I was in the audience that day. It was ok. We got treated to a screening of the movie Tuesday night. The movie is EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!! Everybody has to go and see it. The show was ok, I was hopping for more audience participation, that kinda let me down. I must say though. Jill Scott is one sexy woman! I Wish Oprah talked to her more. IT was more about Janet, and hearing the same ol same ol. WE also got Jill Scott’s new album as a gift as we were leaving.

I saw the show last night. Oprah did seem to spend a lot of time talking to Janet. I wish she had engaged Jill more in conversation. But overall the show was good.

Why does everybody keep saying Tyler is gay? We really have to stop putting that label on our black men just because they don’t fit into our pre-conceived ideas of how a man should act or be. Black women already complaining about a so-called “shortage” of good black men. They are either in jail, married to a white woman, on the DL, or they get classified as gay. Come on now.

I really think he was talking about her. It usually takes anywhere from 12-18 mo from production to screen. If i’m adding right it would be right around he dated her. Oprah co-signed like he totally confided. It is what it is.

Everytime i see a movie commercial, it says something like “A martin scorsee film” or something of that nature. And if it doesnt have a name on it, itx cuz the director is probably not known. Tyler Perry is definitely doing his thing. He has tapped into and audience with the sisters and now he’s writing his ticket. I read some time agao about his struggles and journey to stardom. Much respect brother. I will absolutely support this film.

Now I haven’t heard any serious stir, like when Dreamgirls was coming and JHud was being discussed, but I hope Jill gets the attention she deserves. Hopefully no will have to ask, “Who is Jill Scot” after this. She God sent and I love her . Haven’t copped the CD yet, but it is already on my Christmas list for several of my friends.

I am siding a little with No 20. They have a point. Just because a black man doesn’t fit the sterotypical image of a black man-we stick him in the “how you doin” catagory. His claim to fame was the production of those stage plays–most black men in the “non-traditional arts” are going to to get the gay flag (no-pun).

Oprah is insecure around other women…she knew Jill conversation would have been interesting that’s why she ignored her. Because all Oprah do is talk, talk, talk herself and brag on what she’s done. Janet seemed to get annoyed by that herself when Oprah said Tyler came to pick her up and told Janet ‘Oh, you wouldn’t know what it was like when you were little to have your father drive you around’ That was rude!

But I’m glad to see Tyler bringing movies in an all black cast and that’s inspirational! Need more like it!

Janet is still flawlessly gorgeous. She is too cute and genuinely humble..that’s the key to being in the industry so long, and having so many faithful fans…love that girl.

Tyler is gaining weight, but i still think he’s handsome…yep, and the money don’t hurt one damn bit, yep Oprah, you’re right…I love how tyler is working with so many black actors….he is the black actor’s saving grace and gift right now. I’m sure everyone’s hoping to get in on that next tyler perry film, and just waiting on that phone call. His films are the thing to do among black hollywood now…i’m not into his plays.

I went to a taping of the show. It was the one Russell Simmons and Diane Warren were on. I was actually surprised because Oprah looks exactly the same. You can tell she has on a lot of makeup, though. Her personality is the same too. I thought she would be a total bitch when the camera wasn’t rolling and that even during the show she would say stuff that they would edit out later but it wasn’t like that.

I really enjoyed this episode. I wish they had focused on Jill more. She looked SO GORGEOUS! Hopefully they will have her back on to talk about her album and what’s been going on in her life. The movie looked great as well. I can’t wait to see it.

Actually I didn’t, but the discussion was her acting. As a performer and artist, she wrote the book for today’s Beyonce’s, Rhianna’s and Ashanti’s. They are all on her bra strap. She is an unbelievable performer. But I believe she is more a singer/dancer than actress.

Oprah had a legend on her stage, how did people really expect her to behave…people forget that celebrities can be stans too. But Oprah seemed fair to me…i mean i like jill scott, i’ve been bumpin this cd none stop, but her accomplishments aren’t as long as janet’s is, so there was more to talk about with Janet. People wanted to hear about the movie, but fans also want the interviewer to use the opportunity they have while they have the person on the stage to get as much personal information about them as well. And Janet didn’t seem to be an attention hog, in fact, she was very nonchalant about everything being the laid back diva she is.

I think everybody did a great job. I’m going to see the movie for sure. Tyler is too silly.

I am not hating or trying to pit two black women against each other, but….. IMO Jill looked very pretty, although she did seem a little sad. And Janet… I”m glad for her that she is finally happy and in love, but during the interview all I kept thinking was that she looks so weird. I find this totally sad that a lot black folks on this site are just genuine haters. I’m 16 and i wonder if these people who are hating so hard are my age or older because it’s quite ridiculous. I am a huge Jill Scott fan and her album does not disappoint especially that “Crown Royal on Ice”…hhhhhot! Her acting skills are up to par as well. Not too many rapper/singer turned actors win my favor. But the few things I have seen of her were cool and I think she can go far with it if given the chance.

I kind of feel what #77 (DropKick) was saying (with the exception of Beyonce). Lets not forget Denzel as Malcolm X. I love Janet but her acting skills does leave a little to be desired. She lacks a bit of energy. But when she performs music…man…She sets it on fire!

I hope all the black folks support this film. NO BOOT LEGGING!!!!! It aint about the money it’s about keeping black folks with jobs and keeping black film on the map!

