(UPDATED) T.I. RELEASED ON 3 MILLION DOLLAR BOND
Friday, October 26, 2007

A federal judge ordered rapper T.I. released on $3 million bond today, but he must remain in home confinement while he awaits trial on weapons charges. U.S. Magistrate Judge Alan Baverman said the singer must remain under house arrest at a home in Henry County. He wasn’t more specific about the location.
T.I. (real name: Clifford Harris) will be monitored 24 hours a day by a private monitoring service that he must pay for. He’s restricted to the home except under certain circumstances, including medical appointments and court appearances. He cannot own any firearms and cannot have contact with any witnesses or informants in the case.
Noting that T.I has a team of highly qualified attorneys, the judge said: “You shouldn’t do anything that will undermine their ability to represent you.” Defense lawyer Ed Garland argued that based on the amount of money being put up, there’s no reason not to release his client.

You guys his bond was 3MIL. He only had to pay 10% of that to get out, which is $300K.
FYI: You are responsble for the full amount of the bail.Those who are not able to come up with the funds usually acquire the services of a bailbondsman who charges them 10% - 20 % of the fee(usually non-refundable) in return for him/her guaranteeing the bond:
I made a post earlier that TI’s bond amounted to cruel and unusual punishment(see below). I am still not convinced that were it not TI the bond would have been this excessive. Another thing not much mentioned - this case is reported as a sting by the Feds. Not too aware of the roles of the participants.
The Eighth Amendment to the U. S. Constitution requires that bail not be excessive. This means that bail should not be used to raise money for the government or to punish a person for being suspected of committing a crime. The purpose of bail is to give an arrested person her freedom until she is convicted of a crime, and the amount of bail must be no more than is reasonably necessary to keep her from fleeing before a case is over.
Some judges set a high bail in particular types of cases (such as those involving drug sales or rape) to keep a suspect in jail until the trial is over. Although bail set for this purpose — called preventative detention — is thought by some to violate the Constitution, this practice has continued in many courts.

I don’t like to see anyone go to prison. Jail is not a wonderful place to be. However, if he did what the press is reporting then he better have damn good lawyers T.I. or he’s going away for a long time.
Why in the world would any rich black man like T.I. want to be caught in that kind of mess?! Perhaps, his upbring or the people he chose as friends helped to ruin his future. Black people with money or without need to chose better friends and lifestyles! Because the thug life is not for everyone!

OMG…#43 I can’t even remember what the hell I was gonna type!!! I’m too busy LMFAO at your comment…maybe it was her son’s van and she just had to borrow it!!! LOL!!!
Anyways, I think we have all established TI made some BEYOND fycked up choices as far as this situation is concerned…BUT I am glad he is out. TI has children and this whole incident has to be “devastating” to them. Its not their fault that Daddy did something stupid…and he OWES them the right to ask as many questions, cry as many tears, and get as many hugs or kisses from their father right now.
If we are dissappointed in TI just imagine how his Momma, Grandmother and his children feel…this is a very emotional time for them. I just think he needs to prepare them for the possibility that he could spend 10 years in jail…they need him right now and vice versa.
Don’t get it twisted what he did was dead-ass wrong…however, many of us are forgetting he is just a human and he can succumb to bullshyt just like anyone else.
We talking about I can’t believe he did this…or I can’t believe he did that…why? If you wouldn’t put shyt pass Ray-Ray down the street…what makes TI so different? Just because he is your favorite rapper? Please…c’mon now. A human is a human…end of story.

I believe that through this all T.I. will rise….This is just another obstacle that he has to go through…and HE WILL go right through it and come out on top. T.I.’s future is so bright that I have to wear shades. This incident will only take him to higher level. And so it is.
T.I. 4 EVER…….

T.I. had to have 2 million in cash. They were cashier checks. Not 10%. He was in the Atlanta Federal Pen. They put him in federal custody. Typically they will keep you in county or city jail until after trial. He may really want to make that circle of folk so small til it’s just his Mom,Tiny,lawyers. Remember also there are two sides to every case. He has great representation as far as his legal team is concerned.

