Check out this video of Bill Cosby on a recent episode of Meet The Press. The entertainer spoke with NBC’s Tim Russert on the reaction he received from the black community to the book he co-authored, “Come On, People” and about gangsta Rap, drugs and youth. Shout out to Real Talk NY for the video.

Okay, I will not say that I totally disagree with you. I think that most things you are saying are significant. The main thing above many about this conversation, that really urks me is this money talk. I am studying to be a Public Relations professional. Let me just say from a PRs prospective donating that money was a really great move. ALL rich people donate money to charities, which is basically the same as donating it to universities. What better move to make, not only does he get to write it off on his taxes, but it also makes us think that he cares. All I am saying is we as African Americans, have alot to work on. What is all this talk and rap bashing really doing? The white man wants to see us disagree and seperated that was his goal from the beginning. Maybe if we all ban together and go into our neighborhoods and REALLY get our hands dirty, we would give the rappers something else to rap about. Everybody wants to talk about rap music, but how quick we forget black people arent running the show behind closed doors. White people own Viacom which owns BET. White people decide what message to send the public. These rappers see rap as just another way out of the streets, supply and demand. I am not saying that cussing and saying n**** is right, but at the end of the day they have to eat too. Since we dont help each other and everyone is out for self, why shouldnt they do what they have to? I find it funny how people want to have these forums and conversations, but only want to scratch the surface.
HE IS A HYPOCRITE…PERIOD. HOW CAN HE BE CRITICAL OF BLACK PEOPLE FOR HAVING CHILDREN OUT OF WEDLOCK, WHEN HE HAS DONE THE SAME DAM THING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MR COSBY THE ONLY THING THAT SEPERATES YOU FROM US IS MONEY MY FRIEND.
LIKE SOMEONE ELSE SAID…ITS SAFE TO BE CRITICAL OF BLACK PEOPLE..BUT LET HIS ASS SAY SOMETHING ABOUT WHITE PEOPLE!
ROCK A BYE BILL!!!!!!!!
HOW CAN A MASS RAPIST COME OUT AND CRITICIZE ANYONE??? HE SHOULD BE IN JAIL INSTEAD OF OUT HERE WRITING BOOKS TO HELP PAY OFF THE JUDGMENT THAT THE WHITE WOMEN VICTIMS GOT FROM HIM. HE’S TRYING TO USE US TO PAY OFF HIS WHITE WOMEN WITH THIS GARBAGE HE SPEWS OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!
IF THE FEDS CAN FIGURE OUT A WAY TO GET OJ, THEY’LL FIGURE OUT A WAY TO GET HIS OLD AZZ TOO!
BILL COSBY is in more hot water – 11 of his alleged former mistresses have come forward with stories the comic drugged and assaulted them.
Cosby was accused of drugging and molesting basketball player ANDREA CONSTAND in January (05) and her story seems to have tweaked the memories of others the funnyman may have had sexual encounters with.
In newly filed court papers, obtained by US news show CELEBRITY JUSTICE, 11 women claim they were all either drugged or sexually assaultsby.
On 8 November 2006, the media reported that Cosby had settled a lawsuit with a woman alleging he had sexually assaulted her. The woman claimed that Cosby assaulted her at his mansion in Cheltenham in early 2004 after giving her some blue pills. The woman said the pills had rendered her semiconscious, and that the comedian molested her. She said she awoke to find her bra undone and her clothes in disarray. In and around the same time reports 12 women alleging that they were sexually assaulted by Cosby surfaced, but none of the complainants elected to proceed with criminal charges.[7]
IT IS A DAMN SHAME THE RASCIST RAISED UP THE WORST OF US TO BE THE LEADERS OF THE REST OF US. WE HAD MORALE GOOD PEOPLE TO LEAD BUT THEY RAISED THIS TRASH UP TO KEEP THE REST OF US DOWN JUST LIKE IN SLAVERY.
AND A COKE HEAD HO SHALL LEAD YOU WITH A DAMN RAPIST. HOW SICK!
