The 2007 American Music Awards took place last night with Beyonce as the lady of the night, receiving the acclaimed International Artist Of The Year award and performing her hit Irreplaceable with country band Sugarland. Rihanna also left with an award for Best R&B/Soul artist and performed on stage with Neyo.
Other performers included Alicia Keys with her reggae mix that included Beenie Man and Chaka Demus & Pliers (Murder She Wrote), Mary J. Blige, Chris Brown, Lenny Kravitz, Queen Latifah, and Will.I.Am…

The show was dry until Mary and AKeys performed. Alicias performance was hot as hell. I was speed dialing my girls by the time Beenie came out. Big up to Alicia. Loved it!!!! And Alicia was whining(sp)? her ass off!!
I didn’t see the show…opted out this year, but I must say that Beyonce’s outfit (with the leather jacket) is hot. I LOVE those shoes! And congrats to her on the artist of the year award. Haters will say she don’t deserve it, but we all know she does.

For those of you who didn’t see it … You didn’t miss much. The only thing that was actually good was the Alicia Keys performance. I’m not a fan of reggae but the crowd was loving it. My only problem with her … She wears WAY too much makeup ALL the time.
Beyonce – Meh … that country version of Irreplaceable was excrutiating to listen to and even worse to watch as Beyonce tried to oversing the woman who was supposed to be singing it.
Mary J was amazing as usual.
Jimmy Kimmel being drunk was pretty funny.

in my honest opinion, not tryna hate or nething, but i really didnt understand how or why beyonce was the first female to win that award. i can recall many other female artists who proceeded her in the bizz who should gotten it before her. i mean, yes she has accomplished A LOT and is great at what she does…my point is just that there were others who were deserving as well.
