Mike Tyson is no dummie. He’s really quite intelligent. He reads a lot of books. Sometimes, really listen to what he has to say. The problem is, he’s bipolar (manic-depressive), and won’t stay on his medication. That’s pretty common among bipolars, but he hasn’t gotten a lot of encouragement to stay on his meds. A lot of people in his life have wanted him off the medication doing crazy shit so they could take advantage of him. My heart goes out to him, and Lauren Hill too. We Black folks gotta stop seeing mental illness as something shameful, or laughable, and start helping our family members and friends get the help they need to stay mentally healthy.

Yes, mental illness has one of the worse stigmas in this society but it will take a lot of time for people to get passed those beliefs; especially since our culture hardly addresses it and readily makes a joke of it; but in actuality, it is a rather very sad situation for all those involved.