. A self-described promiscuous teen who was a victim of sexual abuse, Winfrey gave birth at the age of 14, to a boy who died shortly after.[31] In 1997 a former boyfriend named Randoph Cook tried to sue Winfrey for $20 million for allegedly blocking a tell-all book where he claimed they lived together for several months in 1985 and did drugs.[32][33][34] Cook’s claims mark the second time reports surfaced about Winfrey’s involvement in a drug related love affair. In 1995 Winfrey herself confessed to drug use. “And I’ve often said over the years…in my attempts to come out and say it, I’ve said many times I did things in my 20s that I was ashamed of, I did things I felt guilty about, but that is my life’s great big secret that’s always been held over my head,” she explained on her show. “I always felt that the drug itself is not the problem but that I was addicted to the man.” She added: “I can’t think of anything I wouldn’t have done for that man.”[35]
Bill Cosby can talk all day, he needs to put his money where his mouth is, Period. My grandmother went to school (elementary) and he has always been (in her words rip, silly.) He has not done anything for North Philly but come through to Temple(that awarded him an honorary degree & subsequently destroying the community in the process.) Although he has not been at temple either since all his YT women are coming forward talking about him drugging them…The bottom line is, as I pursue my degree in Psychology, I plan/will/do contribute to my community. I look at Philadelphia and the reason the community(entire) is doing bad is because they took out all the bands, arts, extra curricular activities from the schools. There is nothing to do, and they are their own parents. Any money that Mr. Cosby could give to start a program for the children within his old neighborhood, would be great. People say crap all day about Will & Jada, but their philanthropy goes into the community, that Mr. Cosby criticizes. Do not get me confused he has contributed an important piece to African American History, by I would like him to get in touch with his Africa side. I recommended all AA find out about their African side, we have downgraded as a people. Black is still beautiful! Case in point, There are more YT women on TV rocking the Black Girl “stello” than actual AA artists. Big Earrings, Braids, this is us, and while I am quite positive that our power within America is phenomenal, those that Cosby is criticizing are not getting the message, they are too busy trying to survive. This is not the time to criticise but stick together. I was very impressed with the Jena 6 support, and I thank GOD for Bloggers, I truly do love my people, shoot I watched Sesame street everyday, so I can have love for all people, but within America, my People are my CONCERN. So in closing I ask any of you who read this to reach out to at least one kid struggling to make it because of “bad parents”, let help you do anything, the friendship and someone actually taking the time to acknowledge that they exists, can change their lives…Never forget Katrina, NEVER! If you did not know your place in the eyes of the government, you should after Katrina!

Stop Bitching and start a Revolution!!
#124 To whom are you speaking of when you make the comment we had morally good people to lead? First, one should examine history. Prostitutes became saved and helped Jesus. Second, during the Civil Rights era MLK and Malcolm X had distorted pasts (drugs, prison, adultery in marriage) that did not deter them from becoming the God-fearing leaders they became. Third, the “black leaders” of today Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, BIll, Oprah, among others all had a past and they learned from it and moved on instead of continuing the cycle (i.e. T.I)! Don’t get trapped!
In order to help someone else in the black community you need the following: God, a past struggle so that you can relate and/or empathize then share your story, money, and the will/desire to help those who can’t see outside of their environment. Be mentor’s, Be youth leaders, create committed families, teach your children about education and owning businesses/real estate to create wealth. Shut off the derogratory rap music and listen to Talib, Jill Scott, Ledisi or others who speak words of peace and love. Just stop living the stereotypes the “man” wants us to become.
Trust me when I say Bill is speaking the truth, and other cultures think the same thing about Black Americans. It is time to wake up people, and let go of the damn crab-in-a-barrel mentality!
All I have to say is in reading the comments about T.I.’s arrest, too many people were declaring “SET UP!!” and asking why the bodyguard didn’t keep his mouth shut, instead of acknowledging the foolishness of the coontabulous behavior displayed. That in itself tells me that we as a people need some readjusting and correction. All of these people trying to google up dirt on Bill Cosby, you are the ignorant ones he is talking about. Don’t be mad at the messenger. Get mad at the message and CHANGE!!!! For all of you asking “What have you done…?”…I’m an educated and productive member of society. I take care of my responsibilities. I pay my bills. I keep good credit. I worship God. And I encourage others to do the same. That’s how I give back. Like someone mentioned before, neither we nor Bill needs to create more programs for a people who won’t take advantage of the ones that we have now. Build up YOUR community. Take part in volunteer efforts. Acknowledge the problem. Be the best you that you can be. No grand gesture is needed. That’s how you give back.