@ 7
His Bail is set high #1 because Tip’s lawyers (((on his behalf proposed))) (keyword: proposed not the judge) the $3 Mil plus extra conditions to keep him outta of jail. The judge is left in his discretion (behind the scenes) to look the other way. It happens in all high profile cases I’m certain. Typically, had it been some Joe Schmoe it would have been a longshot for him to get outta jail, where especially having 7 convictions from a past like Tip’s). So, don’t ever think for a moment celebrity doesn’t holdup in this case because it does. Money speaks volumes!!! and; #2 Tip is nowhere near broke and will never be broke…Tip said to his lawyers from day 1 “whatever it takes get me out” and “I don’t care how much it is do your job” and it worked $3 Mil did the job not his lawyers.
@22
I’m curious how you know the case has holes??? Anyway you slice it the man still had guns in his felon(y) possession. He got caught. So how are there holes? He stands to be put away for a min. What don’t the public know - hell that’s what I wanna know?
@87
LMAO
@91
Yep. I’m waiting on that next photo op with him and Tiny buggin out at some club. Hell somehow I think this case is going to disappear down the line, but then again I could be wrong this is a strange case for a man like him to have millions…but then again I look at Michael Vick

People act like gun crime doesn’t rip apart our communities. TI was buying a gun with a SILENCER people…. he wasn’t buying that for self defence, he was buying that to use on somebody so that somebody else’s mother and father, or child, wife or girlfriend will be grieving over a loved one.. TI didn’t get caught doing a noble crime, he got caught doing ignorant shit… shit that in the bigger picture leaves our community in a worse situation than it already is…
TI can’t love his children.. If he did he’d love them enough not to be doing bullshit that would possibly end up with him being taken away from them. When you love your children they come first, not ignorant street shit that risks not only your freedom, but risks their upbringing too.
In America yes, the legal system is unfairly balanced racially, but this is not a race issue. If you want to make a campaign against the problems in the legal system, don’t be complaining about cases like this. because TI deserves what he gets.

Who f*cking cares what the bond would have been if he was white? That man, regardless of his race, had 7 felony convictions. OH YES, black people are treated more harshly? WELL THEN HOW LONG ARE YALL IDIOTS GOING TO KEEP FALLING FOR THIS BULLSHIT, WHEN YOU ALREADY KNOW THE CONSEQUENCES? Doesn’t that make you look even DUMBER? Let’s keep it real, if you already know the fire will burn your hand if you put it in it, WHY IN THE HELL would you put your hand in it? If you already know your black ass will be treated worse for certain situations, WHY IN THE HELL do you put yourself in THEM STUPID ASS SITUATIONS? Some situations are beyond our control (police brutality, hate crimes), but when it comes to situations that YOU CHOOSE to put yourself in, you get no sympathy.
He WILL be locked up and I won’t feel bad for him. People and those teens taking those idiots for heroes need to see there’s NOTHING glamorous about that kind of life, no matter how hard they are in videos. It’s so shameful coming from a grown man and FATHER!

first of all i would like to thank those of you who think T I is wrong because you`re absolutely right…..what part of “i`m a 7 times convicted felon“ didnt that fool understand? what? did he think buying guns with the criminal record he has was going to let him go free? yes, this is america and racism is still very much alive but what that idiot has done is putting himself in the mouth of the wolf( white racism) and right now i dont even think race will play any factor in his trial because he broke the law and needs to be punished accordingly
i`m sorry but having all those qualified attorneys will not prevent him from going to jail

.how can you call him a free man ? huh ? when he got more restrictions than inmates them damn self ? the man is as good as in jail. i knew his hood mentality was going to catch up with him one of these days. its not even about the system trying to bring a black man down. its about whats right and wrong. where was he going with all them damn guns ? to start world war four or something (you know we in world war three) –he was seriously on another level. and some of yaull talking about who and who not to trust ? are yaull like serious? its like yaull saying its good to have a million and one guns stored away to the point where he has them locked in a safe that can only be opened with his fingerprints… (shakes head) t.i.p harris was on another level. the bandwagon thats following him talking about free t.i is some damn idiots if you ask me. half these heifers don’t even know the charges he’s on.EDUCATION GOES ALONG WAY YOU IMBECILES. he’s going to need more than GOD to get him out of this bind.i
and this whole his kids thing..think about the kids. OH MY WORD. thats some b.s. where were they when he was partying up in atlanta with lil wayne and what not ? why wasn’t tiny and t.i thinking about them when they all over the partying up a storm ? why think about them when your in such a bind now ? –see people don’t realize what the hell they have `till its gone and thats the problem.
t.i.p/t.i whatever you going by these days… i pray that GOD will bestow you with some sense cause apparently you lacking in that department.dream team or no dream team unless they have enough charges on you to screw you for a LIFE TIME. you better pray the judge have some sympathy or something like that.
last but not least how the hell you he managed to get shaped up ?( (lol) this remind me of when he got PUNKD` by Asthon how he was crying like a mofo…oh ain’t that bitch ? (shakes head) perhaps t.i should call Asthon up maybe he the one who spilled the beans. —the man is screwed.

