Bryant Purvis and Carwin Jones of The ‘Jena 6′ were presenters at BET’s 2nd Annual Hip-Hop Awards over the weekend. Word is they spoke a little bit about the case before presenting the award for best Best Hip Hop Video. Make sure you check for the show when it airs on October 17th.

‘WHY DID I GET MARRIED’ IS #1

Tyler Perry’s newest movie ‘Why Did I Get Married’ took the number one spot at the Box Office this weekend with a reported 21.5 million in ticket sales. I didn’t get a chance to view it yet, but everyone is telling me it’s good. Did you see it?

RIHANNA GOT A NEW TAT

( Photos: Splash News )

According to Faded Youth, Rihanna got a new tattoo over the weekend. The singer was spotted leaving a tattoo parlor with one of her bodyguards on Friday. Above are some shots of her on Saturday in New York walking her puppy and a guitar tattoo can be seen. Not sure if it’s legit, but I do know I can draw better than that!!

NAS’ NEW ALBUM ENTITLED ‘NIGGA’

nas1.jpg

On Friday night at New York’s Roseland Ballroom, Nas announced the title of his next album: He said it will be called “Nigga” and released in December. A source close to the project confirmed the name on Saturday.

Nas has said he’d planned to use that title for his last LP before he changed it to Hip-Hop Is Dead. [ READ MORE ]

I have a question for Nas…If a white person goes to buy the cd, is it ok can for them to say to a back clerk…”CAN I GET THAT NAS CD…NIGGA??” LOL…i thought Nas was to intellectually for the coonin and the stunts.

BTW. Tyler Perrys new movie is great!!

  2. simone

WDIGM is now one of my favorite movies ever!!! i saw the movie twice (w/ my man then mom) and i cannot wait until the DVD comes out! this movie was entertaining from beginning to end…there was no boring spot. tasha smith is a trip…i loved her in the movie. she’s a really good because she gets into character very well. i HATED her character in Daddy’s Little Girls. i’m very proud of Tyler Perry. it’s good to have movies out there that men and women can enjoy. whoever does the casting has wonderful taste in men cuz there’s always eye candy in his movies!!!

  3. just saying

The movie was GREAT!!! I would see it again.

    Nas, why?

  4. Ciara Is The BEST and "The Queen Of R&B"

I agree Rihanna is a LAME and if thats a real tat ten its horrible like her live performances, record sales, her music sometimes, and her voice and dance skills and videos so yea I think that she needs to sit down and the rest who really cares

  5. T-Willz

By your name alone you are as smart as a bag of rocks!

Ciara is the Quen of R&B…….Itch Please! Mary J maybe, Whitney when she ain’t crazy…..Fantasia is the Future of Soul and R&B…..Ciara’s ass is just a Black Pop Star like Beyonce…..just cuz they black don’t mean they Soul or R&B! The Rihanna thing…She is doin her and doin it well! So please hate on her!
P.S. If Ciara couldn’t dance she wouldn’t be shit..just another Aaliyah wanna be Who can’t sing! Sh can’t sing live you do know this talkin bout Rihanna…shoot Rihanna sounds better live than Ciara. Yet she still ain’t in the running for Queen of R&B title either!

  6. ThinkAboutIt

The movie was definitely on point – I think his best yet, and Tasha Smith was excellent in her role.

Why are the brothers from Jena 6 on the red carpet at the Hip Hop awards? This is not a good look, for a lot of reasons.

  7. Sade-Nothing Can Come Between Us

All I can say is, Im still down with Jena 6. I have written a million essays and had some real heated arguements of why I dig what these boys did. I been following them since this past summer. I refuse to go there seeing that I cant muster up the energy.

Sexy Black, girl dont debate with these fools. Let them face such a situation, lets see if there asses will be talking the same ish then. Then if they do, whheeewwww… please dont let them ask for the help or support of us black people you know especially if they up against the racist caucasians that will pull all the stops and works into making sure there asses go down.