Bill Cosby is WRONG to generalize… That is the major point I would like to make. When watching TV and / or listening to the major radio stations in your area; you will see and hear nothing but negative things when it comes to blacks. We put ourselves down so often. There are far more negative things to see and hear about blacks then positive. How many positive r&b, hip-hop songs do you hear on the radio? How many positive black shows do you see on TV? Then you have an educated black man who made millions off of shows black people. Now you think you can lump all poor black people in one circle??????? How about mentioning the success stories instead of focusing on the negativity?
For instance – I am a hairstylist who happens to also braid hair in Washington DC.
In 2005, I had 5 teenage boy clients graduating from high school. They all are now in colleges away from the DC area. One boy’s mom died when he was very young. His grandmother struggled to raise him. He lives in a poor community, but he is doing well in college. Another boy in a poor neighborhood is in college. He struggled to get out of high school, but made it to college. He and his girlfriend attend the same college…away from home, and he is doing well. Another one of my clients has always been an A student. He is currently on an academic scholarship, and doing well. I have a flashy dressing client that have brothers who hang out on the streets, be he is away in college and doing well…
I can give you more success stories about poor black boys and girls, but I only want to make the point that if you only show and speak on the negativity; you will never know there is a positive side.
THAT IS WHAT WHITE PEOPLE SEE WHEN VIEWING US….ONLY THE NEGATIVE! IT HAS TO STOP HERE!
Dutchess. your presentation leaves much to be desired. Your harsh tone and vulgarities have been a bit much. It seems as if you just want to point fingers at cosby. The fact is that parents, people who lay down and make a conscious decision to have children, are responsible for the upbringing of their children. Bill Cosby met his responsibility in raising his children..even one that turned out NOT to be his! He also has done OODLES for Blacks and frankly all americans. His giving back by way of encouraging us to pursue education was his way..the way in which he also directed his childre. It worked for me and I too grew up in the shadows of a crack head parent. The missing link has been my generation of whom many have chosen to stay in the club and embrace poverty and ignorance. PERSONAL PROBLEM. I saw the way the other half lived on THE COSBY SHOW and I too saw the college experience on a DIFFERENT WORLD. The bottom line is this, you can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make them drink…One man can only do so much to lead. The goal in education is to expose one to higher learning and maximize their potential. What an individual decides for themselves is their perogative and thus they must live with the consequences.
And another thing.. if donating money to a college is only a minor thing…tell UNCF and all of the HBCU and Universities in the country this seeing as how they have fundraising initiatives so intense that it has literally driven some chancellors and provosts out if they haven’t met the mark
I live in London and what Bill Cosby is saying about us as a people is reflected quite clearly here across the waters. Yes we do have many positive role models within our race however not enough to to illiminate the negative and growing trend of despair and destructive that is taken place especially amongst our youth. Why is it that we as a people are always at the bottom of the ‘human chain’. In our schools over here young black boys are the under achievers. Why. Why is it also that we have more black men occupying and seemingly taking continuous residence in ‘Her Majesty’s’ jail cells. Why is it also that we are the larger group of unwed mothers. Why is it that when my children are being taught in schools the black adult faces that they are seeing is in the canteen serving them meals. Why is it that on the buses coming home the young black boys and girls are the ones cussing, meking pure noise and behaving like dem nah being raised but being dragged up in some gutter. Why is it that for this year alone approx 20 out of the young people killed by either gun shots or stabbings has been black and gang related. Why is it that I see so many young black girls just finished school not aspiring to attend a college and seek some form of profession or career but pushing a pram, wearing the lastest garms, the nicest hairstyles, x amount of jewellery, make up etc but can just about string two words together properly. Why is it that my hand is in my mouth each day I send my son to school hoping that some fool out there aint going to want to ‘jack him up’. Why is it that the Asians, Indians, Chinese all have business whether it be the local corner stores, the take away food shops, the small retail outlets and we don’t. Why is it that we do not own conglomorants, banks, industries et etc etc. Why is it that when we do manage to maintain a business that we cannot run our businesses professionally, expand and create more opportunity. Why is it that even if we go over to the carribean the same mentally that you mention over in the states, which I mention is taking place here in England is also the norm there too. Why is it that we have to conduct ourselves in our music, our behaviour, our lifestyles in such vulgarity. The one arena