was a criminal case filed by the State. The girl and her mother defended him. This was the result of a racist prosecutor and sytem run amok.

God is good. I read the article on him awhile ago because my auntie at work emailed it to me and I was actually pissed over the story. I understand there are different laws in different states but that 10 year sentence was ridiculous. I honestly signed the petition and hopefully that was something that help. God bless him and his family and I hope he can move forward in a positive direction.

I am so sick of the bullshit people are saying especially JA. First of all I Graduated from Douglas County High School and was close with Genarlow. He is a wonderful person and that is all I have to say about him. To clear up what some people are saying… Yes there were two girls but both girls were BLACK. There was no white girl even at the party. It wasn’t about race until it went to court b/c we have a racist DA in Douglas County.

His sister is 9 years old and was much younger when this happend so in no way this girl close to his sisters age. The girl was a hoe and she knew what she was doing. He did not force her to do anything and if you knew her you know that she would do anybody. She didn’t even go to the police and when the police contacted her she was just as shocked as the boys were.

As far as the plea deal goes…. he was the only one who didn’t take a plea and for good reason. That law was made to protect children from adults, not throw teens in prison for oral sex. He would have been called a sex offender for the rest of his life for getting head from a girl TWO years younger than him. How stupid can you be to say he deserved to be in prison. The law was even changed because the state realized it needed to be revised. I am so pissed I couold go on forever………………………..