@122 I’m sorry i honestly do not know much about TI, i don’t know that i’ve heard any of his songs, what i have heard from or about him has been interviews where he has usually sounded like he had common sense, I’ve never hated on him, I’ve never known him to be very successful or not. But i am disappointed, and i don’t believe black people should have to be burdened with sticking up for people who are just plain wrong just because we share the same race. As i said before there was nothing right in what TI did, silencers please… thats not self defence. I dont want people like TI getting bond quickly… i dont think just because Eminem in the same situation would get his bond in supposedly one day as you suggest should make TI get his quicker, it just means that somebody like Eminem should take longer to get his…
This is not the case to be lobbying Washington over injustice in the legal system, not when you’ve got legit cases like Jena 6 or the little boy that was imprisoned for having oral sex with a 15yr old white girl. Or the teenaged girl who was accused of shoving a teenager and they wanted to put her away for a long time.

yeah I have to agree…I don’t feel that it is about the white man bringing TI down this time.
If it is stipulated that he cannot have a firearm as a felon-he can’t have one-simple as that.
It is not so much as race as it is with class…most of us who were charged with these offense would still be stewing in jail.
As keep in mind that this is not state jurisdiction, this is federal jurisdiction and judges have complete discretion to determine bail guidelines.

Saturday, October 27, 2007 /
@#72 I totally agree about the BET summitt about Hip Hop, and when Nelly and TI both were disrespectful to the lady from ESSENCE you should have heard me praying and I said then Lord these young folk need to learn a lesson they don’t have no respect for their mamas or anyone else. Master P was the only on wirh any sense or respect.. Even whe they spoke before congress Master P said he had mama and sisters and these young folk embracing this man like he was not right in the eyes of God he was wrong and I guess theya re going to call the Lord a lie and He said whatsover a man sows he reaps and the law is for lawbreakers to protect the people. TI was planning to do something and the bodyguard probably knew what the deal was and he probably saved someones life maybe TI’s or others and another thing my son works for the Secret Service and he siad Mom I guarantee you they have watched him for long time and they have every duck in a row and that was a sting to stop something major TI and his crew had planned to go down.
So you smart young folk keep talking what you don’t know. The Feds don’t loose too many cases when it comes to weapons and drugs charges because they are two of the most dangerous things to our society and my son said from his sources maybe TI will get clean from drugs at this time of house arrest,as well as Tiny. he said most of the time drugs and guns go hand and hand and Ti was in some debt can you believe that, I can why would his associates have to put up bonds when it is reported he made $16 million last year.

For all the people that are using race as an excuse, please stop making the rest of the black race sound and look ignorant. The law forbids him from owning a fire arm and he had loads and was still buying more. As long as they were his and he bought them, he broke the law and will face the consequences. Sorry #46, he had to put up property that is valued at $3million dollars and signed a judgement of confession which means if he does not appear in court, flee the jurisdiction, a minute late for court, the feds will take his property without a hearing. Feds are all about getting money and or property in the end, so you don’t pay a percentage like you would in state court. Secondly, not only does he have to pay for his home security, but he has to pay for the monitoring device and probation supervision as well. Lastly, in the end his legal fees are going to be around $3million if he is going to beat this case and this case is beatable, especially if you have the paper, ask Irv Gotti.

The ATF basically used him to get 3 mil. Hopefully, his trial will go alright since he already had to pay 3 mil and you know he is not getting his bail money back!

everybody needs to read this. I dont blame t.i. for having guns cause as much shit he talks i too would of took the chance of getting put in jail than 6 feet deep. At the same time look at all the money this man will have to spend at the end of the day cause T.I. and rappers need to be more smarter. I know t.i. bodyguard snitch and thats fuckin bad for the game but with all the money t.i. has and will loose over this plus time if he is found guilty the man could of got well respected bodyguard to carry what ever gun he needed and be by his side 24 hours……….His snitch body guard got a gun charge and turn informant on t.i. but come tip how you gona have a body guard that cant carry a gun….this EFFFin Ga. they give out gun permits like library cards down here….shame on you T.I. for picking him as you bodyguard!

