RED CARPET TRENDS: 80′S GOLD

Tuesday, October 23, 2007

80sjewels.jpg

80s.jpg
For a while now celebrities have been going gold with their jewelry on the red carpet. Rihanna with her bamboo earrings, Nas with his rope chain, Beyonce with the nameplate necklace - it’s clear to see that the 80s is back in this new century. 80’s gold definitely brings brings fun to a look - big or small (and usually it’s the bigger, the better).

Want to get your hands on some? Visit jackienicole for a variety of affordable choices in earrings and rope chains. Another good site Jewlerybynet for those nameplate earrings, necklaces, and/or rings, along with fruition who specialize in designer jewelry and quality rope chains.

Funny I still have my gold earrings and name plate. Never let them go b/c they reminded me of Brooklyn in the 80’s. Boy you would rock your gold and hope no one stole them. Ahhh the good ole times

Remember when you had to use pay phones to call you man
When you take your car radio out of your car
when you had your crew sprayed on your shirt

@ #10 Get_Me_Bodied: If you know how to wear jewelry correctly you can wear silver and gold at the same time if you wear it spraringly; actually some expensive pieces of jewelry are made with silver and gold together.

Meghan Good is the only one that can pull off the 80s gold look — it’s still ugly, though!

Why did everyone have to jump on the bandwagon, though! That is what I don’t get! Why can’t folks let folks be original! I bet half these people I see on the street with this look weren’t even thinking about this 80s gold look until their favorite celebs did it. Get some originality folks — good GOSH!

54.

Buffalo Stance

Tuesday, October 23, 2007 /

#10, you sound so ignorant saying: “I HAVE ALWAYS ROCKED NOTHIN BUT REAL GOLD”

AND … you want an award for that?

That comment of yours is so 80s! Where are you from — backwoods south! I am not trying to be mean when I say that because I am from backwoods north, but at least we have the sense to know that gold (real or fake) doesn’t make a person. I hate gold unless it’s small. Big bold gold is tacky to me. Even silver in big bold styles is ugly and tacky looking. I am classic: pearl earrings (black and white ones) or no earrings!

LOL @ this being a trend. Being from Brooklyn, bamboo earrings, nameplates & the like never really went out of style. I got so tired of seeing everyone else with their nameplates and shit that I retired mine about a year or two ago.

smh @ a few people screaming GOLD never went out of style…THAT’S not the topic.

Anyways. I never was a gold wearer. I stick to the white gold & silver.

I had this SICK nameplate a good 4-5 years ago. Two silver hearts with my name etched between em…and an onyx backing. I was the ONLY one out my way rocking one.

I think the 80’s gold look is cool to rock on CERTAIN occassions.

Wednesday, October 24, 2007 /

Um, #67., pearls just ain’t for the old! I’m 32, look 14, and I wear pearls. I don’t have to wait until I am old to rock pearls because I am classic. I will age gracefully because I won’t be all heartsick when I get 50 and gotta put the 80s gold away — unlike you.

The one who brought the rope chains back out was NAS when he was doing HipHop is Dead tour last December. So, really it was him and the RetroKidz from NYC doing it. Plus you have to look outside of the USA, like at London who has been in love with the 80’s hiphop and pay tribute to no matter if its in style or not. None of these artists are doing the real represention only NAS and the Retrokidz. Get your facts straight.
