Oprah had a legend on her stage, how did people really expect her to behave…people forget that celebrities can be stans too. But Oprah seemed fair to me…i mean i like jill scott, i’ve been bumpin this cd none stop, but her accomplishments aren’t as long as janet’s is, so there was more to talk about with Janet. People wanted to hear about the movie, but fans also want the interviewer to use the opportunity they have while they have the person on the stage to get as much personal information about them as well. And Janet didn’t seem to be an attention hog, in fact, she was very nonchalant about everything being the laid back diva she is.
I think everybody did a great job. I’m going to see the movie for sure. Tyler is too silly.

I just want her to challenge herself and make us believe the part. Something new and different for her. Like when Will played Ali. Everyone shook their heads at first, but when he did it, it was “Ali BOOMBAYA! all over again.
Jamie as Ray. That was some sh*t you can feel. You forgot it was Jamie.
Tyrese as Jodi or Rome. Both parts he did his thing.
Diana Ross in Lady sings the Blues. THat’s an example of a singer really being and actress. Mahogany.
Beyonce/JHud in Dreamgirls. They made you believe.
So far, no matter who Janet plays, she looks like Janet Jackson pretending to be someone. I hope in this movie it’s different.

I saw the show. Jill was ignored for the most part which was very unfortunate because she was glowing and had much more interesting things to say than dumb old Janet. I swear Janet gives the worst interviews — she’s just not interesting and stays in that stupid little girl mode. Jill had just come off a divorce, from the clips her acting was incredible, and she looked beautiful, but Oprah obviously didn’t know too much about her.
Tyler just needs to come out the closet, I mean really. It’s okay dude. The whole Valentino dress thing screamed “gay, Gay, GAY!”

Yeah @ 73, Jill is still hanging to some stuff from the divorce, you can see it in her face. But I guess it’s none of our business… Janet looked like she didnt want to be bothered the WHOLE time, LOL but she was still beautiful! Dang Oprah, you could have plugged Jilly’s album at the end of the show! I still see grammys in future for it though, the album is off the hook

I agree #80. Did Oprah even mention Jill’s new CD??? I mean damn, she could have helped a sista out. The album is phenomenal, but I really don’t think Oprah (and/or her staff) did their homework on Jilly from Philly. All that time wasted on Janet’s mumbling about how she wouldn’t tell her good girlfriend her fiance was cheating on her. Whatever Janet. It was so stupid!

I am not hating or trying to pit two black women against each other, but….. IMO Jill looked very pretty, although she did seem a little sad. And Janet… I”m glad for her that she is finally happy and in love, but during the interview all I kept thinking was that she looks so weird. The pronounced cheeks with blush on them make her look a bit like a clown. The little nose is just gross looking. She just doesn’t look natural. She looks very odd. That being said, I am looking forward to the movie. I really like Tyler’s work.

Dropkick, I am not sure if you are young, but only someone that does not know what Janet Jackson has contributed to entertainment would make sure an senseless statement. I am sure you think 50 Cent and The Game are legends and Justin Timberfake is a good R & B singer.
However, I cannot wait until this comes out. I want to see it the first night. I love when we do quality work.
Oh, and Jill Scott can never be ignored. Just because Oprah did not chat her up on the couch the most means nothing. Jill is always shining the brightest amongst the stars.

From what I’m reading about how Jilly was treated I’m not suprised. Jill-gate is a classic example of what happens when “folks” go on Oprah. It’s not about what they want or what “we” want (obviously). It’s about Oprah and what she wants. She takes the show in the direction SHE wants.
I hear what people are saying about Janet and Tyler getting the most shine because they’re mega-stars but there’s no question in my mind that if Oprah was really feeling Jill she would have allowed her some extra shine time too. What substantive information doesn’t the world know about Janet that she hasn’t share with us already? And wasn’t she just on Oprah like the other day? GMAB already.
Oprah knows she has the power to lead her audience to buy, listen to, watch, etc whoever she wants and she’s clearly not a Jill Scott fan. Otherwise, she would have been all in her ass crack like she does for people she “stans” for. I’m not a Oprah “hater.” I just wish people would stop expecting her to bend over backwards for “her” people. Now, if she invites Jill back to her show I will eat my words.
A preemptory word of caution: remove yourself from my proverbial nutsacks if you don’t like what I have to say b/c I don’t gives a f**k. But thanks for reading.