which we seem to magnifest greatly in is the music and look at how we are performing, establishing within that arena. Regardless of who agrees or not .BLACK PEOPLE WE DO HAVE A PROBLEM AND WE NEED TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. It is not effective enough for one man/woman to voice an opionion and say enough of the drive by shootings, the knifings, the gangs, enough to society looking at us as if we are worthless, enough of our sons and daughters acting as if life means nothing, as if they mean nothing, living for the shit that they continually see protrayed through on some of those worthless videos, following that materialist jackasses who THEY HAVE AS THEIR ROLE MODELS because like it or not. MUSIC HAS POWER, THE ARTISTS MAKING THIS CRAP HAS POWER, why do I say this because they are the ones influening our younger generation of today. Yes the record labels, producers etc do have the clout but you know what if the musicians and the artists made a stand and said. NO MORE – I’m not singing this load of shit anymore – it is negative, I am not sending out positive messages to the people who are listening to my music and we want to make a difference -we want to be protrayed differently and we want to be a better influence to those buying into our craft please tell me WHAT CAN THEY DO.IF EVERYONE OF THE ARTIST OUT THERE COLLABORATED AND WORKED AS ONE IN AGREEMENT TO STOP MAKING THIS LEGAL MUSIC PORN, STOPPED CUSSING, STOP HYPING UP ALL OF WHAT THEY DO IN THE MANNER THAT THEY DO AT PRESENT – WHAT COULD THEIR MANAGERS, RECORD LABLES, ETC ETC ETC DO BUT CHANGE. Where is the faith within our culture gone. Where is the community, the extended family, the family, our whole structure is broken down. Nowadays people are afraid to speak to a child/teenager etc if they see them doing something wrong incase they get cussed out and thay is from the parent – back in the day the community used to keep a eye out and everyone helped to raise children – nowadays you try intervening and your lucky if you don’t get your assed whooped instead of back in the day when the child would have gotten their ass whooped for behaving out of line. Some of the language I hear coming out of these school kids mouths and I am travelling home with my two young children and me as a adult having to hear this crap and these children don’t even acknowledge that there is adults around where they should be having some manners and respect let alone young children to hear them. And they playing their musis loud on their MP3 players, or their mobile phones and don’t give a damm. I for one aint so frighten to tell the little F**K**rs to behave themselves. But you do see them pushing up their faces and looking at you like ‘yeah what’ – even the other day I had to let a young boy know that he is old enough to be my child and he best mind his attitude because I would knock one of his teeth right down his throat. I had to mek him know that if his parent was around I was certain he wouldn’t be behaving in that manner and so needs to conduct himself in the manner of which he knows his parent would be expecting. To have some self discipline and respect for himself and once he learns that, then he in turn would know how to respect others. I know I am ranting and raving and I’m sorry guys but we really have a serious epidemic going on within our black race nation and worldwide and we seriously have to start putting into place some action before this generation coming up completely destroys itself more than it is already. We need to turn to God for our source, we need to put faith back into our lives, we need to stop chasing the world’s materialism and we need to make a stand and turn our situtations around, because we are STILL ENSLAVED, we are STILL CAPTIVED, and we are STILL BOUND AND OUR SLAVE MASTER IS THE SYSTEM. God’s peace, grace and blessings be amongst you all.
What’s interesting is that people are offended by his aggressive tone; however, how often are people offended by the tones we hear everyday in society? He is being aggressive because that is how you get a response. If you have ever watched the Tupac interview about how you have to use force. Initially you start out with “May I have some food” until you get ignored enough and it becomes “GIVE ME SOME FOOD!”. That is what he is doing. I’m an educator and I’m 24 and I see African Americans not care about education at all. They know every song and every new dance but refuse to write an essay and read a book. Let me give you an example: the district I work in just recieved test scores and African American students did as well as the students with mental disabilities. Asian and white students scored around 70-80s while African American students scored around 30-40! Now you tell me something is not wrong with our Black communities.
While we are ranting, just a couple of questions:
1. Do you think that the corporations (run by white men) that control all the worlds most valuable resources (and therefore the wealth) just sit around and “hope” that every thing will be alright and they will get to keep their wealth? or do you think they are planning and putting into motion measures to make sure the maintain their wealth?
2. Do you think that it is a coincidence that there is steady stream of negative crap forced down our throat by organized (white owned) mass media. That it just happens to be wrapped in the seductive packaging of fast money with no work (rappers, ballers, video Hofessionals, “models”) and no need to go to school.