AAANNNND Foxy380, girl you funny as hell. I dig you though. Some black people cant understand situations until they actually face them.

I stand corrected — I read some more detail on their appearance and participation – I better understand….

  9. EDJ1980

There has to be a reason Nas chose this name, I’m waiting for him to break it down

  10. where the hell ya'll see the Jena 6 boys???

That’s Neyo and R. Kelly. Or am i buggin??

  11. REALLY JENA 6?

I DON’T LIKE THESE JENA 6 BOYS GOING TO THE HIP HOP AWARDS AND THROWING UP “6″ LIKE IT’S A GANG SIGN OR SOMETHING!!! I’m very well aware of the situation and i believe that they are mychal bell and the rest of them are being unfairly punished but those boys being at the show and taking pictures like that takes away from everything that sharpton, jesse jackson, and tom joyner as well as everybody that’s been supporting them. i understand they were there to present an award and talk briefly about the situation but if BET wanted them to do this then they need to give 30 minutes slot on there to talk about it, not have them up at the BET Hip Hop Awards that T.I was supposed to perform but got arrested for trying to “allegedly” buy illegal firearms. This is just not a good look, but I guess this is how the CURRENT Hip Hop generation is going to represent black people and mind you i’m only 25. just shaking my head at this bullsh1t right here.

Ok so what we are saying is Michael has anger issue so it is ok for him to just jump on anybody he pleases. His own coach said he had nothing to do with it until he put himself in it. Yea that’s real noble and civilrights like. And YES it is right. He and his buddies jumped on this white boy because he was talking. The Barn party was the the black boys fault. They were not invited to that party and were asked to leave. Did they leave private property? No they did not. After that they left and got into another fight (two different events). And why didnt he go to the ER when he was hit with the bottle. The Grown White man to a plea, which they tried to offer Michael and his crew, but they wanted to fight the good fight. GET THE STORY RIGHT. None of these events had anything to do with the boy they jumped on. And answer me this, WHY IN THE HELL DIDNT ANY OF THE BLACK FOLKS SHOW UP FOR JURY DUTY. THEY KNEW WHAT WAS UP, BUT i GUESS THAT WAS THE WHITE MANS FAULT TOO. Please send me the link to where it reads that Justin Barker brought a gun to the school. Hadn’t read that ANYWHERE. Please inform me. I like to know all the facts. BUT AS I ALWAYS SAY BETTER HOME TRAINING COULD HAVE STOPPED ALL THIS.

  13. This ain't NAS

This isn’t a painting in some gallery or an intellectually stimulating book. This is an album that better be extremely political and completely non-commercial; if not it’s sad, stupid and ironically miseducated. I’m 33, Male, of African decent, immersed & raised in hip hop culture. I respect the creative rights of any artist but if this is publicity at the expense of a younger generation who could benefit from a different message, I’m done with NAS. While he can call his album what he likes, I hope younger hip hop fans continue voicing their concerns. Additionally, I hope he doesn’t see this as some “consciences” empowering sh*t. This may be worse than calling yourself Escobar, or better yet any of those Italian mob luminaries. I hope most of you know what they think of us; if not just listen to some of the morning radio shows. I heard some very interesting comments about Denzel Washington’s upcoming “American Gangster”.

One would think that as our more polished rappers mature the content and lyrics would also mature and topics would continue to expand. I’m not sure what the content on this album will be, perhaps it’s a slave narrative…surely it must be. If not, in my opinion the title is a deliberate slap in the face of our elders. Many of whom have previously voiced their concerns about using words that defamed our ancestors for financial gain. It also defames those who died during slavery and more recently during the civil rights movement; too often to the chat of “N*gger”. While many of us may use this word in our inner circles and some may still use in songs; congratulations NAS you trumped us all. Spell it however you choose but don’t forget our elders and ancestors; cause as you may have noticed it appears to be open season in 2007(Vick, M. Jones, Bonds, OJ again, T.I….) stay tuned, the list seems to be expanding everyday.