BTW- I am hoping that the reason for Oprah’s neglect of Jill is either about her current emotional state or maybe she will get her own shine coming up soon on O. One can only hope that there is a reason because Jill is a powerful and intelligent sister. She would be a good representation of us for O’s white audience to see.

If anything Janet was taking a backseat in this interview because it wasn’t about her.
She and Jill were part of an ensemble cast and they were promoting a movie.

The only reason why Janet got more screen time on the interview was because Tyler replaced her dress. Janet was extremely humble the entire time and if anything i felt like she was trying to take the focus off of her.
Jill and Janet did a phenomenal job acting! A lot of people who saw the movie already said that they were surprised that they were able to seperate Janet Jackson from her character and really enjoy the film.

A Few Bible Verses on Drinking:

“Do not join those who drink too much wine or gorge themselves on meat, for drunkards and gluttons become poor, and drowsiness clothes them in rags” [Proverbs 23.20-21].

And there are plenty more but those are the only ones I could think of.

What I gained from these two scriptures personally is that God doesn’t mind us drinking…it the excessive or overuse of drinking that seems to be a problem with many. If God were against it, he would have forbid Jesus to turn water into wine.

Now as for smoking…I am not too sure on. At least to my knowledge the bible doesn’t speak on smoking, then again I barely read the bible so I really am not too sure. God did make tobacco and marijuana and it has been used for medical treatments for centuries. I think it is again the mistreatment of using the substance. So naw…we can’t get too high (smile).

Please black people, lets not turn this seemingly good movie into a whole “Janet v. Jill” like it was “Beyonce v. Jennifer” in Dreamgirls. ‘DropKick’, it was Charlene, not Charmaine. Interesting and ironic enough, the last name of that character was Dupree. Anyway. All I saw in Dreamgirls was Beyonce and Jennifer Hudson playing
Sheryl Lee Ralph’s and Jennifer Holiday’s characters from the original play. I didn’t see the character. In fact, I’m mad you trying insinuate that Beyonce is a good actor and not Janet LOL. I personally, definitely saw Justice. Jamie was good as Ray, but I wouldn’t say outstanding. I haven’t had the chance to see Will in Ali, so I won’t comment.

Oh yeah, and you forgot to evaluate Cleo Hewitt from Fame. lol =P

A certain brother of Miss Janet’s got married himself recently. [hint, he wears a lacefront weave]. Thats a good ass hint so I’m not saying no more.

Everybody was very nice looking in person. Seriously. While I was a bit underwhelmed at the zero audience participation, i enjoyed seeing how a show worked behind the scenes. Tyler looked nice, and no he didn’t seem “Homo” to me. Regardless of his sexual orientation, it really isn’t anybody’s business. You can tell he’s a man, and conducts himself as such. Jill was beaitufl and sexy. I don’t know why she surprised me, but man. She has some NIICCCEEE LEGS lol. Very beautiful sista there. Oprah was nice, she joked around in the beginning, before the show cam on, and joked with the audience a little, but that was the end of that once the show started. I HATE she barely asked Jill anything. I mean, she just had a CD Come out, and she didn’t even mention it. I didn’t like that. Janet, is as sexy as always. She was so small though, so fragile. She seemed warm to everybody though. I liked that.

I can’t stress to say this movie was REALLY REALLY GOOD. There is a scene in the middle of the movie that is SAD, Funny, Happy, all at the same time. Trust me when I say that scene is so good. The acting was good through out. I can’t stress to say go and see this movie opening weekend. It was almost like watching the Pretty Black People movies of the late 90s. You know with Taye, Nia and Morris, you know what i’m talking about. I hope this is a return to them.

This was Tyler’s best movie to me. Go see it.

This is an oppurtunity to showcase phenomenal black talent, do not make it a competition. They are in the same movie why make silly comparisons? Tyler Perry is gay. Do not believe the lies. He is a nice, godly man but gay yet in still. Most men will take this secret to their grave because they are still ashamed of their orientation. Plus by him being a Christian he may feel that some will take him for a fraud as most Christians feel homosexuality is wrong. That is not my opinion. I am speaking on the so called “Moral Majority” in this country. I wish him luck.

Like everyone esle I would have loved to hear more from Jill. I think her part is the most dramatic in the movie anyway. She had to deal with self esteem issues, self love, and a failing marriage and so on.

I love Tyler and his movies. He is a funny dude with a great personality and he a sweet person, men like that automactically stick as gay to black people. He ain’t 37 years old still tryna sag, rap, and start fights in the club,oh, he’s so gay.

Janet looked fab too, but her baby talking around every question asked to her got on my nerves, she does this all the time though so its nothing new.

I wish O would have talked to Jill a bit more. Jill is so intelligent and has interesting conversation in every interview. I realize it was about the movie not about Jill. However its funny how O goes clashes with the “rap” community and her arguement is their “lack of responsibilty” for their lyrics.

No Jill is NOT a rapper however she is a fresh face singer/actress who lyrics are often poetic and incredible. She is reaching to new heights as an actress and I believe O could have expanded on that a lil more than she did. Im sure Jill didn’t trip but I was quite shocked that O didn’t dialogue with her more.

I have the show taped and I haven’t watched it yet, but I certainly will.

The movie sounds great and I will definitely support it on October 12. The entire cast looks beautiful and there are some great looking scenes. I agree with Tyler when he says he thinks this is his best movie. From the previews I’ve seen, he’s absolutely right.
