I was excited when I saw that Tweet was releasing a new album, Love, Tweet. For a long time, she has been one of my favorite artists, and Southern Humming bird will remain a classic to me. But upon downloading the new song to sample it, I realized that it was the same song that I’d posted about a month ago with Ciara and T.I. I lifted an eyebrow. Not only did I not like that Ciara version, I wondered why Tweet would choose this song as a first single for her upcoming album.
I was thoroughly disappointed, hoping this version of the song would give me something else, but it didn’t. It still drags to me and the vocal stacking clashes for me. I’m very disappointed. But it wouldn’t be fair to say that Tweet is famous for this. She always releases a single that differs drastically from the bulk of material of her album. I hope I can get some more of that classic Tweet sound.
So you know now CL has to ask you a question… who sang it better?
I dont like the song period but for the song itself I say Ciara.

I SAY ciara because her voice is different and mellow and she can actualy sing, but tweet she cahnge the whole groove to the song,It’s like ciara and Ti and have a certain chemistry that makes the record a HIT (IF HE PUT IT OUT OR cIARA dOES)

LMFAO at some of you clowns saying ciara sang it better. the chick was off key for the majority of the song and there’s no feeling in her voice.

Tweet grooved… made it mellow and slick. Ciara was aiight… it was more “high school girl”… Tweet’s was a grown woman’s version.

I haven’t listened to the Ciara version, but when I listened to the Tweet version, my thought was the song was made for someone like Ciara – or even Cassie – someone with very little vocal ability. The vocal content of the song amounted to little more than a hook. Tweet’s voice is too powerful for that. I hope she rethinks this as her first single – it’s horrible. Southern Hummingbird is one of my favorite CD’s of all time. Tweet is also “all over” Karen Clark Sheard’s “2nd Chance” CD – she had more presence on the background vocals on some of those tracks than she does on what’s supposedly the first single from her upcoming album.
I knew this post was coming. Although Tweet is the better singer I like CiCi betta.
I liked Ciara’s better…it seems a little more upbeat to me or maybe I turned my computer up or something, but either way Ciara’s is better-on tune or off tune Janice

i like tweet but her version seeemed boring and plain. ciara’s version though made me LOOOOVE the song! So i say CICI.
The song is rubbish either way, but Tweet still sounds better IMO. Ciara has a really limited range, practically monotone but she is still a good performer. I expect better from Tweet, I’m surprised she’s releasing this as a single.
Tweet has a stronger voice than Ciara – but for this song, and production, Ciara’s voice sounds better. The song though – is a mess, and shouldn’t be released by anyone.

Although I’m a huge tweet fan I’mma have to go with Ciara on this. Her voice and style is a better fit for the song. She bring a certain swagger to it that makes me not hate it.

Please believe I am a devout fan of the one and only “Southern Hummingbird”. Vocally, Ciara cannot not begin to compare to Tweet, a true soul singer. However, like many of you stated, this track is pretty wack, for starters. And Tweet isn’t even the star of the track if this is to be her first single. And to be honest, this song is better suited for the vocal abilities of a Ciara, who did a pretty good job on it btw. Ciara got this one!!! But, could we honestly hear Ciara singing “Smoking Cigarettes”, “Beautiful”, “Motel”, or “Complain” from Tweet’s first album, hell no !!! Being a true fan, I’ma buy Tweet’s album regardless. Is this the right single or representation of “Love, Tweet”, hopefully and probably not.