3. You do know that almost all music you hear is dictated by white owned record labels, white A&R execs, White owned distribution channels (Walmart, BestBuy, Itunes), white owned radio and video television stations? White owned magazines and newspapers. That video concepts must get the ok by white folks ( many times the directors are white). White folks decide what will and will not get promoted. Oh, and white folks control the money. with just enough black faces sprinkled in so that they can point to them if anybody says shit.
4. Isn’t funny how our public school system for the most part is shit. How they can make sure that every piece of fruit that enters this country is inspected and labeled, but they just can’t seem to control the tidal wave of crack and herion from entering our neighborhoods. (how did that shit get introduced into our neighborhoods in such volume from the other side of the fucking world…white folks ain’t have nothing to do with that right?)
5. Do you think that the current state of Black people in America is just a coincidence or do you think there was some planning and social engineering going on? (marketing is a science taught at harvard, yale and all those ivy league schools. they can market anything they want to anybody they want.)
I’m just asking.
Audrice you keep replying to my post, but are still missing my point. I apologize if you thought that my words were harsh, I am just very strong minded. I do not want to point fingers at Bill, I have just lost respect for him period. I am just sooo tired of hearing people talk all this crap but take no action. Dont get me wrong donating money to colleges is a big deal, but not that big of a deal for him to act the way he does. Like I said before we as a people have alot of problems, but all his talking isnt doing anything. You were also right when you said it starts at home we do agree on that. The thing that everyone seems to be forgetting is that everyone does not have a proper home. I know you may think that isnt your problem, but that is the problem. I come from a home that was drastically effected by the crack epidemic. Do you know how many times I have almost fell victim to the streets? The only thing that saved me, was knowing that people outside of my family cared. It wasnt there responsibilty to do anything for me, but they did. I also know many other people who were helped and encouraged by people who were not there parents. People who came from nothing and now live very productive lives. My heart goes out to everyone in the struggle because I have been there. Do you honestly think people want to sell drugs because they dont. Do you think people want to be uneducated, because they dont. People do what they have to, to survive. I just feel personally it is my responsiblity to do for others what was done for me. Bill is so out of touch with what is really going on in the community, and obviously so are you. I use to be embarrassed by my situation, but I have learned to appreciate it. How I grew up helped me to see the world for what it really is and I thank God for that, so I do not have to walk around here blind. So when I say help that is what I mean, we need love and guidance, instead of stereotyping us in front of white America. If you still disagree with me than that is your lose. Oh and before I forget, I have been called white many times, but NEVER because I wanted to study that is a load of crap. So go ahead and keep agreeing with Mr. Bill and portraying the image that blacks like being poor and uneducated. When in reality they are content because they do not know any better.
Oh and one more thing Audrice, there has been no use of curse or vulgar words in any of my post. I also find it funny how you say I am harsh, but yet you agree with Bill. I have not put anyone down I have just stated my opinion. So for you to say that my post are a bit much, I am offended. Although I should have known I would get this reaction. People are afraid to think outside the box.
Dutchess I get your point. I am not blind nor any of the other things you have said about me. If you read my post you will see that I too have grown up with an addicted parent. The point is that there is not a 1 to 1 ratio for those in need in relation to those who will help. So it has to start at home and if not with parents than extended family and thus and so. Your situation isn’t unique. and to answer your question YES there are people that want to sell drugs cause they think its cool and that it shows that they are down. That is why people including Bill take issue with the images portrayed by the media and the rappers that partake in the coonery. Without going down that road fully I will again say your story isn’t unique..trust and believe so you dont have some unique perspective that someone else doesn’t share. Solutions are what we are looking for so don’t get so offended, if you are a PR major realize that often people may not share your vision or openly agree with you, still put your best face forward. You have eluded to being under 25 and quite uninformed historically. I say that because Cos has done alot, money is only part of it but you should have looked that up before attacking so aggresively. At the end of the day if you are about helping do your thing. I mentor young kids cause they need positive role models IN ADDITION to parents. I am also the parent of three young black men in training so i am not just spouting off. I realize that it takes WORK to raise kids and INVOLVEMENT in their education. Often we’re looked at in my kids school as if they don’t expect to see us involved. There is a reason for this! But I digress. Do your thing. Stay positive and don’t let a strangers opinion stress you out. Life is too short for that
and another thing, i am a black women in america…i live outside of the box, (I have obtained 2 degrees and on my way to a third) so thinking that way is a standard
@#75 its funny how so easily you would search for negativity against this man but im sure you wouldnt put that same energy into finding out about our history or even abolitionist who set examples of struggles long ago
for example john brown. read up on his struggle that he went through to help save slaves and they treated his white behind like any slave they hung him… talk about nooses these days…5 seperate events of noose hanging within a month besides jena six.