The problem is not the 3 million dollars, HOW MANY TIMES WILL WE HAVE TO LEARN THE HARD WAY? He has a family to take care of, he has money, he’s out the hood, so what’s wrong with him? Hadn’t he put himself in this situation in the first place he wouldn’t have to spend so much, there would have been NO snitching bodyguard, he wouldn’t be a statistic making us look bad again, his family wouldn’t have to deal with all this stress….. etc. Black people kill me. “YOU” give them an opportunity to bring you down, then blame everyone but yourself. And frankly, when you stop living by the gun, it isn’t just about “avoiding the man’s plan”, it’s about healing the community first and foremost. The bodyguard? Maybe he told T.I. long before snitching that it wasn’t right and because T.I. didn’t listen, his conscience led him to snitch? Do you realize that someone could have been KILLED?? Maybe that bodyguard has a family to take care of, ever thought of that? That’s one less black man/brother/cousin/son/friend/probably husband/probably father BEHIND BARS!!!

You’re right number 10, It’s not fair that TI has to pay 3 Million in bail money, BECAUSE ANYBODY ELSE’S ASS WOULD STILL BE SITTING IN JAIL. Usually people don’t even have the option of getting bail after 2 convictions, this dumb ass is working on #8 as we speak. 3 Million is more than reasonable because A) He’s a flight risk and has more than enough resources to disappear, and B) He’s a 7 time loser, who has a lot to lose.

It’s sad that blacks don’t defend blacks. We look at each other as inferior and it’s depressing. Yeah, so and so might have made a bad decision. But don’t throw the person under the bus and judge him. We still have to support each other and stick together to progress as people. As a young black male, I run a very successful business in Atlanta and ironically 95% of my corporate clients are white (the 5% black clients rarely try to help generate new referrals). Believe it or not, I’ve heard more old white men support T.I. then you people in this blog. There are a few things to analyze here:
1) No one knows ALL the facts in this case (including his attorneys yet); don’t be media whores.
2) Not many people have the type of money and fame that T.I. has….so understanding why he feels the need to have guns is beyond your reality
3) Guilt or innocence is not the burden of proof in the court of law….it’s reasonable doubt from a jury
4) $3M is just a bond/bail….he will get it back regardless and that’s only probably 8% of his income from 06’ and the money will probably double has his legal defense fund.
It’s funny because when we (blacks) try to use the law to our advantage…..we criticize each other and judge. Here are a few defenses for T.I.’s reasonable doubt:
1) Gave bodyguard money to purchase guns to protect him and the bodyguard decided NOT to legally register them
2) The house where the weapons were is NOT his primary residence (plus he is on the road 80% of the year)
3) Guns were in house for the bodyguard to protect his family while T.I. is on the road
4) T.I. wanted to see exactly what type of firearms his bodyguard was purchasing to protect his life
5) Well….the bodyguards credibility is in question (if he is the superstar witness….then I hope he has been walking a very narrow line throughout his life)
6) T.I. is unlike any other 7 time felon…in that he has legitimate threats on his life everyday and is a multi-millionaire.
7) And the list goes on and on……………
I’m not saying I condone or condemn the behavior I’m just saying it’s in the hands of the court of law, not public opinion. And now WE should play by the rules of the court…like WHITE people do every time this occurs. Don’t be media whores and react off press clipping…..listen clearly to ALL the facts and play in the right court. And you people arguing if something is fair….you are crazy. The legal system IS NOT FAIR and now that a black man is benefiting you come crying that bullshit. Who said the US was designed to be fair?

@144
the best thing you can do is to pay some visits to your boy TI when he hits the jail because what you`re saying is pure garbage, he had a bodyguard who himself wasnt allowed to carry guns, dont you get that? fool ! yeah your clients are whites well its simple stick with your clients and stop saying black people are wrong because they`re supporting justice, the notion that we have to be suportive of any black person regardless of what he/she has done is so primitive reasoning but then again why am i not surprised? is the only multi millionaire in this country? if he received threats to his life or any other relative why didnt he report that to law enforcement authorities? instead of acting like modern day robin hood? did the house belong to him or not? well i guess you know the answer prmiary residence or not the house was his…ask mike vick!
just chill..homie this brother got to pay for being so dumb, thats what happens when idiots drop out of high school
SENT TI TO JAIL ASAP!

#144 and he could also say the silencers were free. Buy 1 machine gun, get 2 silencers free, how could he turn that down?..I’m sure TI could use that one too.
