This trend is old…cute but still old…I’m surprised CL is just now covering this one…As much as everyone loves to hate Nick Cannon hes been rockin this look for a minute…I wont venture to say who started the trend back up though…

  11. I never liked the big chains but gold hoop earrings will never go out of style for me. I always have a big ass pair of bamboo earrings for my ponytail days. Love them forever.

  12. Im more of a 70′s fashion fan as far as clothes go……but 80′s jewelry is the sh1T especially the name plated necklace……..

  13. Kuntry-N-Klassy

For some reason I love the whole 80′s look. You know they say history repeats itself!!!!!!!!!!

  22. Greatestloveofall

Never liked 80′s Gold, but at least it brings back some memories of those fly days when life was so much better, the world was happier and music was better than the trash out right now.

  23. The 80′s style is definitely back.

  24. Sizzle

I knew I was preserving my herringbone necklaces for a reason.

  25. MIMI

ARE YOU SERIOUS? THEY JUST STARTED. NICK WAS ROCKING HIS CHAIN LONG BEFORE ASANTI AND NELLY. NOT TO MENTION PHARELL, WHO’S BEEN ROCKING HIS SINCE WHEN?

  28. e-ka

Time to pull out the clear nail polish

  29. #29 uz a fool!! Yeah the chinese got the dookey ropes for the dirt. I can get 1B silky straight and a fat rope for under 50 bones!!!!!

  30. sxycarmel26

    LMAO@ 30! I know thats right! lol

  31. LMAO @ #29. You know the clear nail polish will preserve the gold from tarnishing. lol. I was just telling my girl I wanted to get an 80′s outfit. But this style is only for those you have style. You have to rock dis a certain way to pull it off.

  32. BRONX BOMBER

I think people are forgetting that missy started bringing this stuff back about 3-4 years ago.

  33. Ms. Truth

Funny I still have my gold earrings and name plate. Never let them go b/c they reminded me of Brooklyn in the 80′s. Boy you would rock your gold and hope no one stole them. Ahhh the good ole times

Remember when you had to use pay phones to call you man
When you take your car radio out of your car
when you had your crew sprayed on your shirt

  34. Ms. Truth

Remember the sherling jackets and the bubble leather jackets
    the kangol hats
    the fat laces on sneaker
    wearing 54.11 (reebok classics)

  35. Ms. Truth

oh the gold tooth (just one tooth)
    the tight lee pants
the colored guess jeans (i had red, gold, green, blue, black)

    ahhhhhhhh

  36. dj

we been wearin dat in da hood they late

  37. I ADORE Nas’s chain…….

    Ashanti rocked it well too.

  38. Damn, I must be getting old…I remember when my sister had those horrid puffy gold door knockers and was rocking the three-quarter bomber gooses. LOL. JackieNicole’s items are the ish, I have done numerous shoots with her products.

  39. jscene

That was a ugly style…that chunky look “looks” corny…i’m sorry, it’s not me at all…it’s not classy, it’s not unique, just look like a hunk of expensive garbage in your ears and/or around your neck…nope, not feeling it at all.

  40. I lurrrrrrrrve the rope chains…..Im liking everyones chains, even Ashanti’s chain and Beyonce’s Upgrade chain….Im actually liking Rihanna’s earring got to admit LMAO..

  41. Fine N mellow

Those Rope Chains are wack. Slick Rick never stopped rocking it. Love the Bamboo Earrings. Those are Timeless, but worn at the right time. LoL @ Nas Piece on his chain. I was looking for the 3 or 4 Finger Rings. LOL

  42. happyncontent

    stacy h you said it!

  43. lol

yh the rope chains look really good. ashanti rocked that look. :)

  44. Tysha Dixon

I am so feeling the gold coming back, especially, since, when it was in I was too young to afford it and now that I’m older I can.

Wooow just like a couple of years ago. YAWN

  47. Sexy Black

@ #10 Get_Me_Bodied: If you know how to wear jewelry correctly you can wear silver and gold at the same time if you wear it spraringly; actually some expensive pieces of jewelry are made with silver and gold together.

  48. Roberto

im sorry but this trend has been over for the past 8 months……let teh gold dookie chains die.

  49. Roberto

im sorry but this trend has been over for the past 8 months……let the gold dookie chains die.

  50. I’m with you #10….I hate to see people rockin gold and silver together. It really urks me! lol

  51. And why are we just now making a post about the gold trend in October 2007? I dont know where yall from but this look hit its peak in the summer…..EVERYBODY wuz rockin the gold. All this post will do is let the followers catch to the trendsetters.

  52. Buffalo Stance

Meghan Good is the only one that can pull off the 80s gold look — it’s still ugly, though!

Why did everyone have to jump on the bandwagon, though! That is what I don’t get! Why can’t folks let folks be original! I bet half these people I see on the street with this look weren’t even thinking about this 80s gold look until their favorite celebs did it. Get some originality folks — good GOSH!

  53. Buffalo Stance

#10, you sound so ignorant saying: “I HAVE ALWAYS ROCKED NOTHIN BUT REAL GOLD”

AND … you want an award for that?

That comment of yours is so 80s! Where are you from — backwoods south! I am not trying to be mean when I say that because I am from backwoods north, but at least we have the sense to know that gold (real or fake) doesn’t make a person. I hate gold unless it’s small. Big bold gold is tacky to me. Even silver in big bold styles is ugly and tacky looking. I am classic: pearl earrings (black and white ones) or no earrings!

  54. Mz Coko

I’m an 80′s baby and I wouldn’t rock this shyt..to each its own though

  55. Luther's Janitorial

Not a fan of the ropes but love the door knocker my lil daughter has had a pair for about 4 years now. If I want to wear something it aint played out I wear what I want when I want.

  56. BUT I'M SAYING THOUGH

LOL @ this being a trend. Being from Brooklyn, bamboo earrings, nameplates & the like never really went out of style. I got so tired of seeing everyone else with their nameplates and shit that I retired mine about a year or two ago.

  57. Ehh, I think I’ll pass on this trend…………

  58. yes we know it’s a trend and damn if everyone ain’t walkin’ ’round lookin’ exactly the same. I am kinda curious to see if this’ll die out anytime soon and if/when it does, what every1 will b rockin’??? Hmmmm…

    dueces :)

  59. Leonna

I only felt it when Nelly and Ashanti rocked it at her party. It was cute then. But everywhere else? Nah.