like any person on positivity he make contributions which overshadow his faults. further more hes human and has power along with the money to make things happen. white and black people fornicate period. get over it…
his opinion are stinging hurtful and embarassing…but i am one of the men who believe in his freedom to speak to help realize problems THAT WE CAN SOLVE TOGETHER.
lastly im assuming that most of the negativity that the posters are typing out are from younger folks, teenagers to mid 20 year olds, who was raised up on dumbed down hip hop and really think a teenager singing high pitched is an entertainer (chris brown specifically). one valid point… old school hip hop heads was raised up on ghetto boys, nwa, too short, 2 live crew etc. we also had the choice of common, xclan, p.e., bdp, xclan, etc… where is your balance… where is your representation. when you watch the BET awards tomorrow they will be hailing a champion mc KRSONE. ummm who do you have to represent you… nelly…its funny nelly made the hit song air force ones…but KRSONE made 2 commercials with nike. i wonder whats real and whats fake…
@! 16 I concur. with you early comments. I want to put my piece in here. What we need is love – period. The youth appear so upset and negative. I try to give them attention and not ignore the youth. They (the youth) appear to be reaching out for attention and if they don’t get it one way they will get it another usually negatively. So take the time to hug/console/mentor
@ 73. You sound like a buppy, whatever, You all need to listen to Cosby and stop the bullshit the black family is going down the tubes, quick fast and in a hurry.
Shake down – I like that, I’m going to get a drill instructor hat and this Saturday — ON THE SHAKE DOWN AT 6:00 A.M. – OH WHAT FUN.
@ 138. I CONCUR. We wild out back in the day but we had positive messages and we had real leaders, Dr. York, the Minister, etc.
You did not offend me for disagreeing with me. I was offended because you said that I was vulgar, when I have only been stating my opinion. I know that everyone is not going to agree with me, and I respect everyone’s opinion. I also do not believe that I have a unique prospective, I am just me. Once again you say Bill has done so much, and maybe youre right. The thing is how long ago was it when Bill was doing all of this. My thing is in the 60′s and 70′s, they didnt just talk it they walked it. This is a whole new generation, and he is not in touch with it. Dont get me wrong, even though I am under 25 I still get tired of hearing the same rap. You also made a comment about me being uninformed which is totally false. Attending a HBCU has kept me very informed. I have to give it to you though, maybe I do not know all that Bill has done. However, my point still remains the same his bashing is not sending the message appropriatly. The only people who are recieving the message are people who already have that state of mind. If we want to change the way young people think this is not the way to go about doing so. Also from hearing him talk it is as though he is putting all young black people in the same box, and we are not. From your last post I see you are older, that is why you so adamantly agree with him. I always walk with my head up. I love the fact that you disagree with me, you are not the first and will not be the last. I also would like to commend you for giving back like you do we need more people like you, that is my whole point. I personally just feel like nobody who really needs it is going to grasp his message the way he is delievering it.
I love our courage, strength, COMMON SENSE, creativity, intellect, awareness, humilility, beauty, activism, and sincerity (just to state only a bit of the obvious). We may be semi products of a crack area but most importantly we products of greatness. The current projection into how we are “presented” is not a reflection of our complete story. We are decendents of the Harriet Tubmans, Frederick Douglass, Nora Hurston, Malik Shabazz, Madame Walker. King, and I include our peers that arent afraid to rep the truth. Oprah opening a GIRL SCHOOL in A-WOW, Chamillionaire, Mos, Cornell West, Dr, Dyson, Nas, KRS1, Pac, Big ya’ll know what I mean. While I acknowledge we are flawed alternativley I more importantly embrace our potential, successes, progress and genius. We really know how to READ inbetween the lines both figurativly ADn literally. My thesis: I LOVE BLACK PEOPLE
I’ve been trying to tell ya’ll since 2004 that Cosby only wants the best for us. Recognize the elder. RESPECT IS DUE.
well in Esssx a place in england wer i live most ov da white people in my skool r droppouts or wanna drop put..its da black pple(African nd carribeans) that acctually wnna learn but hey das jus wos goin on here
If Bill Cosby was speaking about positives in Black America would he get this much play? HELL NO!!