I find this totally sad that a lot black folks on this site are just genuine haters. I’m 16 and i wonder if these people who are hating so hard are my age or older because it’s quite ridiculous. I remember being on this site when only a small group commented and when they made comments they had something constructive to say and it wasn’t like who can come up with the best insult. Even if someone didn’t like the subject of the post they stated their reply in a respectful manner.

I can’t wait until this movie comes out! Big ups to Tyler and the cast. ALL OF THEM.
I am a huge Jill Scott fan and her album does not disappoint especially that “Crown Royal on Ice”…hhhhhot! Her acting skills are up to par as well. Not too many rapper/singer turned actors win my favor. But the few things I have seen of her were cool and I think she can go far with it if given the chance.
I kind of feel what #77 (DropKick) was saying (with the exception of Beyonce). Lets not forget Denzel as Malcolm X. I love Janet but her acting skills does leave a little to be desired. She lacks a bit of energy. But when she performs music…man…She sets it on fire!
I hope all the black folks support this film. NO BOOT LEGGING!!!!! It aint about the money it’s about keeping black folks with jobs and keeping black film on the map!
BTW- I am hoping that the reason for Oprah’s neglect of Jill is either about her current emotional state or maybe she will get her own shine coming up soon on O. One can only hope that there is a reason because Jill is a powerful and intelligent sister. She would be a good representation of us for O’s white audience to see.

If anything Janet was taking a backseat in this interview because it wasn’t about her.
She and Jill were part of an ensemble cast and they were promoting a movie.
The only reason why Janet got more screen time on the interview was because Tyler replaced her dress. Janet was extremely humble the entire time and if anything i felt like she was trying to take the focus off of her.
Jill and Janet did a phenomenal job acting! A lot of people who saw the movie already said that they were surprised that they were able to seperate Janet Jackson from her character and really enjoy the film.

@38 sooo can you please show me the scripture in bible where it says that? are saved people allowed to smoke weed too? let me guess can’t get too high!lol
———————————————-
Girl you already know it…can’t get too high.
A Few Bible Verses on Drinking:
“Do not join those who drink too much wine or gorge themselves on meat, for drunkards and gluttons become poor, and drowsiness clothes them in rags” [Proverbs 23.20-21].
“Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit” [Ephesians 5.18].
And there are plenty more but those are the only ones I could think of.
What I gained from these two scriptures personally is that God doesn’t mind us drinking…it the excessive or overuse of drinking that seems to be a problem with many. If God were against it, he would have forbid Jesus to turn water into wine.
Now as for smoking…I am not too sure on. At least to my knowledge the bible doesn’t speak on smoking, then again I barely read the bible so I really am not too sure. God did make tobacco and marijuana and it has been used for medical treatments for centuries. I think it is again the mistreatment of using the substance. So naw…we can’t get too high (smile).

Please black people, lets not turn this seemingly good movie into a whole “Janet v. Jill” like it was “Beyonce v. Jennifer” in Dreamgirls. ‘DropKick’, it was Charlene, not Charmaine. Interesting and ironic enough, the last name of that character was Dupree. Anyway. All I saw in Dreamgirls was Beyonce and Jennifer Hudson playing
Sheryl Lee Ralph’s and Jennifer Holiday’s characters from the original play. I didn’t see the character. In fact, I’m mad you trying insinuate that Beyonce is a good actor and not Janet LOL. I personally, definitely saw Justice. Jamie was good as Ray, but I wouldn’t say outstanding. I haven’t had the chance to see Will in Ali, so I won’t comment.

Everybody was very nice looking in person. Seriously. While I was a bit underwhelmed at the zero audience participation, i enjoyed seeing how a show worked behind the scenes. Tyler looked nice, and no he didn’t seem “Homo” to me. Regardless of his sexual orientation, it really isn’t anybody’s business. You can tell he’s a man, and conducts himself as such. Jill was beaitufl and sexy. I don’t know why she surprised me, but man. She has some NIICCCEEE LEGS lol. Very beautiful sista there. Oprah was nice, she joked around in the beginning, before the show cam on, and joked with the audience a little, but that was the end of that once the show started. I HATE she barely asked Jill anything. I mean, she just had a CD Come out, and she didn’t even mention it. I didn’t like that. Janet, is as sexy as always. She was so small though, so fragile. She seemed warm to everybody though. I liked that.
I can’t stress to say this movie was REALLY REALLY GOOD. There is a scene in the middle of the movie that is SAD, Funny, Happy, all at the same time. Trust me when I say that scene is so good. The acting was good through out. I can’t stress to say go and see this movie opening weekend. It was almost like watching the Pretty Black People movies of the late 90s. You know with Taye, Nia and Morris, you know what i’m talking about. I hope this is a return to them.
This was Tyler’s best movie to me. Go see it.