This only proves that in hip hop the cream doesn’t necessarily rise but sh*t certainly floats. So go ahead call it “Nigga” and empower us all by giving us the freedom to walk in Best Buy and ask the teller for the new NAS album to which she can reply “What Nigga?”

The Black race can’t afford you no more!

    No Love

  14. Honeydip

The movie was very good. This is Tyler’s best movie to date. This Christmas, another movie that’s coming out looks like it will also be a must see. If you haven’t Why Did I Get Married, go see it, you definitely will not be disappointed.

  15. Honeydip

NAS is a disgrace to his race. It’s like he’s doing all this for publicity and to sell records. First, Hip Hop is Dead, and now this. He and his wife need to step their games up or just retire already…start a family. This is ridiculous. I hope it’s not true.

  16. umi

Ok, those Jena 6 boys are really HOTT!!!! Damn, didn’t even realize until now!LOL… I’m so ever Rihanna, white-washed *beep*, get your shit straight!!! I ain’t never heard an album title like that before, now ya know that’ll be “parental advisory”!LOL

  17. Sexy Black

I hope that “JA” is reading this she asked for information about Justin Barker (the “White” Boy that was allegedly jumped by the 6 boys from Jena) bringing a loaded gun on school property and not being charged. http://www.thetowntalk.co...D=/99999999/NEWS/70916031

For those of you that had problems with two of The Jena 6 Boys being at The BET Hip-hop awards; I live in Houston, TX and our Hip-Hop radio station 97.9 The Box interviewed them briefly about their appearance and they said that they accepted BET’s invitation because it gave them another opportunity to shed light on what was going on in their case and they also wanted to say thanks to all of the people that supported them (in a mass form) for all of their support.

SO ALL OF YOU THAT WERE DOWNING THEM SHOULD FEEL SILLY BECAUSE THEY WERE JUST TRYING TO SAY THANK YOU!!!

  18. MonaAQ

wat the hell was Rihanna thinkn gettn that ugly tattoo??..her dog is sooo cutee…

  19. It seems like my comment is in moderation b/c it hasn’t posted yet. Oh well. I ain’t typing all that over.

    @ sexyblack

I read that website and I went on to find the newspaper story. I have a problem. The gun was in his car. Not in the school as so many blogs that I saw this on would have you believe. He went to jail just like the jena 6 boys, he didnt try to claim the beat down made him bring the gun to school. His mommy kept her ass off the TV cause she already know her son was wrong. But not us black people. We cant ever say we messed up or maybe we shouldn’t have done that. Thats the difference. And I’m willing to bet money that white boy was bringing that gun to school before this happen, just like those boys been jumping people long before we even thought about the tree. Dont get me wrong I do think that hanging the nooses was in itself a race related act, but the fight has nothing to do with that act. Bottem line They Were Wrong for Jumping This Boy. What could they possibly tell anybody about that. What are they bringing light to. The Jessie said, There’s a Jena in every state. We have that in Dallas, Tx but we are not down here jumping on white folks cause we angry. That’s foolishness. Paris, Texas Jasper, Texas. You people needed to learn to fight with your knowledege and not your hands. Peace people Peace

that tatoo is ugly not feminine at all!!!!!!!!

Jena 6: There is so much controversy over whether these dudes should have been on BET handing out awards. I say so the fuck what. If Louisiana dumb ass justice system wasn’t on straight bull, they wouldn’t be so damn famous. I hope they blow up from this and get hella rich! Ha! Shid, why not?

Tyler Perry: #1, Duh! It’s Tyler Perry talented ass, what you thought??? He should do a movie on the Jena 6 events.

    Rihanna: Who the fuck cares?

NAS: My nigga! lol! I will be coping the album and blasting it in my Charger with the windows dooooooooooooown!
