Free feat. Faith Evans – Dilemma (full) – listen
Remember when people were really excited about Free having a music career? And it sort of just seemed like after 106 & Park, Free just disappeared. The thing is, I think that she is talented, but I don’t know if it’s too late for her. Not only that, but I think the song is a little dated. Faith’s voice sounds beautiful, though. I’ve always loved Faith’s voice, and I think she just adds a raw soul to whatever she gets on. If this is how Free is coming out, I think she needs to hit the drawing board again, ’cause this isn’t a good look for now.
Chingy feat. Amerie – Fly Like Me (full) – listen
Chingy’s new single. Although I’m not a huge fan of Chingy, I can definitely see the appeal on the song. What I want to comment on is the fact that Amerie is on the hook. She sounds good on the song, and I don’t see why her label didn’t take this direction with her in the first place, in order to get some buzz about her. Because with the lackluster singles she put out, you would think that they would throw her on some hooks so that people can remember her and let them get used to her voice again. I can definitely see myself listening to this song in the car, though. It just sounds like a fun songs, the production’s tight.
The Dream – Ditch That (full) – listen
Hmmmm. The Dream’s material is slowly leaking, and of course, “Shawty Is A 10″ is definitely always a fun song in the club, I was digging “Falsetto,” but I don’t know about “Ditch That.” I think it’s something different from his other material, but I don’t know – it’s a little awkward. I feel like I need to listen to it a couple more times. One thing is for sure, Dream needs to keep that “eh” under control! I don’t want it to get old – and I feel like it’s well on it’s way to get their before the album even drops.
Jay-Z feat. Ice Cube & Andre 3000 – 30 Something (Remix) (full) – listen
This is one of those songs that I really liked from Jay-Z’s Kingdom Come. I really thought there would be more singles from that since that album was in such heavy rotation from everyone. However, this new remix is out, which is strange because now Jay-Z’s about to release this new album, American Gangster. Seems like they’re just a couple months late! But of course, I love the additions from Ice Cube and Andre 3000.

The Dream makes good music to me, and he’s been doing the Eh all his career with the writing so it’s not something that will be dated…and I don’t get you sometimes Brian…i think the Free & Faith song has alot of potential especially for urban/r&b radio and it actually has a meaning…we face dilemma’s all the time in life, and we want to be with someone but we’re not sure…as soon as someone has a song with a meaning, you don’t like it but yet your always saying that these other songs have no meaning…PLEASE GET IT TOGETHER ASAP…i still love you, and your reviews!!! Jay-Z’s song is tight. I agree with you – Kingdom Come was tight, but when you let the youngin’s control the music, that’s what happens. Adults need to take back control and only play what they want. If they want those 1 hit wonders, let them download it or get it however, but it shouldn’t be on radio rotations – HEAVY. Can’t wait for AG – everything’s been tight on that so far too.
And I agree Amerie’s music is different on a R&B level I think that’s is why many feel like it’s not good music.

Amerie’s music isn’t strictly R&B, though. It’s a mixture of a lot of things, but it’s mostly pop with some R&B. I can do a lot of things with her voice and still sound good.
I guess, though…that would explain why she isn’t very popular on this site, though.

I love Amerie. I think she is one of the most underrated artists of today! Yes she experiments, yes alot of her stuff is quite different but Ameries last album Touch is somethin i can play front to back.People are too quick to turn down different types of music but if you give some of her stuff a chance you will probably end up liking it. I dont too much care for Chingy or his voice..Im pretty sure that this song will have to grow on me but dont underestimate Ameries talent. Shes a great writer, performer and shes different from all of the other r&b artists.
