Usher, 29, and wife Tameka Foster, 37, gave their first interview to U.S. magazine Essence about their emotional year – and how it has brought them closer. They insist they are amazed at the public interest in their wedding, surrounded by rumors of feuds with the star’s mother and with the wedding initially mysteriously scrapped with just hours to go. But they insist they are closer than ever – especially now Tameka is expecting their first child together.
“Tameka’s given me one of the greatest gifts I’ll ever have,” Usher says. “With a child, now I have purpose. I understand love. “I’ve grown in every aspect of my life. And Tameka is the woman who helped get me to that place.”
He added: “I was determined to find the right woman… I just didn’t know she was standing in front of me the whole time.” He adds: “God says the role of the husband is to protect his wife,” he said. “I hope people realize that my son is my son, and my wife is my wife. “And when someone has an issue with them, they have an issue with me.” He admits that their relationship has run a strange course. “Ours is not a typical love story,” Usher conceded. “But it is a true one.”

He say its his job to protect his family ( namely his wife and son) which he is not doing. If he really wanted to protect them, he would stop exposing his family to the world. If he knows negative things are being said, then he shouldn’t mention it to the public at all. Stop entertaining the subject. Real love is not boisterious. It does not have to be shown off. When you cherish something, you keep it near and dear to you. You don’t put your business out in the street. Everytime he opens his mouth about his personal life, he does more harm then good. That does not demonstrate a good man to me. That’s being selfish and inconsiderate
While Usher is busy quoting bible scriptures, he must of just totally forgot this one: Exodus 20:12 Honour thy Mother and Father that thy day may be long upon the land, which the lord thy God giveth thee
Now, I know he said that his father was not there for him like he should have been, but his mother was. His mother made sacrafises so that he could be where he is today. How can he just stand by and allow his wife to disrepect his mother? He’s dead wrong for that.God doesn’t honour that at all. I understand he wanted to do right thing with marrying the mother of his child but, now he knows that there is no respect there between his mother and his wife and he won’t stand up and do anything about it. That’s not a real man. Don’t just make it right on one end. Make it right on all ends.
He wasn’t so spritual when he decided to flaunt the fact that he was dating a married woman. How can you exspect people to respect you when you didn’t enter that situation right? He couldn’t even wait ’til she was divorced to start seeing her and . Then, to make it worst, he didn’t wait til that divorce was finalized to propose to her. That’s not a good man. My paternal grandmother did all she could to stop the wedding…
Eventually my maternal grandmother realised my father for the sweet loving humble dutiful man he is, who always does right by his family, and they now get on great. I dont know if my paternal grandmother ever got round to liking my mother, but she did find a grudging respect for her. The problem there was they were too alike, very strong outspoken women.. I think my grandmother’s problem was she knew she wouldn’t be able to control my father’s life anymore..
We all know that, Usher respects his mother, and that she helped him in his career, but we really don’t know what TYPE of mother she was, she may be one of those emotionally manipulative types,and maybe just maybe Usher needed somebody to stop the mother from suffocating him.

I don’t view dark-skinned woman as something to be ashamed of. You and others apparantly do by repeatedly pulling the race card to explain MANeka’s ungodlike actions. I think that people forget that when Usher dated Chili,he was in his early twenties,and she is eight years his senior.Obviously he wasn’t ready for a serious realationship like she was.That realationship is over and done with,they have both moved on.
