Chris Brown needs to get his label to pick better singles for him. I read a post early about not usually commenting, and that is something I usually don’t do either, but I felt compelled to do so.

I think we tend to hold all artists to one artist and epitomize that artist as the one and only. This makes it hard at the end of the day because no matter what no artist will be equivocal to that one prototype of what we as individual listeners think is best. I mean, she may be strung out on life and other things, but at the end of the day, if we wanna make comparisons, Whitney Houston shuts down everyone in the game, including Beyonce, and that’s a fact based on fame, fortune, and numbers.

However, I like music for its individuality and its ability to keep me moving emotionally and sometimes physically. It is clear that we all have our own tastes after reading these posts because people can’t stand one or more of the above mentioned artists…Crucial!

I also want to end by saying that people are talking about Britney’s lack of talent, but of all the artists listed above, she makes more than any of them have made with possibly one album, accodring to Forbes its an estimated $737,868.00 per month. I guess she has more TALENT than we thought!

Yeah, I too am sick of people dissing Britney’s talent. Look, you can’t diss Britney if you are a Ciara OR AALIYAH fan. Let’s face it: I love Aaliyah just as much as anyone, but she was NOT known for hitting power notes, she had a meek voice too. What made her great was the fact that she knew how to use the voice she had and make great songs with it. The same goes for Britney. She’s the white Aaliyah, which is why she continues to make hits when people diss her voice. People seem to forget that, Like Aaliyah, Britney Spears was a FINALIST on Star Search. That out of the thousands of kids who tried out, she was chosen to be on the Mickey Mouse Club. Britney may not have an Aretha Franklin voice, but she KNOWS how to use the voice she has and she knows what producers and songs work best with her type of voice. That is precisely the reason why her new music is hot. She FIRED her manager and producer, nobody is picking the producers and songs for her this time. SHE’S picking the producers and songs, SHE’S writing the songs. The fact that the leaked songs are GOOD are TESTAMENT of her talent. So get over it. Britney has fans and I WILL be buying her new album because all of her new music is HOTT. Hell, BILLIE HOLIDAY is considered by most to be the greatest Jazz singer of all time, but if she were alive today you all would be saying she couldn’t sing because she had a meek voice too, and didn’t hit any power notes. Good singing isn’t about high notes, it’s about KNOWING your voice, carrying a tune, and knowing what it sounds good on. And a lot of celebrated artists can’t even do that (CASSIE).

And Brian, I usually agree with your music reviews, but even I think you’re being a little biased here. You’re trying to make it seem like Britney exploits black talent, when really even PHARELL will say that Britney was one of the FIRST big artists to feature the Neptunes on their albums, and she also worked with the Ying Yang Twins. Not only that, but for her FIRST album she worked with BLACK choreographers and dancers, and she didn’t just use them and hide them in the shadows, she FEATURED them in her tours and and music videos. Britney Spears has not exploited black talent, she’s celebrated it, so there’s really no reason to hate on her for that. Also, I don’t think her album title has been made official yet, as I’ve seen everything from “Blackout”, to “The Original Doll”, and even “Skanky Hoe” announced as her “official album title”.

The video has already been filmed for this chris brown song….The life of his new album will be very short because he will have 3 singles/videos by the time his album comes out…and i’m sure Jive records won’t be dishing out much more money on the promotion of this project singlewise

@88 You articulated everything I wanted to say perfectly. The Aaliyah comparison is dead on in my opinion-and I LOVED her dearly too, so I wouldn’t just throw that out there if I did not fully agree.
God purposefully did not give everyone arena-sized voices (and thank goodness, cause that type of voice does not suit every type of song), so it is an insult to the gifts he has bestowed upon certain people to dismiss their talents just b/c they are not equivocal in every way to the talents of others’.
Britney has captured the world’s attention, completely and without pause, for almost a decade…that’s something NO other mainstream pop celeb can say. The bottom line is people can try and say she doesn’t have “talent”, but no one can deny she has a gift.