Google “Boule Society” and then see if you want to keep drinking the Kool-Aid.
he puts his message in films and other things.
He does put his message in is movies. Has been doing this for over 30 years.
Everything he is saying is true. You can sit around all day talking about his affairs but, Bill had donated millions to college scholarships and always has had a positve message in is work.
He has also gone to visit urban communities and spoke to people about how they can do better.
Some of you don’t want to hear the truth but it needs to be said. Stop blaming everything on rasicm. Of course it exsit but you can’t control other people you can control yourself.
I watched this in my African American Studies class…..I have mixed issues with Bill Cosby but not so much with him in this particular episode of Meet The Press…… the only things I didn’t so much agree with was how it seems like he thinks Rap and the culture of the sub-genre brings so many ills and troubles to the black community instead more than lack of better education and not so pristine parenting. I’ve been listening to rap since I could walk and been exposed to everything you can imagine but I was raised decent enough to not fall into the trap or images of the stuff I saw on tv or heard in the music because I knew better. He said something about women’s liberation too or w/e but I don’t exactly remember. And the part where he mentioned shakedowns well I agree with keeping up on your children and keeping a heavy and close eye on what they are into, listening to, reading that could be dangerous (depends on the parent) but shakedowns like I’m thinking of how prison guards go through the convicts sh-t lol….pretty extreme. Most of the whole episode though I was mostly shaking my head…..wasn’t bad at all……he’s definitely right at saying the revolution basically starts in the home.
@ 5 oh please yes you’re right all those black children (which I was one not too long ago) are the bane of the black community…..heartless, “immoral”, killers, umcompassionate, etc and their mamas are 27 and grammy is 42 -_-.
My mother sure wasn’t/isn’t hardworking just like my grandma. How did I ever make it through high school and into my 4th year of college?!
If Bill Cosby were 40 years younger, the white man would mark him for death. The white man will allow him to rant because he knows that the masses of people will not listen. They’ll call him an old kook and a “conspiracy theorist”, lol. Meanwhile everything that the man said, particularly pertaining to the hip hop industry and how it has affected the children is exactly on point. The only real discrepancy that I have with him is what is his ultimate goal? There will never be any real cooperative relationship between whites and blacks so what does he really hope for? It sounds like he wants to call the white man the devil but he can’t because he knows that black people are too damn simple to grasp that. He made some valid and accurate assessments on the record executives which shows that he’s smart enough to understand that you can’t blame the black man for everything. If you want to change the course of the stream, it must be diverted at the source.
I agree with everything Bill Cosby is saying, I went even further to review his first chapter on Msnbc online. He is speaking the truth. I’m from the carribean islands and consider myself american because I was here since 4years old. I’ve seen what he mentions and I think its everyone’s responsibility to take action. We should work as a family not as what America wants you to be “Self-interest”.
The older generation must claim responsibilty for the problem before young people will listen, as far as they know it’s always been this way. Black spoiltation films first glorified the n-word, pimp, & hoes. These young peple were not born yet. Hip Hop was born because of the problems that the old-gen is complaining about. Those 50 or older are the parents & grandparents of this young-gen. Cosby has pointed out the problem ad has given solutions to the problems, but youth can’t hear him because he’s going about it all wrong.
#93 is a racist pretending to be black. Hey don’t get upset that whites have such a low fertility rate.
He makes valid points BUT it doesnt even mention the fact that the system is corrupt… there are constantly laws being past that arent good for the lower class people of this country, (which most of them are mexican or blacks) the united states with the white majority government will continue controlling the world with wall street and neocolonialism. bill cosby is acting like the system works… well it doesnt… most white people arent racist i would say they just want to keep getting rich off the ignorance of the lower class. and they succeed in that time and time again based on the fact lower class people have to worry about rent and bills more then who pythagoras was or what his theorem was for… there is no social justice in this country and until then the black community the mexican community all the minority communities in this country will be held down and people like bill cosby will continue to b*tch while the rest of the world keeps spinning…
you arent any better then that fat a$$ micheal moore…
what have you done other then please your target audience…
the only people who are buying your dumb book are the people that agree with you…