See, white folks stack paper together instead of bringing eachother down every chance they get. Damn crabs in a barrel. Anyway Janet is beautiful, and Jill is beautiful which goes to show that black women are simply stunning period. Go support the movie and the movement, leave the petty shit at home please.

Tyler Perry is gay. Do not believe the lies. He is a nice, godly man but gay yet in still. Most men will take this secret to their grave because they are still ashamed of their orientation. Plus by him being a Christian he may feel that some will take him for a fraud as most Christians feel homosexuality is wrong. That is not my opinion. I am speaking on the so called “Moral Majority” in this country. I wish him luck.

Like everyone esle I would have loved to hear more from Jill. I think her part is the most dramatic in the movie anyway. She had to deal with self esteem issues, self love, and a failing marriage and so on.
I love Tyler and his movies. He is a funny dude with a great personality and he a sweet person, men like that automactically stick as gay to black people. He ain’t 37 years old still tryna sag, rap, and start fights in the club,oh, he’s so gay.
Janet looked fab too, but her baby talking around every question asked to her got on my nerves, she does this all the time though so its nothing new.

THE MOVIE LOOK LIKE ITS GONNA BE A TYPICAL TP MOVIE. THATS COOL CUZ HIS MOVIES USUALLY DO WELL.
ON THE REAL, LET’S BE HONEST JANET JACKSON HAS LEGIONS OF FANS ACROSS THE WORLD, MORE THAN TYLER OR JILL, OR ANYONE IN THAT MOVIE. THAT MOVIE WILL MAKE MORE THAN ANY OTHERS JUST BECAUSE SHE’S IN IT. EVERYTHING THAT WOMAN IS ON IS ALWAYS THE HIGHEST RATED. SO TYLER WASN’T STUPID WITH PUTTIN HER IN THE MOVIE AND OPRAH WASN’T DUMB FOR FOCUSING THE ATTENTION ON HER.
NO MATTER HOW MUCH OF A FLOP OR WASHED UP PEOPLE THINK THAT WOMAN IS YOU GOTTA SHOW RESPECT. HER LAST TWO SO CALLED “FLOPS” WENT PLATINUM. HOW MANY ARTIST CAN CALL A PLATINUM CD A FLOP. NONE. THEY ARE ONLY MEASURING THOSE PLATINUM ALBUMS AGAINST HERSELF. THERE’S ARTIST THAT WOULD GIVE THEIR LIFE FOR A PLATINUM CD, AND THIS WOMAN’S LEAST SELLING CD IS PLATINUM. SHE’S BEEN IN THIS GAME OVER 20 YEARS AND CAN STILL SELL 1 MILLION RECORDS, THAT DOESN’T SOUND LIKE A FLOP, LOSER, OR B LIST CELEB. THAT SOUNDS LIKE A MEGA SUPER STAR THAT THESE YOUNG GIRLS CAN ONLY PRAY THAT THEY BECOME. LETS SEE WHERE SOME OF THEM ARE AFTER 10 ALBUMS. SHE’S A LIVING LEGEND.
I BELIVE THAT JILL IS GONNA BLOW IT OUT OF THE WATER IN THIS MOVIE. MAD PROPS TO HER. SHE SO EXTREMELY TALENTED.

@ #40 ITA with you on Janet. She needs to do something raw like take on the role of a drug addict or abused woman. Even playing a role without makeup- like when the movie”Monster” with Charlize Theron, it would catapult her career in another direction.
Janet just needs to either get into directing or producing now. She needs to get a new (higher) level of respect.

This reminds me of when “Dreamgirls” came out and people were trippin over Beyonce getting more attention when J.Hud’s role was much bigger…
Anyway, Janet was absolutely beautiful (as always) and I loved her hair! I love the compliments Tyler had for her, saying how humble and un-diva like she was on the set (which is not surprising).
Jill is such a pretty woman and has one of the most beautiful smiles I’ve ever seen…

I wish O would have talked to Jill a bit more. Jill is so intelligent and has interesting conversation in every interview. I realize it was about the movie not about Jill. However its funny how O goes clashes with the “rap” community and her arguement is their “lack of responsibilty” for their lyrics.
No Jill is NOT a rapper however she is a fresh face singer/actress who lyrics are often poetic and incredible. She is reaching to new heights as an actress and I believe O could have expanded on that a lil more than she did. Im sure Jill didn’t trip but I was quite shocked that O didn’t dialogue with her more.
